From the very first episode, it became evident that this anime was going to be a struggle to sit through.

Let's start with the animation quality - or rather, the lack thereof. Scenes are poorly drawn, characters lack consistency in design, and the animation is choppy at best. It feels like watching a slideshow rather than a ... fluid, engaging story. Even worse, the animation quality seems to degrade with each passing episode, which is a massive disappointment for any viewer hoping for improvement.

Moving on to the plot, it's a mess. While the initial concept had potential, the storytelling quickly devolves into a convoluted mess of clichés and nonsensical developments. Characters lack depth and motivation, making it impossible to connect with them on any level. Subplots are introduced and promptly forgotten, leaving viewers bewildered and unsatisfied.

The dialogue is equally uninspired, filled with exposition dumps and cringeworthy attempts at humor that fall completely flat. It's as if the script was hastily thrown together without any regard for coherence or entertainment value.

To top it all off, the sound design is abysmal, with jarring sound effects and forgettable background music that fails to set the mood or enhance the viewing experience in any way.

Typical of Isekai Treasure (Call me vanilla I love these shows 😂) the plot is always the same, the titles are an essay, and you forget them one week after the season's over.

*HOWEVER*

When you're working full time and trying to do a Master's degree, you don't have a ton of time. This is the type of show you can make your dinner to, fold laundry to and even work on assignments to because you can glance away for like 2-3 mins at a time and not miss anything ... with the occasional 10 second rewind because you heard a loud noise.

This is an anime of convenience and it gets a 7 for being so simple I can look away to be a responsible adult and come back and still know what's going on.

Don't let the low score of people who are starved of intense stimuli try to gaslight you into thinking that watching a certain Austrian Painter crochet a sweater would be more entertaining than this. It's worth a watch for the simple folk

We are really scraping the bottom of the barrel here, aint we? Every season we get to see the same trash, but someone it gets worse every time. I've watched over 200 isekais, this is, and I don't say this lightly, the most garbage one I've seen so far. Welcome, to AI's first attempt at creating an isekai from scratch (or thats what it feels like).

It's quite an achievement actually, this isekai manages to be absolutely dogshit in EVERY aspect. Don't get me wrong, I don't have high expectations, it doesn't take much to keep me entertained. While writing this, I actually just tried to ... think of a single fucking redeeming quality of anime for like 5 straight minutes. N o t h i n g . The male lead is not only an extremely boring self insert, but is completely devoid of charisma, and also just dumb? (No seriously, how do you fuck up a copy paste isekai protagonist??) I'm not even going to go into the side characters, there are just there to glaze the mc and have the collective IQ of an eraser. The plot? Were you expecting one? Too bad, there isn't one. I usually don't say anything about animation quality, but, I kid you not when I say the first ever 'Anime', The Dull Sword, from 1917, had better animation. Calling the animation a Power Point Presentation would be generous. The character design is laughably uninspired, the action scenes are just, pan left, pan right, zoom out, followed by stock sound effects.

I'm not going to say the usual 'Oh well, only 3 episodes are out, it's too early to judge, it might get better'. No. If this anime was thrice as good as it is now, it would barely enter the 'so bad its good' territory. This anime has 0 potential. It is, and will continue to be, an utterly dogshit, unentertaining, insult of an anime that will be dropped by most people and forgotten. Stay away, it's a waste of time.

Dekisoko - I'm struggling to say something coherent about this one.

For every good (or at least somewhat decent) fantasy work out there, there're many others trying to live up to the anime infancies of adaptation, be it a rather rough adaptation of the source material (i.e. novelist Kuji Furumiya's Unnamed Memory this season) or be it even now the platinum standards of either Frieren or Kusuriya no Hitorigoto a.k.a The Apothecary Dairies that we've been so blessed for the past 6 months. However, when you have a work so generic, bland and uninspired that got people to produce a work so heinously "adapted" as such ... (like good anime needs good production), this show does the exact opposite that I can't really tell whether it was intentional to create an anime that's just about as worse as the source material itself. And that, my friends, is where I'll welcome you to novelist Shin Kouzuki's series, shortened to Dekisoko, because why the hell would you even give a heck care about this in the first place?

Everything about this show is exactly what you think it is: Dumb and Dumber, but a billion times worse to make you question: What exactly is the motivation of banishing a stereotypical hero potential, only to have him be forced on a one-way street back to resolve kingdom problems that are (rightfully) none of his business?

