Not only is this show's whole concept about "increasing birth rates", it is focused on someone who shouldn't be looking at having children at their age.

Its only redeeming qualities is that none of the characters are overly or overtly sexualized, and the visual style is nice.

I suggest you skip this one. It is a very uncomfortable anime to watch because of the subject matters. If you don't mind stories that encourage the kidnapping of cats and child abandonment, this show might ... be for you, but I felt uncomfortable the whole time I pushed myself through it.

I like comedy. I like romance. I like romantic comedies. I also even like spontaneous anime that doesn't take itself too seriously, such as Gintama.

That said, I didn't feel that this anime does very well in any of these regards. For the comedy, it simply tries way, way, waaaaay too hard to land a joke and attempts to do so far too often. Even worse, the rate that it lands a successful attempt at humor is probably 5% of the time. Due to the efforts to be nigh-constantly "slap your knee" funny, the show makes me feel like I'm on a long road-trip in ... the backseat with an annoying, loud, and attention-seeking younger sibling who has a finger near my face saying "I'm nooooot toooouuuuching yoooou".

When the anime tries to be serious or romantic, I can't take it seriously because I'm expecting some attempt at a gag, parody, or Riri to show up. In a lot of those cases this is exactly what happens.

The more I watched the MC, the more I didn't care about her. It feels like her personality is all over the place and can contradict itself from moment to moment. It's like the writers never came up with a strong foundation for the character and plays around with what she should be from scene to scene.

The only positive is that the animation is fluid and doesn't have a cheap feel to it.

The idea behind the anime is ok, but the execution is sub-par at best.

At the time of writing this review, I dropped this anime, with no plans to ever return and finish the remaining episodes.

If you didn't like the first episode (first 10 min was enough for me) and you feel like there is something wrong because it's highly rated so probably there will be a twist that changes your opinion, drop the anime and ... be grateful for saving your time for a better thing to do.

I can't imagine what the other reviewers are doing by recommending such (I am trying to deliver my feelings, but I can't use the word anime for this ****), it's extremely overrated.

for the sack of the community, I forced myself to watch until episode six where I lost any remaining hope.
It screwed up my weekend, and I don't want to spend more time on it, at the same time I want to save you from falling into the high-rate trap and wasting your time.

The anime deserves 5-6/10, I gave it 1/10 to balance the high rating from other users.

This is the difference between satire and parody. After I announced my frustration with the rom com genre where I finally got fed up with its bullshit in Couple of Cuckoos, I saw the synopsis of this show about a girl absolutely refusing to be part of that bullshit. It was a parody of the genre and I was all for it. There were some really funny jokes in this show shitting on the tropes and cliches. Rom coms are almost always driven by coincidence and contrivances and so this show takes it to the max with literal magic manipulating the events to cause, what ... I like to call, “anime moments”. Like when they fall on top of each other, or run into each other in the halls or when (this is my favorite in this anime) the love interests are forced to live in the same house with each other. This show goes so far over the line to make this shit happen that it’s genius. The only reason this show isn’t higher is because I don’t think it went far enough. It was a parody, not a satire like it should’ve been. Like all the love interests are all cliche. That’s of course part of the joke but it doesn’t stop the fact that they’re not enjoyable or interesting characters. If they were mind controlled to be as boring as possible then that’d be a different story but they are all supposedly real people in the show, so to have them just be the stereotypical archetypes in this parody is kind of underwhelming (especially the childhood friend). This show pokes fun at all the tropes but it doesn’t say anything about them or make them better. Konosuba worked as a parody because it not only parodied the isekai genre, but it fixed the flaws of the genre as a whole, which was boring characters and a boring world. In isekai you always have an overly virtuous overpowered protagonist, so Konosuba gave us a weak scumbag instead. When it did have the generic protagonist gag character in Mitsurugi, they pointed out the major flaws within his character and therefore the rest of the isekai protagonists as a whole. It didn’t fall into the tropes but instead subverted them. When it did fall into cliche it built upon them with new depths. That’s what I wanted for this show, but ultimately both with the characters and the plot, it’s as cliche and boring as the shows it makes fun of. Still there were still some top tier jokes. There was one character who was always in the stupid handsome-boy anime pose every time he was on screen and it was just hilarious. The main character Junta is very enjoyable as well and overall it was a funny and enjoyable show.
