Buttobi!! CPU

Buttobi CPU (I Dream of Mimi), I can’t say I went into this show with a lot of expectations of quality but I came out pleasantly surprised. Though it is quite dated from a visual and audio aspect, it does do a good job of being pretty funny. If you like computer themed humor and very high echii content you’re likely to get some extra laughs and enjoyment from this. It’s listed as hentai... and it’s pretty close to the borderline. There are a lot of very adult themes and sexual humor and situations, so this isn’t for the kids, but ... it’s not porn either. There is a lot of nudity but everything is not shown like a normal hentai would. So I would keep that in mind before you consider watching this.

If you have seen Chobits, this show is going to feel really familiar though Buttobi CPU is far more perverted. The basic premise of the show is Akira buys what he thinks is a new desktop computer from a shady salesman but ends up with a naked android girl he later names Mimi. Basically all of Mimi's operations require some kind of sexual act. From her initial memory download to the pretty humorous memory upgrades (which require sexual intercourse to increase). Loading various programs is done with data discs, and I think you can probably guess where they are inserted. If you can’t figure it out then you’re too young to watch this. I have to say it was surprisingly well done and I found myself laughing quite a bit.

Because of this series length though developing any kind of good story is impossible. The overall plot eventually develops into the Japanese android models fighting against American models, hilariously called Nacitosh's and obviously taking after various 90s versions of Apple products. The action is pretty good and does a good job of mixing in humor, echii, and entertaining battle scenes. The ending is also quite funny. There is also a lot of what I would call "computer humor". Older computer geeks who used some of the computers being parodied in this series will probably get an extra few laughs. A lot of the technology references will also probably go right over the heads of most people watching this. Computer technology has changed a lot since the mid 90s after all!

Characters are definitely the strongest point of this series. Mimi and Akira are really funny, and make a cute couple. Mimi has a little tsundere in her but she comes across as a surprisingly interesting character. Unlike a show like Chobits where the main has a limited vocabulary that seems to consist of one really annoying word, Mimi comes fully functional and makes for a much more enjoyable character. Akira is pretty typical for what you would expect for a show like this but he isn’t a complete loser. He still manages to be quite entertaining though as he is forced into various echii and sexual situations with Mimi. Also trying to keep his friends from finding out about what she really is gets pretty funny as well. The supporting characters don’t get a lot of depth but are still pretty enjoyable and funny. The highlight here is the three "Nacintosh sisters" who are the primary villains, the two older ones in particular.

Visually this series is quite dated. As with most 90s shows the colors seem to be washed out and the animation is not as crisp and detailed. Still it is a lot better than most shows I have seen from this era. The music is also very dated feeling, though is still pretty cute. The acting is spotty, some of it feels pretty good but at other times... it sounds like porn actresses. Oh and DO NOT, I repeat NOT listen to the English audio track if you value your sanity. You have been warned!

Overall though I thought this show was pretty funny, in particular the last two episodes. If you like echii comedy I would recommend this series too you. People though looking for hentai are going to be disappointed. In the end this series was worth the 90 minutes or so it took to watch.

Well for one thing this is not a Hentai anime as it is more ecchi but borderline Hentai.The main thing of this anime is to make you laugh at the situations they get themselfs into and how mimi gets her physical memory to survive.
This is not suitable for viewers under the age of 17 but under strict adult supervision at all times it would be ok for no younger than 15 years of age (imo).It was a surprise for me to see this rated as a hentai and futari ecchi was not as futari ecchi is borderline hentai to the max.Anime like this ... I like to class as mature ecchi or mega ecchi.

Pros of this anime are.
1.A very entertaining laugh while taking on a mature sailor moon approach.
2.Good to pull out when your having a bad or depressing day to cheer your self up.
3.People who like extreme fan service while not going into the hentai region will love this.

Cons of this anime are.
1.The company who made this might give people a fright as they produce a mass amount of hardcore hentai which might make people run away from this.
2.Hardcore hentai fans will want their money back before they even look at it as it's not in the hentai region by a long way.
3.Some people might feel uncomfortable while looking at it with parents or granparents present.

sex/nudity. 3/5. Not to extreme in sexual content as its mostly implied but not graphically shown while the nudity level is less than most mature anime ie. elfin lied but used in a sexual context which puts the age rating of this anime higher than most.
language. 2/5. Not very bad but mostly light on sware words as goes for sexual referencess but not what you want young children to hear/repeat.
Violence. 3/5. Mostly fantasy and slapstick violence ie. kicks and laser blasts etc.
Profanity. 3/5. Mostly crude non-explicit humor with a few panty shots and a few provocative fighting styles.

Overall I would give it a well deserved 17 + rating but not a nc-17 rating.Should not be viewed by young adolescents or kids by any means (IMO).

If you watch this show as a comedy. I bet that it's gonna crack you up at least once. If you watch this show back in the 90s, It'd give off a completely different feelings. This series meant to be a sci-fi, action kinda show, but the technology in the show is very out dated to the point that you kinda wonder how can they operate a cyborg on intel pentium 1. The visual was quit something here. It's far better than any hentai in 1997 and still look decent to me even now. Overall this is a very good hentai even by today standard.

I threw this on my watchlist because it was a 90s anime about computers that had an English dub made at some point. I thought it'd be fun to have on while doing something else.

It turned out to be Chobits, but a porn.

I don't want to appear like I'm ragging on it just because it's softcore porn, because I'm not. I was just not expecting that and not at all in the mood for it, so it had a distinct disadvantage. This is definitely not good. It's quite bad. It's not even terribly sexy on its own terms. However, I would be lying if I ... said there was nothing appealing about it. I did finish it, after all.

I'm not sure I really have a mood for this, considering how much I disliked (the first episode of) Chobits. Whereas I felt Chobits took itself too seriously and was too slow on top of that, this has an alright clip and, although not very funny, it has a nice vibe. The atmosphere is pleasant. If you came for the computers, the villains are 90s Mactintoshes and the software comes on floppies and MiniDisc. I don't regret watching it because those are the sorts of things I actually wanted to see, but it's bad and I would not recommend it.

If you are into computer history and you're not shy of some ecchi content this OVA definitely is for you.

The art is what you would expect from a classic 90's anime, the animation is stunning and detailed, that was not a surprise for me after leaning that the studio, OLM, was also behind the original Pokémon, Berserk and Yamato 2199.

The protagonists, Mimi and Akira, are great. They make a cute and believable couple from the start.
The whole gag with technical jargon, computer specifications and manufactures is quite entertaining and made me laugh in every episode.

It's a light watch with a lot of ecchi fan service, ... comedy and action.
It's a shame this OVA has only three episodes, it certainly deserved more.
