Animation: Tye first season is undoubtedly better in overall animation but the ending sequence of the match in season 2 is the part that redeems the animation of season 2. The studio staff were over worked and underpaid. I expect the next season to be better because it's a kind of anime series that goes viral and makes money for those money hungry assholes that don't care about the staff.
Story: The story is over the top as always. It takes every aspect of football to the extreme. But it's quite enjoyable.
Personal opinion: I rather enjoyed the series and would recommend to watch it. For

if you are wondering whether to watch it or not, its amazing, it starts off bad and most of the bad reviews came at that time, after 6th ep it gets better and better if you liked 1st season then definitely give it a try, specially last ep was excellent
Storytelling: vs U-20 was the first big milestone for the team and this match was pretty well written for sports animes, you could feel the pressure and excitement during this whole match, backstories were good but few Characters: every character was written wonderfully, they showed their emotions very well and it was quite motivating for viewers Animation: first ... To begin with, I have to say that this season was nothing short of Incredible in many aspects. Despite the animation quality, which might not meet everyone's expectations, the story itself and the events that unfolded were truly remarkable and engaging. There were moments that kept me on the edge of my seat. One highlight that stands out is the ending animation, which I found absolutely jaw-dropping and visually stunning. As for whether I would recommend this season to others, my answer is a resounding yes. However, I must also add that I can't guarantee that you will be watching it to your heart's content.

Frankly, I'm pleased with this season of Blue Lock, especially the last 2 episodes, which are really excellent (if they were the only ones, I'd probably have gone up to 7/10 with no problem).
So I know there was some debate about the animation, which admittedly isn't that great, but frankly it didn't bother me in the slightest, because unlike other anime, this sluggish animation is compensated for by very good direction that makes the viewing more timid and conveys what's going on in the players' heads. For example, in the penultimate episode, when Rin realizes he's not alone, there's a maudlin scene with his childhood ... Dec 29, 2024
Last 4 episodes pushed the anime for me to good territory (7/10) but ill give the season an extra point for the amazing music and sound direction def elevated the critical moments of the show. The only reason i pushed through this seasons beggining was the story which is still hype.
Defenetly suffers from inconsistency but you wanna see how Yoichi will enter his flow, and the rivalry of the Sae brothers reach its pinacle, which pais 10fold. Its as cringy as ever as well and you cant avoid rolling your eyes sometimes, but if you just give in and drop your disbelief there is a lot ... Jan 22, 2025
Sports anime are always fascinating to me: the plot is almost always completely secondary or straight-up non-existent, you KNOW eventually your protagonists are gonna triumph and the real question is often not if but how. A good sports anime’s job is to artificially create uncertainty and make you forget that. Furthermore, these have to rely heavily on an ensemble of characters and great characterization of the cast.
Blue Lock does these things pretty well. It starts from the unusual premise of egoism rather than the usual “power of friendship” often dragged by the genre, and twists this premise at will when required for the plot. ... Dec 30, 2024
A 2nd season with stumbles but still enjoyable in each episode.
We are not going to lie and we have to talk about the pink elephant in the room. The animation is of low quality, regardless of who is to blame, whether it is 8bit or Bandai Namco, the quality that was given to the work is not what was expected from a franchise that managed to establish itself as one of the best-selling works of its year. As for the art section, I don't think there are any complaints, the designs were improved, the characters gained muscle mass and already had more of a soccer ... Dec 28, 2024
I understand the perspective of people who dislike what it is compared to 1st one but it is good enough when it comes to animation. The most important parts are animated perfectly and the in-between stuff is not ideal despite this drawback I still consider it very good the story has good pacing it's slower than 1st sezon but it allows for more background information on different characters. Considering whole 14 episodes it is definitely worth watching.
I don't think the quality is bad enough to consider dropping out if you liked 1st you will definitely like this one, but watch till the end and you ... Apr 15, 2025
Having watched Season 1 two years ago, and seeing the discourse online in regards to the quality of Season 2, I went in with fairly low expectations, but was presently surprised! Episode 1 was great from a quality standpoint, but there was undoubtedly a quality drop-off from then on. HOWEVER, the U-20 game itself was great! Were the quality of all the episodes, or certain key frames/moments from the game the best they could've been? No, but it definitely could've been worse. Also, I know episode 14 went viral, not only for it's quality, but just the visual interpretation of the emotion of a certain

