Tezuka Osamu no Don Dracula

Both of these unique, early '80s anime feature Kenji Utsumi playing a transplanted Dracula. He's in Boston in one and Tokyo in the other. 

The shows are uncannily similar in several aspects. Not only do they both revolve around a "signature adolescent girl", so badly written that it becomes sort of obvious that she's only there for the cuteness factor/fanservice, but they also show similarities in their low production qualitites. The dramaturgy of both shows rely on a few running gags, as well as a bombardment of lame catchphrases. All characters excel in their shallowness. The animation in both shows is outright bad. This is where the shows differ, however: While the production of Don Dracula is dropped at episode 8, Nanako SOS actually increases in quality around episode 10 or so, going from bad to mediocre.
