Synopsis

Reito Mizuhara is a medical student at the National Advanced Medical School in Tokyo who contracts a rare, lethal disease called cellular sclerosis. In order to be treated, he is put into cryogenic sleep for five years. Upon awakening, he learns that a year into his slumber, a worldwide pandemic broke out, caused by the novel Male Killer (MK) virus which exclusively afflicts males and has killed all other men on Earth.

Fortunately, Reito and four other men were spared during their cryosleep and are now immune to the virus. As the only men left in the world, they are thus tasked with mating with as many women as possible to repopulate the planet. However, Reito is committed to his childhood friend and sole love interest, Elisa Tachibana—only to learn that she went missing three years ago. While the other male survivors adapt accordingly to this new world, Reito instead chooses to pursue Elisa, fight never-ending temptation, and investigate this mysterious virus.

I'm expecting a surge of reviews with ratings 4 and lower to be the dominant force in this review section, and whilst there is a lot about World's End Harem to dislike, to the point in which I can very well do the same, I come here showing what's good about the show. I mean, I watch anime to enjoy it, if I don't like it I kinda just turn it off, y'know? Despite being something to not take entirely seriously, I'm not very cynical with anime like these. My standards aren't too high as well.

The good thing to talk about here is ... the idea. Well, maybe not crawling into the sociopolitical side of things but the very concept is interesting enough. In a world where operation man bad is a success, we are met with a few individuals who seemingly forgot to turn off noclip virus consequently resulting in them going into a world where, well, there's not a lot of men strolling around. It does seem like self-insert bait, only proven by that one guy who basically sells that idea without fail, but we will get into more of that later. Though it should be noted that it isn't all as fantastical as it makes itself seem to be. There is a serious problem with men disappearing here, there's no way humanity can last without men (at least not with this anime's current technology, but that goes off on a tangent because you should see the technology there lol). The anime, although slightly forgetting a few thousand times about its own premise, does make actually put this theme into good use. Y'know, the characters do indeed attempt to revert the setting back to a more ideal surrounding rather than embracing wish-fulfilment. The pacing makes this ever so slow but it does get more and more interesting as episodes pass. With all the other pieces in the shadow, be it side character motivations or missing plot points, you are left wondering what more could happen in this weird world. I didn't think it'd be that decent, but hey, here we are, the writers know how to not forget about a premise.

Aside from the whole fixing the virus thing, another cool part of this story is that one self-insert dude. He reminds me of Keyaruga from Redo Of Healer because his process is the exact same thing only it starts from about episode 3 (I don't remember) to the end of this show. For the sake of your memory, he will be called Megane, because honestly, it was hard remembering his name despite having episodes all to himself. Megane had a very interesting development, for the most part, going into the depth I would have never thought an anime like this would have done. From honesty and love to a more sinister dude, reflecting on all of his actions along the way, I kinda liked how he changed as a character in this world. The same is true for that other guy, No.2 he's called. Although he didn't get the spotlight like Megane, his reflection on the current situation was impressive in a time when people cared about him. Like this dude swoops low at one point, you will know what I mean when you get there. But yeah, the change is pretty crazy and would make sense in a world where it is encouraged to orgasm more times than you've been told by someone that they were doin' your mom. It also just occurred to me that you could actually be doing someone's mom if hypothetically you were situated in this scenario. That's kinda wild.

Anyway, the main main guy. Reito. He's that pure-hearted "I don't really touch boobs" kinda guy who I can actually have some respect for in his quest to save the world. When I say pure-hearted, it is extreme here, dude abstains from the entire world for some one girl who herself is committing some various acts of extremism. It's kinda wild but I will tell you now that at least he isn't all that uninteresting and has motivations to do something about the situation at hand, which is cool I guess.

Anyway, that's all I have to say about the anime, it gets a little philosophical with existentialism rubbish, there are too many unintentionally funny moments to count, and well, if that doesn't float your boat, at least it is ecchi if you want nothing more than that.

I forgot to mention, that Suou Mira is best girl, a real sweetheart. If she isn't your best girl we have some talking to do.

Anyways, 8/10, although that's a little too nice of me in hindsight. Oh well.

First, there was Ishuzoku Reviewers a.k.a Interspecies Reviewers, which marked the new 2020s decade of nuttiness, uncensored harem and ecchi glorified for all Men of Culture.
Then, there was Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi a.k.a Redo of Healer, which marked 2021 with an outrageous revenge story, harem and ecchi uncensored if you wish to see all the pain and burn from an objectively wrecked MC.

In terms of being a fan service anime, honestly I think this was a massive disappointment. Heck, Sono Bisque Doll (My Dress-up Darling) from the same season is substantially better as a fan service anime, albeit having no seggs.

I really don't understand what this anime was trying to achieve. It was trying too hard in the worldbuilding department while showing non-stop seggs every single episode. As a result, it failed to deliver neither successful plot nor satisfying lenny faces.

I'm gonna be honest here - it did somehow manage to make me a bit intrigued at first - which didn't last long. ...
