Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu 2nd Season

What the hell? Where did this anime come from? This is the sleeper anime of the year for me. I would describe this anime as "if Slime isekai merged with Shield Hero and Konosuba + good writing".

After binging season 1, I can say season 2 is starting out as an absolute banger. Ep. 1 is a slight recap but not a wasted episode at all). Season 1 built up the world and story and now, Season 2 is the payoff of all that. Season 2 starts the arc of Makoto in Rostgard to learn magic, but it also starts delving into the other heroes ... transported from Earth and the war against demons. Just like most characters in this show, the other heroes have unique personalities and struggles that make them interesting to watch. The action and story-telling in Ep. 2-4 are so fun to watch with good pacing and progression. I have no complaints so far about the season.

For those wondering if you should start this show, I won't write a review for season 1 but I will put my thoughts on why this show is worth watching. I actually think binging Season 1 into Season 2 is a better viewing experience overall.

Tsuki ga Michibiku doesn't deviate from the traditional isekai recipe of "average MC transported to cool magical world where he picks up hot side chicks and builds his own village". The real difference is that the writing of the show is vastly superior than the other trash isekais. List of why:

1. Everything is explained. There is a goddess. There are ways for people to move across worlds. There is a mana system and elemental magic. There is a reason the MC was transported. Contracts between demihumans and humans exist. No major detail is just overlooked and not explained. Most isekais struggle to explain key details of the world the isekai is based in, and they just expect the viewer to accept things without any logic.

2. Power system - Yes the main character is OP, but the writing actually turns that into a constant issue for him, so it's not like he is just going around one-shotting all his problems away. There is also room for power growth as there are other characters as powerful as him so the story is not too predictable when conflicts arise.

3. Speaking of MC, he is actually a well-rounded character. He isn't a 1d NPC that has the "good guy" personality on 24/7 nor is he a complete weakling or degenerate. There is character progression and a dark side to him that he is forced to experience and accept. His motivations are clear and he is consistent in how he acts.

4. World Building - Similar to Slime, the world of Tsuki ga Michibiku is fleshed out with different species, lands, and languages. This adds a nice fantasy element and freshness to the show t

5. Violence - This anime doesn't shy away from gore and violence which is a must for isekais. While the show mostly has a light-hearted tone, the tonal shifts from the violence give a great contrast that emphasize key scenes.

6. Comedy/Fanservice - Contrasting the violence of this show is the comedy and fanservice. This show has some genuinely funny moments where I laughed out loud and is very similar to the style of Konosuba comedy. But this show isn't a degenerate anime where all the girls exist just to be waifus. Yes, that element exists, but it is done sparingly for comedic effect. The MC also isn't a horndog and actually has self-control unlike many other isekais out there.

This anime isn't perfect and there are times where the plot is weak or the comedy is redundant, but they are excusable and much less glaring than other examples out there.

I am surprised I haven't heard anything about this anime since Season 1, but I am glad it has a high enough rating to make me interested. If you like the top-tier isekais like Mushoku Tensei and Re Zero, then I think Tsuki ga Michibiku is right up your alley as a more light-hearted isekai.

While this anime had some interesting ideas and takes on the isekai genre, they ultimately fall flat and do not add anything interesting to the plot, characters, or animation on this second season. There is absolutely nothing left unique about this anime, and even the only gimmick the main character has is never expanded on or used in any meaningful or interesting way.

Character development is abysmal, even for your average isekai. The characters don't change, and if they do something, it's only for the plot to advance, not the other way around. This point is particularly jarring, as the setup is all there for multiple ... characters, but for some unknown reason, the anime never explores more than surface level issues for every single character in the story.

The story features terrible tone shifts and an aimless direction on what to show and how to do it. Sometimes the characters are making jokes when the context and situation is dire or very serious, and sometimes the story has no idea if it should be dramatic, tragic, funny, or serious. One episode might feature a character going through strong and sad emotions, and then the next couple of episodes never mention or acknowledge that the character ever went through such an emotional struggle.

