From the team who brought you Carole & Tuesday, here we have another stupid, ugly, pandering piece of shit no one should watch. Super Crooks is based on a comic by Mark Millar, the original creator of awesome action films like Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Secret Service, but while those films have iconic design sense, bold visual direction, & unforgettable charm, Super Crooks is plagued with clunky animation, Play-Doh CG car chases, boring caricatures, and a presentation just as wooden and unfinished as Carole & Tuesday’s. Let’s just say I accepted the fact Bones was really gonna shit ... this one out when I realized they had a CG model for every detailed character.

This whole project was flawed from the outset too, because most of it was haphazardly hashed together when the American comic book author realized Netflix commissioned a thirteen episode series and had to communicate to the Japanese production staff how to handle his four-issue miniseries. To fill the run time, he made up ten episodes worth of new content so they could keep the original story as a three episode finale and have whole new content to precede it, but it just repeats this sluggish, tensionless, exposition-heavy heist formula. Super Crooks is Ocean’s Eleven if you drained its charisma, added generic superheroes, ridiculous gore, and gave it a stale Marvel movie origin story.

Satou Dai isn’t a terrible writer—and maybe I shouldn’t even be surprised by the mountain of minor “turn your brain off” inconsistencies—but this westaboo phase he’s going through right now is just fucking embarrassing, and I’m judging by Shinichiro Watanabe/Sayo Yamamoto standards. Speaking of being a total embarrassment, this Motonobu Hori guy has proven himself to be miserably fucking incompetent. Should I start with that Japan Sinks 2020 aesthetic? Or how about the fact this show goes full-on Ex-Arm and has 2D characters standing right next to 3D monstrosities, as if the audience is blind enough not to realize it's the most jarring thing the human eye has ever seen?

The forgettable hip-hop OP is comprised solely of this blonde bimbo dressed like a cheap whore waving her camel toe at the camera, begging you to praise the hollow uniqueness of such a tasteless display. “Sure, the backgrounds are vile, digital dogshit, but they hide it by spamming their Microsoft Paint bucket tool for the OP, so now it has personality—I swear!” It reminds me of all those old spin-off DVD OVAs we used to get for shows back in the 90s and early 2000s where the main characters would fly to California, wear bikinis, go to McDonalds, and shoot guns and shit, only now its not satirical or self-aware in any way. Like it’s screaming in your face, “isn’t this is what Americans like? Isn’t this what you wanted Netflix-sama?” But where the original creator probably knew what he was doing, proven by his impressive resume and the badass film adaptations of his prior work, this team managed only to make a fool of themselves and the original comic.

I was hyped when the trailer dropped. Coincidentally, I was reading a book critical analysis about superheroes before Super Crooks officially came on Netflix. Pretty fitting right? Cuz like, superheroes? supervillains? powers? The whole sad origins and everything? Ok


Super Crooks had an okay- flow of the story. We start the episode with the origins of Johnny Bolt a.k.a our MC and how he came to be the "crook" villain as he is today. We then follow him getting out of this super jail and we meet his girlfriend - Kasey, and his (idiotic) villain friends. Then Kasey introduces him to Carmine and meets other ... superpowered guys. After 10 episodes, there comes a time leap. Thankfully, we didn't miss any important information but only that the gang has been busy in that time period. And I'll stop from there.

Story-wise, it's easy to follow. We got the generic bad boy and his bad girl and his bad friends doing bad stuff against this really really bad guy that could literally blow your minds. And of course, a heist! It's not a villain-centered story without a grand heist. We have the scenic backdrops of America and its heavily hero-influenced environment. I have a problem with the synopsis here tho. It says that "they have to head to Spain.." In this adaptation, they went to an Island that is somewhere around Japan. I hope they fix that. Other than that, the premise is alright.

Art is good. The backdrops were nice and the colors have fit the mood of the story. There's definitely a noticeable chunk of gore elements like having your guts and heads wrecked. Character designs were decent too. (But probably except the disguise Josh wore in the first heist. Just, why did he pick that?) The animation was decent. The action scenes didn't fail my standards. Sound-wise, not so much. I love the OP and ED though. The background music was my problem. I'm not saying they're bad but some scenes were lackluster because of the background music. There are times it was distracting and some just felt like it's not right. I noticed the bg music was repetitive though it's not that memorable.

