To say that novelist Ren Eguchi's Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi a.k.a Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill is the now-famed studio MAPPA's first-ever undertaking of the Isekai genre, to have people say that this show is MAPPA's Peak-sekai, it's not entirely baseless at all. No doubt it ... is great in an overall package, and for the very first time, MAPPA DID knock it out of the park for showcasing a decent Isekai.

I'm not going to paraphrase the same copy-paste tactics here, everyone, new or old, must have or has had the idea of the typical "summoned to another world" trait. And this is the same here for the MC: the 27-year-old Tsuyoshi Mukouda a.k.a "Mukohda", the mild-mannered but cowardly white-collar salaryman, and at the same time, a very proficient cook. Usually when Earth's people get Isekai-ed into another world, the "Hero's Party" group will consist of young high school students to help the kingdom in need to purge the demonfolk, typical Isekai stuff. But in this show, it's the typical round-up student crew and Mukohda himself who is arranged in line for this "Heroes vs. Demon Lord" story plot, and other than the 3 students, Mukohda himself has the power of "Online Supermarket", which in a battle, would be entirely useless, not being beneficial and a deadweight to the group. And it's with this intent that Mukohda simply ousts himself out of the Isekai race, convincing the nobles and letting him go scot free around the fantasy world.

But, as it turns out, Mukohda's "Online Supermarket" ability is actually very versatile, and that it allows him to order food and food-related products, straight from Earth. Think of it as like the Hello Fresh, Blue Apron or Home Chef meal delivery service in the U.S., but Aeon for Japan. This enables Mukohda to use his skill and purchase ingredients and prep items, all of which serves also as buffing items to temporarily boost stats. And it's a fierce combination of utility and power (that thankfully isn't OP at all), so much so that from a very long distance, it got the attention of the legendary wolf-like beast known as Fenrir...who demands that the salaryman himself feed him a meal. And the meals are so good that Fenrir immediately asks for seconds, that Mukohda spends the rest of his manhours making heaps of food for its satisfaction, enough to earn (or rather, force) him into a familiar contract. Together, Mukohda and Fenrir (evenutally named Fel), they journey through the lands, encountering more monsters and gods from the Spirit Realm, granting him familiar contracts and blessings in exchange for his food and otherworldly goods.

Cooking Isekai is a realistic adventure fantasy that's a gourmet comedy feast for the eyes, owing to its chill-pill, take-your-own-time slow beat that I honestly don't mind if the author knows what he's doing. And Ren Eguchi is intentionally making the series feel slow in regards to the overall world-building, so that the message will eventually wind up on what shows up on the plate itself, it's a mark of great balance between characterization and the atmopshere of the fantasy world around them.

The characters are what shines in Cooking Isekai, because they are tons of fun. Starting off with Mukohda's first familiar, the legendary Fel has lived for over a thousand years, and his personality is owed to his extraordinary strength, agility, and magic that enables him to wipe out most monsters with little effort...VERY little effort, I must say, for more varieties of meat. To the point that he is very boasting of his pride, selfishness, and gluttonous, choosing to follow Mukohda just simply to eat his food. Being a meat-lover, he obviously loves meat and hates vegetables, much to the scorn that when Mukohda has to fix a meal that involves vegetables, he must be thoughtful to hide it by blending ingredients that mask the flavours of the greens, much akin to a parent feeding his/her child with bite-sized offerings that look the same, but taste the same and not too different as to showcase the yuckiness of the hated greens. Mukohda's second familiar is Sui, the slime that's of child-like adorableness. Initially met as a baby, with the typical conception that slimes are weak, it evolves by gaining experience through battle and eating trash from Mukohda's Online Supermarket purchases, and this is what Sui's uniqueness is noted for being a special exception. It is able to melt enemies with acid bullets, as well as create potions and weapons, while enjoying desserts and disliking spicy foods. Mukohda himself is a level-headed character, though he's seemingly the innocent one who has to tolerate both familiars that he's the closest to (or rather, it's Fel who's always giving him the never-ending troubles), making sure that they're well fed and tagged along like a parent does holding his own children along the fantasy ride.

