What seems to be a slow beginning, based on a single idea "what if the hero joins the bad guys", is actually the build-up to something much bigger. You don't even realize it until it hits you. Although it pays off in the end, it leaves an unimpressed feeling in the first episodes – they played their cards a little too close to the chest to not give anything away.

Art: 8/10.
Good, qualitative animation. There's nothing bad about it, nor nothing especially good. It has over-average animation for something, that seems like a generic fantasy (for good reason though).

Sound: 8/10.
The OP is a good song, fits the theme of the anime much better as it progresses. I still get the feeling that the song could have been vastly better.
The 1st ED is ok, but I skipped it.
The 2nd ED, however, is epic. It's in my playlist, and I've been listening to it ever since I've first heard it: "De Messiah", composed by TK (Psycho-Pass, Tokyo Ghoul, 91 Days).

another isekai that starts off with a somewhat interesting gimmick to differentiate itself from the rest but pretty much gives up on it by episode 3-5 and then becomes the same generic crap as the rest, goblin slayer did it, shield hero did it, the slime one did it and now this (alongside plenty of others that i'm forgetting)

the main character is somewhat interesting ... but the crew he is with do not give off the idea that they are villains, also they barely give off any ideas cause they're so forgettable

Ever wanted to be a hero, save a world, do everything right in order to protect a country or kingdom. Only to be basically outcasted and shunned away, making all of your efforts basically mean nothing, and all the work you've done just seem like you go to waste. You'd want to quit being a hero right? Quit being anything related to such, as it's what the title is all about here, and where we find ourselves.

Story and characters: 7-8
The premise of it honestly got me hooked from the first few moments. Normally with these kinds of shows, you're at the start of the ... journey, while in here, it almost feels like we're at the DLC extra part. As if we've progressed so much through the story, and I believe it's that what makes it super interesting to me. Not mention it's also highlighted by a colourful cast of characters. One I am more than wanting to get to know more in Echidna. As we find our hero now, working for the demon side, and we'll see ow his story progresses.

But there is more to it then that, there is much more depth then one first thought, because when doing these shows, you mainly see it through ones perspective. You never get the other sides. Or least you don't get a good detail of it. Take episode 3 and 4 for example, and you'll see what I mean by it. These two episodes are stand alone big plot point episodes that really show a big perspective in their own way. Because after all, they may be deemed 'bad guys' but at the end, they're living beings like the supposed good folk are too.

As for the characters. You've got a colourful bunch as I've said. Echidna is my personal favorite, as while she's the leader, she's not an evil mastermind. She cares for her people, and actually moves about tactically too if need be. She also has a very cute side to her. Leo on the other hand is of course the best hero, now taking a bit more relaxed and easy approach to everyting after what he went through, not afraid to play a little dirty as a result.

but they're not the only set too, there are a bunch more to talk about, that you will just adore and love. You've got a little beast human in Lili, who is just adorable. You've got a bif buff wonderful man in Edwald.You've got the serious, but fun to tease in Leo's standards, the succubus secretory in Steina. Along with more to come in the future. A very good cast choice overall.

It really can come across as a bit like that black company isekai that was a few seasons ago, without the wildness about it, but it's still a very fun watch. I say this, as in while it presents the story at first glance, it almost feels like we're taking our time, and just helping each other out first and foremost.Which is a nice touch honestly.

Art and sound: 7
Te style is colourful, and fitting for purpose. Making it blend really well with each of it's scenes and backgrounds. It's really good, and the designs and animation, are just great stuff. The sound also being very fit for purpose in each and every scene, nothing bad to say about it here.

I really adore this show, and you should be watching it too! It's a blast from start to finis for me, and it can be for you too.

Hello? Realist Hero? Is this you again? What is the shtick this time round?

