The Vampire Dies in no Time is an anime that has been going under the radar in the community, maybe because it doesn’t feature underage girls or maybe because it looks like made in MS Paint, but that is a shame, because the anime is hilarious, and I will highly recommend it if you like a unique in the medium comedy.

And that is because the execution of the comedy in this anime is a tier above the norm, making any other comedy anime in this season look like a cheap novice experiment made by my nephew after watching the latest challenge of Tik Tok. ... The way it times the sketches, the way it builds the jokes on top of another, how it plays with the absurdity of the concepts of the anomalous vampire world, how it twist the already formed expectations, it is just amusing to watch. Of course, some jokes could fall flat, the anime sprays a punch every single minute of its runtime, but to dwell into the jokes that didn’t work is just a sad excuse to not enjoy the anime. Why would you stay in what didn’t work instead of looking forward for those gags that are working? Comedy is about moving forward with diversity, and this anime does it in a Cadillac

While the execution is glorious, the content is the perfect condiment. The exploration of the world of vampires and hunters, the parody elements, the way it architects the characters around subverting the expectations, the narcissist and insecure nature of Ronald, the playful nature and the unknown extension of the cowardice of Draluc, the abuse of John, which is also a joke by itself because of the contrast of sanity that it presents, the way it builds itself and introduces in each sketch a new idea, creative but not entirely out of the realm of what is familiar to us, diverse and surprising but not completely out of the world that have been already presented, the content serves perfectly to the already greatly done execution of the comedy elements. Because that it is, the beauty of this anime is the simplicity and the unexpected, the sincerity about what is trying to create, everything is presented as it is and the characters act as they are, developing a sense of familiarity during its runtime and generating a sense of excitement towards the next appearance of the already presented characters.

And that is mostly it, the anime expresses a flood of energy, overflowing the episode with jokes and twists, with running jokes that are piling up because of how ridiculous the characters are and an absurd escalation of the most simple and mundane problem because of how idiotic the decisions are, spiraling into madness in matters of minutes and ending with a punchline that almost always delivers perfectly. This anime is just a goldmine for segments, ideas that blast through the screen with a balanced touch grounding that doesn’t introduce it into the cringe or try hard territory, dialogues between dumbasses that doesn’t go into the brain cell extermination territory.

The Vampire Dies In No Time has a pretty lousy introduction. The jokes don't land and the two main characters just aren't very likable, nor is the show any interesting. However, first impressions aren't everything, and after letting it simmer for a few more episodes (or maybe it's the Stockholm Syndrome kicking in), I ended up having a blast every week with this show.

The show follows your standard boke-tsukkomi routine with Ronaldo and Draluc taking on each role depending on the situation. The comedy itself can get fairly juvenile or basic but I'd be lying if I didn't at least smile most of the time. ... Somehow the old trick to LOUDLY YELL OUT THE JOKE works wonders for a show like this. Comedic timing is generally fine, though the show often relies too heavily on overly explaining the joke at times.

Part of the draw for me was to see how crazy each episode escalates from the last. Shin-Yokohama apparently is filled with weirdos and perverts. And they just keep one-upping each other week after week after week. I gotta give the show credit for keeping things fresh by progressively getting more absurd as the show went on. Also as seiyuu fan, listening to assorted seiyuu veterans lend their voices to guest characters is a joy. I don't know how or why they got Wakamoto to voice a goldfish, but I sure am glad they did.

Kyuuketsuki Sugu Shinu is a show that grows on you over time. Perhaps the first few episodes knowing who each character is and how they relate to the world helped in making me appreciate the show as it went along. Regardless, it's no surprise to see the show getting a sequel (which is exceedingly rare for a comedy show to do), and I'll gladly tune in whenever it comes along.

One of the most famous manga from Shounen Champion finally receives the anime adaptation.

KyuuShinu is an absurd comedy about a vampire hunter and a vampire that always dies. Their dynamics works well even when they are so different from each other, but they share the stupidity (one brain cell) As the plot follows Ronald and their huntings with Draluc and John (the vampire's armadillo) is a kind of slice of life, but extremely weird. The comedy in this series isn't for everyone and it has some cliches, but I find it funny enough. The art style is amazing, more polish than the manga, the bright ... colours, the aesthetics (see episode 10) and with that I can tell you how beautiful is the opening. Everything is so vivid and funny, I love the fact that Draluc is the one singing the song (Jun Fukuyuma) is the essence of the story. The anime have nice effects in the sound and makes the experience more funny. The ending is cute. John's backstory singing by other two seiyuus who are also characters from the show. The characters are unique on their own: not just their design, but their behaviors, traumas, and goals. Humans and vampires are so diverse and equals at the same time. There are cliches, but what manga/anime doesn't have them? Even the characters themselves know! As I wrote before, comedy is not suitable for everyone for many reasons, but if you can get through the second episode, you are sure enjoy it. The only "but" I have other than the "sexual" jokes or "sexual" content that "it might have" (because it's in a funny way) as a manga reader, is that they changed the order of chapters from the manga. There are so many good ones, but I totally understand why.