I can't say that the Characters are unique or "never seen before." In a world that acknowledges superpowers as normal, of course, there are always some after-effects. We have Johnny Bolt that can produce and manipulate static electricity. We have Kasey that has psychic powers. We have reckless dudes that can cut off their limbs and be in one piece later on. We have a ghost, a weather forecast, a telekinesis guy, a closeted dude that turned kinda wholesome in the end, and some old dude past his prime with his lava guns. Despite that, I love their dynamic in the show. But trust me when I say that most of these characters lacked a bit of texture. By texture, I mean no backstories or why any reason why they're like that. They focus on the "now" situation. Thankfully, the voice acting helped flesh out their personalities so props to them. My fave character is Kasey. She arguably has the strongest powers in the group. I'm glad to see her great potential in the later episodes, unlike the start.

If I have to be honest, I enjoyed this show. I have seen a lot of heist-related shows and movies so this was kind of predictable but I enjoyed it nevertheless. The casts did a great job and they did not disappoint. Overall, I give this an 8.

The show's not THAT bad.

MASTERPIECE!!! If you, like me, loves more realistic stories in superhero worlds (like Marvel and DC) as well as Invicible and The Boys, this is all you'll want to watch. The plotline is amazing, a villain-view of a society of heroes, but with more human and complex emotions. The super-powers and fights are dope, amazing animation and creative work, the plot twist are nice too, always making the story flow wonderfully. The character are totally amazing, every single one, our protagonist is just unique, totally impredictable, the antagonists are totally scary and leave you in a panic all the time, even without appearing. If you ... like super-hero worlds adult stories, give it a chance, you will love it.

Turning your brain off would be the biggest understatement of the year. The sheer number of plot holes, inconsistencies, and sheer breaks in logic would require you to turn your brain off to the point that getting a lobotomy would be an upgrade.

The story is absolute trash. The tone is just very strange, it's as if an Alien made this show, someone who has no idea how the human world operates. I cannot believe how this could have been greenlit. What a waste of a budget.

The characters are caricatures of caricatures. I'm more than willing to suspend the critical part of my brain once ... I understand what theme the show is going for, is it serious? is it supposed to be funny? Entertaining? something that makes you think? The Answer? It's supposed to be all of the above, except they mix it up so much that the resulting dish is as unrecognizable as an inuit-italian-chile fusion food dish.

The music is supposed to be going for a light tone at all times, but it seems to have not been merged with what's happening on screen.

Please don't waste your time with this show. I'm almost ashamed to include this in my watched list.

I watched this show with my friends over Discord, and the opinion was pretty unanimous. We all despised this show, and were honestly shocked that it has as high a score as it does here on MAL. This is a bad anime and a bad superhero show. Allow me to explain why.

The pacing is slow, too slow. The episodes drag on and more often than not the action scenes lack momentum. The slow modern jazz that is played over most of them does not help. Though this is more of a matter of personal taste, I must say I also did not like the music ... very much at all.

Most of this would be forgivable to me if I liked the characters and story. While many of the side characters have interesting gimmicks, they lack development, which is a shame since much of them have much potential. The Gladiator stood out to me as one of the more interesting characters in the show, but since most of what we know about him is told directly to us rather than shown naturally, it's hard to get invested. This is the problem with most of rouge's gallery here.

The two main characters are probably the most unforgivable, but for different reasons. Johnny Bolt is a terrible human being that shows little guilt for the many wrongs he commits in the show. Despite this he gets the girl and is presented as mostly sympathetic to the audience. Kasey, said girl, has more character to her, but you wouldn't know it with how much the camera leers on her constantly. (Something that made me especially mad considering how she states she was a victim of sexual harassment.) She has the best powers in the show, and she wastes them hanging around a man who by all appearances doesn't respect her.

This mostly leads to a happy ending that feels unearned and unrealistic. It would have at least been a 5/10 if it had the guts to be as dark as some people claim it is. It's a bunch of blandly terrible people getting what they want despite all odds.

That's the worst thing, really. The show is boring. I can't even make it any lower because of that.