Remember that there aren't just monsters, but gods in the world too? One such Spirit Realm deity is Ninrir, the Goddess of Wind and the progenitor of Fel's Fenrir kind. Being notable by her long silver-colored hair and a huge sweet tooth, she is the first deity to grant Mukohda her blessing, giving him immunity to poisons, illnesses, and other negative status effects. But this is also due in exchange of an offering for sweets from his own world back in Japan. Due to her constant demands and frequent emotional outbursts, Mukohda refers to her as the "divine disappointment", which I thought was really funny, because her interest spiked the other deities to do the same towards Mukohda, draining more of his resources in exchange for their own tastes in desired offerings, amplifying the disappointment he had for the divine deities as a whole. It's a "dog-eat-dog" world for Mukohda, the disappointment that his familiars and gods must go first before him, but still coming out on his own inventions replicated like a MasterChef in another world and having the delight of his life, this second chance of a life is something that if you ask him of his thoughts, it's a life that he would not trade for anything else.

The most surprising aspect is of the animation studio chosen, because generally studios are only contracted for the production jobs they are offered for all kinds of shows, and in Cooking Isekai's case, it's MAPPA driving the wheel for this show, under one of its low-key directors of Kiyoshi Matsuda. The director for MAPPA's rather subpar shows like Kakegurui×× (Season 2), Uchi Tama?! Uchi no Tama Shirimasen ka?, and most recently with Summer 2021's Re-Main (co-director with chief Masafumi Nishida), it doesn't feel like this man should be given the more recent high/top-priority shows like Chainsaw Man or Jigokuraku a.k.a Hell's Paradise, simply because his work ethic would not suit this show that he's working on. Nevertheless, the MAPPA magic shines here just the same like in the famed studio's recent shows, with gorgeous visuals and beautiful animation, especially in the cooking segments that will make one salivate at the mouth. Since when did food become so good to look at, since Isekai Shokudou and Shokugeki no Soma, that this show feels like a wild ride in fusing modern inventions for a medieval world. It's that engrossing in style and substance.

The OST is just typical fine for an Isekai series like this. Van de Shop's debut Anisong sounds decent, and is a relative good time that mixes well with the alluring visuals. In the same vein, Yuuma Uchida's ED "Happy-go-Journey" sounds pedestrian as well, so no complaints there. Just a tad mediocre to the best that is just alright to my ears.

Cooking Isekai is a breath of fresh air in the slew of copy-paste Isekai shows this season. Though this show is one of the best we've seen all season, thanks to it not being an OP power fantasy, but it's just simply, a campy, laid-back life of a good time.

A good job there MAPPA, looking forward to your next Isekai rondo.

For starters we get the general Isekai situation, getting transported into another world, only for our main boy Mukohda to figure out his special skill is Online Grocery. Which he can buy and summon food from his world. Not being a hero or anything he parted ways with the others, but little did ... he know his skill is probably the best out there in terms of living a luxury life in this new world. He gets a super strong familiar later on that'll help him hunt for great meat to use in cooking.

As far as story goes well the story is really slow. They're mainly focusing on making some tasty dishes.

Though like I said this anime is all about cooking, and making you want to cook or eat really delicious food. I advise not to watch it or you'll get hungry lol.

Ah yes. Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill. A worthy name for a refreshing take on isekai. Or is it?
I'm not going to beat around the bush. I could tell you in a 10.000-word essay written by Chat GPT that this is another tropy isekai with bland and shallow characters, stuffed into a story that can be summarized in two words that brings nothing new to the table.
But I will focus on something else. Keyword: Bringing something to the table.
This anime is going to drive you into insanity. At some point, I just couldn't bear it any longer. I spend ... all my savings and ordered a full-fledged industrial kitchen aisle and isekai-prayged that shit into whatever twisted universe this anime is real in. Here's why: The MC is the biggest doofus Isekai has ever managed to bring up. In fact, I don't understand why he himself is not losing his coconut doing what he is doing. The whole plot and therefore MC's whole existential purpose is to feed his little "family" which consists of an insatiable slime that devours everything that enters his jello body and an ever-glutenous demi-god wolf.
Imagine if every damn Wendy's in Miami would offer free menus to the homeless. That's how much fucking shit he has to cook every day. Fortunately, my man is blessed with the most batshit broken ability the lord of Isekai has ever inspired his hack writers to scribble down. A portal to Walmart. Yes, this guy's ability is ordering stuff at Walmart, Costco, Target or Amazon you name it he can order it. After he sends his fantasy coins into the otherworldly Blockchain the ordered goods appear out of thin air conveniently packaged in a delivery cardboard box. Don't even get me started on all the food packaging his slime has to absorb. I wish the show would educate people about buying unpackaged food. Although every corn of pepper this guy orders comes pre-packaged in its own plastic seal. But I'm getting sidetracked.
So how would you think MasterChef prepares his unholy amounts of food? Well, the title of the show could maybe cause the assumption that this anime is about camping. But oh my that's not the case. It's called campfire cooking because the only cooking utensil Isekai-Gordon dares to use is a mini camping gas stove. Yes, you heard me correctly this man prepares the amount of food you could use to turn every living person in Zimbabwe obese with, on a fucking camping stove. It would take him mere seconds to let a whole industrial kitchen aisle appear at his command. Yet that motherducker keeps boiling every single meatball he produces, every single grain of rice he cooks separately on his teeny tiny camping stove. My man spends the whole day cooking on a gas burner when he could just order a full-fledged kitchen. I swear you get ocd watching this show.
If you need to get a quick tour into the psych ward or want to uncontrollably order kitchen appliances then go for it. Else, I wouldnt recommend.

