It's similar to its genre and the characters.
The female protagonists on both are short in size pairing a boy who's far taller than her. But eventhough with that, they end up liking each other. It's just that in Hiyokoi it's not showed in the anime.

These animes are about romance between two high schoolers, one difference is that in Toradora there are more girls who like one boy, and in Hiyokoi there's only one. Also the girl maincharacters are both compared to animals and their personalities are like that too. They both have some funny scenes that defenitely'll make you laugh, and they're funny in their own way but there's also enough romance and cuteness for a good anime.A big difference is the fact that Hiyokoi has -If you don't count the specials- only one episode, while Toradora has a bigger storyline so has a lot more episodes.

Clannad: After Story addpermalink

If you watched Clannad you have to watch Toradora.  They are very similar story-wise and the characters are sort of similar too.  I would say Toradora had more entertainment while maintaining the I-love-her-and-she-loves-me-yet-other-girls-like-him-too sort of atmosphere.  Yeah it'll most likely help you get out of the sadden state if you watched Clannad.

Both feature similar entertaining romcom styles, though Toradora leans more towards comedy while Clannad (especially AS) has more drama. While Clannad has stronger thematic development and is more poignant overall, if you liked one you will probably like the other.

I can't stress how much I loved both these series. Evoking a diversity of emotions (among them, laughs, hearty smiles, tears, and "aww moments" from cuteness), these unforgettable romantic comedies are the archetypes of their genre. If you enjoyed one, you will most definitely enjoy the other (although I was initially hesitant to try Clannad since it is more "drama heavy", Toradora had its tear jerker moments as well).

Toradora and After Story greatly share the theme of "growing up" in a sense. Clannad After Story goes with the more realistic approach though which highly suits it. Toradora has a more dramatic feel due to certain conflicts presented in the story line. Overall, Toradora's dramatic phazes can be enjoyed if you liked the drama in After Story; the idea works likewise.

Romance, Problems with one's self, Slice of lifey. All the normal stuff that creates a good show with a welcoming atmosphere. I enjoyed both of these shows almost equally as much and recommend anyone that has watched Clannad and Clannad: After Story to go and watch Toradora! 

The decision to watch both of these shows is far from regrettable and will leave you with hours of happiness and days of life changing thoughts and feelings.

If you liked Clannad's amazing character depth and relationship development, than Toradora is a great choice for you. While it can get a bit cheesy at times, Toradora is one of the best romantic character dramas I've ever seen, with characters that serve as the perfect example of 'show don't tell'. Highly recommended to anyone who likes brilliantly complex characters and also enjoys a good old' feels trip.

Two shows that own the distinction of doing the tsundere character correctly, which is less common than most people think. 

Orange-haired Tsundere female protagonist who drags the blue-haired levelheaded male protagonist into her hijinks. Very similar tone and surprisingly good pacing, with a small but strong supporting cast.

Both have unique styles, both have intriguing Main and Supporting characters, both have brilliant female tsundere leads as well as very original male leads, both are very funny and yet very emotionally touching.

Both are heart-warming series, with loads of comedy and funny moments that can crack you up, if you also noticed, The guys in both series fall in love with two girls, Yuuno is kind of similar to Minori and Mio is almost taiga twin, since they have the same hairstyle and looks and have are both tsundere. The only difference is that MM! Is kinda perverted more. xD

In both animes the main characters are a tsundere girl and a guy, they try to help each other, and help  with their relationships. However, in both animes they start to like each other. When you see this anime the first thing that comes to your mind is Toradora. If you liked toradora I bet you will like MM!

With a similar comedic yet melancholic feel to every episode and the effect of seeing noticeably alike character designs, you can't go too far into either series without noticing that the other shares analogous characteristics. ToraDora! is for those who prefer realistic and well-paced drama while AnoHana holds true for the opposite.

Romance, word & fist fights (animelike ^.^'), stong female lead with weak sides, especially in romantic moments, but nevertheless are both strong, no wussy girls.

Both of these anime are in a school setting and have 2 students who are known as the strongest in the school. Both anime become love stories filled with fun times together and harsh times toward the end, but both end up like most anime always do... a happy ending that ull have to watch to find out!!! (BTW: Toradora!, Kaichou wa maid-sama!, Special A, and Ouran High School Host Club are all similar anime if u were looking for others as well.)

Both series' are romantic splice of life with comedy in the story.

Both series' main male protagonists are respected by anyone, but the other one is the other way around(fear by anyone). While the main female protagonist of both stories doesn't like to give up once their mind set to do something.

Both series' storyline revolves around at school where every plot and twist happens there.

