Mashle

In this magical world, one is easily identified as having magical abilities by a distinctive mark on their face. Those unable to practice magic are swiftly exterminated to maintain the magical integrity of society. However, deep within a forest lies an anomaly in Mash Burnedead, who can be found pumping iron with one arm and lifting a cream puff with the other. This aloof boy with superhuman strength—but no magical abilities—leads a quiet life with his father, far removed from society.

Mash's peace is soon disturbed when the authorities discover his lack of magical powers. They issue him an ultimatum: compete to become a Divine Visionary, which would force everyone to accept him, or be persecuted forever. To protect his family, he enrolls in the prestigious Easton Magic Academy, which only the most elite and gifted students are allowed to attend. Now, Mash must overcome his shortcomings as a magic-less being and surpass the other students—relying solely on his muscles.

This show is very enjoyable and surprisingly funny. This show’s humor hits a lot of “what the fuck is even happening” jokes, which I’m finding I really like. Lots of flaws though. The supporting cast is okay, but nothing special. They’ve got one or two character traits they drive home over and over. Finn especially is essentially a nothing person. I’d find his lack of character annoying if he wasn’t a cute twink. What caught my attention the most is the plot being actual nonsense; The setup for Mash going to magic school is as coherent and logical as the plot of a dream. A ... situation being resolved with random nonsense works in the context of one off bits obviously meant to set up the silliness as a punchline. This is a comedy after all. It does not work when setting up the inciting incident of the whole show. After the first episode, the next few were super loose in terms of plot, just introducing new characters. I thought that it was just focusing on comedic set pieces rather than an overarching narrative until like episode 7. When they finally do focus on the plot, I just didn’t care terribly much. Also, every episode plays out extremely similarly, so by the 7th time Mash punches a big meanie head and then it’s revealed they’ve got parental issues, it became comical. It’s also clearly lacking animation budget for some of the fight scenes. Overall, I enjoy this show more than I find it to be good. 6/10

Mixed Feelings

It is quite meh.
It is heavily influenced by Black clover and Harry Potter.
The anime feels more like: What if Harry Potter went to Hogwarts while having no magic and sovling everything with his fists.
It was amusing to me how bad the anime is. The characters are plain and their is no character development. The side characters and enemies all have something againt Mashle or against people who are less then them and then after being saved by him or getting a beating they flip their coin and turn into good guys who accept people for who they are.

Noticed no one mentioned the Harry Potter stuff ... in their reviews so i gues i will say it.
Castle is hogwartz.
Lemon is Hermoine/Ginnie.
Mash is Harry
Dot is Ron, Finn is Neville or the other way around.
Headmaster is Dumbledore
The blonde guy Claude Lucci taking the exam death set on expulsing the MC is Severus Snape
The other female teachers is Mcgonagall.
The game played on brooms is Quidditch.
Tom Knowless is supposed to be Oliver Plank.
Lloyd Cavill is Draco Malfoy with his 2 goons Crabbe and Goyle.
The three houses (not 4 prob cos they might get sued idk author clearly wimped out.) Adler is Gryffindor(symbol is Ravenclaw). Orca is Hufflepuff and Lang is Slytherin.

As can be seen the author did not think up much himself. Just copy and pasted J.K. Rowling's work and sells it as his own. He shouldn't get paid for basically making a Harry Potter Anime.

It was just funny to see how bad it is and that atleast made me laugh a little. So it gets a 5 and mixed feelings. As if you want a laugh its worth it maybe.

I actually don't understand how this series became as popular as it is. Is it bad? NO. Is it Great? NO. It is barely above mediocre?

The main protagonist doesn't really have any personality, his character traits are that he is strong and he likes cream puffs. The side characters are diverse in personality, but overall kind of generic. There are some giggle worthy moments between them, but nothing that had me dying of laughter or anything.

The story is just so uninteresting, the main protagonist is just OP, and he needs to pass magic school as the Valedictorian to prove to the world he is ... OP. If you think well one punch man is op and does the same thing... this is not One Punch Man, in one punch man there are character moments that make you cry and feel like the fight between the sea king and mumen rider.There are never moment's of suspense when it comes to a fight. The villains just call him weak because he doesn't use magic or he doesn't have two magic lines and then they get punched in the face. He never has to train or anything to win a fight. There is absolutely no character development at all. The main character just kind of uses a "muscle magic" move and is able to win because plot armor. There was kind of some suspense and creativity in him trying to hide the fact he cant use magic like the broom flying episode, which I actually kind of liked. But, it doesn't last.

Idk why I watched it all, because of its popularity I thought maybe it'd get better, but it is just the same jokes, the same villains, the same contrived plot.

Boring 4/10