Banished from the Hero's Party? We've already had that one series that is way better in ALL aspects than this one.

Characters? All egregiously one-note and poorly conceived, as if like everyone in this unfortunate work are all designed like NPCs to hand out plot pointers and threads on a platter. Even the villains are a joke, which felt like cringe and a chore to sit through. I feel bad for the central OP MC Alan, because I thought for a good while that he would be a decent character, but nope, the author had a rather diabolical idea to just turn him into a waste of a character that just goes with the flow of "whatever happens, will happen".

Animation? Oh Good Lord, the infamous Nanatsu no Taizai pairing of Studio Deen and Marvy Jack are back again tearing through another work that isn't Seven Deadly Sins...and need I say any more about the results and/or outcome of that? Pure laziness and utmost BS-level of care given to an already strained industry pumping on quantity instead of quality.

Sound? The mistake of giving the lead voice to Shouta Aoi, to a character that to my mind, doesn't put two and two together like a well-oiled machine, that ultimately sounded like someone else who came from a different anime altogether who doesn't feel happy to be in a rather negatively influenced world. Also, his OPs have gotten a lot worse than I remember, where the only good thing to talk about is Aimi's ED, which for as plaln as it is, is considered a banger song in the pile of balderdash rubbish that is the show overall.

I'm usually one that can tolerate bad Isekai/fantasy shows, but Dekisoko easily takes the cake where I find myself easily quitting half of Episode 1 in...only to say: just one more episode, to see plot be thrown out, logic be cussed, and ANY sense of understanding just being non-existent, like the show is trying to question everyone on what is right.

Dekisoko shows every sense of right...being wrong on all levels unexplainable that you end up having to take numerous mouthwashes, and that STILL won't gurgle away the absolute doggone trash that it is. It's truly the pinnacle of being incomprehensive and unwatchable.

The Banished Hero is a reincarnation series that follows Alan who, in his former life was a competent hero. However, as Alan Westfeldt from a noble family he decides to live life at his own pace which causes his family to disown him. Taking this opportunity to finally live the free life Alan wanders the continent experiencing new things, and enjoys the freedom away from aristocratic lifestyle.

Story & Character: 2/10
The series tries to be your adventurous story where Alan meets new people and broadens his horizons without the need for noble family expectations confining him. However, it lacks authenticity and the story feels constructed using ... the most stereotypical fantasy plot devices. Each episode is a new problem that Alan says he won’t deal with but leaves it to the last minute before doing anything. This happens in a never ending cycle of events from the typical evil faction to the corrupt upper class; It’s very unsatisfactory because Alan does the bare minimum to defeat the immediate opponent before a stronger opponent appears.

Characters are really 1 dimensional, Alan himself being the main character is beyond your typical isekai fantasy character. Throughout the series we see flashbacks of Alan’s past life which try to paint him as a trauma victim but it feels so corny. His traumatic experience is literally a child that’s experienced loss and destruction being afraid of him. The friendly characters surrounding him lack depth and feel like they exist to service Alan every few episodes with complimentary gestures and what a surprise, the only good people in this series are female; Most villains are the males.

Art & Sound: 3/10
The banished hero has that kind of art style that a high budget hentai has except hentai has properly animated action scenes. I’ve never been shocked with an anime released in 2024 having an art style of a budget anime from 2015 with its choppy character animations and minimal movement.

Sound is average too, lack of any great use of thematic music and backing tracks. Voice acting felt amateur and sound effects were mediocre at best.

Overall & Enjoyment: 3/10
This is one of those series that you turn your brain off to watch otherwise you will hurt yourself from overthinking. The Banished hero doesn’t live as he pleases and has to listen to his friends and save whoever they see every 15min. Apart from the overpowered display of skill this series is really scraping the bottom of the isekai barrel.

But I digress. Let us turn our attention to the characters—mere caricatures of their archetypes, devoid of depth or nuance. The artistry, too, leaves much to be desired, a lackluster tapestry of uninspired visuals that fails to ignite even a spark of interest. And as for character development? Well, let's just say it's as cringe-worthy as watching a novice blacksmith pound the same spot of a sword repeatedly with a hammer, oblivious to the principles of craftsmanship.