I guess the one good thing I can say about it is that the animation is solid. The character designs are nice, everything moves well, and I don't remember anything standing out as looking particularly bad. Granted, there were no shots I would call amazing, either. It's competent. There are some alright gore scenes involving certain characters, but the scenes felt jarring more often than not.

Go watch Tiger & Bunny instead. Skip this. It's not even worth a hate watch.

this anime is a masterpiece and seeing a score of 7 its insulting to say the least, i am ashamed to be a fellow human being if this is our taste in general.

the art style is one of the best of the last decade, very similar to invincible, but this one keeps the art quality high at all times, while invincible lacks in sveral scenes.

this is the boys and invincibile, but better.

i hope to come back in 10 years to this page and see the score change ... to 9, this is a classic, and i hope it will get a season 2.

The series actually starts well. The first episode is a genuinely entertaining, funny satire on a superhero origin story. It's got the standard elements of a Mark Millar comic, including high school geeks discussing comics, but ends in spectacular fashion, with earnest Johnny inadvertently hurting (killing?) dozens of people and causing millions of dollars in damage, thus deciding to become...a villain.

Unfortunately, it's all downhill from there.

The next episodes consist of generic supervillain capers with very little humor or ingenuity. Moreover, the entire universe (or "Millarverse" as he likes to call it) is poorly conceived. None of the abilities or battles make a lick ... of sense, and it's a constant source of annoyance. I kept comparing this series very unfavorably to Larry Correia's fine series "Hard Magic". While that was a gritty alternate history fantasy set in the 1930's, the abilities of the characters, like super-strength, telekenisis, telepathic suggest/control, etc. are very similar.

The difference being that Correia put an exceptional amount of thought into the origin of all these powers, how they work, their limits, energy usage, etc. Meanwhile, Millar and the creators of this series didn't. Now, that would be fine if this was a superhero series aimed at little kids. But no, it's supposed to be mature and self-aware, with tons of sexual content and swearing, so presumably, it's for a more serious, older audience. And yet, it's every bit as stupid as the cheesiest Superman cartoon.

Let's begin with Johnny and his buddy with the ice powers, Frostbite. They are able to create giant electrical storms across an entire city and colossal ice structures viewable across all of San Francisco. How in the hell would "Man Mountain", whose power is being really large and strong, be immune to such large amounts of electricity and ice? He would be able to absorb more than the average person, but Johnny and Frostbite should still defeat him instantly. Similarly, how is the rubber superhero immune to either the electric or ice attacks? He might be immune to physical attacks, but why wouldn't he be frozen, or still feel the elecriticy through the rubber? Again, no thought was put into it.

Kasey is an interesting case. There is a character in "Hard Magic" with the exact same ability as her, except Correia understood how very easily an ability like "mind control" can become broken and boring. After all, what's to stop such a character from mind-controlling the most powerful heroes to be their slaves, or forcing them to commit suicide? Thus, there were very hard limits placed on this in the book. Even a talented telepath could only use it on one target at a time, they couldn't cause the target to do anything he would never do normally, and even then, it can be successfully resisted by a sufficiently tough, strong-willed target. No such limits exist with Kasey. We see her doing it on multiple people simultaneously, on the most powerful heroes like Praetorian and Gladiator, causing them to behave completely out of character or getting them stuck in fantasy worlds for long periods of time. It's an unbalanced, broken power. Why do they need to recruit anyone else to be part of the villain team? Just let Kasey mind-control a high-level supervisor or two and you're done.

I also have a massive problem with TK McCabe. Outside of maybe Kasey, this guy should be the most powerful villain or superhero in the world, and it's not even close. He has the power of telekinesis to the point of throwing giant storage warehouses weighing hundreds of tons at fast speeds. If he can do that, why in the hell doesn't he take the largest caliber bullets in the world, the .950s, which weigh about half a pound, cause human beings to literally explode, and one-shot elephants...and fire them at least a THOUSAND times faster than that? Not only would it be completely unavoidable for even the fastest superhero, but it would have insane lethality against the most superpowered and durable of heroes. But let's even go beyond THAT. If McCabe can fling hundreds of tons of metal at high speeds with telekinesis, what's to stop him from ripping apart the internal organs of any enemy in a shower of blood? No superhero, regardless of durability, could withstand his level of force. He could kill any superpowered being as soon as he sees them. Magneto is presented as a very powerful, important character in the Marvel universe, and he's not even an infant when compared to TK McCabe's power. Yet, instead of being a living god, McCabe is a small-time thief who gets easily beaten by Gladiator, which makes no sense.

