[Oshi no Ko]

In the entertainment world, celebrities often show exaggerated versions of themselves to the public, concealing their true thoughts and struggles beneath elaborate lies. Fans buy into these fabrications, showering their idols with undying love and support, until something breaks the illusion. Sixteen-year-old rising star Ai Hoshino of pop idol group B Komachi has the world captivated; however, when she announces a hiatus due to health concerns, the news causes many to become worried.

As a huge fan of Ai, gynecologist Gorou Amemiya cheers her on from his countryside medical practice, wishing he could meet her in person one day. His wish comes true when Ai shows up at his hospital—not sick, but pregnant with twins! While the doctor promises Ai to safely deliver her children, he wonders if this encounter with the idol will forever change the nature of his relationship with her.

Where to start.

I came across this show late. For the first time in a long time, I was also able to go into an anime with no prior knowledge outside of my awareness of the opening theme and that it somehow related to idols. This is 100% how I would recommend any potential viewer go into the show.

The feature length pilot episode is the best and the worst of the show for me. The worst is that it led to me putting off starting the show for as long as I have, but the best is that it skips the three episode rule needed for ... anime. As suggested by the shows motif, this pilot lies to you, across the 90 minute run-time I had at least three different ideas of where I thought the show would go, and that was a great experience. The end also came as a massive shock and left me misty eyed.

I am also glad to say that the show in no way falls off after this exceptional pilot, the remaining 10 episodes blend the best of what the Isekai, mystery, romance and slice-of-life genres have to offer.

Do not let the pilot episode prevent you from consuming this masterpiece!

Mixed Feelings

I was asked to watch this anime as soon as possible because many of my friends kept urging me, even though I was avoiding it for some reason—I’m not sure why. One day, I finally started it, and I was surprised to see that the first episode was about 1.5 hours long. I was amazed! I enjoyed that episode enough to rate it a 9 or even a 10. But as I continued watching, I realized the major suspense revolved around finding a particular character, and I expected to see much more development around this although I understand how these things usually unfold, but I ... had hoped for more focus on it. After finishing the anime, I decided to give it a 7/10 because, overall, the rest of the series didn’t quite live up to the intensity of the first episode. I didn’t feel as engaged or curious about what would happen next. That’s just my experience, though—others might feel differently. It’s definitely a good anime and worth binge-watching!

The show has potential to become good show but it's don' have nothing has to discuss expect fighting over ships

Another good show spoiled because of ships amd lack of direction

Kana is very annoying and unlikable. I don't care about the struggles she went through, that's still no excuse to behave like a pretentious asshole and try to have your way all the time.

But you know what's worse than an annoying character? A series where most, if not ALL of the cast are as interesting as watching paint dry. Aqua and Ruby are extremely boring and none of them ... have any interesting thing going on for them.