Speaking of which, allow me to regale you with a scene that encapsulates the essence of this anime: our hero enlists the aid of a blacksmith to craft his sword, only to witness her laboriously striking the same spot ad nauseam with her hammer. A metaphor, perhaps, for the repetitive monotony that plagues this series—a cycle of laziness and mediocrity that knows no end.

In conclusion, dear viewer, spare yourself the agony of indulging in this lackluster endeavor. There are far greater treasures to be unearthed in the vast expanse of anime, and "Dekisokonai to Yobareta Motoeiyuu wa Jikka kara Tsuihou sareta node Sukikatte ni Ikiru Koto ni Shita" is most certainly not one of them.

I have always been a fan of trashy isekais. But this, but THIS, is beyond what I can handle. Even trash isekai fans have standards (they're very low but existent). This has to be one of the worst isekais I have ever watched, no probably in the top 10 worst animes I have ever watched. Just in the first 2 episodes, there are at least FIVE MAJOR PLOTHOLES. For example, one of the most important figures in the entire kingdom, the princess, also called the saint because of her healing blessings, is traveling ALONE across one of the most dangerous areas. I say alone, but ... she's not actually alone, shes accompanied by a SINGLE KNIGHT that is pretty much useless.

The whole show feels like the author doesn't give a shit about telling a story, he is just throwing isekai cliché after isekai cliché. None of the characters feel like they have personality, just one cliché after the other. The author is just writing to pay rent, most likely, or else I don't see how you could make something as bad as this.

Now, the thing that I really wanna know is, HOW THE FUCK DID THIS GET AN ANIMATION???? Please don't tell me this light novel has a fanbase in Japan....

DO NOT watch this shit if you value your time, I don't know why I went through the pain of watching more than 1 episode.

I don't usually write reviews for anime on MAL but this anime is so awful I felt compelled to warn potential viewers about how awful this show is and to stay very very very far away.

Every season, I watch most trash isekai anime that air because it's a good way to pass the time and it's somewhat of a guilty pleasure so I decided to watch this one. That was a terrible mistake a waste of time. I got through 5 episodes and could not keep going. This anime has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GOING FOR IT. I'll break it down for you:

- Overall plot: The plot ... makes ZERO sense. There are glaring plot holes left and right that are getting addressed and the story just seems to progress as if nothing were wrong. A kindergartner could come up with a more coherent plot than this anime. The premise is fine but people / the characters seem to have no ability for rational thinking whatsoever

- Character development: Every single character in this show is laughably one dimensional. The MC is as plain as they come. There are no good supporting characters and even the antagonists are incredibly boring and nonsensical. There are some very very poor attempts at character development but it's really just your poorly executed copy paste of "I had a tough childhood"

- Animation quality: The animation straight up looks like it was animated for a high school film project by a bunch of amateur teenagers. The animation is extremely choppy, the art quality is not good and there are more stills here than my grandma's photo scrapbook

All in all, please stay away and save yourself some brain damage

As each seasons brings forth another wave of the isekai trash, by studios grasping at the last straws of the last straws, a general pattern can be seen in them. Thus, I have found a quality scale for isekai anime. The studios prioritize certain aspects of the show, carefully cutting out things in a specific order.
First, they cut out the main character. Put a black haired anime boy cardboard cutout instead, now only $9.99! Nobody will notice!
Second goes the world building. Nobody actually watches a show about a fantasy world to find out about its rich history, politics, how an eco system would co-exist ... with magic, or the cultures, customs, and religions of the people living in it! We are in town A, now we are in Forest #2, what's geography?
For the third, the animation quality. In lighter amounts, the fight scenes are simply replaced with 80s comic book pages, and in more desperate cases, we have this anime. It's so awful to look at or even listen to that sometimes I wonder if it was made by AI. If nothing else, I wonder if the script was made by AI. It's dry. It's bland. It's boring. You would think at least your brain can be somewhat entertained by the fact that things are moving on your screen as long as you turn your brain off, but it's just awful. Perfect example of a bad show. I have no idea how they thought making this was a good idea.

If you ask me to make a list of things that can ruin or make an anime bad Im just gonna open Dekisokonai.
Its actually pretty impressive how everything can be that bad. There is absolutely zero good things. Characters, story , animation, fights, villians. Everything is bad.

So what is it about?