The Diesel Brothers should be utterly weak and useless, at least if the series had bothered any time requirement for how long it takes them to regenerate or how much energy it takes, which they can't have infinite reserves of. Of course, this being a lazy series, neither is done.

Moving on to the main group's rivals, Praetorian should actually be fairly weak as he is described. His powers are random, which means he has no clue what he will be going into battle with, or if it matches up well with his opponent. Moreover, it would mean that he has limited practice and competency with any specific power. Gladiator just has super strength, which, as presented, should be defeated by at least 4 of the villains with ease; Johnny, Frostbite, Kasey, and TK, the latter who he beats because the plot needs him to. The Bastard is nonsensical on multiple levels. In terms of powers, he can cause people's heads to explode, but his limits are never defined. How far away does he need to be, how much energy does it take, and can it be resisted at all? As usual, this lazy series never tells us anything. However, even without that, he is hardly invincible. He doesn't explode heads instantly, so there should be plenty of time for any number of superpowered individuals, including Johnny, to kill him if they're in the same room. And let's also talk about how stupid The Bastard is as a character. He's supposed to be a supervillain mastermind so smart and skilled that even the police are on his side. So why then, does he do something as utterly idiotic, reckless, and unnecessary as cause a random SWAT team member's head to explode? What was the fucking point? And regardless of his status, that will create major problems for him. It will, at the very least, be very difficult to cover up and may convince his allies that he is an unpredictable lunatic, and best jettisoned. It destroys his character in the very same episode he is introduced.

I could go on and on here. Avoid this dull, idiotic series that doesn't even bother putting much effort into its world. Read Larry Correia's excellent "Hard Magic" series instead if you want a more realistic, mature story featuring superpowers.

at 1st i thought its just a regular heist job but i was a bit surprised when it was super powered humans who steal shit to survive? but i was hyped i love me some morally grey shows..

soo whats wrong with this show?? the story sounds solid, the characters are hot and have great chemistry, the art style seems cool and on top of that they are some decent action scenes too....in theory this show has everything it needs to be a great show but thats where netflix comes in....

time and time again netflix proves why we shldnt trust them to ... put out a good show they set our hopes very high only to fall flat...the loose ends and the plot holes in this show are just too much to ignore. examples of this

1.why are john's friends not caught along with john? they just never get caught only john does its almost like the writers forget about them and bring them up when they are needed for the plot

2.they never explained why there were no superheroes in japan

3.they set up things like "who's john's father" in the 1st episode but that was never mentioned again..

the plot is just rushed our in the end this its an 24 episode anime cramped into 13th episodes they focused more on outsmarting everyone than the actual plot because of this everything was just soo obvious... the "shocking" moments were not shocking like at all..

because of cramping a full plot in 3 episodes the viewers including are just left unsatisfied...because the writers themselves where the ones who set the bar...the show started of in a high note the 1st 5 episodes were really great but after that it was a down hill...

soo add this to the long list of wasted opportunity in the catalogue of netflix like seriously they drooped a massive stone in this one....this show could have been an anime that has a good mixture of western traits but still an anime...

OVERALL: do is it worth watching? i mean if u are into this genre then yes even tho this show has a lot of flaws its still is not that bad and i did have fun watching it...soo all in all if u can look past the plot holes u will enjoy this show

Unique style of anime you'll end up loving even if the story is not that thorough.

Characters are all a parody of their own from the outside, but they are dead serious in their world, so much that it makes them feel real enough and not flat at all, in the end everyone cheers up for their success given they don't have it easy.

Story's pacing is not so bad, could be better, in the sense that it falls in generic but good category, nothing innovative about that.

Art is a bit unique, it has a direction of older animes but as clean as newer ones but ... it's also not so much different that you can't forget about it.

Music is really good and fits perfectly.

Everything lines up to make you feel the 80-90's atmosphere the anime is supposed to be in. Its interesting to see so much "exploited" topics (super-powers, 80's, comedy, parody/useless characters, real life effort) get so well entangled and done in a single anime.