You've heard of stories where the Hero comes to help a fledgling friend or enemy in need, a setting and story that only now, has become its own sub-genre of all things. The oldies like myself will know of novelist Mamare Touno's Maoyuu Maou Yuusha which saw the LN ran from 2010 and 2012 and studio Arms' anime adaptation the year after the LN ended (damn, now I feel so old that this source is more than a decade old). The more recent mainstream ones are of course, novelist Dojyomaru's Realist Hero ... and Toru Toba's Tensai Ouji. And in this packed Spring season, there's one more to add to the mix: novelist Quantum's only work that is Yuusha, Yamemasu a.k.a I'm Quitting Heroing, a short 3-volume LN fantasy series that ran from December 2017 to October 2018. Its overall themes are very similar to Maoyuu, but I feel that the context of Realist Hero is also important as well for creating the reverse "the grass is greener on the other side" derivative of "How a Failed Hero Rebuilt the Demon Lord's Army". The result from all of this are answers that'll surprise you if you understand the context well to fully appreciate what this show is about.

Without further ado, here we go again...the story of the clashing between humanity and demons seems to have no end, it's a guaranteed must-have for any work that wants to create the fantasy vibe. And honestly, I'm getting tired of watching lots of ideas copy-pasted to be one's own that even with its "special touches", it's nothing that ever breaks the bank for trying to subvert expectations, and "Yuusha, Yamemasu" starts out just being like that of humanity sending out heroes just to defeat demons so that one or the other exists. But, this premise does not stay for long, for after the world's strongest Hero has defeated the Demon Queen and her Four Great Generals, and people celebrated the hell outta it, peace prospered, and there wasn't a need of a Hero anymore. Soon after, people despise the Hero enough to label him an outcast of society for fear and mongering that his insanity of an OP power would be the next candidate for the Demon King, so they ousted the Hero in exile, leaving him the only path that he can turn to: back to the Demon Queen's quarters, and fervently requesting to be of aid to his enemy to rebuild their forces. The Demon Queen rejected his offer, but the Hero would keep trying in order to find out what is truly his calling and purpose in this undertaking.

**Spoilers for the Hero MC**

This Hero is Leo Demonhart, and although he looks and feels like a human being, he's in fact something much more gratifying: a bioweapon, made from an experiment that involved constellations for names and the mass production of robot-like humans to only be programmed with one purpose: "protect humanity by destroying enemies (demons)." And it's a well-known fact that robots do not display emotions a.k.a emotionless, and Leo for once was where his and this story started it all: saving humanity by destroying Demon Queen Echidna's forces, to only reverse that decision when humanity turned on him, beckoning to be his enemies' ally with the pitfall end goal to inflict karma against the very ones whom they commissioned him and his allies to do. Leo is an enigma, a mover of words where his experience as a Hero speaks for himself in its effectiveness and OP power that's not just for show, his character being so poignant and down-to-earth when you see that his life from the get-go has been nothing but like a slave shackled by chains of commands that he cannot escape unless someone ends his life to relieve him of that macabre of a burden. And I think this is what makes Leo such a juxtaposition of a character: being a programmed robot-human being, yet can converse and feel emotions just like a human being. Between knowing what's best for the Demon Lord's army that he decimated before humanity turned his back on him, and being in disguise from Echidna's sight, it's a delicate balance of playing the ruse while slowly revealing his real self towards her, putting expectations into reality. A thought-provoking OP MC that's not like your usual cut-copy-paste Hero.

The Demon Lord's side is just as what you'd expect: a leader with his/her underlings and the forces beneath. And in this story that the Hero supposedly wants to quit his "profession" of Hearing, the Demon Queen Echidna, along with her Four Great Generals: the "Red Roar" Dragon General Edvard, the "Unseen Blade" Shadowless General Mernes, the "Ruthless Fang" Beast General Lily, and the "Almighty Mage" Sorcerer General Shutina. Each of the Generals serve within a cluster of demonfolk whom are similar to of or in kind, such as the animalistic servant Lili commanding the beastly creatures in the Demon Lord's army, and have your typical and sometimes weird traditions like Mernes being inflicted by humanity to be sold to child slavery, only to join Echidna's ranks to take revenge on them, or Lili's weird tradition of closeness leading to marriage. Either way, everyone works out for the betterment of the Demon Lord's army the way that is managed...or rather, MIS-managed like the way that Shutina is Echidna's clerk whose simultaneously a magic-wielding succubus. It's definitely in a state of disarray that Leo would've destroyed most of Echidna's forces, to only give his hand back to them in return, because his programmed ideology of humanity, for better or for worse, will be saved or decimated given the Demonhart series that people are blessed with to take for granted. It's a lot of soul searching for what feels right within one's eyes.