The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases a story about Allen a reincarnated hero who died in his last life and want to live a happy and easy life. The world that Allen lives has a ... kind of a rule when someone is born they get a Gift from the gods but Allen born without the gift so he is considered a useless which actually a good think for him because again he’s plan to live chill.We learn that he has problem with his family (Dad and Brother) and get kicked out from their home while he is looking what he wanna do and where he wanna go he meets his childhood friend who was attacked by something ( I dont remember what is it) and helps her.(thats gonna be a pattern of all the story)

And our journey begins while he meets new people and helps them. Pretty stupid think to do if you want to live a stressful live but whatever.

We have 2 main situations towards the series that our hero Allen needs to save everyone and become hero again.Even tho he WANT TO LIVE A STRESSFULL LIVE AND DONT WANNA BECOME A HERO.
Without given spoiler both of the situation was stupid I mostly dont even understand what was the intention of the villians or their actions. Nothing made sense especially the second part and especially the last two episodes.

Character: boring. Just boring. Allen is the definition of Mary Sue he is overpowered as fuck. He can win every fight without to much effort. He is bot an interesting character and not funny.
The same think can be tell about every other character of this story they are boring. I dont even wanna talk about them that much.

Animation: The humor in this anime is nonexistent but animation actually can make you laugh the monstrosity that was created is mot explainable you just need to see this.

Sounds and Op, Ed: the voice actors did a decent job I guess I didn’t care to much of it. The ending tho actually was good. Op was just meh

Mostly this anime doesn’t make anysense. Dont watch it. If you like fantasy and overpowered MC's you gonna get bored because there better option. The worst part tho is still villians for me, zero logic and they all bland as paper.

There are more than 20 bad reviews on this anime but this monstrosity deserves more.

I'm already 6 episodes in and I feel like I can't immerse in this anime at all. The plot is very generic. I'm at the 6th episode and I can't even remember what happened to the last 5. I can't connect with the characters in any way. Back stories seem forced, like it was just out there to compensate for the lack of depth of the characters.

And the animation (or lack thereof). It is just so terrible. It's pretty obvious the studio is on a very, very tight budget to make this anime. Even the battle scenes look like they were made from a time ... before CGI. Can't remember how many times I cringed while watching.

I guess the one remaining good thing I like about this whole wreck is the ending soundtrack. "Meritocracy" by AIMI just sounds so lit.

There are better anime this season. Don't waste time on this one.

I don't typically dish out such low scores, but my lord this show deserves it.

As with every new anime season for the last several years, we get a slew of isekai-fantasy shows that typically range from enjoyable trash to hidden gems. Rarely do I watch one of these shows and not find some redeeming factor that makes the show at least watchable.

Here however, there is truly nothing and, as of episode 4, I would not recommend anyone watch this; It's just plain bad. Actually, as per my score, this is very bad and very deserving of the 3/10 I've given it.

The art and animation ... is extremely sub-par and low quality. Art in and of itself is just about passable for a show like this, but the animation is incredibly low budget, choppy and more like a slide-show than actually animated.
It's not quite on the level of "Maou-Sama Retry!" bad (which actually made that show funny), it's just the kind of bad that inspires no feelings whatsoever from the viewer.

Story-wise, I can't even tell you what's really going on as of EP4. The MC who spent all of his childhood and teenage years hiding away his extraordinary powers from his previous incarnation now suddenly decides to use them at every turn, turning any potential stakes or issues into hand-waved-away nothingness.
I don't even know why they're bothering to set-up that the MC's current family is ~evil~... The guy could go straight for the final boss and have the anime be over as of EP3-4 and that would actually have been a better story overall.

Characters in this show also have zero charisma or redeeming traits. The MC is OP, as per usual, but has about as much personality as a potato. He's not so OP and over-the-top that the show has comedic value, unlike Diablo from "How not to Summon a Demon Lord", or the much more recent Cid/Shadow from "Eminence in Shadow", he's just boring and more of a McGuffin to allow the show to progress.
His (current) 2 female cohorts have nothing going for them either. The knight lady does absolutely nothing and contributes nothing and even the clear love-interest in the "Saintess" does little more than be a mediocre talking plot-point who does, even then, nothing to drive the story forward.

Honestly, I have seen nearly every single "trash isekai" from the past several years and this is firmly in the "holy crap, this is just plain bad" category.
Don't bother watching this.

