The two revolve around a group of girls who fight against some kind of creatures: witches in Madoka Magica and Wonder Killers in Wonder Egg Priority. Both shows hide a dark truth behind all their glitter and seemingly bright nature.

Young girls journey through dreamlike sequences with a touch of surreal, psychological horror and possible yuri

While tone and design of WEP and Lain differ strongly, both animes are psychological mystery stories with similar themes (for example, suicides) and heavy symbolism.
report Recommended by SiwyMangaNoob
Altought both animes are extremely different to each other, the MC of Wonder Egg and Neon Genesis are 14 years old persons who have several psychological traumas that affect clearly their relationships with other people. Not only that, they share that there are two settings, the real world and the onirical world. They follow for the earlier part the monster-of-the-week structure with the monsters (Angels in Evangelion) being quite different and some of them are pretty psychedelic. In the battles, the MCs of Wonder Egg Priority and Neon Genesis Evangelion struggle mightly against their own minds, while most of the time cruise in beating the monsters. In  read more

- Centers around a group of young girls - You, the viewer, experiences some great world building right alongside the characters as they explore a new world - Each episode we get to see how the supernatural world changes our protagonists in order for them to survive which makes it exciting to watch - Nothing is what it really seems just like in WEP

If you liked Mahou Shoujo Site, (For some odd reason...) you may enjoy WEP. Their immediate similarities are the themes that the show both have. Both main characters have dealt (or are) dealing with traumatic experiences. (Bullying being the main one).

Young people find themselves in dreamlike scenaries in order to save a beloved person.
report Recommended by Joestark
The style of the dreamlike world where you can not be sure what is real and what is not is really similar in the two anime. There also seem to be an inner conflict that needs to be solved in order to bring peace back to the world.

With youth comes new struggles, taking on the form of many different kinds. Bunny Girl Senpai and WEP both understand such distress well. With WEP, being on how girls deal with the passing of another connected to them in some way. Bunny Girl Senpai focuses more on the solo issues that girls deal with due to supernatural puberty effects. It should also be noted that both are more based on characters than an actual story, creating for some interesting individuals who one may find relatable or believable, depending on how you look at it. Both are good anime with WEP being a dark, slightly cryptic, psychological anime  read more

Sarazanmai and Wonder Egg Priority definitely give off the same vibe, they both have a weird premise but give off very clear and inspiring messages.

Both are mystery themed stories with psychological elements in it and some dark storytelling elements in it as well too.

It has a similar vibe to it. Kid with problems gets dragged into bizarre situations and scenarios while he slowly became a more mature person. I find FLCL to be more complex both in themes and characters while having similar themes of maturity as Wonder Egg Priority, so, give it a chance

Transcending universal logic for the sake of an individual may seem like something common, but the feat is not an easy one at that. Both Erased and WEP follow characters who will do their utmost to save those with varying importance to their lives. Erased does this with Satoru jumping through time for the sake of saving 3 individuals soon to die due to a serial killer. WEP does this with teenage girls wanting to save those dearest to them through fighting against evil. Both are pretty somewhat good psychological anime. WEP having action to add on than the mystery/detective type story in Erased.

Both series tackle serious problems in society in relation to the growth, acceptance and reconciliation with peoples' pasts and how they change from it. Both also mention deep themes such as bullying and suicide.

We're first greeted with an unfamiliar school-like (or just school) setting with a unique twist alongside it. They start out with what can be described as "confusing" or "bizarre" and rather than you giving you the full puzzle, they give you one piece at a time and let the viewer figure things out in similar manners.

(The entire monogatari series) Just the entire feeling of absolute weirdness and unique animation/shot composition and having an incredible rewatch value for its symbolism. The OST also feels really similar for an obvious reason since Mito worked on a lot of monogatari openings.

monstrous world inside im brs fantastic animation and silient dialogues. you may have to overthink what is going on in wonder egg be care and watch 13' episode before blaming on silly plot but overall it is still about self-care and psy problems that can be solved with a sword

Confusing plot about girls trying to save girls out of love and guilt in a surreal setting which switches from dream to reality. Bullying is the main theme in both. Also some magical girl-esque scenes

Death. Death in WEP and DP, are both used in some dark and unsettling ways, taking on sensitive topics whilst they are at it. It ends up making a pretty deep story for both WEP and DP to share. How people also react to the deaths of others, closely relate to them or not, is also something both anime take a look into, bringing forward interesting scenarios to play with. DP doing this through games played by the dead and WEP doing this with girls fighting for those who lost their lives. Both also feature females who happen to know pretty much both worlds relative to  read more

Before this recommendation gets yeeted out for being absurd. The psychological takes on both these anime are actually quite similar to the point in which they can be somewhat controversial. I personally wasn't a fan of Golden Time's particular antics that made it impossible to enjoy, but the same is true for some with WEP. It's not as if this is something out of a random idea, since both anime do touch on the effects that people will gain from past relationships and how that will impact people around them as well as the current present they live in. Look for WEP if you want some action  read more

Anti-suicide stories about coming of age. Miserable kids are suffering hard lives and at some point meet something supernatural. By helping those who already died they grow up and help themselves as well.

