IMPORTANT: I found this anime through completely random selection and made myself watch it in a personal journey of mine to discover niche and cool underrated anime. So, when watching this OVA, I had completely no context from the other entries in this series. I will be basing this review off this anime alone, without connection to the other entries.
Now for the review, first impressions from part 1 were actually quite positive. The anime sets up with a simple but effective premise: A magical deity wiped the memories of 5 people in order to help fulfill a mission to save humanity. The beginning is mostly

introducing our characters and getting the premise set up. After that, the characters bond with each other using their powers to cheat in a casino to get a car for their mission, it was very nice as it not only let the characters bond with eachother but it also was a chance to get to know how each character's powers benefit the group.
Now would also be a good time to mention that there isn't really a protagonist for this anime, it's more of focusing on the group as a whole. I assume that Locke is a major character given that he seems to be present on all of the other entries but in this entry he really only had one moment where he had a major impact on the plot, so it diddn't really matter. The rest of episode one isn't much to talk about, but the group does eventually find themselves onto the UFO which supposedly is what they have been looking for
(Warning: Spoilers Ahead)
Now, Part 2 is where I got confused. The first segment of it was fine, it was just the group surviving in the desert and even one of the main characters dying at one point from going insane. Personally, the death didn't hit too hard as there wasn't much known about him other than the fact that he has super vision, which was very useful to the team. Shortly after, the group gets kidnapped by a man who lives in the base.
After this, however, the plot started to lose me. Earlier during part one we got introduced to Lan, who cheating on his girlfriend with the deity who explained the mission to the group. However, it doesn't seem to be mentioned in the story what his goals or motives are. Personally, I didn't even known if he was on the side of the group or against them.
During part 2, there's a lot of things mentioned that never get elaborated on. In fact, the last 20 minutes of part 2 left me with more questions than the first 20 minutes of part 1. The group seems to get their memories back but it's unclear as to why exactly that happened. Additionally, another character from the group dies sacrificing themself to save Locke. The story says he has a family however it's never made clear how the family is doing, and he dies before he could even explain it to the other 3. The last bit of the story is the group fighting the man who kidnapped them, but the whole time it was really Locke doing all the fighting and dodging while the other 2 girls didn't seem to contribute. At the end the group uses all their power to teleport the UFO away before the army of ships could have destroyed it, it isn't exactly clear why they did this, personally.
The ending also leaves me with questions; the group captures Lan and then the story just... ends. Just like that. What they were planning to do with him and why they teleported the UFO away still remains a mystery to me.
Overall, the plot had confusing moments but the story surprisingly held up well on its own despite being the 3rd in a 4 OVA series. I did enjoy this though and I don't recommend anyone to do what I did. Instead, start with the earlier entries and maybe this one will make more sense.