The relationship between the two main characters has this heavy antagonistic sense to it, in additional to proof that they both care a lot about each other. There's a whole "will they or won't they" vibe through it all with lots of humor but also some serious character moments. The only big difference is that one of them has a crush from the beginning.

Both aired in Fall of 08 and have similar style comedy.  While Kannagi has more ecchi and parody-centric comedy, Toradora is more slice-of-life/romantic comedy.  Both animes are made great because of the characters.

First of all, I found the characters designs extremely similar. Then the main characters resemble each other. Taiga as Nagi are strong female characters but can become weak and Emo if something intense happens. Jin - Ryuuji on the other hand are caring and helpful male leads that have characteristics, which usually belong to female characters.
Furthermore if we ignore the exact scenario, the core characterization of both stories are romantic slice of life comedies.

Both have groups of five friends with the same gender makeup, leading to almost parallel dynamics. We get a love pentagram of sorts in each show, so both remain undoubtedly interesting. Kokoro throws in a bit of tasteful supernatural to augment the otherwise standard slice-of-life rom-com experience of Toradora.

GSNK is a very popular anime right now and we all know why; because it's just too funny and has the most adorable characters ever! So if you love dorky characters and their shenanigans then Toradora! is just the right next anime for you. Toradora! has a lot more drama and romance but it will make you cry happy tears by the end of it.

Toradora and Monthly Girls' only real similarity is the dynamic combination of a dude who doesn't seem like a lot, but actually has a ton of interesting features about himself compared to a girl who is a lot more simpler than their partner in the anime.

What ends up being something of a huge gap when comparing does at least have the rom-com features which make them so very highly loved. What is said to be a good parody of romance and an actual masterful romance work is what the two sides of the coin have to offer in serious work and a comedic one.

Would recommend both if you look for something that understands what it is, and something that embraces what it is.

Likeable tsundere female leads are the strong points of these animes. Haruhi and Taiga shine so brightly they will make you overlook the parts of the story which might be less interesting, repetitive or even annoying. No less could be said about the supporting female characters that are parts of a ''group of friends''. You will go through many different types of adventures with characters in both titles.

A responsible male protagonist finds himself meeting a crazy girl who starts dragging them around into all sorts of situations. While the way the plots of these two animes develop is quite different, the characters share similar personalities, the settings ae similar, and both anime certainly transmit a sense of melancholy into the viewer.

The main romance plot is very similar between them. They may not share the same main plot (Music and Slice of Life/School) but secondary characteristics may apply. The alternance between comedy and drama is really similar, while the romance feels really heartwarming. There are a lot of similar events at the end of both, talking about them would be spoiling, but who liked one will probably like the other.

the quirkiness of the characters in both series struck me. Toradora centers around school life and follows a set story line, has some gripping drama near the end and has a clear conclusion. Working!! on the other hand doesn't have a plot, or a conclusion and revolves around the workers at a family restaurant. It is much more random and focuses on comedy (althought i thought Toradora was just as humors). Toradora's Ryuuji inherited his serial killer father's scary looks, Working's Satou also has a scary look but both are nice guys under their scary exterior. Ryuuji's mother's and  Working's Kozue (Takanashi's older sister) were really similar characters. Ryuuiji and Takanshi are both the responsible members of their households and naturally take on the responsibility of cleaning and cooking.  Ryuuji's getting beat up by Tiga was sort of similar to Takanshi betting beaten up by Inami. Both these male characters do not appreciate getting beaten up but still take it well and end up supporting the female character instead of running away. Both Toradora's Tiga and Working Popura are short doll looking characters. Tiga's personality, however is alot closer to  Kyouko demanding of food, cold face, and gangster violence attitude. Last, think Toradora's Ami's personality fits well as an older more mature sister to Working's Yamada in looks and manipulation of other characters. Finally, in both anime's the character's Ruuiji and Inami have to escape the negative impact their currently absent fathers had on their lives. Both anime's talk about on the importances of past events on present situations. read more

Both series are romance/comedy series, with Toradora! falling more towards the romantic side while Working!! focuses more on the slice-of-life comedy. The main characters are extremely similar, having to do housework for an otherwise dysfunctional family made most obvious by their drunk vixen of a mother/older sister. Both involve a diverse cast of both male and female members, with some of those characters corresponding to those in the other series somewhat well (Taiga/Minori are shuffled versions of Poplar/Mahiru, Kitamura has elements of both Souma and Satou, Yamada is like a mini-Ami, etc.). 

Ultimately though, both are simply good examples of the rom-com genre done right. read more

Both feature (very) slow building relationships that don't properly ship until the very end of the run of the show.  Working!! is definitely the sillier of the two, but in a good way.  Toradora! has the deeper feels.