It is an entertaining watch because it has a unique style, it's short and to me the action is done quite well. Characters are somewhat likeable and te best part about them to me, are their designs.

The biggest flaw to me is its story which doesn’t feel quite relevant to care about it. It basically sums up as a series of superhero heists, which adds up to the entertainment aspect but not to an interesting narrative at all. I can see as well what other reviewers say that the gore aspect is a bit pointless but at least is somewhat funny.

Overall i wood ... say its a mid to a good anime since at least the setting and style of the anime are somewhat unique.

Watching this reminded me of another ONA Netlfix released last year called, GREAT PRETENDER. Very similar art style, very similar pacing, very similar premise. A bunch of obscure, no connection criminals work together to outsmart some of the most powerful and dangerous people in their world. The only difference with this one is it that it superpowered based. That foundation definitely gives it its own unique spin that makes it entertaining. Something I noticed with a lot of animated "super hero" shows is that they do not hold back on the gore and this is no exception. In some scenes it heightens the mood, in ... other scenes it seems like too much but the sense of thrill is not lost. I honestly thought the beginning of this was very standard or basic and a bit boring but after the main character drops his friends for the chance at something better the story picks up and takes you along on a ride worth being on. I thought that the powers in this were definitely different and unique fitting the story's circumstances but not too obscure to where you don't think anything they are doing is out of this world or unrealistic. I did find the lack of initial thought into the development of the villains was disappointing but then I later realized it was not needed. If the story was longer then maybe but it was short and to the point. The story is not overally original, the development is not overly deep but this series is relatable and it brings a certain nostalgia if you grew up on super heroes like I did. Definitely worth watching

Aw shit...another netflix show.Now hear me out on this one. It actually does not suck. No its quite enjoyable,not in a guilty pleasure way like Yasuke.It legit has some good things. I think it's awesome having a goated studio like Bones get to adapt a western hero comic.I know little about hero stuff but there is a newer trend where there are more gritty and violent takes on superheroes and this show really does follow the same vein.

STORY AND CHARACTERS
Instead of being mostly about heroes it's about the super villains or the “super crooks’. There were comparisons made to Great Pretender with its concept, and ... that comparison is valid, but instead of multiple missions, there are one or two grand missions, instead of the scam artists having some code of ethics, the only rule the villains have is to not kill anyone,and instead of multiple villains,there is one villain, well there are a lot of villains,but there is one grand “antagonist”, and he is absolutely fucked in the head.I’ll admit, this show is not for everyone.This anime feels like The Boys meets Great Pretender.With visceral violent action and absurdity mixed with a carefree and refined tone.And i’m a sucker for stuff like that.Also, really cool commentary on temptation and the way of life that makes both heroes and villains no different from one another.Luckily that commentary is addressed more in a comedic way.All the characters dont have much of a tragic backstory or anything, theyre just normal people who live on the lower end of american society,so seeing them doing their villain thing is really cool.The only character who did have a sense of likeability was Kasey. She was not only hot and a badass at times, but she had actual goals she wanted to accomplish.And While I don't buy Johnny Bolt and her together, I sorta liked how his shitty actions did shed some light on why he and she are villain like in nature.

My problem with the story of Super Crooks is that it takes a bit to get going. There are almost four episodes dedicated to set up characters, and while it's good, it could've trimmed the pacing in places especially since the getaway scene looked like something out of Spy Kids 3D. Also, the pacing is shaky in places, having fight scenes with zombies and heroes take forever to get through.And scenes explaining the evil villian corporation or whatever did lose me. Also some world building elements I dont get.Like apparently San Francisco,one of the most iconic destinations in America is lacking of heroes, and the heroes they do call for are ridiculously incompitent and end up killing civilians.But when the show gets going, it gets going.A lot of fun action scenes and very ridiculous moments.Also some moments were really dark and messed up.

