Usually I wait until the end of a season to write a review, but I think I've seen enough with 12 episodes.
The second season of this show is an example of what happens when a studio gets greedy and just tries to cash out. I struggle to find any other reason why this show looks as awful as Blue Lock does.
Unfortunately, Blue Lock went the route of forgetting what made it good in its previous season.
Whether the rumours are true or not that one animator solely worked on a couple of episodes, it is quite evident that staff were worked thin coupled with potential mismanagement

Okay, look, I get that sports anime is always over the top absurd and I actually really love that a lot about the genre. It doesn't maybe make sense most of the time, but it's enjoyable and fun.
So I don't mind that Blue Lock doesn't make much sense in connection with real football, but it takes itself way too seriously to overlook it's fouls (Fouls, haha!). The overly repeated edgy concept of "ego" and "selfishness" in context with a team sport feels completely off and I keep wondering if the future of the manga holds some moral twist, where it's revealed it was just a ... Just a rant about the horrible production. I won't be reviewing the story or the characters or anything else, just a rant about the god awful production of 8bit. So yeah, I don't recommend you to watch this show, just read the manga (or some fan made manga animations, it is basically the same as what is delivered in the show) and then watch the last episode. It is the only worthwhile episode anyway.
First off, my actual enjoyment was way higher than just 1/10, I'd give it like a 3/10 and a bonus point for the final episode so let's be generous and say it's ... Nov 16, 2024
I don't do mid-season reviews, but sometimes you run into a series you just can't finish and this is one of those times. Seven episodes was too many.
This is painful. I'm a big fan of the manga and I remember some of these scenes well. They stood out in the manga for just how hype and fast-paced they were. Now... they're just drained of everything. The pacing is weird, the shots range from bad to OK, and even when things do look pretty decent, I just can't help feeling like I'd rather just re-read these chapters. It would be one thing if they could manage ... Oct 28, 2024
This show is an absolute trainwreck. What a colossal waste of time! The story had so much potential, and they’ve gone and destroyed every last bit of it. The animation is garbage, the pacing is garbage, the entire season is GARBAGE! Seriously, don't waste a single second on this trash when there are amazing shows out there like AoAshi. This whole season deserves to be dropped and remade from scratch by a studio that actually cares. I will never forgive 8bit for ruining the best arc in the story
DONT WATCH THIS RETARDED SHOW FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE Dec 22, 2024
When blue lock came out, I thought It was average and I forgot about it. Its not like I did not know where the hype came from. I knew exactly the same reason Blue lock was hyped is the same reason Chainsaw man was hyped. It appealed to edgelords and it had the rule of cool with the animation. I knew the hype like Chainsaw man was going to fade because shock value instead of story can only work for so long. Now we are at Season 2 and blue lock lost all its hype like I predicted because the animation is subpar. Its a

I've just dicovered Blue Lock and binged it. I loved it! It was very fun to watch..... at least, the first season.
Everybody knows the animation in season 2 is atrocious, but the worst part of it, in my opinion, is how dull the characters and story felt. This is one of the biggest wastes of potential I've ever seen. Not just because of the disastrous animation, but because the plot and characters became boring. STORY: Since the entire season is a normal football match, it basically lost the goal (pun intended) of the story. Blue Lock was all about a twisted selection where the only applying rule is ... Let me talk about BlueLock, because wow, I have some feelings. Season 1? It was interesting. I'll give it that. It took a sports anime cliché, chewed it up, and spit out something fresh. Forget unity and teamwork—this was about egoism. Everyone wanted to be the star, and honestly, it was a unique, refreshing take. The first episode hit hard: crisp visuals, fiery characters, and enough intensity to make you think, "Yeah, this might be one of the best sports anime ever."
And then… episode 2 happened. The animation stumbled, not faceplanting, but enough to make you notice. It wasn't bad—it was "above average," let's say. ... Dec 28, 2024
Blue Lock season 2 was a complete disappointment. It's not just that the animation quality was garbage, or that the whole season is dedicated to pretty much only one match (though these points do make it worse), but, for me, the series has stopped working in season 2.
Season 1 introduced great characters, the concept of ego, and a competition dynamic. But season 2 feels a little like the series doesn't know where to go from here. The formula is starting to be the same: Isagi starts as the underdog and ends of doing something awesome. The supporting characters are interesting, but I don't think they ... Previous - |
