Well, well, well...
This was actually surprisingly good, I honestly didn't have my hopes up after watching 'Boku ga Aishita Subete no Kimi e' before watching this movie, which wasn't a good idea, but without going into spoilers, I can recommend watching Kimi wo Aishita Hitori no Boku e first.

'Kimi wo Aishita Hitori no Boku e' starts off at a good phase and it didn't slow down once in my opinion, sadly going into details with this movie isn't very easy without spoiling.

The two movies really go well together, even though it might not have been needed to make it into ... two movies, this one (Kimi wo Aishita Hitori no Boku e) was great.

The main character feels real, and their journey felt satisfying to follow. Their reaction feels genuine and the way they handle the situation feels real.

Unsure of what else to say without spoiling too much of the movie, I honestly think it's worth to go into this movie without looking at any trailers.

[63/100 Animation] The animation is way better in this one, but still feels a bit dated.

[84/100 Story] The story felt easy to follow and I thoroughly enjoyed the story more than other points.

[54/100 Sound] Was alright. The OST wasn't bad and felt fitting.

[65/100 Voice acting] VA is better and more alive compared to 'Boku ga Aishita Subete no Kimi e' though I'm biased because of Shiori's voice actor having more screen time.

TLDR; 'Kimi wo Aishita Hitori no Boku e & Boku ga Aishita Subete no Kimi e' are two movies made into one with two stories flowing into each-other.

This review will probably be deleted after the Movie had a global release.

This movie will make you angry pfff
(This whole text was written for friend, so it’s very emotional. I’m sharing it here cuz I found it funny.
P.S. I watched blue one first, then this one and I’ll leave recommendations about the orders of watching, below)

So honestly? Disgusting movie that only give anger. Ahah But maybe that's just me. The MC is miserable, pathetic and obsessed, so i didn’t empathize to him. The fact that you can compare the two from different universes is making it kinda easy, like gladly there’s better version of him somewhere. Actually, as a whole, both movies as one make it really ... pretty and tragic story. The two met and that fact alone ruined them, and those who love them, enter life. The only happy ending is for them to never appear in each others lifes...

YEH, YOU CAN THINK THAT BUT NO SH*T I would believe that in ALL those INFINITY universes were NONE where they would just F-ING TALK TO THEM PARENTS!!! this WHOLE SH*T happened ONLY because the 2 STUPID KIDS didn't ask or just talk to them parents. It's not like they wasn't trusting grown ups or that them relationships was a secret…

(Some anime’s always forget that irl people and so the characters can have internet and books, so they literally could search something like "Can I marry my step sister?" and it would say "NO SH*T BRO, GO ON"
Yeah also about it, that sudden “they in love but now will be siblings” twist was also big ewww tbh)

…The parents shown to be understandable, so if the kids told them what’s bothering them, they would just not marry each other in this case or well, like in anime just say that it’s fine to date step sibling (ewww ew ew ew) Or if they only would be allowed to play around the unstable machines, or if only they didn’t had that dumb idea to use one.
But seriously, MC spend his whole life looking for the universe where his lover would survive and this movie told me that theres sooooo many version of the universe, yet literally NONE where the teenagers isn't DUMB... fair enough I guess ahahah

Overall, the blue one is really good in my opinion and this one made me angry, but you gotta have trash like this for something wholesome like the other movie to exist.

The order. You can watch:
1) Only pink one - (I personally would turn it off right away if it was my first movie but you can see for yourself) - in the end you'll be left with a little hope in heart but you wouldn't know if them plan work out or not, like an open ending kinda of thing which isn’t that bad honestly.
2) Only blue one - You'll get the good, full story about a wholesome couple with just few little questions about details (but tbh if I knew that I have to watch THIS for the answers… I wouldn't go for it, cuz it’s not that important)
3) From pink to blue - You'll see if the plan is worked or not, after a bad story you’ll get to see a wholesome one even tho it was shown in flash backs before, to understand it better you need to watch the next one, and the beautiful ending where you would understand what's happened.
4) From blue to pink - you'll see a confusing start, a wholesome story and they would explain everything in the end so you wouldn't know exactly but probably would guess what’s going on in the ending and then you would have to see a shitty story for 1 and a half hour that was already explained pretty good in 10 minutes before as a flash back.