There was simply no need to make Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill,(obviously a light novel you can tell by the name) an Isekai anime, It is an anime about food and Realistically speaking most food that is made mimics their real-life counterpart and the ingredients that make the Umai (tasty in Japanese) and keep the “Umami” come from Umami land.
“Yeah? then why did you watch it?”
Because it's an Isekai of course ......

Let's face it, This is not the first isekai food anime, I doubt any genre is left unscathed by the isekai Truck (hehe :p) so let's just jump into why ... this exists and Actually make a compelling watch.

All food-based anime does have a general formula:-

1)Have Mascots/ Hot girls
2)Make said Mascots/Hot girls Cream themselves while eating the “very superior Japanese Cuisine” (Seriously I am Indian so any Cuisine other than Indian is basically Weak AF salt and pepper bs).
3)The animation used in the food scenes Is equivalent to food porn.

Now an Isekai setting is very clever for this kind of requirement, The Isekai setting makes the Creative allowance to have mascots basically limitless, here we have a God-tier legendary Wolf , a cute protectable, and very adorably voiced baby slime, Along with, obviously hot isekai goddesses who love sweets. The ability to anticipate and potentially look forward to the reaction of these mythical creatures reacting to our seemingly ‘Alien for them’ food, and the very spectacular animation and art in the cooking scenes does improve the watching experience and makes the otherwise dull setting into an actual passable and enjoyable watch.

the absolutely loyal Isekai community, or rather, the unyielding evil sludge that would consume anything isekai (yeah that's how they look at us) was an easy sell which was a smart move by both mappa, who are running dry of cash, and the author who certainly made a buck with this, knew what they were doing when they made this one.


The whole anime initially feels like a commercial for Japanese restaurants, I really can't think of any in-depth review, the Characters the Story, and the plot is easily just an average 5/10, No real story is in the makes and no character development is in sight for the already mediocre characters. it's just that the MC meets either a new character X makes some food with some weird-looking monster, Fel and Sui kill them monsters while the MC is cowering or running with fear, or the eat and cream moments.

Sound and VA 9/10
Surprisingly well-made Ost along with really nice OP and ED which are chill and Upbeat, THe VOice acting of Fenrir and Sui is done well, and THe cooking is accompanied by really good gourmet sounds of sizzling and an ensemble of cookware clattering. As expected of mappa, many say that their animation needs work, but a few only know that the real magic that mappa brings with them is the OST and Music. (ever seen anyone hate chainsaw man or AOT OST? Those are just a few examples)

Animation and art 8/10
I personally loved the art that was used in the ED, the art in the anime in general is ok at best but the budget climbs sharply during the cooking sessions with a real jump in animation as well. The fight scenes are never the focus but are done reasonably well.


This is good popcorn fun for anyone, but I would definitely suggest bringing something more satisfying than popcorn when you are watching this, It will definitely make you crave some Food.

Simply put, Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi a waste of time. Being a series made by Mappa, also being an isekai, I figured this was an easy watch. It was not that, it was just a cooking show with a wolf, cool. 12 episodes with 0 plot, basically the only fan service was bright colorful food, which is the best part of the show, seeing the food. It's very rare to come across an anime that refuses to have basic storytelling, but Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi pulls that off. This is the lowest effort a studio can ... give. A thoroughly disappointing series from such a reputable studio. If this is what Mappa is wasting time on, my advice to them would be this, less is more. Don't release garbage.