Alright so I'm usually of the opinion that people should wait until a show is finished to rate and give a review, but since the rating is somewhat low for not much reason, I'll put my two cents in for anyone who may be looking for some input on if they should try this show. In short: if you are normally the kind of person who enjoys comedy anime and are looking at this because you think you might enjoy it, you probably will. My friends and I had been looking forward to this show before the season ... aired and none of us were disappointed. I think one of the things that made this anime stand out to me the most were the character designs and the art, it's all so visually appealing especially Draluc's design. Not to mention the incredible addition of an armadillo named John. The opening and endings are both incredibly fun as well as being really good songs. In general, go into this not expecting any deeper plot but just wanting a good time. Kill some time every Monday with a new episode of this show for some laughs and to jam out to the op/end.

The John Show with Other Characters.

The second of the only two excellent vampire shows this fall season is The Vampire Dies in No Time. An absurdist comedy sitcom about a social media conscious, fame hungry Vampire Hunter called Ronald and his shut in, dweeb, Vampire roommate Draluc who turns into sand in almost any stressful situation or to physical violence… or the sun… or garlic, he dies a lot you see.

Depending on your tastes your experience may differ, but I laughed a lot watching this show. It’s jokes are well written with sharp humour, the animation is smooth and excellently done being a Madhouse ... production and the characters are all really funny.

Vampires are seen more as oversized pests rather than terrifying creatures of the night and the show has a lot of fun making all the vampires and their powers as stupid as humanly possible. Like, you have one vampire who's power is to make people say lewd things and then he runs away, another forces people to wear micro-bikini’s, it’s very varied. The vampires all come in different shapes and sizes from your normal humanoid with pointed hair and teeth to fish to vegetables to a weird, pervert creature which looks to be a cross between an elephant and a worm.
Ronald and the group of guild of vampire hunters are also a range between weird, fetish cosplay perverts to chunibyo costumed edge-lords and they’re as funny as they are freaks. The anti-vampire unit’s Hinaichi, straight-laced and serious as she is is just as hilariously moronic as the rest of the cast and Tou the dhampir just really hates the fact that his mom is in love with Ronald.
Then there is John. The best character in anything ever. A statement that is literally, factually correct as well as in the realm of the show as the entire city is willing to shut down everything and come together and find him if he gets lost or gets kidnapped or is just a bit upset.

There’s not a lot I can say to sell you on watching The Vampire Dies in No Time than just watch it if you like comedies. It’s really funny and it's clear that everyone who was involved in the making of this show from the animators to the voice actors had a blast so you'll have one too.

If there's ONLY ONE way that I can recommend this show to all of you, please watch it just for John, the adorable South American pet armadillo that's instantaneously loved by all. It should get its own spin-off story, for real.

Comedy series can be hit or miss. Those that really dig you hard to the point of LMAOing, like Grand Blue or Asobi Asobase, or the latter that tries too hard to appeal to everyone, like this season's Shinka no Mi a.k.a The Fruit of Evolution. Where mangaka Itaru Bonnoki's work on Kyuuketsuki Sugu Shinu a.k.a The Vampire Dies in No Time lies at, IMO ... it is neither here nor there, as much as we're all happy to have an esteemed studio like Madhouse be back in the seasonal run. Such a mixed bag.

Humans and vampires don't really exactly have a good reputation between each other, one that's even more so when the human is a vampire hunter and the vampire is your typical Dracula-style being. But that is exactly the case between Ronaldo and Draluc, whom the former has received a hunter job that's supposed to save a kid whom has wandered into the latter's castle, only to realize that he isn't so high and mighty like the stereotypical vampire that he is. And just with something trivial as a clapping of hands, Draluc very easily turns into ash while Ronaldo gets hung up around this kid who's smarter than the both of them to infiltrate his castle just to have fun. The ramifications of all these unhinged actions, is that Draluc's home gets destroyed in the process, and has to co-live with Ronaldo in his vampire hunter office because he has nowhere else to go. The incentive that result from all these events, is the introduction of Draluc's pet armadillo named John, and that the trio makes up one hell of an unusual team as they are forced to work together to fend off the "evildoers" ranging from Ronaldo's fellow vampire hunters (that could smell out Draluc) to even his condescending editor responsible for his valiant stories of heroic deeds against lesser vampires in the city of Shin-Yokohama.