ART AND ANIMATION
Goddamnit. Bones you done it again. This show looks so damn good, probably the best looking netflix original anime i’ve seen so far. Bones doesn't just make the animation good mostly, they add a lot of creativity to it.Using the weird powers to make some really weird and fantastic action sequences. Also, i didn't realize this till now. But Bones is really good at body horror. The violence and gore in this show is so insane and highly detailed. I even gagged a little at iit.There was one shot with this guy’s arm that looked like something out of AOT and it was so freaky and well animated.It even looked better than anything in season 4 of AOT. Yeah I said it.I find it funny how there is sex, graphic violence, and guys cursing like sailors,but they still pixelate middle fingers, very weird.The way they stylized the american locations were cool too, having a lot of spinoff brands like the CDE channel, Somy cameras, and Taco Ball.The designs in some scenes even look like a well animated western cartoon.Really awesome direction too.Im kinda shocked this show is 13 episodes, and each episode being longer than your standard anime.They were really flexible with their animation budget, especially if its coming from Netflix.

SOUND
The ost is weird, its like this laidback funk electronic music that never really ends,but its put in the background so much,you barely notice it.Aaaaand the Netflix dub. Its a netflix dub. It has really great voice actors,but really shitty directing.Basically most Netflix dubs in a nutshell.

ENJOYMENT
I honestly don’t know my rating for this one. I know Netflix gets so much shit for their anime, and rightfully so. But this one seems the most “competently done” compared to everything else.It was nowhere near as crap as I expected, it put into perspective how not good Yasuke was.It did not fully hook me at first but eventually it got me hooked. I know it might not be highly rated, some might find it boring or silly.i’m not gonna call the show shit depending on how inaccurate it is to the man-oop i mean “comic”.But it is really fun, silly characters, fucked up sense of humor, and animated by my fav studio of all time,my cup of tea for sure.

Overall-7
I didnt realize this,but seeing all the heroes and guys in tight clothing reminded me a lot of MHA, made by the same studio...soooooo they’re in the same universe.CONFIRMED.

Although the original premise is good, there were a lot of cliches that were really hard to look past. All the love interests in this series so far have no personality other than being eye candy and I really wish they would have added at least a couple of female superheroes. Most of my time watching this series was spent thinking "man, the girl deserves better than this".

The art style was a mix between DC comics and anime, but not in a good way. The main character had a lot of flaws, and he seems very unlikeable to me. Maybe if you really like ... superheroes and action, then you will enjoy this anime.

This anime manages to fall short in every area. It has some great moments and sequences, but they're buried within a pile of rubbish. The writing is garbage, the animation is underwhelming, and it overall feels like a cheap attempt to copy the likes of Invincible, The Boys, and The Great Pretender--an attempt where the writers of this show completely missed what makes the others great. The show seems like it has promise in the first several episodes--the characters have interesting premises and the powers are creative--but it just keeps getting worse and worse in the middle.

Super Crooks is a show that tries to ... simultaneously juggle being a fun, goofy superhero show and being a more serious take on the superhero genre, but it fails at both. These different tones end up completely undermining each other, and the setting has no internal consistency. When the situation is tense and emotions are high in one particular scene at the end of the middle arc, the scene is resolved with something so jaw-droppingly stupid that it makes Sword Art Online's "Why'd you do this?" "I forgot the reason" scene look good.

The show does somewhat redeem itself in the last few episodes (which end up feeling like a completely different show), but not enough for me to recommend it.

Super Crooks is an incredibly fun short series about a bunch of super-powered criminals.

In only 13 episodes, we get a jewel heist, a high-speed car chase, a prison break, a complex stealth operation, and plenty more. It's nonstop action with good variety, and some pretty cool uses of the various villains' unique powers.

The characters themselves are pretty likable. Johnny Bolt - the main character - is cocky, egotistical, and a bit reckless; but he's a genuinely smart, good-hearted dude that you just want to root for, despite his flaws. His relationship with Kasey is honestly really well done, and Kasey herself is a really well-written ... character in her own right.

The rest of the crew are a lot of fun too. I particularly liked the Heat, an old retired supervillain who comes back for one last job - a chance to get filthy rich by assembling a crew of bad guys with specialized abilities. He's a great mentor character who's still got some bite to him.

While there are better heist anime out there (this show is no Lupin III by any means), Super Crooks is still a fun 13 episodes and doesn't wear out its welcome.

There are a few minor nitpicks:

- I don't really think Johnny's origin story as a wannabe hero was particularly necessary or added much to the story. It only takes up the first episode, but I feel like it could be cut without losing much.

- Johnny Bolt looks *way* less cool when he shaves his beard for the final arc.