Animation 7/10
- The food is drawn well, the beasts are also done well, but the backgrounds can be muddy looking when they are outside.
Sound 6/10
- OP/ED are meh, SE are not great, and voice acting is just okay, nothing sound wise stands out.
Story 1/10
- This is rare for me to rate something under a 5 in any category for my scoring, but seriously, I can't in good conscience give this anything but a 1 story wise, because there is no story, this is slice of life cooking channel, and that's it.
Characters 4/10
- Another aspect of this series that just isn't remotely good. Main character has zero growth, doesn't use his abilities to their full potential, even after realizing the potential. Sui is cute, Fel is just an OP wolf, the goddesses are rarely seen or heard from.
Enjoyment 5/10
- This series had potential when it started, but then halfway into it, I was just watching it for completion. Like a lot of series in winter 2023, they had potential, and then became a fart in the wind.

I can't recommend this to anyone. If you like drawn food, go play Final Fantasy 15. Then again Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi is on par with FF15 in its trashiness, so maybe that's not a good idea. Either way, stay away from this waste of time, there are so much anime out there.

If you have ever wanted a wholesome anime with PERFECT animation, character(s), premise with no unnecessary dramas/conflict for the sake of it, this is THE one to watch. Not a fan of isekai due to their usual cliche and tropes but I gave the first episode a chance because of MAPPA and boy was I NOT DISAPPOINTED! This immediately became one of my favorite series ever. Love every moments of it. Tip: DO NOT WATCH THIS AT NIGHT with a hungry stomach. The food animations are next level and will keep you drooling!

They brought a fresh take to the isekai genre and none of that ... usual fan service. Characters aren't obnoxious and they are all very chill. I felt like this is one of the very few series where you can literally introduce it to any kind of audience and they would love it.

This is genuinely one of the best isekai I've ever seen especially in a genre that relies on anime girls bouncing their t1ts as a stronghold to get all the kids interested. This anime reminds me of a chill, something I could watch and get done in a day or two, or something I could just watch anywhere overall and of course the art is beautiful its calming it has a nice story some lose ends like how does his power work how come he somehow gets online shopping and what happened to the others how do their power work, but then again this ... is an anime not a marvel movie lol, but perfect non the less I genuinely hope the genre isekai can take a lot of inspiration from this anime because this proves u do not needs anime girls bouncing their big uwu t1ts around to make an anime interesting. Prefect anime def one of my fav reminds me of reincarnated as a slime in the aspect of just calming and beautiful story line and reminds me of bofuri in just adventure and art wise MAPPA DID ITS THING ON THIS.

I know there is a lot of people saying that this series has no plot, but really the plot is a laidback trip through a new world with funny scenarios and great "friends". I loved that the series is focused on the traveling, the MC relationship with his familiars and the intro of yummy food. You might gain some weight for sure!!! I felt hungry after each episode!

It is a low angst laidback series, so if you are looking for tons of friction and fighting for "power", this is not the series for you. So far the anime follows the manga version of the ... series, the light novel version is a bit less funny and there are tons of discrepancies between the manga and the LN. I found that the manga version is funnier than the LN, thus I enjoyed the anime series. The only thing I do not enjoyed so far, are the goddesses, they are a pain!!!!!!

I can understand that this series is for a more adult audience than your regular everyday isekai anime. I greatly enjoyed this series and have watched over and over. Can't wait for the next season!

Therefore, if you are looking for a fun, slow paced, and yummy food series, this one is for you. There is no GRAND reason as for why the MC's do what they do, it is just for the simple reason of enjoying each day to the max!

Having a premise like "Online Grocery Shopping in Another World" sounds just as bad as "In Another World With My Smartphone" but I was surprised many times by the actual direction of the show. For one, the main character is a 27 year old salaryman and the moment he gets transported into the world, he pretty much leaves. The rest of the show is just slice of life shenanigans. There's hardly any plot, and the plot that does happen is very basic stuff, but anybody watching gets the feeling that was the goal of the show. To make a fantasy isekai slice-of-life about a guy ... in his late 20's who just really enjoys making food for himself and others. And the main character is basic, don't get me wrong, but he's charming in his own way. For me, what really gets me is how genuinely sympathetic he is towards others, and that does make him seem like a pushover at times, but he's just travelling around the fantasy world doing his own thing minding his own business. It's perfect for a lowkey slice-of-life plot. I ended up liking him a lot more than I thought I would. Some people find "nice MCs" to be boring, but it's not like he has a sacrificial savior complex or whatever. He's just a normal guy who wants to help whenever he can, he doesn't like causing trouble for others, he wants to stay out of the spotlight--and he's fine with taking the backseat and letting his friends do all the work, because at the end of the day, it's his job to bring the crew together for a nice meal at the table. And if you find that wholesome, you'd probably come out of this show with positive feelings

Wholehearted anime about cooking and online shopping in another world. Mappa studio have done a good job in this anime, because the food is looking SO DELICIOUSS.