Both shows use contemporary dark fantasy, supernatural powers and horror to look into a number of delicate themes from the perspective of young teenage girls. Themes include child abuse, dysfunctional family, sexual abuse, suicide, forbidden relations and other taboo subject matters. Both share a similar narrative structure and atmosphere. In the respective first halves, in an episodic monster-of-the-week style the unnatural death of a deceased side character is handled by a protagonist using her supernatural ability to communicate with the dead and bring redemption. Then the focus shifts to the traumatic backstory of the protagonists themselves in more detail. Both shows only slowly unravel the  read more

These series had similar elements but different strengths. Two tales of a group of girls becoming empowered to fight against a mystical-- and at times sci-fi-esque-- sort of evil by exploring and overcoming their inner demons... Wonder Egg Priority is notably heavier on the darkness and inner demons. And it's got this 'wow' factor that Akanesasu Shoujo kind of lacks. But... it turns into this total trainwreck starting at about episode 8. Wonder Egg was a show of extremes. When it was good, it was amazing. But when it got bad, it was really terrible. Meanwhile, Akanesasu may not have been as striking an experience... But I  read more

May look like a stretch, but WEP and Another do have some kind of destructive class environment with borderline gorey type content. Honestly, looking at the two, they are both quite unsettling and that only improving in expanding how unsettling and unearthly things get the more you look into things. Both anime have characters that look for good though, fighting through something no student should face in the name of fixing the broken order currently existing. Both are good anime looking into how students deal with calamities with one another.

both are downbeat summery like settings and stories that have a focus on psychological like storytelling and some touchy story themes in it as well too.

Like Wonder Egg, Artiswitch portrays human problems using surreal imagery in a dream-like world. While Wonder Egg covers teen suicide, Artiswitch covers other problems like fear of being different.

Both anime are from CloverWorks and the MC from both anime are also very similar. Ren and Ai are doing this "rehabilitation" things to treat themselves. They also teamed up with their friends to fight "monster" in another world that was based on human's emotion and psychology.

I don't know what the hell is going in either of these but god damn are they enjoyable. I feel like the events in both of these anime are told out of order similarly. When everything connects and you look deeper into each episode you come out very satisfied.

Psychological horror, what's better? Both also have blood and guts though, if that's your thing. And lolis.

Anime Wonder Egg Priority I think that this anime is very similar in plot and moments as well as graphics, I really liked the plot of this anime as well as the very disclosure of the characters and it was the impression that the characters themselves are similar in character or purpose to protect or return someone. Nevertheless, you can expect a lot of emotions and strong feelings for the characters themselves from both of these stories, I recommend it.

- Both have a very similar style in animation and art - Both very sad - Both have to do with killing monsters made from people's emotions - Both psychological in some way - Both have a sort of creepy feel to them

Both feature a young cast, and both are psychological horrors. Stars Align is a bit more down-to-earth seeing as there is no gore, nor are their supernatural elements--Still, both anime tackle tough issues regarding abuse and trauma. Also, both works feature LGBTQ+ themes, particularly themes regarding gender.

They both have similar Psychological horror feels and it makes you tense at any moment. If you liked Yakusoku no neverland I think you'll like Wonder egg priorty.

They are both fantasy and very colourful. However, they have very different stories. Wonder egg priority has more of a action, psychological horror and dark theme to it, while howls moving castle has more of the novel, romance side to it, but has a slightly dark theme to it as well. For some reason, when i watched wonder egg priority, it reminds me of howls moving castle. Both have good art styles and the flow of the story is smooth. Anyways go watch it!

young girls and their journey in their psyches, searching for an answer. Both are great shows, but if you especially like symbolic imagery and a more abstract take to story telling, Haibane Renmei is a must watch.

Both shows are about how society fails girls and how adults can fail children. The themes they deal with are incredibly heavy, but both shows deal with them well. They also have beautiful animation with interesting visuals.

Both try to address similiar thing, i.e, issues faced by students which lead them to not attend schools. Both are about teleporting to another world to solve the said issues. Both have a diverse cast

I guess like the MC's are cute on the outside but kill people and the animes have a lot of blood.
report Recommended by mashy_xd
The semblance of life of our protagonists that develops as their relationship progresses in parallel with the plot is really a huge positive point. The personalities of our heroes are diametrically opposed which opens up various points of view. The animation is also superb with secondary characters that perfectly boost the anime, regarding the antagonist what I find very subjective this subject is very particular for the two works without knowing too much who is considered as "the enemy", the soundtrack is much more striking on Lycoris Recoil in my opinion but Wonder Egg priority does not demerit in anything with its originality.