The sound design and soundtrack are incredibly unremarkable and forgettable. One of the openings is somewhat catchy, but you are not going to remember any actual soundtracks that play during the episodes. The impact of weapons, spells or anything similar is also very weak and is only serviceable. The more you pay attention to it, the more you will notice this issue.

Animation should be at least engaging and fluid, especially with how many episodes of this season are just slides with characters talking and talking until the episode ends. Sadly, this is not the case at all. Rather than saving the budget for the fights, it seems like there is simply no budget at all. Even during the few short fight scenes, there are a lot of stills or they just switch to characters talking during the fight. The other trick that is widely used is how rather than show you the impact of an explosion or strong attack directly, the anime will show you instead how things around the fight (like trees, buildings, objects, etc) move around with very basic animations.

Finally, the biggest problem with this season (and the main reason why this is not recommended) is how boring it insists to be. There are plenty of other anime with a better pay off, better setting, better characters and better animation while still being an average isekai. While similar anime at least attempt to explore the same tired and tried tropes of isekai or even a subpar romance, the second season of Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu stubbornly refuses to try anything at all.

Even if you are still OK watching this season with everything I described, you may find that spending 10 hours to watch this was just not the best use of your time, especially if you were looking for a way to kill time while having fun; there is no fun to be found here.

For me, Tsukimichi season 2 was an improvement in every way over season 1 and one of the most enjoyable shows this season. Better story, better villains, actual development from the MC, just a more entertaining watch. Turned me from someone who would doze off during Tsukimichi episodes into a fan.

This season of Tsukimichi from start to finish was a blast. The story finally felt like it got going. Whereas season 1 felt like an introduction to Makoto’s new world, season 2 feels like him finding his place in it. Moving on from just being a merchant in the background to being a character ... in the forefront. New characters getting introduced, especially the other heroes from Makoto’s world, Makoto’s time as a teacher, a conspiracy behind the scenes, quite few emotional scenes.. this was just a damn good season. A ton of stuff got packed in here and I can finally understand the hype for the show now.

One of my biggest issues with season 1 was Makoto’s personality. Felt like he was an asshole and just didn’t like how he handled everything with the demi humans, hyumans, demons, etc. This season forces him to re evaluate how he’s been doing things and question his views. I appreciate that the author gave him some much needed character development and he just feels like an MC I can get behind now. Still has some places I’d like to see him grow and take some of the edge off, but he’s getting there thanks to the challenges he has to go through in this one.

Just like Makoto’s mind seems to be expanding, so does the world. Introducing new factions, enemies, political tensions etc made the world that in season 1 felt a bit claustrophobic, feel a lot bigger. Glad we finally got to go to other locations and see how the world’s fairing outside of Makoto’s little bubble. The world isn’t just black and white, but more often than not shades of grey and Makoto finally realises you can’t paint entire races with a wide brush. It’s not as simple as humans bad, Demi humans good.

Lot of action in this season especially at the end of it and man, that final battle was some of the hypest stuff I’ve seen this year. The studio delivered some solid action. Only fault I have with the production is how many damn cliffhangers we left off in this show! Seems like every episode they cut off right as things were getting good, definitely kept you on the edge of your seat wanting more though so fair play.

Tsukimichi 2 finally lived up to the hype for me and now I see why this series influenced others like Tensura.

Tsukimichi 2 gets 9 out of 10.

This anime feels like what happens when someone wanted to write trash isekai but they were accidentally really good at writing.

There's a ridiculously OP main character, but his OPness actually causes him lots of problems and isn't his one-shot solution to everything. His character is consistent but isn't just a a flat goody-two-shoes or derpy character. He's got depth and gives reason to care about his struggles.

The world has the standard adventurers guild / hero must fight the demons setup, but it's only a part of a great amount of world building. You actually get to learn the what and why of what's going on ... instead you just having to accept that's the way the world works.