Not the typical isekaied MC with OP status or fighting skill, in this anime the MC is the weak one with one exception: online shopping skill And his cooking skill. Together with his familiars, they plan to live an adventurer life while eat and cook delicious meals.

If you like to watch fun, simple, and wholehearted anime to pass your time, this anime will do just fine.

Plot
MC summoned to isekai, but finds that he only has a shopping skill, so he drops out of the "hero quest" and goes on an adventure on his own. He meets a fenrir (legendary beast) and basically forms a pact to feed him tasty food (made with ingredients bought from shopping site) in return for being his adventuring partner. The rest is just really peaceful exploring, fenrir hunting meat, MC making delicious meals etc...

There is not plot tbh. This is more of a relaxing watch, where you just enjoy the atmosphere. The character interactions ... are great. Some funny reactions from characters reacting to Fenrir's OPness.

Generally speaking, there's no "waifus" or romance. There are no "demons" or other villains either. Mostly just monsters which MC/Fenrir kill for leveling up or meat or poaching skin/horns to sell. We usually have two cooking sessions per episode, where we have delicious meals prepared by MC for fenrir and himself.

One good thing about this anime is its consistency. If you watch the first couple episodes, you can expect the same kind of content for the rest of the season. The focus is always on the MC, so there's no "side stories" or "twists" either.

I loved this show, but you know who loved it even more? My dad. He does not like isekai anime or more like any anime with a weird premise (only a few exceptions) and he always makes fun of me and my mom when we are watching them, just popping by at random moments when we watch shoujo or isekais or slice of life, and this time was no different, we were watching the first episode, and he was (not) sitting at the sofa, just standing there and making sarcastic comments as usual, but then he starts laughing WITH us instead at us. By this ... moment the anime had like 4 or 5 episodes (don't remember, it's been so many months since, I sorta procrastinated this review until I checked there might be a 2nd season, I literally had no hope, even less because it was MAPPA) and we binged them all just commenting on the food and how we can copy some recipes and laughing at Fel (Fel has now become sorta of an inside joke between us).

We looked forward so much to every episode because my mom loves cooking and we, me and my dad, by extension know a lot about food without actually cooking (sorry!) and sometimes we even ate while watching or watched the episode before dinner because we then we'll stay craving more food, we don't even eat that much! Is just that the food looks reeeeeally good and as my dad said: "The MC has an almost eternal resource of food and therefore all the money that comes from it, has protection for that power and good company" he really has it all, it is truly a feel good anime, and we miss it so much, it even convinced my dad to watch other anime with "weird premises" but we still miss the simplicity of "Fel" yes, that's the name for the anime for us because the original one is just too long.

I don't actually think it's a masterpiece, but I am giving it a 10 because of any possible chance that we might get a 2nd season, 3rd season and so on. Come back!! We also miss Sui! Though I have to be honest; we don't remember the MC name...still miss him ig.

This anime is very solid, but under the right circumstances it can be even more enjoyable. I say that because this is one of the more laid back and chill shows out there. *WARNING* IF YOU TRY AND BINGE THIS ANIME, YOU WILL BE BORED OUT OF YOUR MIND. I watched basically one episode per day, usually before bed because it's relaxing. Under that type of atmosphere, I enjoyed it.

Plot is basically dude gets isekai, but his power is accessing online shopping in another world. Because they think he can't be useful, he starts his own journy. He's also an absurdley amazing chef, so he ... buys a lot of otherworld food and makes kick ass meals. This draws in Fenfir, and he basically makes a contract with the legendary beast in exchange for feeding Fenfir yummy food. Aaaand they go on a journey.