In my opinion, Toradora's artwork is better, but both animes present a group of colorful characters. The central plots concern love affairs between them, more specifically between the predestined couple of main characters and all the other members of the group. Cute and funny, with a touch of drama in both case.

Toradora! shares extremely similar themes to Ouran Host Club, as they are both comedic romances. The main difference between Toardora! and Ouran Host Club is that Toradora! delves deeper into each character's personality and gives the viewer a deeper insight into their personality than Ouran.

Overall though, I would highly recommend watching Ouran Host Club if you enjoy laughing a whole lots and getting engrossed into a short series.

Both being from the romcom side of things and both having alot of moments of comedy in it as well too and both having opposites attract kind of theme to its romance as well too and both have moments of wholesome feel goodness to it too.

Although the romantic concept isn't entirely directed in Ouran Koukou Host Club, I found that the connections between significant issues and resolve were relatively similar. The basis of both these animes show a vast contrast of dismal common occurrence issues yet work in appealing back to its audience through romantic mean to either distract or resolve the persisting previous issues of each character. Overall, they're both consistent animes regarding their underlying interpretations with whims of dramatic romance

Ririchiyo and Taiga (the main female characters) are petite tsundere from wealthy families, with deeper reasons to behave the way they do, instead of just your typical tsundere traits for moe purposes. Bonus! Both wear thigh-highs.

Miketsukami and Ryuuji are both gentle male characters, with talents at "domestic" chores, and enjoy taking care of the main female characters.

If you haven't watched Toradora for what ever reason and are looking for a romance similarly satisfying, Toradora is a good one to check out. If you watched Toradora and have been searching for an anime that is like it for quite some time, I really suggest Tsuki ga Kirei.

At first, both girls have a reputation in their school for being strange - but a guy comes along and sheds some light on their once-dreary lives. Protagonist wants to start a new school life, due to certain prejudices he has had of his appearance. It is  meet with a girl who is known for having an aggressive personality and has a proper nickname that lives up to its name (and is tsundere). He discovers that behind her, there is a girl like anybody, who hides just like he, the one of prejudices. At the beginning is a toxic relationship, will they learn to leave their differences aside ?.
The big difference is that Toradora is the protagonists help each other to get the attention of the other's best friend. And Masamune-kun, it is the revenge of the prota against the girl who rejected it.

The relationship between the two main characters is similar. Both Holo and Taiga are unique tsundere-like characters that have a goal they want to accomplish(Holo returning to the North, Taiga getting Kitamura to like her) and relies on the male character(Lawerence in Spice and Wolf, Ryujii in Toradora) to get them there.

In the beginning,their relationship begins on a rocky start, but as they face different challenges together and get to know each other, they start to depend on each other more and develop a close bond.

Watching Nagi no Asukara brings back feelings from watching Toradora. They are similar in a way that characters in both animes are caught between valuing friendship and their romantic loves, and choosing between the two. I liked the diversity of the personalities of the lead characters in both series. Both have good plot progressions.

Azumanga Daioh is similar in energy to Toradora!, and everytime I watch Ryuji's teacher homeroom teacher Yuri, I cannot help but be reminded of Chiyo and her friends' homeroom teacher Yukari; uncanny resemblance. Azumanga Daioh is a little more absurdist than Toradora! and has no specific plot, and is a little more low-key at times, but if you enjoyed Toradora! I definitely recommend Azumanga Daioh.

Well, Denpa Onna is more fantastic, but both are still heart-warming stories about teenagers and they lives, fears and loves. What's more, I found Ryuuko very similar to Minorin.

Almost the same situation were it involves 2 people who have a crush on someone else but ends up being together. However, one has a side of comedy and the girl is quite a handful for the guy, while the other is more of a drama and the girl is very submissive to the guy's advances.

At first I thought it really wasn't, but in the end, I found myself loving Toradora more than Little Busters honestly. 
The characters give you that "group of friends feel" like Little Busters did for me, and the drama keeps you on edge.

Both are romantic comedies with similar setups (guy crushes unrequitedly on girl, guy gets help from another girl, guy also helps one of these girls with her own unrequited crush, guy eventually grows to care for the girl helping him, etc) that will tug on your heartstrings. For those who are not fans of the ecchi shows, don't let the ecchi genre tag for Video Girl Ai scare you off. The ecchi moments in this six-episode OVA are far and few between, and of a more mild variety than the more blatant stuff you see nowadays. VGA came out in 1992, after all.