There's fan service / harem, but it's not over the top and generally has an actual impact on the story instead of just being there for the sake of being there. More importantly, all these characters have their own depth and struggles and character building.

Season 1 was great, and Season 2 is keeping on the same pace and great writing hitting all the above points. The animation quality also appears to have had a big upgrade, and Season 2 is looking beautiful.

Overall, it has all the base ingredients needed for a good trash isekai, but they tossed out the cookbook and went into the kitchen ready to serve.

The first season of this anime was way better than i expected. It drew me in with an intriguing premise and had me locked in with above average animation quality which surprised me.

Season 2 however is just straight ass compared to season 1 in every single way horribly slow pacing and so many gags in each episode that aren't even funny. It just seems like the episodes are being dragged out for no reason and I'm thinking maybe they are saving the animation quality for some fight scenes later into the season but I'm 12 episodes into the second season and this piece of garbage ... just keeps getting worse.

The only decent scenes are the ones with the MC in it and its because I think the animators just make these scenes better because these scenes include the MC but these moments are scarce because most of the time we are watching other characters do things since in season 2 there're way more people in the story compared to season 1.

I think season 2 will probably get better since we have 13 more episodes but I'm dropping this anime and ill probably pick it back up when every episode is released already.

Summary : season 1 was way better and season 2 is just bad compared to it

This season was a waste of time!

Nothing is good. Actually there is only ONE good scene with Tomoe and the hero from some place that doesn't matter.
None of the arcs matters. None of the characters matter. None of the subplots matter. Not even the main plot matters.
The first season is very good. But they just got lost in this one.

There is no real storyline. There are some arcs that doesn't matter in the end. The main character doesn't go anywhere or grow as person. He doesn't get worse either. All characters, including the MC, are just there doing something that doesn't matter ... in the end.

Nothing is interesting. Nothing makes much sense. His his business venture and nothing is the same. It doesn't matter not even to MC. Everything is pointless and boring. This season and nothing would be the same. Counting grains of salt would be better than waste time watching this.

To preface this review: I LOVE this show. This series is one of my favourites, and although it might not look like it adds much to the genre as a casual fan, as someone who has followed the manga, and indulged in far too much isekai trash over the years, it's still one I hold close to my heart. The series keeps its worldbuilding consistent, doesn't reach the core of it's mysteries too easily and uses easily digestable familar settings and themes to build a fun and solid story.

That being said, Season 2 of Moonlit Fantasy is TERRIBLE. The first few episodes are certainly ... the best of the season, despite focusing on previously offscreen side characters in the form of the two summoned Heroes. The pacing is great, and the music and composition means that, even with a limited animation budget, it was a fun and engaging story to watch. It also did a great job of portraying and parodying two other 'isekai' routes often taken in the genre - no spoilers.
The series then continues onwards with Makoto, our MC, at the centre. It's fine for a few episodes; a bit slow but watching him show off for once is entertaining.

However, after that, the entire show slows down to a snail's pace. We reach long-running shonen series level of shitty pacing, drawn out dialogue and action, with very little actual action to be seen on screen. The characters almost feel like they're being puppeteered, and each person is politely reciting their required lines in the middle of their 'Acting 101' class. Episodes 7-13 and 13-19 could have been condensed into 3 episodes each. Each week is just another episode of disappointment as I watched the series I love being pulled like taffy, and the action and animation budget squeezed more and more.

Watch this series if you loved moonlit fantasy and interested in the slower political and management side of things. Wouldn't recommend if you were looking for an OP isekai with action.

Surprisingly good, but marred by some cliches and tropes, and stunted by relatively average animation quality (JC Staff, it is what it is).