So yeah, it's chillaxing. Not a lot of action. There is A LOT of cooking though- sometimes even comparable to Shokugeki no Soma the way they do it, which is hilarious. Mukouda (the MC), also makes a lot of friends along the way and even makes another contract with a slime (who as you can probably guess, gets very OP). The thing with this anime is that it's kind of cyclic. Mukouda and his familiars go to a new region, they kill (by they I mean Fenfir and Sui the slime) a bunch of animals/beasts, they then eat the animals, and repeat. Oh yeah they also join a guild because ya know, it's isekai and you always have to join a guild. Well two, to be exact. Mukouda is basically useless as a figher, but he makes a lot of money because his otherworldly ingredients are special in this iseka, plus Fenfir keeps killing these OP beasts, which are worth a lot. So he makes a lot of money unnecessarily.

How are the characters? Fenfir is pretty awesome. I love his design and his VA is amazing. I also like his personality. He doesn't BS around, that's for sure. Sui is so goddamn cute. I guarantee you will love it. As for Mukouda? He's alright. He's very timid and weak. The show barely gives him any character growth or depth. He does get an upgrade for his very weak magic abilities, but that's it. I mean, to be fair it's alright because like I said- this isn't a show about powers or ability. It's a very chill show.

So should you watch it? I'd say give it a chance. Go into it with a very particular mindset and you may enjoy it as much as me. If not, eh.

I like the concept of this isekai. It's different from many generic isekais in two ways:
1. Doesn't have girl(s) who follow the MC because they like him
2. He doesn't follow the world plot, but rather makes his own story

I honestly like the all characters of the show except the MC himself. He's a little to immature and cowardly for my liking. Everyone else is likable to watch. I love the light-heartedness and art, especially in the food. Makes it look really good! Just a chill anime to watch when you want to relax. Nothing like some good food and a little bit of fighting! ... It gets a lot of stuff right which makes it a good anime in my eyes: Good animation, likable characters besides MC, decent plot/world-building, and unique. I'd definitely would recommend to any isekai enjoyers.

The food looks delicious, the art is beautiful, the characters are likeable, and there's no stress/anxiety of what's looming ahead! I love this anime and can't WAIT for more episodes. It allows me ... to have something to look forward to!

Campfire Cooking in Another World With My Absurd Skill is one of those anime which I randomly came across. Then, I proceeded to give it a try, as per my instincts. It starts off with a suspenseful and scary scene, where no context is given whatsoever. There is a group of random people, one of them being our protagonist, who are confronted by a large wolf-like creature. It is said to be the legendary Fenrir, the mythical creature who is considered god-like and whose strength is unparalleled. The same Fenrir, is attracted to the MC, because he cooks delicious food. He forms a bond called ... 'Familiar' between the two of them. Up until now, if this casual approach to the Fenrir and also the long title of the anime didn't make the plot clear, I don't know what would. Except, there is barely any moment in this anime where the protagonist ACTUALLY used a campfire to cook food.

Later, the scene shifts to the actual beginning where the main character is summoned into another world by some royalty, and gains the 'super' power to obtain GROCERY ITEMS from his previous world (the real world). And when he was summoned into another world with 3 others who were just a bunch of background characters, he was not surprised in the least bit! It was as if he just woke up in the morning. AND, the entirety of what I told lasted only for like 5 minutes. So the beginning was lacking a bit in terms of plot/ storyline.

Story-wise, this anime isn't all that great, as it is mainly based on cooking and food. It is set in the typical isekai-fantasy world, which kind of resembles the Middle Ages. There is neither any plot progression, nor any great character development. The main character relies on Fel (Name of the Fenrir) for his protection. But again, those are factors that you take into consideration when judging a battle-shonen. Though even as a cooking anime, the main character doesn't really have any goals related to that. He just wants to feed Fel. Now what you would expect from this anime is a vast array of dishes cooked by the protagonist. But the only type of dish cooked by him is MEAT. There should be atleast a tad bit of variety in the base ingredients. Also the pacing is a bit crooked at times. Just because this is a food anime, doesn't mean that the other core elements of an anime should be openly ignored, as they are in this anime. Even the cooking part is not properly focused on. The explanations or the recipes of the food are too short and only a vague idea of what is happening is showcased. So in terms of story, I would rate it a 5/10.