But eh, other than that, it's a fun series. I definitely recommend it.

Super Crooks is just super fun to watch and actually has a great story behind it. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants an anime relating to heist-type stuff, like Great Pretender.

Story - 10
From the first episode, I knew this anime was going to be super fun and engaging. I know some people didn’t like what the first episode happened to be, but I thought it was a great start to an anime, and I didn’t find it boring at all. Continuing on, the story keeps its fast and exciting pace. The heists are interesting and fun to follow. The concept of superpowers ... isn’t pushed to much that you get annoyed if you don’t like superpower anime. It’s just used as a part of the story which actually makes it even more creative and enjoyable.

Art - 8
Not my favorite art style, but there is nothing wrong with it. I do like how bright the colors are.

Sound - 9
Some of the soundtracks are pretty catchy, and I think the opening and ending are pretty good and well-suited for this anime.

Characters - 9
Johnny is a great main character, he is so fun and lovable. I love that the first episode showed his history. I find that often times anime like this will attempt to quickly show the history of all of the main characters to show how they got to this point, but showing an extensive background to one of the characters served so much better. The other characters were fun and interesting enough that I didn’t need to waste my time with their backstory. A few of the side characters stand out a bit more than others, however, they are mostly all great. One thing I didn’t like though was how much sexual focus was put on the main female character in the show. This was unnecessary.

Enjoyment - 10
Super Crooks is just so fun to watch, from start to end. The pace is perfect, so you never get bored. It’s full of high-tension scenes, but still has a great plot. This is just an awesome watch.

This anime has a few minor problems, and isn’t the most memorable anime ever. But it’s so much fun.

Gonna be honest, I was buzzed through the majority of watching this with some friends, which yes is the correct way to enjoy any Netflix Original Anime presented to you- and yes, I will gladly die on that hill.
So elephant in the room, the artwork and CG of the show is sub-par throughout the show almost to the point that it doesn't look like you're watching an anime- especially an anime from Bones, but it will even out around the 3 to 4 episode mark. The characters provide an ample amount of entertainment (Gladiator, Johnny, and The Diesel Brothers mainly coming to mind) and creative ... usage of superpowers was honestly the only reasons that kept me watching, and the intro that looks like something out of GTA San Andreas cutscene did too but in a "You're tearing me apart Lisa" kind of way.
Overall it's a absurd/dumb fun thriller reminiscent of similar shows like The Boys that allows for it's characters to be flawed in enjoyable yet smarmy ways, which I think over time it will lend to show holding up and being more memorable then the vast majority of the shows currently airing in the same season.

As a sidebar, I would recommend watching Jupiter's Legacy before watching this show as it is set in the same universe and will help add much needed context some of the glossed over moments

Although, this show isn't perfect by any means it is entertaining. My biggest gripe with the show is primarily the first episode. Johnny's backstory does little in progressing the show. I would of liked it if his actions were explored more throughout the show. However, the show is fun and from episode 2 to 13 I was invested in the world. The last arc of the show was also kind of lack luster. The story isn't anything too special and is similar to Great Pretender when it comes to story progression. The art is great. The music is also nice and helps to enhance many ... scenes. All of the characters are enjoyable in their own right. However, a lack of character development is what really draws the show back. Overall, its a good show its better than other shows this season such as "Reincarnated Assassin" and "Paladin".

This anime I thought was absolutely addicting from start until finish and I love every single character, because they all have their own fun and comical personalities. At first to be honest I didn’t know what to think, because of the tittle. But, at first to be honest I thought it was lame. But, a soon as I seen that this anime contained gore and dismemberment, I was like most definitely, I was like this anime right here, is right down my alley. I hope whoever else watches this anime, enjoys it as much as than I did. The only issue that I have with ... this anime, is that it was short, all of the good anime usually only have one season. If you love gore, then you’ll love this anime I promise you.

TL;DR: is it worth watching? Yes if you are into the gangsta. / Baccano! vibes. It has a well informed western atmosphere, superheroes, overall entertaining events, dynamic action/animation and a wide amount of in depth characters. It has many plot-twists but they are pretty predictable once you start catching on to the pattern of the story.