The praise:
- Engaging story, similar story beats to Reincarnated as a Slime but, in my opinion, play out in a more satisfying way. Sure it's still got your generic isekai power fantasy stuff, but the author has done a good job of weaving that in to a compelling story and interesting world.
- Interesting protagonist. It's an isekai with power fantasy which often leaves our protagonist a bit one note and stale. However, they manage to actually make him interesting and multi-dimensional. ... He has unique motivations and is at times morally gray.
- Well fleshed out supporting cast. While the first season leaned in to the harem aspects of a supporting cast making a lot of them feel rather bland the second season lets these supporting characters develop and helps get them outside of the usual tropes they might otherwise fall in to.
- The world feels decently fleshed out. Multiple kingdoms vying for power, other heroes that have been isekai'ed. Things are driving the plot even without the protagonist, he is merely woven in to it.

The criticism:
- The fan service can really take me out of certain scenes, particularly during the climax when it felt significantly more present, which was odd given the circumstances. I feel like the author was going through a "dry spell" while writing the climax.
- Animation quality is... par. It's JC Staff, what can you say. They are a budget studio and I get it. Things are stiff, nothing is flashy, but it gets the job done and tells the story fine. With the quality of animation we've been seeing recently it definitely pales in comparison, so if hype action scenes are what you tune in to a show for then you'll be left disappointed.

Overall I am really enjoying this season and would highly recommend it. Season 1 is a bit more stale by comparison, and definitely feels more generic, but it's still worth watching if only to get to this far superior season.

Just take this as a hot take, because im going to review way very different than other reviews so far (Maybe later we have more reviews)

First at all, it started very weak this season, I don't know i was hyped in last season and waiting this for like 2 or 3 years i dont know maybe less than that or more than that. But anyway, i was hyped really hard. But first episode in this season is throw me off really hard. I'm okay with scene when Mc going to school/Academy (im sucker this trope) but COOKING? I know that lead to char dev but ... do they really need waste 3/4 episode 1 for cooking and more importantly its Episode 1 btw. Episode 2 no comment because it back to track again. Then Episode 3 and 4 arrived which i dont even care about is other heroes. One of them is generic mc who puppet of "queen" or "princess" of the empire, and other one is powered by friendship power.

I have enough of this shit but this anime show it like what the f. In manga (OH SHIT SOURCE READER) we dont even touch other heroes scene because mangaka know how boring is that, but cooking still there. Cant complain, because basically half of season 2 would be slice of life. I dont know about this, I put this as Mixed Feeling, because this is my favorite anime but start really weak in this season. I probably wait this to finish rather than watch episode every week.

Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy - Oh, good golly, Tsukimichi, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU???

I immensely loved Season 1 of novelist Kei Azumi's Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu a.k.a Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy when it first came out all the way back in Summer 2021. Being a parody Isekai, it's a perfect fit for straddling against all other stereotypical and average Isekais of the time (that unfortunately we still get now in this day and age). And as much as Season 2 was greenlit thereafter, I was eager for more of the Tsukimichi greatness in time to come.

But good God, how wrong was I to have high ... expectations for Season 2, because it was a total shitshow of a long, frustrating, and mind-numbing time having to sit through all 25 episodes for the past 6 months (or the equivalent of 8 to 9 hours on a binge minus the OP/ED segments), one would understand why the sequel HAD to be a continuous 2-cour, if not for the continued adaptation of the LN being a hook, line, and (literate) sinker.

With Season 2 adapting Volumes 5 to 10 of the LN, despite having literally the SAME production staff team with a studio change to J.C.Staff, it's understandable why studio C2C was not chosen to continue the project, since they already had their hands full on Shangri-La Frontier. But even more aggravating than most, is the pacing of the LN, which suddenly slows down to a crawl. Ultimately, I'll have to say that this unfortunately goes both ways. The awkward transition from the fights to pure, slice-of-life moments where Makoto "Kuzunoha" Misumi is not only progressing as the leader of the demons' Demiplane, but also becoming a teacher after being a registered merchant himself, it just feels natural to go from one significant moment to another...only to realize that like Season 3 of Tensei Slime, it's literally the same push-and-pull mechanism of heavy dialogue and set-up for the events that are about to unfold as Makoto ascends into the new city that is Rotsgard, and also learning of the other Isekai-ed heroes who represent their various kingdoms, fight together against common enemies. It doesn't help that Makoto has degraded in his thinking as he attempts to navigate all 3 duties at once, and the sequel really got the better of him as concurrent circumstances forced him to utilize much of his "right-hand man" group with Tomoe, Mio, and Shiki, with literally little to no room to breathe when evil strikes at his corner, being the only hyuman capable of facing the strongest of its kind. Yes, it's the same character development that we desperately needed to see from Makoto, but at what cost?

