Preliminary Spoiler

Preliminary (3/12 eps)
I'm an elitist pig anime watcher, and while I act like I know something (and literally know nothing), there is one true aspect I'm an expert in - overpowered MC trash. Is this show generic? Yes. Is it stupid? Yes. Is it genuinely pretty good? In my opinion, 100%.

A big fan of the manga, the backstory of the main characters turn out to be great. Rick's party Orihalcon Fist is fun on screen, the waifus are cute, and the production is surprisingly good. While the world building and magic system is rehashed and generic, the self-aware humour keeps it a little fresh and the lovable ...

The Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party, Became Invincible – When you grow up too late in life, there’s no such saying as “you’re too old to learn anything”. For “It’s never too late, for with a purpose, a worthy goal, and a motivation to reach those upper layers on the pyramid, a person can travel further in a few years than he might otherwise travel in a lifetime.” - Earl Nightingale

If there’s one thing that I have learned through watching anime with the passing seasons and years, it’s the culmination of this one fact, quoted from Will Ferrell: “No ...

Being in my late 20s as of the point of writing, and as a new anime watcher with less than a year of experience. I always wondered, had I started too late to do anything, be it trying a new sport or experience, when comparing to people who started in their teens or younger and have tons of experience?

This show is a good example of a simple concept show that is inspirational and shows that hard work overcomes born talent. While the concept is definitely done a thousand times by now, what make the show stood out for me is the use of an over ...

Anime Name is "The Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party, Became Invincible"

This anime sounds generic but is one of the better ones. The story is about a character who trains hard with the strongest party and becomes invincible. At first, he pretends to be weak, which is explained by the third episode.

The main issue is the pacing. Fight scenes have too much talking, making them feel stretched. For example, a single fight can take a whole episode, which can get boring.

The animation is decent, better than some other fantasy animes but not top-notch. Some jokes and moments are ...

Cliche-filled slop that yet never manages to piss me off because it's not taking itself seriously, and ends up being a pretty entertaining story.
Don't think too hard about it and just watch - It's good. The main cast is great, and while the pacing dies a little towards the end, at no point the anime gets egregiously bad in any aspect, which is more than what can be said about the most of them.

Solid and easy 8, I'd watch S2 if it came out. This is the proof you don't need to be original or do something special, you just need to do things that ...

If you like seeing two buff dudes beat the shit out of each other with their bare hands you're gonna love this show. It started off as a decent but fairly stereotypical fantasy show. It had it's moments early on but it wasn't anything too special. However the final 4 episodes were so well done. The fight scenes, dialogue, and storytelling were so amazing that i have to give this show a 10. Genuinely some of the best fight scene's I've seen in an anime in a long time were in those 4 episodes. I really hope they make a season 2.

Ossan Newbie Adventurer (skipping the full title) is One Punch Man in another generic medieval fantasy anime world, but is actually quite good.

A good comparison would be how different it is to Mashle, which is One Punch Man in a generic magic school world.

Unlike Mash who is a teenager (shonen), this is a grown man in his thirties. He doesn't care or want to process teenage drama. He knows and understands when a woman likes him. He doesn't try too hard or none at all with his love interest

Though a comedy, it's quite self-aware and the MC doesn't do the kind of over-the-top, ...

I really liked this anime. I looked forward to it every week. The characters were easy to like and it was engaging. That said, it was also predictable in places and never quite did more than expected of it, but that was not necessarily a bad thing. I had a good time and I didn't get bored. In some ways the lack of uniqueness was surprising to me considering the premise is unique in itself since the main character is in his 30's instead of late teens/early 20's. I was kind of hoping the story would try to break new ground in other ways too ...

The storyline is great, the humor is on point, and the friendships between the characters are heartwarming. Just judging by the title, you might think it’s like other anime where the protagonist is overpowered to the point of being boring—but this one is different! The characters are well-developed and perfectly suited to the story, each bringing a unique charm that enhances the plot. They have their own strengths and flaws, making them relatable and engaging. Rather than feeling one-dimensional or overly powerful, they react to situations in ways that feel natural and realistic, adding depth to the story. Each character’s personality complements the others, creating ...

Avid anime watcher here and I wanna weigh in on most opinions posted and how the anime has progressed to its current point. Considering there’s a quite a few of mixed reviews out there I wanna share just how great this anime is
Plot: Yes I understand it’s generic isekai attitude towards the series but to be fair the plot and character development is by far better than most anime’s I’ve seen. They’ve been able to progress smoothly and show the differences in strength to this point in the show. While most anime’s (spoiler) have various bouts of strength included in them such as but not ...

A fairly generic OP protag comedy fantasy, this one starts off kind of iffy for the first six episodes but gets WAY better in the second half.