So overall? Watch just one (any) or from pink to blue. If you like me and will start with blue, then don't waste your time on the pink one

TLDR: Watch it only if you are digging some cheesy and wistful romance. For some deep, well-thought-out plot…avoid it.

The most important requirement for a series dealing with time, space, and related sci-fi elements is that its in-universe laws/principles stay consistent and the plot holes remain minimum, ideally absent. Some series manage to explain such complex phenomena relatively well ( Steins:Gate ) while the rest focus more on other aspects and only use the sci-fi elements as an underlying base to save themselves the trouble of explaining each and every “law” ( Erased ). Kimi wo aishita tries to go with the former route ... by framing and explaining laws for parallel shifts/inter-dimensional travel, but fails at it horrendously.

SPOILERS AHEAD:




Kimi wo aishita’s plot holes become more pronounced after watching its counterpart Boku ga aishita, having the same characters set in a parallel world. However, the author actually forgetting his own plot points or in-universe principles is truly mind-boggling. Maybe the author who wrote this version of the film was from a parallel universe…

Plot hole 1 (more like a very convenient premise): The fact that the two kids instantly decide to jump the gun instead of talking it out with their divorced parents about the marriage is absolutely hilarious and unrealistic. Even with their teenage hormones raging within them, their desperate attitude doesn’t hold up seeing the relatively chill attitude of their parents, the plethora of options available before them to marry each other legally, and the time available before they became adults to make such informed choices.

Plot hole 2: It has been clearly established in this movie ( and even more clearly in its movie counterpart “boku ga aishita” ) that users swap their bodies when a parallel shift occurs. By this logic, the parallel world Shiori (let’s call the parallel world 1 and the original world 0 ) should have inhabited the body of Shiori 0. Since Shiori 1’s body died in her own world and Shiori 0 was turned into a ghost, what happened to Shiori 1’s consciousness? No answer from the series…it simply gets away by saying that Shiori 0’s body went into a coma, which can’t be possible in the first place if Shiori 1’s consciousness still remained in that body! A fine example of subverting your very own plot laws.

Plot hole 3: Towards the end, we get to see that the ghost Shiori was “reborn” as a real human in the 85th parallel world after Koyomi’s sacrifice. But then what happened to the original 85th parallel world Shiori ( or Shiori 85 )? Again, no answer or even a mention.

These plot holes are not minor-they contradict the very basic principles on which the plot is set and can’t be dismissed as “minor details”. And in addition, the convoluted way in which the movie meanders towards the middle through a combination of flashbacks and parallel shifting worlds doesn’t help in alleviating the plot and only serves to confuse the viewers more.

As for some positives, the art is good for a non-action movie. OST is nothing remarkable and the VAs are all right (but Koyomi’s VA performance as a kid felt out of place with his deep monotone voice). I, personally, did get enjoyment from watching it as long as I was watching it with a closed brain. But these cannot whitewash a movie with a poorly-thought-out plot with sci-fi elements in it.

"Kimi wo Aishita Hitori no Boku e," the red movie in the parallel worlds saga, offers a compelling exploration of love that defies the constraints of fate and time. This ... movie should be more to the mystic side of love instead of the Sci-Fi theme - although concepts of Sci-Fi are still the main theme. One of the reasons why it’s more emotional to end with.

Distinguished by its intricate portrayal of love's complexities compared to its counterpart, Kimi Ai portrays one’s love and regrets and the inability to let go. But also shows the determination to fight back for one’s love.

This movie made me learn that:

Some can choose to move on from the past, some are still in the process of doing so, some are unable to let go. Many might be forced by others to move on from the past, but when it's about true love it isn’t that simple. Kimi Ai portrays the inability of letting go side, it shows the determination of one’s love, risking everything, even though fate is against them. One would go against fate and the world if they truly love someone.