Super Crooks Recap (minor spoilers)
Super crooks is a superhero-supervillian anime where the righteous are employed by the union of justice caring about their public image and upholding absolute justice while the evil lurk in the shadows under an overbearing criminal organization dubbed the network (with the exception of stragglers like ... Johnny and Kasey). This anime takes place in a chaotic America where heroes overwhelmingly outnumber villians and We follow a social outcast Johnny as he discovers his unique electricity manipulation powers. His misfortunate journey of aiming high for justice but causing accidents with his powers leads him into supermax, a high security prison that holds supervillians. After his sentence, Johnny moves back into society as a seemingly changed man; However, trouble finds him once again when he and his subordinates almost get caught during a jewelry heist within a day of Johnny's release. Kasey, Johnny's girlfriend has a 'big job' that promises to pay big and once the heist is over they will live a life of mundane luxury away from petty crimes and conflict asserted by Union of justice and the network. This big job carries heavy risks which could set the team back heavily.

[Spoiler] it does happen when Praetorian and The Bastard intervene to prevent the mission completion. 5 years later, the team get together to do one final heist after an altercation with Salamander, the new step-in boss of the network catches old man the Heat cheating in a casino and is forced to pay-up USD $100 million. The final heist is the biggest risk the team has faced so far and carries much more risk than the previous job 5 years prior yet they reluctantly reconcile for the final heist.

Story: 6/10 (SPOILERS)
The American influence and experience can be seen in the anime through the Marvel references, scenery, character clothing and mannerism and much more. I haven't read the comic but I did hear that these were all influenced by the experience of the author who travelled to the US during his career. Naturally, there is a lot of Film convenience - when the Bastard catches the team after they return to the Romanian hideout with the 'goods' he spares them all out of goodwill because of his 'retirement' or when Praetorian is about to catch Johnny and his small-time partners in crime but is somehow saved by Kasey who had afternoon waitress shift at her vegan restaurant job. The story does well to tie loose ends by the closing scene with people of Johnny's past (Tom who becomes a journalist and wanted to promote Electro Boy in the first episode) or the team members living situation and even the closure of the final mission exposing Salamander as the criminal mastermind behind the super crook team's seizure of The Bastard's possessions.

Art Animation & Sound: 7/10
The art style was unexpectedly very detailed and had a high contrast, cool dark tonal color palette in dark scenes (Supermax flashbacks, scenes involving The Bastard) and warm, colorful palettes in heartwarming/happy scenes (scenes typically involving Kasey, members of the teams MC joins) The animation style during action scenes are fluid, dynamically violent and graphic with guts, limbs and head explosions being a common occurrence throughout the series. But don't forget to blur out the middle finger because that's much worse than seeing torn off limbs or organ splatter (Jap logic??)

The VA did a great job voicing the characters, it helped a lot with formulating personalities of the different characters in the heist team. Furthermore, the music used weren't the typical suspenseful deep dark tone, they were instead the psychedelic, abstract type with different styles of instruments. I wasn't very clued in on the style of audio but it did help with setting the mood in fight scenes.

Character: 7/10
Honestly, despite having so many characters in focus at once did a lot on me mentally but the different character backgrounds allowed me to empathize with their reason to revolt against the network and the union of justice (not that I condone crime) Characters with important family relationships like TK MCabe or entrepreneur type characters like Forecast and surprisingly Roddy Diesel shaped how the overall team dynamic played out during mission-time. Also blackmailing Gladiator into joining the final job was a pretty interesting turn of events; I think Gladiator had the most outspoken personality - his dialogue is just so different (end of Ep11 as a swimming Gladiator approaches the island he says "90 minutes, I can shave time off that" which is a chad way to assert dominance). Overall, the wide characters also meant the main characters Kasey and Johnny weren't as extravagant and heavily focused but it did mean we weren't always locked onto them burning us out by episode 5.

Overall & Enjoyment: 7/10
I was pleasantly surprised to have watched this just as it aired on Netflix and it is probably one of the decent anime series licensed to Netflix. It didn't suffer from being generic and had a reasonably easy to follow story. The characters had vast backgrounds and behavioral tendencies despite being a short series which made character development a lot less 1 dimensional. Overall, I did watch with an open mind for this since it isn't really my type of anime and I will probably forget about it down the line despite enjoying the viewing experience.