I'm not one to be a party popper for all things bad, but it's the obvious truth: Season 2 of Tsukimichi is one of the worst sequels I've ever experienced in all of anime. It's not exactly in the same tenure that is the oblivion and total destruction of The Promised Neverland's sequel in Winter 2021 (being the most recognized butchered adaptation of all time), but everything is literally downgraded, with the saving grace of a budgeted studio like J.C.Staff being very prominent in 2-cour productions to withhold their animation prowess and hit-and-miss when the moments call for it. In a make-believe world, director Shinji Ishihira would've liked C2C to come back to produce another season, but since they're the quality studio that produces no more than 1 anime at any given time, he's fraught with having to choose inferior-but-quality studios to continue its adaptation, and that's how he got J.C.Staff onboard for the sequel.

Sadly, the music easily takes a nosedive, as both the 2 cours' worth of OP and ED songs, along with the OST, are just plain unmarkable and forgettable at best. And if that's the best form of sincerity I could give, it's that you can easily skip all 70 to 75 minutes' worth of it in a binge.

If there was a show I did NOT want to see fail, it's Kei Azumi's Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu a.k.a Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy, and Season 2 only proved to me that since the series will still continue onwards with Season 3, it has a lot (and I mean A LOT) of work to win its anime fanbase back with quality content from later volumes of the LN. But for now, it's a massive disappointment of various proportions that just leaves me speechless.

After rewatching Season 1 and diving straight into Season 2, I couldn't help but notice that Season 1 was much more colorful and vibrant in comparison. Now, don't get me wrong, it's not necessarily a bad thing. The anime still retains its finesse, but I can't help but wonder why some studios opt for this style, especially when continuing the series. It's hard for me to see how that's an improvement.

Now, if you'll indulge me for a moment, I have a little rant to get off my chest. One unforgivable sin in anime, in my opinion, is delving too deeply into stories and relationships that ... have nothing to do with the protagonist. Sure, I get it, it's a step in creating a well-rounded story, but dedicating two entire episodes to outside characters and their "harems," with little relevance to the protagonist, just rubs me the wrong way. But hey, that's just a personal pet peeve of mine. Thankfully, the anime manages to redeem itself later by highlighting the strength of the characters' bonds, so I'll let it slide this time.

Now, getting back to the anime itself, it's hard to believe, but there's been a lot of character progression since Season 1. Especially noticeable is the change in the protagonist's attitude and personality. He's much less flustered compared to before, which gives him a certain air of maturity. There are lots of more theories and world building that are a bit exhausting the first time around, but trust me, it's something you can get used to.
The OP music is also another good one, although I loved Syuudou's: Gambling, in season 1 better.
I might come back and edit this review, but by far, I'm enjoying season two quite a bit.

Oh, and let's not forget about the gorgons/medusa species—they are craaaazy hot! This anime's done great in maintaining a decent character cast.

S2 is an absolute let down compared to the previous season. The characters are behaving like some unpolished NPC, acting and speaking in absurd manners. The jokes fall flat and the main characters appear so apathetic in certain scenes that made me question if I was watching Overlord.

There is a terrible lack of urgency in everything Makoto and his companions do since they're obviously overpowered in more than one way, so much so that it becomes too hard for the writer to create meaningful and believable conflicts perhaps? But that can't be it -- suspense and plot urgency can exist even in a story ... with an absurdly overpowered MC, and One Punch Man proves exactly that.