Letting go or losing someone isn’t a simple thing for a person to face. We all have or will face it multiple times during our lifetime. The feelings of regret might bring out thoughts of “What if this were to happen…”, “If only…”, “Maybe if…”. These thoughts are completely normal for human beings.

This show really brings out the emotional side compared to Boku Ai (the blue one) & executes it well also. If you watch this one last, you will be amaze on the hidden things Boku Ai didn't 100% show - as it will reveal the majority of things (which should clarify confusions due to watching Boku Ai first).

For Music:
Loved the main OST for this one. In contrast to Keina Suda’s OST on BokuAi, Saucy Dog's composition, "shion," becomes the soul-stirring melody that encapsulates the movie's emotional core. This poignant piece encapsulates the struggles of holding onto love, even in the face of adversity and the relentless passage of time. The song resonates with the film's central theme—the refusal to let go, portraying an emotional journey marked by unwavering determination and a profound commitment to love that transcends the boundaries set by parallel worlds.

While the film has its share of drawbacks (I mentioned in Boku Ai review), including voice acting nuances and pacing (I felt the pacing in this movie is abit too fast compared to its counterpart), these elements do not overshadow the emotional resonance achieved (atleast for me). "Kimi Ai" emerges as a testament to the power of love, demonstrating the indomitable spirit required to hold onto cherished connections. In the rich tapestry of the parallel worlds saga, this movie stands out as a poignant exploration of the complexities of love and the tenacity needed to defy fate for the sake of an enduring and heartfelt connection.

Not everything goes to plan. Regrets are always a thing. Not being able to let go is one aspect of true love. If you truly love someone, you would risk & give everything for them even though you might suffer in the end.

Moving towards the next stage of the romance genre, it revolves around Romance from different, parallel worlds. Yes, actually these are 2 different films but have a connection between the events in the story. Because the genre of this film is Sci-Fi, so you are required to understand it and require critical thinking, of course so that you are not confused or fail to understand the plot/events while watching.

A work depicting two boys with the same name falling in love with a girl in their respective worlds, and set in a world where people can travel between (parallel) worlds. Kimi Ai and Boku ... Ai are stories that stand alone, but the settings of the two worlds allow them to be connected to one another.

Here we have the option to choose which one we will see first.
Timeline orders: Kimi Ai -> Boku Ai.
Emotional order: Boku Ai -> Kimi Ai.

I personally have watched Kimi Ai first. However, I suggest you watch [color=blue]Boku Ai first because your emotions will be more pronounced if you watch Kimi Ai second. It all comes back to you, where you start is up to you.

It was an ambitious concept of multiple ending, but felt average to me. I have seen both movies, this being the second.
It technically is the sadder ending, but it ain't that type of ending that will make you shed tears.
The story for both movies differ in terms of love interest and which parent MC choose to stay with after they get divorced.

Story -
MC stays with Father, a research scientist, falls in love with the daughter of his father's colleague (step-mom). Due to a stupid misunderstanding and tragic accident, the girl dies and MC is determined to find a solution to revive her. ... This movie is more technical in explaining the theories of dimension travel as majority of it takes place inside the research institute in contrast to the other movie that shows his outside life.

Voice Acting -
Horrendous. MC is the most tone dead emotionless character i have ever seen in all anime. The other characters' performance aren't any better either, but damn MC voice acting really kills the mood since you will hear him the most. When MC gets angry at his parents for not being more angry towards him for causing the girl's accident, it really resonated with me. Because i could say the same for MC's subpar voice acting THROUGHOUT the movie.

Animation
Does not fee like a movie level budget, rather ordinary. Not to say that its bad, given the standard of the movie, breathtaking animation really is not needed at all.

Is it necessary to watch the second movie
Honestly no. Both movies at the end will give you a short summary of what goes on in the other universe for context. Of course, the other movie will go into way more detail on the perspective of the other side.

Conclusion
Overall, it is an average forgettable movie. I looked forward to this movie and i was left underwhelmed.
The other movie is better

This is a master piece. There is many hidden details that you won't realize before you finished both movie. But after you finished all of it it hits hard. Insanely hard. The Voice Acting may not be good but the plot/story makes up for it. Also you may prob have realized this but the movie uses first impression to change how you feel about the ending at each movie. The charater is also pretty good. Not gona spoil anything but i suggest watching this 1 before the blue 1. It got a bitter sweet ending. Yall will love it to the bottom of your heart.