Being a EMT Squared production, expect the same low budget visuals to product-place itself everywhere within the show, it does not look pretty nor interesting at all, save for the somewhat awful-looking fights. This show one of few instances where a captivating story such as this holds up against the mediocre production values, enough to retain audience viewership. If there was a plus point about this, it just had to be that the production was just barely well-enough to get the story idea to the small screen, and in this circumstance, IMO it worked.

Also, some might complain that the music feels lackluster, and you'll probably be right. Despite not having heard her voice for quite sometime, Minori Suzuki still has that conviction through her vocal lengths to deliver a nice OP, while for Nao Touyama, her 2 ED songs here IMO were certainly on par with yet another of her OP song for Isekai Bookworm Season 3, but better as the halves go along contrasting light and darkness. Still a decent OST overall.

Do I think that Yuusha, Yamemasu a.k.a I'm Quitting Heroing is a bad show? Yes, if you only care for the typical Hero vs. Demon Lord shenanigan that's been repeated countless times over. But where this work stood out, is being able to make me look at a different angle and gives me a train of thought, of how it would look like when roles are literally reversed, and that's where the charm of this small show feels the best: to feel human, to feel sympathy, and most importantly, to have a sense of belonging, because everyone belongs somewhere. And this is a case of the Hero, Leo Demonhart, finding a place where he truly belonged and fit into his ideal group: the Demon Lord's Army, and to officially proclaim that "I'm Quitting Heroing".

This ain't great, but it isn't all bad either. A decent-to-good watch that keeps your mind thinking for being everything similar but with a difference that makes the charm.

This anime might seem pretty familiar nd usual to many veterans but mark my words, It's nothing like those usual "meh" isekai animes.
I'm just surprised by how realistic the plot and the voice actors are. Just listen to their voices in ep10, especially Leo's is. The thought of loneliness over thousands of years just portrays it so damn realistic the opening credits is enough to give you that punch of emotion if you watch carefully, despite the art not being that great it easily compensates for that with the plotline.
Not as great as Rudeus but way way incredible. Somewhat better than Rimuru.

“They had us in the first half NGL”
I tend not to rate an anime on “Last episode disaster”, hence this season I pretended that the last episode of Rikekoi and Yuusha yame masu does not exist (For good reason). However, the last few episodes of Yuuyame have much more effect on the overall story hence I don't think We can avoid including this (But I definitely wanted to say this once :D). This last episode in question drives the plot to a significant degree.
The plot twists and it twists hard, it's almost like Re zero episode one but extended to about the first 10 episodes, ... the twist isn't necessarily bad (lots of hints and foreshadowing did give it a bit of context). But certainly, if you are here for your nice laid-back slice of life ride with a bit of harem in the mix, well, the plot does get to a grey point where more serious problems like an existential crisis, suicide, and purpose occur and it’s quite the twist! I liked it, Until…

It doesn't take a genius to smell the shounen within the first 10 but oh boi the last few how do I explain… oh wait I got something. BOOOM, Shounen chart TIME!

Worldbuilding — Not great, a bit of exposition, every magic skill exists to make MC more OP

Power up with screamfest? — none (He doesn't need that)

Plot armor? —more than kirito (Oh trust me it gets too bs in the last episode)

Nakama(friendship) power? — Naruto:- “Please be the next Hokage” (that last episode XD)

Generic power system world and MC starts weak? — yes (then he becomes OP)

Main rival? —Yes and also love interest

Teacher? —yes (doesn't last more than an episode tho)

Waifu? — did you mean Waifu(s) tis probably, harem

The last episode could have been a great pivot point, it achieved great emotional value as well, they were 99% there and then they decided well sike bruh maybe not eh? I won't spoil it , but most would probably cringe a lot xD (Naruto part of chart is a clue)

Let's just talk numbers.