Is this an amazing and worthwhile watch? Not really. It's a generic and predictable piece of entertainment.
Is it overwhelmingly bad? No, there is much worse anime out there.
Is it as bad as people say? It's not a masterpiece, but it's an okay watch for what it is—a trashy piece of entertainment.
"The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases" is a somewhat trashy, repetitive, and predictable anime. It's the kind of show you can turn your brain off to. If I were to describe it, I'd say it's like a moderately burnt piece of toast that you eat because you're hungry, too lazy to make another, ... and have some butter to spread on it.

It's by no means an award-winning anime for originality or an amazing story, nor is it an anime that people would list as a top title of 2024 (unless they're trolling or baiting for responses). This is pretty much the epitome of a 5/10 anime.

The story exists, I guess. It makes sense but is very one-sided, focusing on the main character "Alan" who, after being cast out of his hometown royalty, embarks on adventures with a generic cast of women. These women have one-dimensional personalities, and Alan, being an overpowered protagonist, essentially forms a harem. The adventures lack rhyme or reason, often defy logic, and can be quite stupid—but to be fair, that's what this show was made to be: a really stupid Isekai-type, OP protagonist, adventure anime.
The animation is mostly a PowerPoint slideshow. Despite the static screens and minimal animation, it's not terrible to watch.

If you want to watch this, consider the following:
1: It's decent entertainment to shut your brain off to. As long as you don't notice the plot holes, the fight scenes are half-decent, and the plot, while not amazing, makes sense most of the time.
2: If you are not targeting something trashy, then this probably is not for you.

"It's so bad that it's good"

A quote that i saw on the discussion page and i feel describe this series the best. I'm a fantasy and isekai lover, this anime is decent (its an overstatement), pretty chill, it does what it does, the mc doesn't care about being hero anymore and this anime potray that pretty well because the fact that the mc rarely think about it and just go with it potray how careless he is and i like it. And the bad-side is this anime felt rushed, this anime don't have any "depths", the character felt not alive and weird with barely a ... backstory. But overall i do enjoy this one but i'm biased to isekai genre so yeah.

This is honestly the first anime I've seen where I just couldn't take anymore.

My problem isn't even with the problematic Animation or predictability of the plot. It's just very badly written and boring.
The characters are just that ... characters. Liveless animations that spark no feelings within the viewer.
The story itself is apparently nonexistent seeing as the anime could have ended at episode 6 and no one would complain. The MC is also very problematic in my eyes. Whatever he does or thinks just happens. No build up no inner conflict nothing. There is just a decision and cut to the plan being ... carried out without a problem. That is also true for anything else that happens. They basically tried to make an anime without a single second of filler bombarding you with facts and acts.

And to be very very clear. It's not one of those bad recommendations to make someone cringe. It's just bad.

I’m not sure why others have rated this so highly, I think even the 3 I gave it is probably too generous. This show has no plot and what I thought was the main storyline ends in episode 6. It’s a weird harem but I can’t understand why two of them are even there. Why is a blacksmith obsessed with making swords going on a journey in the first place? It’s not like she adds something other than an excuse for the weird elven forest thing that seemed jammed in out of nowhere and quickly forgotten. Then some weird stereotypical villain shows up for no ... reason and they continue to meander through bizarre convoluted and pointless scenarios. Main takeaway: Alan is strong and annoying useless girls like him. You’d be better off rewatching something good than watching trash like this.

Honest review: Don't watch this anime if don't like trashy anime. Just watch this anime only if you are bored or you have so so so so many free time.

I watched so many trash anime and I honestly enjoyed watching some of them. Trashy animes are not anime like slime or one piece, you just need to give a little attention to them.


The first episode of this anime is so weak. No hype, not interesting, and not that decent animation. A 1st episode should be great to attract viewers, even other trashy animes have excellent 1st episode.

The Last episode is so boring like the 1st ... eps.

Character: Anime like this with OP MC is normal. Other characters are boring not interesting to know them. Actually I don't really understand why they always following the MC.

4/10 - un-recyclable trash anime

This is one of the worst anime out there. The plot is poorly written, the main character is even less likeable than normal for an isekai, the animation is only technically existent, and the designs for all but one character are bad. I watch and read almost exclusively isekai nowadays, and this series falls below par in every account, even below that of isekai cheat magician. The main character gets lots of flashbacks of times when he was treated poorly in his previous life for saving people in ways that i can only imagine means the author of the story never got to play dragonquest ... in his youth and holds a grudge against all heroes now. if you have a choice between watching this series and listening to someone scratch their fingernails on a chalkboard for 4 hours, i would recommend the latter.