Right off the bat, you know that this show is a comedy first and foremost, and doesn't try to sugarcoat its wacky premise in basis of the time and progression. That in and of itself should give you the idea that in the world that the detective Ronaldo, vampire Draluc and armadillo John lives in, there's a wack ton of things happening concurrently, but the job is there to maintain stride and "glory" that Ronaldo is banking on: his War Chronicle series that his editor Fukuma is always trying to scourge out of the vampire hunter, because that's also both his and Ronaldo's interpersonal business relationship as well. Oh, and Ronaldo is part of the Hunters' Guild, where other vampire hunters of all forms exude their weirdness, so take that as you will. As for Draluc, he is nothing but trouble to the vampire hunter, much more to the police division where there's a specialized team of policemen under the Vampire Control division that handles both vampire hunters and the cases of lesser vampires running amok within the city, no matter their heinous and nefarious plans to oblivion. This is led mostly by Hinaichi (most people call her Hina) who seems overwhelmed with trying to spot what is Draluc's role in Ronaldo's life, only for her (like Ronaldo) to see that he's no threat at all, just yet another lesser vampire that turns into ash from the touch.

The cast of characters, when you get to know them the very first time, they're kinda of the near perfect symbol of brain-dead people, doing things that either pleasure or displeasure others to the point of them being a laughing stock. And that is certainly felt from the start. It's only the journey thereafter that really tests your funny bones to depict what's hot and what's not. However, you can't deny that the salvation of this series is always fixated on Draluc's pet armadillo John. In contrast to the entire cast, John is the most cutest and adorable mammal that's just simply likeable, amazing and always mesmerizing to watch. I always look forward to scenes of situations that showcase John being empathic and playing along with the gags of everyone, he's the best laughingstock character out of them all that makes the cut for comedy always and without fail. All hail the next anime deity that is John the Armadillo, and praise be to John and the cult of Nu.

It's great seeing Madhouse be finally back doing seasonal shows after some time off and coming back with last season's Sonny Boy. The truth of the fact is that we've just missed Madhouse too much that from the passing year that's just filled with the extent and rampage of the pandemic, and now the studio is back with this show and the MAPPA collab with Takt Op. Destiny. Concerning this show though, Madhouse did a pretty decent job all things considered, and the studio's signature flamboyancy mark is once again prevalent as well, most particularly with the OP visuals which is a throwback to one of the studio's most popular and the highly-praised best original series of all time: Death Parade. It's just simply a joy to see Madhouse's name as their comeback of a Renaissance period, although both shows aren't the best examples with Sonny Boy already making waves even from back then.

Just like with Death Parade, Jun Fukuyama's OP "DIES IN NO TIME" is insanely good. It is such a bop-to-the-lit classic segue of a title song with both MCs Ronaldo and Draluc fleeting and dancing around what looks like an enlarged roulette wheel, which for hardcore fans of Madhouse, you'll instanteously know the reference to Death Parade at least for the visuals. Sadly though, the duet of Daisuke Ono and Takayuki Kondou as TRD performing the ED "Strangers" just doesn't really follow up well, and comes off as just kinda mediocre to listen to. The only thing that I want to listen to more of is Mutsumi Tamura's incredible VA performance as John with all the "Nu"s in variable tones, considering that she has just started her role as Hermes Costello in JoJo Part 6: Stone Ocean. Nu nu nuuuuu!!!

Like I've said in the beginning: comedy is hit or miss. Depending on your depth of what's considered to tickle your funny bones, this show can either do that or just desperately try its best to keep you invested, knowing that the same gag, trope or joke is repeated over and over again. I know I did at the beginning, because I didn't know what to expect and got a good laugh out of it, only to feel tired of the fact that the growing repetition of jokes didn't really click with me. Maybe yours will still do, but this show really tests your patience if you really want to just turn off your brain and truly enjoy for what it is. This show exists in two camps: either you love it or hate it, that's all.

But still, watch this ONLY for the wholesomeness of John, and in our Lord and saviour, the cryptid god character may the anime community receive thoust salvation. All of this in John the Armadillo's name we pray, say it with me: Nunen.

Hit or miss are always a thing when it comes to shows like these. Some of the comedic tones and elements will either hit you for endless laughs. Or even a joke or two, will get you, but your experience is pretty tame to most. Or in some cases, it completely misses it's mark, and just leaves you rolling your eyes at the screen, and wondering how on earth can someone find it funny.

