It's pretty much the same. Romance, Magical Girls and comedy. Tokyo Mew Mew is turning into cats (or other animals) and Mermaid Melody is turning into mermaids. They're REALLY like. I had to think of Tokyo Mew Mew when I was watching Mermaid Melody. Only difference is probably that they're singing in MM.
they are both in the genre of mahou shoujo*magical girl*
their alike in like a million different ways so if you like mermaid melody:pichi pichi pitch you will like tokyo mew mew ^^
As in the mermaid legend story there are a group of girls who have power and transform to fight evil. They all have their own specific power or color or position in the group. Also involves a love story between the main character and boyfriend who always is there to help or gets in trouble. The main bad guy and the boyfriend are mysteriously related in some way. The boyfriend has secret powers as well. Saving the world is the whole plot.
Both are typical "girly" animes with the middle school romance thing to it and both of them have the really soft core fighting theme. The animation in both are also pretty similar.
-Both involve girls changing into there "super" forms and fighting evil. In TokyoMew the girls "super" forms involve whatever animal they can attributes from. In MerMel the "super" forms are mermaids.
-Both have LOTS of cheese and a lot if it is found in the attacks and how the evil is defeated
-Both of the main girls have love complications but unlike Tokyo Mew Mew the complications in MerMel continue in to the next series Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure(which wasn't that good compared to the first one) luckily the complications are with the same guy, bad/funny/entertaining news: the main girl has to seduce him all over again because he has no idea who she is.
-Both are littler kids shows but its good for a laugh for those of us over the age of 10 read more
Similar idea, magic girl, similar characters. Characters in both animes transform (To mermaid in Mermaid Melody, to various animals in Tokyo Mew Mew). Both have the whole hero-villain thing that the younger audience of anime could enjoy for it's not at all bloody... The villains in both animes start off as not too much of a threat, and slowly get more serious. Both animes have characters with some sort of power. Both of the main males in the series.. well, I won't give it away. Just very similar animes.
Both are magical girl anime that you probably know if you grew up around 2002-2003. The characters are similar, with a pink main character who is in love with a handsome boy. Both also involve comedy/slice of life, plus dealing with a double-life as a superhero. They are both cute and funny, and very enjoyable!
Transformation sequences, glittery battles, and an all-girl team of superheroes. Heck, even one of the MM:PPP villians looks strinkingly similar to Queen Beryl from Sailor Moon.
Mermaid Melody is similar to Sailor Moon b/c both series feature clumsy middle school aged heroines. Both series have plenty laugh out loud funny moments and a cute, sugary art style.
In both series there are a group of teenage girls fighting evil. You will soon see the similarities when you see Lucia Nanami in her Idol Form. In Sailor Moon they use elements and such to attack, but in Mermaid Melody they sing to defeat their enemies. I recommend both series. Just a warning if you enjoy the first series of Mermaid Melody, I do not recommend they 2nd series.
Both anime have senshi which make transformation, difrence is that in Mermaid Melody, a mermaids transform into humans to fight with songs.
Usagi Tsukino and Nanami Luchia looks very similar with their hairstyles.
I think the art looks the same. The voice from Luchia reminds me of Mitsuki and both animes have singing main characters altough the plot is different. They also have the same amount of episodes.
They gave me the same feeling and I enjoyed those two animes. I'm sure you will like this anime if you've watched this.
well, both of the animes revolve around girls falling in love. while in full moon, the main character isn't able to find the one she loves, in mermaid melody, luchia suffers from not being able to tell kaito who she really is.
both of the main characters love to sing. and both of them have reliable friends.
overall, i'm sure that anybody who enjoyed full moon will like this anime.
and i apologise for ot being able to express myself very well.
They both have similar art (big eyes feature) and are very cute. They both involve singing, with transformations that are similar, and personalities that are almost exactly the same. Mitsuki and Lucia both like someone and make their magic mostly for them.
Both are idol shows from the early '00s with rather similar art styles and overall feel.
You don't even need to have nostalgia for these series to get that warm feeling of childlike wonder and joy, and that's partially what makes them so great and fun to watch!
Mermaid Melody is generally a bit more lighthearted than Full Moon, although; both still have plenty of character drama. Watch Mermaid Melody if you're in the mood for something sunny and silly, and watch Full Moon if you wanna go on an emotional rollercoaster.
Beautiful girls who come from the sea... while Mermaid Melody is about mermaids, singing and shoujo-romance, Umi Monogatari isn't quite so child-orientated and is rather relaxed in its pacing etc.
While these two seem to be polar ends of the mahou shoujo spectrum, I would highly recommend if you enjoyed the oceanic themes of Mermaid Melody and are looking for a more serious series to watch that you see Umi Monogatari. Umi Monogatari is a shorter, more mature series with beautiful landscapes and animation.
In addition to both shows featuring singing/dancing as prominent plot points, the main three girls give off a similar "feel". The casts of both are also really charismatic - while the plot in both shows isn't great, it's fun just to hang out with these girls and see the scrapes they get into. Recommended for anybody who wants a sweet, simple good time, though Mermaid Melody has far more romantic/ecchi overtones.