Hero is too powerful so he gets banished! Welp I do admit I have seen another with the same concept xD. The worldbuilding, commerce, and, management aspect of it was pretty solid and a good surprise. The backstory of the characters is quite good as well, I will admit to many plot conveniences and coincidences do take the fun out of it sometimes.

Characters(8/10)
The strongest point of this anime is, really good characters are actually affected by each other and remain true to themselves at all times. The final 2 were a bit inconsistent with Leon’s character however, he doesn't look nearly as disturbed or depressed as he is supposed to be, and his roundabout “quit hero” stuff is a bit of a facepalm.

Art and animation (6/10)
Generic magic circles and chants most of the time, since it isn't an actio0n anime it's not that bad. The art is pretty bland as well and most of the fantasy animes are completely indistinguishable. the animation of the OP can be misleading since it's pretty good.

Sound and VA (6/10)
Monologues are too long and a bit out there, since they mostly are not accompanied by a good soundtrack. The overall OST is also pretty weak and generic. The OP however is pretty good Ed is also alright.


Well it is quite fun, you can give it a shot if you want some more relaxed slice of life factor with a bit of commercial stuff like Maou yuu or spice and wolf, there is a bit of drama towards the end, but the payoff isn't great, Id say 3 ep rule is a pretty solid option here

Ok so this was another anime where mc is just op but no wow moments ! well this is not an action anime so guess it's my fault for expecting some badass action ! the characters were dry it's like watching some unsaturated characters just playing their roles just for the job !the story is average cause of no real character development ! that what i felt ! there is a tag called comedy which i was genuinely hoping to make me laugh atleast but there is not a single joke that is even funny just some forced ones ! aside from this ... i sticked here because main character is op and seems to have a tiny harem ! hoping that gonna be explored in the next season if that ever gonna come!so as for now it's - 5.4 stars / 10 stars .. this is just fine for one time watch and no ofense those who liked it just that i was expecting too much !

I see most people here are missing the point. The story was clearly written by someone who understands leadership and the work of a new leader in a company and the target was to provide the viewer with the wisdom in a fun way.

The hero joins the demon army that is currently in ruins, led by a group of variously incompetent generals suffering with many typical career issues a leader can have and at the top of the army, there is a demon queen, who has a noble goal that she however has no idea how to grasp/achieve. This builds a perfect environment for ... showcasing a typical problems any leader will sooner or later face in any company.

Every episode contains a showcase of some problem and the way to solve it properly (and sometimes also how not to do the things).

To call this "yet another hero story", or complain about the reasons for abandoning humanity and joining demons is not necessarily wrong, but its vastly undermining the value of the story, because (apart from being in the fantasy world, joining the demon army), the issues the Hero is facing are very relatable to anyone who has any experience with the topic. And for that reason, I would consider this a "seinen" genre.

And we back with yet another fantasy anime where the hero defeat a demon lord.
After all those same stories over and over again we eventually got tired of it and realize that we just spend our time to watch the exact same thing and wish to undo your life.

Well let me tell you something,the hero in this anime is just as tired as you are.
Spending his life fighting the demon lord army with a useless party and he done all the good deeds all by himself and yet all the people,the villagers and even the king himself diswoned him just cause of a blind rumour.Eventually ... the hero grows tired and angered by this condition so he decided to start all over again but this time he's sided with the demon lord herself.

A simple and straight forward story yet rarely used nowadays and it's already enough to gain my attention.

But keep in mind that this anime barely focused on the fighting or the revenge story of the hero,rather it's more of a fantasy slice of life of how two old enemies working together to rebuild their dying kingdom.

The characters is quite well written and very likeable,and not just the hero,even the demon lord general and the demon lord herself plays a crucial part as an obstacle and as a company.We can see how the hero building trust with all the members until all of them finally accept him,two sworn enemies becomes friends is always a win-win after all.

i also like how the character design are distinctive though some of them looks like a copy from another anime especially the hero whose just a template from average isekai MC but with red eyes to show that he's now ''Evil'' (ooooohh scary...)
But that doesn't ruin the show for me nonetheless.