They both have the same kind of animation, both about fighting monster with an incredible animation. They both have the same vibe and the main mc is also a girl.

both beautifully animated, start off innocent and then gradually become more disturbing. the characters have to fight eerie creatures out of obligation, greatly suffering and developing.

Do you like anime with very controversial endings? Well do I have the pair of the century for you… However that is their only similarity. Oreimo focuses on hiding your true self from the public, afraid that they might judge you (with a little spice in the mix). WEP has depressed and suicidal teen girls and tackles subjects like depression.

This one also deals with lots of emotional , traumatic experiences of teenagers, the sci-fi aspects are there so are a varied cast of characters. Plus its also from the same writer of Ano hana so thats there

Teenagers deal with family issues, isolation, bullying, suicidal thoughts, and together they try to make sense of it and survive. Heavy focus on psychological drama, but also action scenes. (Bokurano manga is an even more accurate recommendation, as the anime don't follow the psychological thread of the plot so deeply.)
report Recommended by Z_Tetriminos
Both are psychological thrillers, although WEP is a far sight gentler. Both depict mental illness and mature subject matter, with surreal alternate dimensions to visualize this.
report Recommended by monfernova
They both save girls from their traumas. However, Fairy Ranmaru does this in a cringey way.

The same exactly concept: Solving young girls` problems in dreamworld. Both heavily use grotesque and surreal colorful artstile to picture the dreams and have distinguished arcs dedicated to one girl each. The only notable difference so far, is that 18if has a male MC.
report Recommended by Bode
Both are about learning to accept and cope with the death (suicide) of a loved one. Both have one girl fighting the physical manifestation of another girl's inner turmoil. Both have stellar visuals as well. Zetsubou Funsai Shoujo ∞ Amida might only be a 4 min music video, but it's like a condensed (and frankly more emotional effective) version of WEP that doesn't overstay it's welcome.

A perverse sense of unease and woe as we realize not all is as it seems; these two series break down the frustrations of adolescence, growing up, and the broader human experience with a glittering sense of hope.
report Recommended by Zadion
Oppressive atmosphere, sparse music and extremely surreal setpieces. Both anime's worlds and casts spring from the mental state of the characters, reflecting their thoughts and thus essentially making both shows very detailed character studies.
report Recommended by Papa_Gen
Both anime are about Mc's that can transfer their consciousness into a dreamlike alternate world, the dreamworld's can also be very captivating, dangerous, psychological and surreal in both anime. I would say that Yumekui Merry (Dreameater Merry) is a more lighthearted approach to the dreamworld fantasy sub-genre and while Wonder Egg Priority can also be very lighthearted at times it does feature some much darker and more disturbing subject matter happening in both of it's worlds. Both are great anime so if you liked one I would definitely recommend checking out the other. Thanks for reading, -Tooru25.

Young students, some weird monsters, and a ton of fighting. MP100 and WEP have a lot of differences between the two but they cross paths with young individuals being tasked to go out and use their unnatural abilities to fight those that cause havoc. MP100 does this with Mob and the world of espers and spirits, WEP does this with Ai and her group in these unearthly atmospheres reigned by demons of some kind. Both anime also have a supplier type character who sets them on such missions. Would also like to point out the drastic presentation differences of how MP100 is essentially something that  read more

For the special one. Orange and WEP both follow a group of individuals who are willing to literally mess around with the natural order for the sake of the ones they truly care for. The main difference however is how Orange does this with students in a setting much like reality playing with the concept of time for the one that was lost along the way. WEP does this to an extreme with younger female students fighting for their life with supernatural abilities for the sake of those they lost. Both are pretty good anime, one being an incredibly sweet romance for the shoujo demographic, whereas WEP  read more

both of the main characters' friends kill "themselves" and they try and figure it out with other friends, as well as both animes having a concept of different realities and non human being that looks human being the main villain. And both main characters have mismatching coloured eyes.

roughly episodic adventures that build up the world into a kinda dark but still hopeful place, emphasis on characters trying to fulfill wishes that they probably shouldnt

OST and especially the surreal psychedelic imagery are all very similar to Space Dandy. Both series use the "Show, don't tell" tactic and I think that's very unique. They'd rather immerse you into the story rather than explaining it, it leaves on the viewer's own devices to figure out what is truly happening.

Wonder Egg Priority and Angel's Egg are two anime about a female main character who has a mysterious egg. Both anime look beautiful and are definitely worth checking out just from the presentation alone, but throughout watching either of them, you may find yourself constantly thinking "what on earth is happening".

The two entries share stories about sensitive content in the life of high-school girls, with the similar animation style being flashy and abstract at times. It made me actually think that Ruru's animation was some kind of promotional music video for Wonder Egg. Music taste may be individual, but the content is very similar, so if you liked one, give the other a try! I am sure you will also get the same feeling.
