Tenkuu Shinpan

Upon witnessing a man's head cracked open with an axe, 16-year-old Yuri Honjou trembles in fear and confusion as she flees from the masked assailant, only to find out she's trapped in an abandoned building where every door is mysteriously locked. Desperately searching for a way out, Yuri runs to the rooftop, but a world with no signs of life stands before her, surrounded by high-rise buildings. Though filled with despair, once she learns that her brother is also in this strange place, Yuri is determined to find him and escape.

However, she soon finds that there are more masked murderers in the area, anxious to terrorize their newfound victims and satiate their sickest desires, leaving Yuri to question if they will be able to make it out alive.

High-Rise Invasion is an action-packed anime that throws you into a chaotic world of towering skyscrapers, masked killers, and nonstop danger. The premise is bold and unique, and the series wastes no time diving into its survival-game chaos.

Yuri Honjou is a standout protagonist—strong, determined, and easy to root for as she fights her way through a brutal and bizarre new reality. The action is intense, the pacing is sharp, and the visuals bring the high-stakes world to life in a way that’s both stylish and gripping.

While it’s wild and occasionally over-the-top, that’s part of the fun. If you enjoy high-energy, edge-of-your-seat anime with a dark ... twist and a fierce female lead, High-Rise Invasion is an exhilarating watch that doesn’t disappoint.

Mixed Feelings

The first few episodes have a lot of plot holes which makes it frustrating to start watching, but it gets a bit better as it goes on. The story isn't all that great, the show is really carried by its cast of characters and the fun they have with different types of masks/villains. There's an absurd amount of panty shots, up-skirts, and 'naked' scenes that really detract from the show as a whole. Unfortunately the story doesn't get wrapped up in one season and it doesn't seem likely that it will ever get a second season, so you'll never see the ending if you don't ... read the manga.

Overall I'd say its a decent show to throw on in the background, but it's nothing impressive. 5/10

I went into Tenkuu Shinpan with pretty high expectations—the premise is genuinely intriguing, and I’m always on the lookout for a solid dark anime to dive into. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to its potential.

While the idea behind the story is unique, the execution feels rushed and underdeveloped. There's an overwhelming amount of fan service that often distracts from the narrative, making it hard to stay emotionally invested. While the character designs are visually appealing, the characters themselves are shallow and underwritten, making it difficult to care about their fates or motivations. Most of them feel one-dimensional, and the story never really slows down ... enough to let you connect with them. All in all, this show ended up feeling more like a rough sketch than a finished product.

That said, it’s not unwatchable. If you’re just looking to check it off your list or want something to throw on in the background while cooking or cleaning, it might still serve a purpose.

One redeeming quality is the art. I quite liked the small details, like how cuts in characters' clothes stayed with them throughout the show until they picked up new supplies, and the same went for tools and weapons. It’s a nice touch that adds realism to the survival game aspect, and it’s an element often overlooked in anime.

Overall: Tenkuu Shinpan has a killer premise, but it turned out to be just another survival game where the struggle is staying engaged.