The scenes, the backgrounds, the landscapes, everything is vivid. Contrasted colors along with the right application of shadows and stuff makes almost every scene a feast for the eyes. Everything seems rich and flamboyant. The picturesque beauty of each and every frame really portrays the charm of the world which is so full of life. Everything makes the watcher experience an unknown happiness. The cloudy skies, distant mountains or the green forests add to the beauty of the food which Mukouda-san cooks. The Art in this anime is truly stunning! About the animation, it's nothing that special. Its just decent. Although the quality considerably improves when there is a cooking scene, it is not highlighted to the extent that it should've been. In my opinion, the cooking scenes should've contained more Sakuga, as it is the main attraction of this anime. It lacks a bit in that field. The different meats look pretty realistic, but apart from that, its just basic animation overall. The different sauces should've been more exquisite with fluid animation during the cooking scenes. That being said, the animation gets a 6.5/10 and the art deserves a solid 9/10.

There is not much influence of sound in this, the ending theme was okayish and the only sound effects worth mentioning are the sizzling sounds which are produced when the meat is being cooked or fried. Since there is no variety or distinctive pattern in any of them, I would have to rate it a 4/10.

Even though there isn't a wide collection of characters in this series, the main cast i.e. Mukouda, Fel and Sui are quite interesting. Our MC Mukouda is a bit of a scaredy cat, but is always keen to try out new stuff: both food and adventure. He likes to experiment with different types of meats, regardless of the types of creatures. He learnt a few magic attacks to defend himself, and is also smart as a merchant. Despite being monstrous and scary, Fel is a kind hearted character. He is a big foodie who loves Mukouda's food and is very enthusiastic. He also shows dep affection for Sui. Sui is CUTE AS HELL and STRONG TOO! He is loved both by the MC and Fel! These three form a great trio and I would be interested to see their bond develop. So, I would rate the Characters 7.5/10.

At some moments this anime felt a bit boring and slow-paced, but at times I kinda enjoyed it too. The latter half of this series was especially more enjoyable. A bit of variety in everything would've helped though. That being said, in Enjoyment I rate it 6.5/10.

Overall, Campfire Cooking in Another World With My Absurd Skill is a not-so-bad anime. It contains the usual traits of your typical Isekai anime in some way or the other. But at the same time, this one is a unique one even among the other isekai anime. At times you'll find it boring, at times it'll be interesting. This is a lighthearted anime meant to be taken casually. It doesn't follow a distinct storyline, nor does it have its special moments. I would recommend watching this only if you don't have anything else to watch. It would help in the relaxation of your mind if you've watched something with a heavy plot. Overall, this is a 6/10.

MAPPA's adeptness in delighting its audience is akin to a master chef crafting a delectable dish. In its latest episode, the studio skillfully incorporated scenes that were not present in the original manga, particularly the instance where Fer, a character in the show, blushes in response to being labeled as an overprotective 'boyfriend.' Such creative nuances are akin to seasoning, adding a tantalizing flavor that elevates the viewing experience to a new level of enjoyment.

The level of animation we have been bestowed with is nothing short of remarkable, and it is hardly a surprise considering the involvement of the illustrious MAPPA. I must express my ... admiration for Ren Eguchi's character design, particularly how he has crafted Mukoda Tsuyoshi's effeminate persona, which radiates an aura of maternal warmth equal to a baby girl. Mukoda's character is a veritable embodiment of the notion of 'domestication', of one kind to a tamed and nurtured creature of the wild. He is such a malewife. Well, that's what will Fel thoughts about him, right?

This was one of my favorite anime of its cour. It was light and funny with endearing characters. The comedy revolves primary around what if you had a mythical wolf as your pet, and boy does the humor deliver. The only real downside (but also kind of upside) is that it ended leaving me wanting to know what happens next, but alas it's not returning next week to continue the story. I really hope we get a second season because I will watch it with bells on.

That said, if you're not looking for something a bit light and easy going at times, then this ... might not be the anime for you. However, if you have ever owned a pet and/or enjoy cooking, this will probably be right up your alley

MC gets isekaid to another world, alongside 3 other people, where they all became heroes, but his only magical power is to summon a multidimensional convenience store, where he can buy food, ingredients and several other things. Leaving the hero position for being judged as useless, he decides to use his powers to become a cooker/adventurer, while being forcefully joined by a powerful wolf, that only thinks about eating.

Together they start their adventures, while also making several dishes in the way, using both conventional ingredients from his past world, and several unusual ones from the new one. It is almost like Isekai Shokudou or ... Izakaya Nobu, but instead of a isekai restaurant, you have an amateur cooker doing intinerant cooking, mixed with your average hero guild adventure shenanigans.

Its a pretty mid show, not bad, but also not that good, just enough to be watchable while doing something else. Its simple doesnt requires your full attention, fun and casual, and sticks to its own proposed themes without overpromising.
