VTuber Nandaga Haishin Kiri Wasuretara Densetsu ni Natteta

Third-generation VTuber Awayuki Kokorone's fans know her as a prim, proper, and graceful idol. Though she has considerably less fans compared to other VTubers in the Live-On agency, Awayuki's loyal following supports her every step of the way.

One night, Awayuki forgets to turn her livestream off—a blunder that changes the trajectory of her online career forever. Contrary to her usual angelic persona, her genuine brutish personality is exposed to more than ten thousand people who tuned in. Awayuki reveals that she is nothing more than a severe alcoholic who spouts profanities nonstop, constantly viewing her fellow VTubers with lustful admiration.

However, instead of being reprimanded by her agency, Awayuki receives praise: her unhinged, disorderly conduct was Live-On's actual expectation of her. Now having her big break and permission to stream without holding anything back, the once-unpopular VTuber begins her rise to stardom.

My evaluation is kinda biased. Because I love GL genre, and I'm a big fan of VTubers, and furthermore I'm alcoholic too. (I really love Becks.) If you have any reason to watch this anime, that's because I assure it can be good gate of watching VTubers!

Unlike the other kind of idols, the true value of VTubers comes out whenever they get honesty. Just the case of Awayuki is same, too. When she showed herself more alcoholic and unfiltered self, her stream is more interesting and touching to viewers. The funner streamers feel, the enjoyable the show is, and it's how the VTuber streams work!

I ... want to end up this review by quoting my favorite VTuber, Amelia Watson:
"I hope you guys also can carve out your own happiness in the world. Find your own slice of happiness. Everybody's success looks different."

Mixed Feelings

I don't really understand Vtuber culture so I can't judge accurately because this is a really new show in anime. But I will judge logically according to my perspective. So from the storyline telling about a Vtuber who became very famous because of his unintentional negligence but was liked by his fans and colleagues, basically it only tells about his daily life along with his professional activities which are spiced up with sexual humor that tends more towards shojo ai. It takes patience to be able to enjoy this anime because you will be faced with a lot of chat interactions between characters and NPCs ... aka audiences which are sometimes just like a chat panel on social media which is quite difficult to follow because it passes so quickly, especially if we have to translate it into a language that we understand. It will be very troublesome and boring because you have to pause this anime video often in order to understand the storyline. And this should be an anime that tells the real Vtuber culture but I can't see it or distinguish it because there is no difference between the Vtuber character and the real character, the only difference is the presence of 2.5D animated characters, and it doesn't explain the reference for making Vtuber characters whether from the original appearance of the real character or just the imagination of the character creator in the story, and the lack of the appearance of NPCs that are not related to the story are only depicted with markers that are not similar to human appearance, maybe this is just my prejudice that considers it as the uniqueness of this anime's background.

So my conclusion for this anime, it is unique in some senses but not impressive enough to make me interested in Vtuber culture, maybe the advantages of this anime are only a place for voice actors to improve their skills by imitating some unique characters in this anime.

Like 'My Deer Friend Nokotan,' it is one of those shows that you will appreciate if you get the references. But if not, it depends on you liking the VTuber main character.

The premise is simple. Kokorone Awayuki was a struggling VTuber. She quit the job that she hates in order to be a VTuber, but it looks like being one ain't no different. For three months, she wasn't making any progress. Until one day, she forgot to stop streaming. So from the demure persona she was projecting, she got drunk and the world saw her real personality, someone who is unhinged. And the rest ... is the story of this anime.

It's a hit or miss, and I am scoring this low because it's more often than not a miss as far as I'm concerned. There's really no plot to talk about. This is just random VTubers doing their own thing that may or may not be funny.

Some episodes are a bit enjoyable but more often than not, it is too random that the main draw is the banter. Perhaps you need some knowledge of Japanese to appreciate this, as well as being into VTuber culture. It's not something that invites those not knowledgeable of VTubers to watch real VTubers. It assumes that you already like them. For people in the latter case, they would likely score this high, but for most people, this would be a turd.

If you cannot follow the references, this show will be mainly carried by the drunk personality of Awayuki, named Shuwa. It was fun at the beginning, but it quickly got old. It's also a season-long commercial for Strong Zero, which might annoy some.

Another thing going for it is that it reflects current otaku culture with all the new terms associated with it. This may interest some but I doubt it's enough to recommend this.

NOTA BENE: A grade of 3 out of 10 means that I did not enjoy watching this anime despite being either well-regarded or at least popular, or perhaps I happened to rank them below my 4's.