Unlike the first season, this one managed to hyped me up and captivate me a lot. I believe that because we finally have a real football match, the anime found its strong point. I don't know if it was intentional, but the idea of developing the characters in advance before a real match made a total difference. I've watched a lot of football anime and this season certainly has some of the most exciting matches of all.
Technically the anime is still very weak, especially in the visual aspects. It's not enough but it's compensatory in its keyframes but it clearly makes the anime lose some ... Dec 28, 2024
You know that saying where your most memorable experience of anything is during the ending? Well Blue Lock is using this to the maximum potential. I don't care what people say about the change in style, I think it was necessary because the first season lacked the energy because the models were drawn way to simple compared to the insane sketches from the Manga panels. With the crispier models it was basically impossible to animate it properly all the way through (you needed a JJK S2 budget) but when they did, you got the master piece we got in the episode 14. They literally

For me, this second season of Blue Lock follows the same dynamic as the first. The story is interesting, if somewhat repetitive. It's not bad, but not something that will blow your mind either. The funny thing is that it hooks you even if you're not interested in soccer (which is my case). That constant tension and unexpected twists in each episode make you want to watch the next one right away, and in that, the anime knows how to play its cards.
Now, the downside: it feels too focused on a single game that seems to go on forever. At first it's cool because it ... Dec 28, 2024

Like most of you, I immediately noticed the drop in animation quality between season two and season one. Near the end of season one the quality dropped too, but not to the extent of that of season 2.
The first episode of season 2 actually looked very good. But then the following episodes dropped in quality quickly. The animation was very minimal. It almost appeared like that of a slideshow. Regardless, I kept watching because I was still invested in the characters and the plot. The animation improved slightly as the episodes continued, but not by much. However the final episode of the season is ... Dec 28, 2024
This season's animation might have been reaaally lacking but the hype was there. Believe when I say no other anime has gotten me as hyped as this one after a goal, it's mindblowingly genius direction. How they capture the spectator's reactions and expressions and the player's celebration is so thrilling!
Putting that aside, like in season 1, all characters are interesting and have very dinstinct personalities, which are really enjoyable to observe when they interact with each other. The goals are not predictable, the choices the players make aren't either which is really important in aanime nowadays. All this to say this is an all-around great ... Dec 28, 2024
I don't want to write too much cause I'm lost for words.
Yes the animation might now have been that good at the start but this is genuinely one of the best pieces of media and Anime ever. The last two episodes just made me have the biggest orgasm ever. I love Bachira, Isagi and Nagi the most (as well as Kaiser but thats Manga stuff) they are just so well written in my opinion, I just love Bachira since his playstyle is so damn awesome and so enjoyable. Nagi cause he has such a good skill And Isagi since he has such epic scenes which made me stand up I ... Jan 30, 2025
It is definitely a masterpiece, even for those of you that are not in sports Anime like me. I would say that it is motivating, so recommended on days when you feel down, or through a bad life situation.
Episode 11 is creepy animated, especially with those biological elements, I hope the animators won't do anything similar again and will try to avoid such peculiar comparisons. All in all great. Nice storyline, development, culmination all good, definitely can go farther for multiple seasons. Rather than about football, I would say it is about having different perspectives, can be applied in life in general. Mar 10, 2025
The Blue Lock anime improves in Season 2, much to my surprise. Almost everything is better in this second season.
The pacing: There’s almost no downtime, no boring moments—everything is perfectly handled. The animation: Absolutely stunning. The soundtrack: Both beautiful and diverse. Character development: Much better executed, making it easier to connect with the different players. Positives: The suspense keeps you hooked throughout the entire season. ... Previous - |