We have pretty cool main character surrounded by group of friends who are all similar in both series - lead female being tsundere and certainly having feelings for main character, other, pretty cute and kinda loud deredere who eventually starts to develop feelings for him too. Then we have another girl with our male, and so little harem is ready. Not to mention another male character, sweet and helpful one, loved by everybody and some other friends too. Both are romance and have slice of life themes. Both in their own way touch 'fantasy' world, though in Toradora it's just matter of title, and in Hataraku there is whole universe created. 
After finishing Hataraku, I had feeling that I saw something similar before and then connected it to Toradora. I had much fun watching those animes. read more

Both series are handled by J.C. Staff and taking place in a school life environment. The main male protagonist in both series also seem to be normal although he is ostracized by most of the other students for their "strangeness". 

The main female protagonist in both series are also petite and forms a awkward relationship with the main male protagonist.

There is a lot of humor, drama, and romance present in both series.

Both of these series gives of a similar kind of vibe, funny and relaxing but yet dramatic and serious at the same time. While watching 5-toubun i couldn't stop thinking of Toradora. Both Fuutarou and Ryuuji are very similar male leads in terms of looks and personalities.

Both Toradora and Hayate no Gotoku (HnG) are similar because both of them are slice of life, romance, and also include school life. In my opinion, HnG is better than Toradora because it has more comedy and action. HnG is full of parodies, and sort of like a harem, and there's a lot of comedy. I recommend HnG for any age but it's not as romantic as Toradora (kisses on the cheek couple times, which is basically it).

Toradora was absolutely the sweetest anime's I've ever seen. This anime was the first I saw of its kind. I was more into the action/thriller genre but I am totally converted to the romantic/comedy/slice of life genre. This anime surely made my top 5 list and I love it so much for how sweet and cute it is. I definitely recommend it to those who are looking for an anime of the genre I stated previously.

Junpei and Ryuuji have a smiler characteristic, they both look delinquent, and they both find it hard to confess their love to the girl they like, in the way they find a way to be closer to the girl, in toradora it was taiga, while in Nyan Koi it was the cats, there seem to be more similarities between other characters too.

Toradora! and Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora look similar to me, first of all because of the art style. Then, because one of the main characters falls in love with the other one without him/her noticing it. After this, the one who falls in love acts giving him/her all to have the other person. Toradora! is way better (to my eyes) because it's also kinda comedy-ish and has humour through it, but Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora it's more like a drama through it all but, in the end, all that matters is the love the main characters feel for each other.

Extremely similar main female characters, as Taiga and Yamada had the same personality, minus Yamada's sex-centered thoughts. Both had very good comedy, with BGHK winning, but Toradora had more depth in its supporting characters. Regardless, if you liked one, you will like the other.

Hm, let's see in a few words they're: upbeat and fun.  But I shall go on to say that both shows tend to share a similar attitude in which characters handle situations: often somewhat brash or straightforward *cough* teenagers *cough*.  Both shows can seem a little uneven sometimes in terms of enjoyment, but there are worthy moments to be had in each episode, regardless.  Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai, of course, is about girls, girls, girls, and as for Toradora...well, the girls (Taiga, Minori, and Ami) pretty much take the show.  Both shows have super shiny, slick quality in art and animation.  Ahem, and last but not least "moe-fied" mothers who don't look like mothers strike again!  read more

Toradora is a romantic comedy, so is not similar to Evangelion in plot, but both of them are not foccused in the plot. Toradora masters the character development as Evangelion, being his younger brother, just because is more lighthearted and less depressive.

Toradora is in a way a MUCH better version of Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka.

They both evolve around the main protagonist who has been listed as a delinquent (Ryuji in Toradora and Junichi in Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka) that meets a girl who is a hard headed mix of many different types of characters.

Yuuhi Katagiri also reminds me a lot of Taiga, but toned down a bit.

I loved these series because both of them are strong and mature character driven romances.  What makes both of these series even better is the cast of supporting characters.  If it wasn't for the supporting characters these shows wouldn't have nearly the amount of charm and splendor that they provided themselves with.  

The romances are both a slow burn with a strong pay off.  I love both series due to the mature and realistic way that they portray love.  I can not give either show enough praise. Just know that neither series will leave you with warmer feelings for hope and the desire for true love.   read more

Toradora and FB are somewhat only superficially similar, dude meets girls, life entanglement and stuff blooms from thereon. However, the two are usually acclaimed in their handling of the themes they use.

Toradora is a love story going into what people truly wish for, FB being a supernatural tale about the consequences of peternormal abilities. Both using their premise to go deep into such with vivid character development and awesome perspective of understanding the reality.

Both are pretty good drama anime, with one being a well-known rom-com, the other being a highly acclaimed shoujo story so good it needed a remake.