The music is just like your average fantasy anime,catchy yet quite boring.

The animation is also not the best and barely above average but it's still enjoyable.

Overall it's a good fantasy anime that you can watch as an "appetizer"

So he decide to join demon army, well you know the situation, thats right, they are crumble after last decisive war against Leo.

Actual Story Review : Story kinda doesnt make sense, people hate ... you because you kill bad guy? and they are scare u become demon lord? wtf bro, who the hell person who tell you act like this?. Demon lord here somehow good person (yea demon i know they should evil but anime nowadays portrait its good being for plot reason) The story itself is boring imo, also so far till 3rd episode, i still didnt find any adventure. Character : So far i just can review 3 character so far in this anime, Leo, Steina and Lili. Leo himself basically try to employ in demon army but echidna reject him, so no much talk about him, characteristic basically "generic good mc" humble, not arrogant, like helping people etc. Steina is basically tsundere, succubus who dont like seduce with elf appearance. Lili basically cheerful every single time

Enjoyment : Nah its boring, feel like watch slice of life

Overall : I give it 7/10 Didnt meet my expectation, i really hope they fight human or revenge or something like treasure hunt maybe, this anime also lacking of antagonist (so far 3rd episode, i still dont know who is antagonist till 3rd episode)

The story start out with being kind of a comedy story about a hero joining a demon army. But once you get into the story there is actually way more depth to both the characters and the story.

This is actually an anime i enjoy watching based on the story and setting alone...

If you've only watched 3 episodes then yes, the story seems bland and lackluster.. but around episode 5 or 6 you realize that there is a whole other backstory to this anime.

i swear this anime took me by surprise. "isn't this anime a slice of life??"
I got a hint of the plot a few minutes before it happens but it still intrigues me like "IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING??"
...
and even the 10th episode that was just released the day before I write this has brought up the vibes, the feels, the emotion even more.. like I want it to stop but I also want it to happen. every time the conversation continues, the blade clashes, the feelings are confessed the emotion keeps on building up.

the only thing preventing me from giving it a 10 is only because I want it to actually got a more amazing animation as it's fashion to lure more viewers to it's pleasant trap.

-- the following is a brief paragraph or two on my overall thoughts, followed by spoilers about how twists can't always save a show and/or change their predictability. reader discretion advised. --

I have a few regrets in life, I think we all do. As you rack up years and that number since your birth continues to tick upwards linearly, more and more events get stored into your brain as something that could've gone better. The little things and the big things, you can reconcile with those demons later and soften the blow, but they always exist.

My point is that ... I regret watching Yuusha, Yamemasu.

I'm Quitting Heroing is a sub-par fantasy show that continues to bore despite throwing viewers on a makeshift rollercoaster. The want to surprise and stun the audience is there, the passengers may even gasp once and a while and go "I didn't expect that", but when the carts finally stop working halfway through, everyone will remember it more as a hassle than as the experience itself. My analogy may only wring true for myself, but personally, I found I'm Quitting Heroing to be a slog that had a by-the-numbers beginning & end as well as some supposed inversions of the genre that couldn't save it.

The 'inversions' that I'm speaking of is that this is supposed to be our modern world 3000 years in the future. Leo is ACTUALLY a human scientific experiment, the last of a line of artificial human defenders, designed to uphold harmony. Easily the best episode is an exploration of that during Leo's original fight against the demon army. It's a discussion with a demon on co-existence, it sets up a reason for him to find Echidna compelling and a good leader as she reminds him of Eibrad. A quick aside: the best episode of Heroing is still not that good. It also serves as the foundation of Leo's rebirth as he quits being a hero and joins the demon army in true formula form. He resists relationships and trust in an attempt to finally end his life when... he's told to "just disable" his programming that repeats the protection of humanity order... AND IT JUST WORKS! Centuries of existence and, at some point, his 'thought masking' was disabled so he developed an ego and this was the first time this possibility was ever considered. Don't wanna be sad? This is a case where "just don't be sad bro" works. Could've done that day one and we wouldn't have to have all this jazz.