We've got Rick, our MC, who is in his early 30s and just getting started as an adventurer. At first, he thinks he's got a long way to go to catch up to all these veteran adventurers around him who started much younger than him, but soon he realizes that due to his intense training, he's already got the power of an S-Rank adventurer despite just starting out. Cool, we get the OP thing and a few oblivious ...

Quitting his job as a guild receptionist to make his dream come true - makes one think this dude had a middle age crisis, anyway, he decided to become an adventurer with the ultimate goal of slaying the legendary beast.

In a world where you have to start magic training in your teens because it will only get harder/impossible to improve the older you get, we have our Mc who is “40 ish”.

We have smooth animation, no clay doll cgi (thank god), magic, swords, martial arts, vampire loli, orc with healing magic, dwarf whom crafts guns!

There is nothing new here but this show is definitely ...

This is an anime that won't break any new ground and doesn't dig deep into world-building, characters, or overall story........and while there are many other anime that shares such "cons"..........this anime is one the very few anime that isn't completely unenjoyable.

While several characters are introduced, Rick and Angelica are really the only people that the show cares to invest in.

There's also the cliche niches; such as an over-powered mc, bratty bullies that get humbled, former bully-turned-friend, even more OP mentors of the MC, etc........

This show is not going to "wow" you in any regard.

HOWEVER, it is just entertaining enough that it passes ...

Despite this show's greatest efforts is to be as generic and uninteresting as possible, I was still able to get a bit of enjoyment out of it. The anime follows the protagonist Rick who is trying to become an adventurer in his early thirties. People tell him he's too old, but he doesn't give up.

As someone also in their early thirties, the theme resonated with me. Often I can feel that I missed out on a lot of things when I was younger, but that's the wrong mindset. It's never too late to start out something new, and improve yourself. Despite the personal theme, the ...

This was my personal sleeper hit of the season. I can imagine it won’t appeal to everyone, but I imagine this will scratch the itch for us old school Shonen people that grew up on this sort of thing. Sure it modernizes it well too, but it has a great core of that old school battle Shonen type feel.

It reminded me of being a kid watching Dragon Ball, and watching people just fight to become the strongest in the world. It also does the seemingly new found trope of the older than usual protagonist storyline and how it is never too late to become ...

Worth the watch if you like a campy, goofy, yet quite entertaining show. It needs a bit to gain steam but look, this show is meant to be campy and derpy (the theme song 100% reflects the mood) with some good character development and backstories under the hood.

My martial arts background might help lift this shows appeal for me because I really like some of the creative ways they handle the fights and techniques the characters use.

Some people are calling the MC an idiot but they didn't watch enough of the show. The MC starts off naive because he was intentionally misled during his ...

Action-adventure anime featuring a man over 30 appears to be one of the most popular genres in the anime scene at the moment, and I have watched four already in the last 12 months. If "Former NBA player Brian Scalabrine is closer to LeBron James than the street ballers are to him," then "Ossan Newbie Adventurer" is closer to the quality of "Kaiju No. 8" than the mediocrity of "I 'Parry' Everything" and "A Playthrough of a Certain Dude's VRMMO Life."

Here are some of the pros and cons of this anime.

when I first started it and he didn't realize he was OP I was so annoyed and planned on dropping it BUT I am so happy I didn't they explained why he thought that and he ACTUALLY HAD COMMON SENSE and figured it out and the show wasn't centered on his depression of being weak or his strength it actually had depth every character did which was so refreshing after "I parry everything" this was 100x better than that this is how that mc should've been I admit it had its weak points but compared to everything that has been getting released in this genre ...

This anime surprised me. From the outside it looked like another generic fantasy anime with an OP mc. However, this anime breaks away from these cliches. For one, the mc isn't the strongest, there are at least 4 people stronger than he his. Also he realizes very quickly that he is very powerful compared to the average fighter. He doesn't spend the entire show oblivious of his true strength unlike a certain Parrying anime. The mc also mentors other fighters to become stronger. Overall I enjoyed this anime. The animation was good and I will definitely be waiting for a season 2.

As an aside: I cannot believe this was adapted from a manga. I was so confident in my misconception that this was originally a novel because the JP webnovel "Ossan Boukensha no Jimichi na Isekai Tabi" which is a COMPLETELY different story than this show, "Shinmai Ossan Boukensha, Saikyou Party ni Shinu hodo Kitaerarete Muteki ni Naru," have such similar names. Yes I don't actually know that much Japanese, so I just thought that it'd be impossible for there to be two different series with "Ossan Boukensha" as the main title. So when I went and looked at the adaptation material, color me surprised when ...
