Summer Pockets

Far from the city's noise lies Torishirojima—a quaint and peaceful island where time seems to move slowly. Hairi Takahara, a young boy nursing a wounded heart, uses the recent death of his grandmother as a quiet reason to leave the city for a summer retreat to Torishirojima.

Upon reaching the island, Hairi finds himself surrounded by a refreshing, laid-back atmosphere, a far cry from the hustle and bustle he is used to. After moving in with his aunt, Kyouko Misaki, he prepares to spend the summer helping her sort through a shed full of artifacts his grandmother collected over the years alongside his cousin, Umi Katou, who is staying with them.

While adjusting to the island's slower pace, Hairi decides to spend his free time exploring. He soon meets the cheerful Tsumugi Wenders; the antisocial Shiroha Naruse; the wandering Kamome Kushima; and the sharp-tongued Ao Sorakado. Drawn into their lives and the island's subtle mysteries, Hairi is gradually swept up in a summer filled with fun, nostalgia, and life-changing moments that will stay with him forever.

Pretty and cute girls everywhere. This is a harem anime that is ideal for boys (shounen) that want to delve into harem world in an island somewhere where all girls love MC. The story is about MC that ventures into an island with a flashback memory about what has happened in the past and childhood friends. The anime progresses slowly over time to reveal the MC memory and the reason why he is on the unknown island.

Roughly 70% of this anime is either ecchi, comedy, date/romance/relationship, or slice of life moments. The rest are serious conversation, journey, and the dreaded dramatic/melancholic "dark" moment. If you ... dislike drama/crying moment then either skip the part or don't watch this anime at all.

I really like this anime because the girls are pretty & cute, but the swing into drama/gloomy/dark part is just too quick and unbearable for me.

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (7/26 eps)

It's seriously very difficult to take this seriously when the main characters is sexualizing the female characters every other minute. So there's this sad scene with one of the girls, and it's a moment where the viewer realizes what the plot twist is. Then 2 minutes later, the next scene is the MC looking at said girl's underwear, and another character makes a joke about how much of a pervert he is. What is this? I do not understand how they expect the viewer to take this seriously and find the moment touching when this is constantly happening. I genuinely like KEY's melodramatic shows and ... I would understand that some fanservice is inevitable given the source material, but this is just so distasteful. And from what I've seen so far, it only seems to get worse in the following arc.

Preliminary (10/26 eps)

From the starting point to the end (meaning up to ep 10 so far), you will get a sense that things do make sense at the very beginning, that there is some kind of flow to the events happening, but it just gets worse. The randomness in the MC meeting new characters one by one, the anime tries to brush through each of the new characters and only focus on the routes (aka main girls). This style of anime is definitely not for everybody, not only because of the void you get in the randomness, but also difficulty in following through the plot in terms ... of the emotion and the excitement an anime is supposed to have. More and more this anime will make you question what it is that you are watching and by the end of ep10, you would probably end up like me, who had no idea what point that this anime was trying to make, for what purpose you are watching this, or what you were spending the time for. This anime is definitely similar to Little Busters in terms of randomness and cliche comedy clips throughout episodes after episodes. If you like it, you like it. But again, the style is not for everyone.