So, the majority of the show is a standard finding one's self story of Leo helping each general with their duties and a slight characterization of Leo to find out his past. He's disguised himself as 'Lord Onyx' in an attempt to show his value to Echidna without her knowing it's actually him as she holds a major distaste for the one who brought her to defeat. There feels to be countless instances of Leo about to reveal who he actually is before being interrupted by arbitrary consequence, dragging out a plot isn't something a 12 episode show should be doing at all. Then, the last few episodes are a fight that showcases each general's ability and how they get absolutely crushed by Leo followed by the turning moment for our MC where he decides to keep living which he's always wanted but that pesky off switch was ever so slightly camouflaged I guess.

A show that I didn't find unique or enjoyable, one that I intend to forget and be reminded of whenever a friend teases me on the shows I've devoted time to.

Starts off slow, but the story gets better over time, Unexpectedly interesting twists toward episode 10-11, along with nice magic visuals the music is great too. but the later episodes make this worth it to watch for sure. Interesting perspective to see and surprising ending, can't wait till episode 12 is released. Unexpectedly good anime for this season, definitely an underdog, I just hope they dont mess up the ending now, doesn't look like it will get a season 2. Perhaps, who knows? I had enough to say so I'm just writing nonsense now to fill the character count...

I don't typically write reviews. I have seen a lot of animes but the negative reviews this one gets are from people that didn't really invest into the story and gave up after 3 or so episodes. As of episode 11, I am enjoying the anime and will say the story is a bit slow but that doesn't make it bad.

If you have free time and aren't afraid to try this anime then I would say go for it. Sure it isn't the best thing of the decade but most things won't be. Doesn't mean you can't still enjoy it for what it is.

This is literally one of the most criminally underrated anime of the season. Anyone who gave low ratings clearly never watched the whole way through so their opinions means nothing. Admittedly at the start, it looked like one of the most generic power fantasy with an overpowered protagonist, and seemed really forgettable but as the anime progresses it gets better and better to point that it became one of my top anime for the season.

It was so good that after watching anime for so long, I felt the need to give it my first ever review on MAL. This anime truly shows never believe ... the opinion of people who only ever watched the first 3 episodes and never even bother to finish the whole thing.

For those who has a lot of patience and tolerate the type of show with fantasy drama about humans, beasts, and demons, then maybe you've stumbled upon the right place. If not, let's just say that I'm Quitting Heroing is the type of anime that reuses many of the same elements in today's anime market, the very definition of trying the same thing over and expecting different results.

Trust me, with the amount of isekai these days, seeing a protagonist being banished from a party, kingdom, or general population is hardly a rare sight. That's what happened to Leo, the hero who gets banished from their ... kingdom after defeating the Demon Queen Echidna and her army. With the setting taking place in a futuristic timeline, you' expect the world to be celebrating peace and prosperity. No, instead, people still live in fear of another war sparking and also suspicious of Leo himself. The fear stems from an idea that he may one day rise up to become a Demon Lord. In his position, Leo would quit as a hero and ironically decides to help Echidna rebuild her army.

Watching I'm Quitting Heroing gave me the impression that the author planned this show out like a roadmap by injecting story elements related to the past, present, and future. After his exile by the king and the human kingdom, Leo made his decison to help Echidna but at the same time, also makes new alliances such as with the Heavenly Kings. These consist of a group of characters that serves at the top of echelon in Echidna's army - Steina, Lili, Melnes, and Edwald. Rebuilding an army is easier said than done so you can imagine the amount of pressure and responsibility Leo is carrying on his shoulders. The anime does it make clear that Leo is perhaps their most important asset due to the various conflicts among the Hevenly Kings themselves. From the first few episodes, Leo realizes the tremendous task at hand. The anime also makes it clear that the Heavenly Kings each have their own flaws. It's sad because it means Leo would have to carry the rebuilding job himself and he's not even an official member of Echidna's army.