The fight scenes are one of the laziest and worst I've seen. I don't usually deduct points for terrible fight scenes, as I understand how tedious they are to illustrate, but dragging them out with cringeworthy emotions and dialogues makes them twice as bad as they already are.

Overall, it's not as big of a let down as Shield Hero S2 is, but compared to S1 which is a rare gem in this genre, S2 has become just another trashy Isekai anime.

How did we get from season 1 to this?

This show has really gone downhill, characters have become 2d and unlikeable, the plot makes barely any sense and the pacing, oh good grief the pacing, it's agonising. Sometimes they will just gloss over something we are told that happened but sounds incredibly important, sometimes they will take half an episode posturing and exclaiming 'damn, I've never fought anybody this strong before' 'haha, but now I will use my trump card' 'but you see, that wasn't my real *real* secret weapon'

It's like mindgames written by a 7 year old, where these edgy psylords breeze through ... everything with absolute ease and suffer repeatedly from wild mood swings, sometimes kuzanoha cares about hyumans, sometimes not, sometimes he will say 'we need to be quick' and then hang around aimlessly watching while some random smurf in armour gets skewered, sometimes his will say 'now I can take my time' and instantly squash an opponent.

It's so bizarre, and the characters have become unlikeable parodies of what they originally were, and it doesn't help that basically there's no challenge for kuzanoha, nobody can even scratch him, so what's the point in investing in the show? You know he's going to win, and on some level he's so obnoxious now you don't really want him to.

Also for some reason all the most powerful characters/items in this world always have to be connected to japan in some way, which is contrived to say the least. Awful show.

This anime got me so frustrated that i felt the need of writing a review for the first time. An isekai with unusual aspects to it. Plot is actually okay. I wouldn't say that it's your usual trash isekai of the season. But i felt as if i was gonna bore myself to death when i was watching it. The plot progresses really really slow. Until the last 5 episodes nothing exciting really happens. I felt like i've watched a season of OVA episodes. I remember that i was bored when watching season 1 too,but this one was a whole new level.

Serriously till episode 13,the pace of the story is perftly going ahead. Not boring not rushed. Feels good to watch.
The animation is satisfying, the story is engaging and the characters seems very real and have good development.
Although be sure not to get too deep about the characters as some of them are pretty fuked up pure NTR.
The asshole characters get much screen time and gets more bitches while our mc roams alone everywhere like a left over kid trying to play with his magic powers alone in his basement,or he is afraid of woman maybe.
I think its one of those best isekai out ... there.Its as entertaining as season 1 was if you liked it though. but the only thing i hate that all the characters are way mature and act adult but the mc still act childish af and also there are some cencored adult scenes in manga but it wasn't animated which impact on how we see the character or think about them.if they wete animated we would have hated a particular character more that what we saw in anime. A great show in a most regards although hampered slightly by poor pacing, contrived progression, and occasionally shallow characterization. Despite these flaws, Tsukimichi is still a satisfying to watch due to its various twists and turns and the detailed digressions that do well to flesh out the world and minor characters.

At first glance, Tsukimichi appears to be a poor imatation of Tensei Shitara Slime, but it excels in various aspects that the latter show fails. Due to the limited budget, the animation and music are nothing special, but are serviceable for what they are.

Ultimately, Tsukimichi changes up the formula enough to make a ... beloved but tired genre feel fresh and exciting. Whilst not a masterpiece, a highly recommended for fans of the genre.

Second season of the top-slop isekai with another banger intro by 'Syudou' (check out another of their songs "In the Back Room").

Second verse, more of the first, the show continues to be decent, but seems to suffer from poor handling of the adaptation. There are a lot of mini-arcs that don't really deliver on the impact and significance of what's going on and they spend a little too much time explaining things. I think there was supposed to be a grand plan enacted, that we never got a pay-off to, which seems to be left to continue in the third season.

