Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Bakuen wo!

Megumin is a young and passionate wizard from the Crimson Demon Village, a remote community of mages with red eyes and a flair for the dramatic. She has devoted her life to mastering explosion magic, a powerful but impractical spell that leaves her drained of mana and unable to move for the rest of the day. Regardless, she refuses to learn any other skills.

Along with her childhood friend and self-proclaimed rival, Yunyun, Megumin enrolls in the Red Prison: a prestigious academy for Crimson Demon magic users. There, she learns more about the secrets and history of her clan, as well as the threats and challenges they must face. As she polishes her power at the Red Prison with the help of her loyal familiar Chomusuke and her adorable little sister Komekko, Megumin aims to become the greatest explosion wizard of all time!

As a fan of the original series and the movie, Kurenai Densetsu, I was excited to dive deeper into Megumin's backstory.

At first, I was skeptical - 12 episodes focused solely on one character? But trust me, it's worth it. We get to see Megumin's inspiration for explosion magic, her initial meetings with Aqua and Kazuma, and even her adorable childhood moments with Komekko and Chomusuke.

What struck me most was Megumin's complexity. She's shy, introverted, yet unafraid to speak her mind. Her rivalry-turned-friendship with Yunyun is genuine and heartwarming. Yunyun, by the way, is the perfect secondary character - useful, intelligent, and confident.

One scene that had ... me dying laughing was Megumin's jealousy over Yunyun's, ahem, bust size. Classic KonoSuba humor!

However, I'll admit it got a bit tedious without Kazuma's sarcastic commentary and the usual guild dynamics. But I persisted, knowing this series was crucial to understanding Megumin's growth.

- Pacing can be slow without the main guild's antics

Mixed Feelings

Story (6) :
The story of the anime is a Megumin before meeting her party. The introduction is more like a comedy like a chit chat dialogue. But there is a story that suddenly rises like fighting the Devil. The story is more about Megumin's journey to become the strongest adventurer, the execution is quite interesting but to bring enjoyment is still lacking. There is only one story that is very funny and enjoyable. Overall its fine

Characters (7) :
Here it is more prominent to Megumin and Yunyun, well they are a duo who can't get along and that's what makes this story still have ... comedy. But what I like is Zesta and that makes the episodes with Zesta enjoyable. For the villains, they are ordinary but I appreciate why they always appear in several episodes

Visual (9) :
The visuals here are really good, it feels like Isekai. Then the visual effects on the magic, and the animation is also good. Then they are also very detailed with the environment like flowing water. Overall beautiful

Audio (7) :
The opening and ending are pretty good. Then the OST too, the sound effects are especially good and the voice actors are also good at playing their dialogues to make it funny.

As much as I wanted this to be amazing, since I love Konosuba and especially love Megumin, I can say it is not good. I watched it, it wasn't anything really bad but I don't really care that I've seen it. It mostly consists of things we already see in the first season and the movie but just adds extra details to it so they may be just a bit more enjoyable. Besides that, I was usually bored with a plot that has no real conflict or stakes and I wasn't interested either. It was not written very well, where it feels more like a ... "go here and now go here, now here" kind of progression. This is a comedy, I laughed out loud twice. They tried, I did not enjoy it. Lazily put together for something both unnecessary and thoughtless (yes I've read Crimson Fate).