Speaking of which, the Heavenly Kings are filled with nothing but character flaws. Early in the show, we see how incompetent Steina and Lili can be when their plans go wrong. Despite having some natural traits, the anime makes the two characters look like tools. Melnes also gives a unfavorable impression with his shy and introvert-like personality. There's a specific episode reveals more about Melnes' personality but let's just say that he's the lonewolf type who practically lives his role as an assassin. Finally, there's Edwald who I can describe as the 'muscle' of the group. When you combine these characters together, you get an cast of oddballs that will make you roll your eyes.

What about Leo? He quit being a hero but what's his real purpose now? That's a qood question to ask yourself because Leo himself seems to have lost a purpose in life. A main plot element of this show is Leo's personal journey to discover his new purpose. Being feared for his power by the very people he once fought took a toll on his psyche. Let's face it, Leo deserves respect and honor than being banished and feared. Similarly, Echidna herself has a reptuation, at least according to rumors. But upon watching this show and looking closely, it's shown that she's a relaxing character who enjoys food, company with her comrades, and even has a somewhat childish personality. When she later meets Leo, it's shown that the two can get along quite well, almost like friends. Unfortunately, circumstances obviously can't allow them to be best buddies. In later episodes, the anime's story hit its peak with Leo putting his plans into motion, secrets and revelations being revealed, and the story exploding with effects that changes their world forever.

As I said before, the author really seems to have a roadmap planned out from the start. Even the director seems to have known this with the anime adaptation by planning out the first and second half of this 12-episode series. From the buildup, character presentations, and story development, it's actually somewhat clever. However, the anime still falls into a pitfall of lazy writing mostly with the lack of character development and mediocre plot. I'm Quitting Heroing may have taken some risks but it didn't take those risks to reach a level on its own.

Even the animation production qualiy falls short on its feet with its average character designs. Characters looks especially generic and unoriginal with Echidna's scarlet dress and demon horns. Leo has that Kirito-esque look that you've probably seen hundreds of times from light novel adaptations. Likewise, the Heavenly Kings does have some distinctive looks but none speaks for its uniqueness. The most annoying one among the group is Lili with her childish feature and character expressions. However, I will say that one concept of the show with its timeline is mildy interesting dealing with its futuristc medieval-like setting. The anime carefully made backgrounds look like a work of art on some instances even from the beginning. If anything, I do give credit where credit is due there.

I'm Quitting Heroing feels like the type of anime that got adapted because the industry wants another fantasy drama with a banished hero. We get one practically every season now so having one in Spring 2022 is a way to continue the streak. But hey, maybe if you're new to this type of genre, it can be a sweet treat. For me, this was a sight for sore eyes.

IMO this anime does not the attention it deserves. There’s a deeper meaning to the story with very relatable advice given on every episode. The animation may be subpar but I think the voice does does a great job is bringing across the emotions. It’s a breath of fresh air to all the boring isakai anime that tend to make it through each season. We have a hero who’s over his job after 3000yrs. He’s lost his sense of purpose and have decided there only one way to retire.
Which this anime is available more popular platforms than HDive.
Highly recommend. Yes it’s a bit ... of a slow burn but know it gets better as each episode goes.

I like to give almost all seasonal animes a chance, but funny enough I immediately dropped this when I first attempted to watch this show. I am so over this recently overused theme of government simulator. I was in no mood to once again learn about supply chain management, so I initially dropped this show because of the beginning plot and meh animation. But I saw people online recommending it, so I gave it another go and I’m glad I did. This show will not wow you by any means, but the characters are likeable and the plot twists are actually well constructed. There’s definitely ... much better anime out there, but this is far from garbage.

Ya. I wish i could reply or delete the first few reviews lmao. As someone who has watched 11 eps, this anime is heavily underrated. It was like a normal slice of life comedy anime uptil ep 5. From ep 6 there are a lot of twists and surprises. The story is very creative. Atleast ive never came across this kind of story. Its def not one of those generic fantasy shit. Ep 10 and 11 are rollercoasters. I mean i was like "UMM WHERE'S THE COMEDY PART?" The way they have talked abt and explained how the MC feels is amazing. Some deep ... shit they are. This story really tells how much of a curse, immortality and being op is. Worth a try if you are fine with watching 5 eps of good slice of life.