Regardless, Tsukimichi is a ... decent "Protagonist is overpowered" isekai with elements that make it interesting and some fun character development that isn't about saving everything, rather our 'hero' is quite unwilling to get mixed up in things and is quite entertaining when he is.

Ultimately I feel like it could've been a lot better, which is its own sort of disappointment, even if it's a decent watch.

I feel like the anime had all the right elements but failed to use them properly. The protagonist was unique, the side characters were well-developed, the world was vast and full of surprises, and the power and progression systems were engaging. But all of this was ruined by long, empty dialogues and dragged-out events.

Simply put, from my perspective, the worst thing about this season is the story and the dragging out of events through empty dialogues and the characters' stupid and cold reactions. The protagonist could have intervened, saved the situation, or acted wisely, but he just waited for no reason and then intervened later.

The ... characters could have fought with full strength, but they also waited until someone got hurt or even died before stepping in. What's frustrating is that they never use their full power, or even a fraction of it.

What's the point of having such immense power if they're going to get injured at the beginning of almost every battle that they could end in seconds? The protagonist is capable of doing so much with his power, but he simply chooses not to...

I think if we removed the unnecessary dialogues and filler events, we would be left with only 12 episodes for this season. I feel very disappointed after having raised my hopes for this season.

I don't know if its just me or maybe the site I was watching this show through, but the pacing is just terrible and I feel like the story is skipping around left and right. Clearly I'm missing something, because I'm usually the person to rate an Isekai higher than the average score, but this experience has been so abysmally bad compared to S1 its almost a joke. Someone please tell me I'm wrong, because I really want to like S2, the premise is good and the story has a good foundation but the execution just feels lacking in so many ways.

TSUKIMICHI Season 2 follows Makoto Misumi as he continues his journey in search of the remnants his parents left him. While expanding his Demiplane with new species and tending to Kuzunoha trading company Makoto dabbles in teaching at a Rotsgard Academy. As he expands his grasp of the new town he finds out there are more sinister factions that wish to do harm to him and his companions especially in higher echelons of society. Given the chance to collaborate with an uncommon ally, Makoto has decided to flip the script with his alliance in fear for the sinister factions putting his companions at risk.

Story ... & Character: 6/10
The story continues Makoto as he gathers more evidence of his parents' journey in the goddess' world. It's enjoyable to an extent but definitely becomes less ambitious with arbitrary introductions to new side characters; The major plot events lose their grandeur because of the poor impact from these side characters. The story remains fairly predictable with the plot direction but the development in terms of territorial restoration was an unexpected implementation.

This season we get a set of new characters and the existing ones are developed further with their fair share of conflict and bonding. This time around character development felt more inclined to the side characters as opposed to Makoto where their dynamic are tested and developed more than his own. This resulted in fights being a lot less substantial between Makoto and external factions yet dynamic between companions felt more in tune. At this stage the character depth with the original cast is a lot more satisfying to see as Tomoe, Mio and Shiki continue to grow in the background. It would've been better to see character establishment similar to theirs where unexpected major events occurred. The antagonist factions felt a bit weak in terms of their stance against Makoto especially the ones targeting Kuzunoha Trading Company.

Art & Sound: 6/10
The art this season wasn't extraordinary by modern standards with the character designs falling apart between scenes. We see more use of slideshows and panning shots this season also which degraded the viewing experience. Action sequences lacked much fluidity and in between attacks were noticeably choppy however it's good to note this series isn't known for its visuals.

Sound design was also fairly above average; The voice acting was decent along with sound effects. There weren't much meaningful use of music beyond setting the tone of each scene. However, there weren't any drawbacks from the audio experience.

Overall & Enjoyment: 6/10
I enjoyed this season for what it was, an accumulation phase for Makoto - As his network grows, he becomes more inclined to the affairs of the Goddess' world and now even more of a target by the Goddess. It could have been much more exciting with pacing the fights and character development better (i.e 3 episodes for a fight scene is a bit much especially for a non-boss antagonist)