Well, first, They both have this magical girl plot BUT! Aikatsu are about Idol Activities! I think its a very exciting anime. They have a lot of good and kawaii music. And don't get me started on their dresses! They are absolutely adorable. Just try on episode and you might get hooked to it! And the art is so adorable! It happened when i got rejected by this guy i liked for a really long time i just started to watch anime to distract me the other anime's didn't do well though, But when i watched Aikatsu, i totally forgot about it bc i was too distracted about how amazing this anime is! Sometimes i watch it so much that i forget what time it is! I go to sleep maybe about 4AM 'cause it's so fun! Trust me, you'll love it! -Puri~ read more
They are both romantic, magical, inspirational, and nice anime. They are both transforming! Shugo Chara- transforming with their Charas! While Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch- is transforming with their Pendant Pearls! It's a little bit confused...but this two Anime were Super Dooper Pretty!!! Very Inspiration!!! In the End, both are happy, peaceful life now! Have two Seasons! Well, I give this Anime a perfect 10!!! Mermaids Or Guardians has always the same!!!
1: They both have the tranforming girl(s)
2: There is romance
3: In Mermaid Melody, If a mermaide tells a human that they are a mermaid, they turn into bubbles. In Princess Tutu, If Ahiru tells Mytho that she likes him, she will turn into light.
4: The art was similar
*When Maron is not tranformed she looks like Lucia as a human.
*When Maron is Jeanne she looks like Lucia when shes a mermaid.
*Both have:Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Magic, Romance, Shoujo
*PG Children
*They transform to save the world.
*The main character is a girl.
They're both about a love that can't happen but yet its still very cute. Both are funny, shocking at some points, inspiring, and brings joy to the inner child in everyone.
The similarities of these 2 animes are they have music,in Mermaid Melody they gonna save the sea from the sea demons while in K-on they have to save there club from being disband....Yui and Luchia are likely the same beacuse they are both clumsy...and the musics of K-on is very awesome and there last music Graduation Is Not The End makes me cry....that song is for Azu-Nyan....
- transformations
- fighting the "evil"
- their loved one lives in an other "world" (girls are mermaids, and their boys are humans)
- friendship and love is important
The truth is, Mermaid Melody is much more shoujo-kids like than Madoka Magica. It's very cheesy and can be quite hard to get through at first for being quite repetitive, with each episode following the same format. But its second season, Mermaid Melody Pure, has a darker tone to it, that I really treasure as one of my first ever anime shows that I continued. If you enjoyed Madoka Magica, you will definitely get something out of Mermaid Melody, unless you drop it ( which is understandable ).
Both are magical girl shows that have a similar target audience. It's a little less romance heavy but it does have some romantic elements in a few episodes. PPGZ is primarily just a fun magical girl show and if you liked Mermaid Melody, I think you'll like Powerpuff Girls Z too!
These aren't your average girls. They come from the ocean
but it isn't long before they are idol-like figures in the world.
Both have young teen girls who are trying to find their way.
Both have great/catchy music and an interesting plot-line.
Also, the girls are all idols essentially just in this show.
If you liked this anime, exspecially the music, I highly
recommend this to be something to test the waters on.
*The girl Nina from Mamotte Lollipop looks like Lucia (when not a mermaid).
*The art is the same
*Both have: Adventure, Comedy, Romance, Shoujo
*PG Children
In both series a heroine of a non-human species travels to Japan to look for a certain thing she lacks. She meets a human named Kaito. Both series have an element of love complicated by the heroine's secret identity. They both have sad moments as well as cheerful ones. While Ano Natsu de Matteru revolves around film making, Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch takes on music as its main focus.
This anime is similar to this one in that it is a Magical girl anime. With girls that transform to fight against evil and save their world and protect the ones that they love.
Both of this series has a girl that likes a boy. But they dont know if their crush like them back!! I think if you like this anime you'll like the other one!
Filled with magical girls. There's just one different - these girls are mermaids! Singing melodies and fighting bad guys, they almost seem different from Sailor Moon and the scouts, but like Usagi, Lucia is deeply in love with Kaito. But if she reveals her true identity - that she's a mermaid - she'll turn into foam!
Really, Kaito and Lucia are both much more than they seem and even have a few more things in common with Momoru and Usagi than most expect.
Mermaid Melody has a main theme of romance centering around the two main characters and also their friend's romances as well. Actually the only huge difference is that Lov*Com has no mermaids(thank god cuz what would that be like).
Luchia and Risa both go through the many troubles of confessing and they both have certain reasons that complicate it even more. Oh and of course since its a rom-com there's a whole lot of good comedy in M.M.P.P.P. And plus, Mermaid Melody's got a second season. ^ ^
Both Mermaid Melody and Jewelpet Tinkle involve girls using magic and transforming into cute dresses and overcoming trials of their own lives. The characters involved are mainly pre-teens/young teens. The main three girls all have the same color codes during transformation of pink, aqua, and green. Also the three female leads have the same personalities.