Criminally underrated! I guess most anime fans nowadays like to watch shows with bimbos and stupid unrealistic over romanticized moments. Therefore actual good anime like these get drastically overlooked.

First thing that I want to mention is please, you NEED to watch both movies. You can pick whichever you want to watch first but again please watch the other before you rage on about how it doesn't make sense. Personally I watch "To Every You That I Loved" first, but I will treat both movies as one and I'd say it doesn't really matter which order you decide to go. That said with how the anime ... is constructed it's really hard to keep this review spoiler free but I'll try my best not to go too deep into important plot points.

These movies do require some thinking on your part to understand, as with most shows involving sci-fi. But a lot of it comes from both of them intertwining their stories with each other, a brief moment from one movie is explored in the other, and vice versa. The anime are 2 "what-if" scenarios involving parallel world and some time travel if you haven't guessed. I loved how the anime is complex yet simple at the same time. It's complex in your first movie but as you go into your second there's some "aha!" moments and you realize that the story is actually pretty simple and straightforward. There are still some vague but completely understandable points and I guess they decided to let it up to the viewer's interpretation.

For the actual story there's really not much to say especially romance wise, it almost felt generic to be perfectly frank. So if you're looking for purely romance, you'd bound to be rather underwhelmed. The anime does well in how it incorporates both storylines in one another, like I said both have moments that might not make sense at first but will be as you continue watching. It's just so unique and it worked that I'm willing to overlook most of the romance. That said, this anime is still better in that aspect than the majority that focused solely on romance, so you can still enjoy it regardless.

Overall what a unique and fun anime. This is 2 different story with different ending, yet it intertwine and affect how you see each other, bittersweet and poignant. It's one of the most impactful anime I've seen in a while. It definitely had its flaws but I enjoyed it immensely. 9/10

Honestly, the voice acting is one of the main detractors of this movie. It makes everything freaking boring. Bro is supposed to be crying and screaming yet it feels like he's having a regular conversation.


I'd rather watch fireworks again, than rewatch this dogshit. At least fireworks made me laugh at how bad the dub was, and it gave us a good song out of it.

Also I think the whole step bro shit was lame, like bruh you can still date her even if your parents marry. Shit is so unnecessary, like you can't be that dumb bruh.

I did the dumb move of watching ... the other movie first, and I found it pretty boring. Had I watched this first, I likely woulda liked this series more. Oh well...

I guess you could say this has spoilers in it but it's not anything big, anyone that reads this won't understand what happens in the entire movie or fully understand the plot.

Well this was disappointing, I was expecting this movie to be at least somewhat good but it didn't live up to my expectations. This isn't even movie quality it looks like a regular anime episode but worse. The voice acting in this movie was just bad, it's like the voice actors just put no emotion into playing these characters. Everything else is fine in this movie up until the main character gets a different ... hair color in a different world and then we get a time-lapse of his life in this parallel world which came out of nowhere, no narration or explaining what is about to happen the music came on and it just started to speed-run his life. After it's finished the main character has some way to save Shiori and he does it but it doesn't even make any sense, they didn't explain anything he just went and did it. Somehow he is young again and is PYSICALLY TOUCHING HER, this doesn't make any sense SHES A GHOST then he says lets get married and she is happy I just don't understand what was the director thinking while writing the last quarter of this movie, everything isn't explained and the characters just do things and they just happen to work out for some reason...

5/10 I would not recommend this to anyone.

The idea of ​​two worlds seems attractive to me, so I will give two reviews within this review, one only having seen this movie, and the other after having seen the other movie, both without spoilers; I want to clarify that I will do the reviews from a more emotional view and less critical point.

First Review: At the moment it is only a movie

The idea of ​​a multiverse is something that is being seen a lot in the movie industry, although it is not new, it is probably in its best moment. This movie talks about a world of possibilities,even though it's not that it ... focuses so much on that, it talks more about a person who is so focused on a goal, that he practically forgets his own desires, all to fulfill a promise and also "redeem" himself.. It's beautiful, it feels like something is missing from the story, but I understand that it's because this movie complements the other one, which works as a rare kind of sequel/prequel/complement as I understand it. The characters are nice, the music is perfect, it combines perfectly with what happens, especially at the end, the animation is not exactly something spectacular, but it perfectly fulfills its objective. . I feel this film will be one that I will cherish dearly.

Second review: Having seen both movies

Despite having suspected that the flashbacks and "different" scenes shown in the movie were from the parallel world, it's satisfying to see how everything fits nicely together. I honestly believe that the best possible decision is to see this movie first and then the other one, although I must say that this one feels much deeper than the other one, a conflict is better presented, it is much more dramatic and interesting, it also explains more about the parallel universes and their travel mechanics. The fact of separating both films seems correct to me, but I do not think that the viewer should be suggested to "watch it in the order they want", if they had seen the other film first and then this one, they would have understood, but it would not have changed much either. Both films are good, with a good concept, although not exactly innovative. However, I think they are perfectly entertaining and easy to warm to.

I like this type of anime where the story unfolds slowly and you get the answers of the questions that you asked while watching. Also this anime is full of hidden clues.So try to remember every seen. Trust me, it will help you to fill the story & to better understand it.
The art style was very good, the character building was on point, the story telling is good. The science explanation was understandable.
Those who love science fiction & love romance anime with cute couple then this is the one.
But you need to watch the 2nd part(prequel) to understand it fully. Don't skip the 1st ... part.

Sigh. What can I say..

I am quite disappointed by this movie. So many timeskips and unclear messages.. When I finished watching it I was just left confused.
I felt that the plot is really messy. We are thrown back and forth constantly. You may think that something is going to happen but no! Another timeskip! Another reality! Great!
The VA's for the characters made me laugh by how monotonne their voice was even in emotional moments. The character is screaming and crying but their voice is steady lmaoo
The animation is simple but pleasant. I think that this was my favorite part of it all.

I want to make a guess. [Feelings-like minor spoilers ahead]. I think that girls would like "Boku ga Aishita Subete no Kimi he" more as a solid love story and quiet stress-less life scenery where both partners trust and love each other, while boys would like "Kimi wo Aishita Hitori no Boku he" more not because it's a hard-to-watch drama, but rather because it's more deep emotional connection between the partners and selfless love scenery. The former movie is a beauty of the parenthood and "adult life", and the latter one is a beauty of first love and youth. And the sad conclusion I've come ... to after watching both of these works is that one can't bring their youth back.

A peaceful life that can affect anyone, as well as its unexpected turns that can completely change it.
From the very beginning of the story to the end, every detail and stage is clearly and friendly presented.
The theme of love, devotion and the pursuit of happiness not of one's own but that of a loved one personally appealed to me very much in the character presented.
In addition, the division into two films, the plot of which is intertwined, is somewhat unusual, giving us the feeling of actually watching different possible events.
Yea, it's very similar to Steins Gate. I highly recommend watching it.

Well so I’m in the population that watched this one first.

The story is quite dear and emotional. It’s similar to Steins;gate in the execution, motivation, and even animation. This was what I think the story aimed to be. However, it fell kinda flat for me. The biggest problem is the length. There’s honestly not a whole lot to the story, so the pace of this movie dragged so much. I was bored for a solid chunk of this movie. The voice acting was bland with low energy and emotion. There’s still good moments, but different problems saturated out the good parts. 6/10

The show-runner endeavour to entwine romance and emotional depth to invest the audience in a premise that derives its uniqueness from the Sci-Fi element - despite this foundation not being an innovation.

Unfortunately, the movie leans excessively on the combination of these two genres as a mechanism to captivate the audience. It doesn't succeed in independently immersing the viewer through a compelling narrative. The characterisation formula overly relies on emotional catalysts to prompt ... sudden and profound decisions, disregarding the critical set-up between motive and action on the empathic scale.