Which is where we find ourselves when it comes to this show.

It's a case of you'll either love the comedy, or you'll not be fond of it. Pure and simple. But ... honestly, even with that, I do feel that this show has a bit of charm to it, that just keeps my eyes glued to it, week in, week out. Even if the same ol joke is used a few times, it doesn't annoy me in the slightest. Which can only be a plus for this show. It reminds me a bit of iruma-kun. Where it's loud and in your face sort of comedy, just adds so much more, then acting as if it's trying to be funny. Which can only make for a great watch week in and week out.

We follow Ronald, a freelance vampire hunter, going upon a usual case to take a vampire that apparently kidnapped a kid, only to find out it's not what it seems, and then it just dives into complete chaos from then on. With a vampire in Draluc, whom I bet you could flick, and he would turn into dust. Now after accidentally ruining his home, Draluc ends up living wit Ronald, which just causes even more mess. It's the odd couple duo, that just makes for no dull moments, and just fits so well together.

Speaking of which, they're not the only interesting cast members that push the show along, there are a bunch of colourful characters, that really drive the show ome, Each with their own misunderstandings, and personalities that all connect well with the overall product. Stuff like that is hard to pull off in a comedy anime, and it's done good here.

As stated, this does remind me of Iruma-kun, as you'll notice with it's artstyle, in that it feels as if it's more brighter, and colourful. Even in more darker looking parts. An interesting art choice and direction, and one of it's strong suits for sure. As much goes for the sound within this anime too. As I said, it's loud and over the top silliness, that all sounds mighty fine.

Honestly, the show might need a bit of warming up to at first, but once you're hooked, you're more than likely going to enjoy this. It's comedic tone will be hit or miss, depending your tastes. But as an anime in itself. It's perfectly fine and dandy.

Tbh the only reason I'm still watching this is for John. (I watched 4 episodes so far tho)
Let's be honest, this whole show is only tolerable because of John.
I don't wanna spoiler too much, but John is a armadillo.
John is always the one contributing the best scenes of the show.
This is not meant to be funny or something, it's the reality of this show.

The other characters aren't very likable, but sometimes (mostly thanks to John's contribution) they are. Mostly Draluc.
It's a funny show and John is very likable, but that's basically the only reason to watch this.

It’s honestly difficult to stop a goofy smile from appearing on my face every episode. I love this anime <3

The characters are so so charming, and I applaud whoever designed them. It’s near impossible to dislike any of them. The art really helps each of them stand out, and I love the nice bright colour palette this show has. It fits perfectly with the vibe :D

As for plot? Only the smallest strings tying each episode together. But in a show like this, that’s pretty much exactly what I’m looking for. No need to keep up with drama or huge mysteries. It’s so easy just to ... switch your brain off and laugh and relax and just not 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 about all the sh*t that’s happening in the world.

And on top of all that, the OP is awesome. I can’t bring myself to skip it even once. I recommend this 100% to anyone who wants to giggle at stupid things and mindless antics.

Coming from Madhouse studios, I didn't have any expectations for this anime when this came out but eventually, I started watching all the episodes and it's really funny.

You know it's fun when one of the enemies move into a friendly relationship and start working together. We've seen different vampire animes that show serious vampire stories, battles, powerful scenes but this is different from the rest and simple, not too strong or weak. It shows those scary vampire stories are actually the opposite and hilarious. There are not too many characters so you don't have to forget their names.

Apart from the anime, the VA's ... are acting good to their funny characters. I personally found the Ronaldo VA as my favourite. If you're bored and want to take a break from the common vampire story animes then this is your best shot as you can have a good time and laugh.

Very light-toned, sketch-based comedy sitcom. No complex storylines, no drama, nothing to give a thought about.
However, the show doesn't feel lacking in any department. The characters might be simple and straightforward. yet each has a distinct identity and traits. with well-defined relationship dynamics between them. Each of those is stupidly funny and hilarious. Each episode is a mix-and-match of those characters to deliver laughs and gags, which feel genuinely funny and natural. Unsophisticated and dumb, but also hilarious and very enjoyable, The short length of the sketches is perfect to deliver the laughs without feeling drawn-out.
The animation and music score are also a ... perfect fit and make a package complete.

Overall: a light, hilarious, and very enjoyable comedy. The closest comparison I think of is the Saiki series. So if you're a fan of that style. definitely worth checking this one out.

This show is genuinely one of the funniest comedies that has come out in several years, and I mean it.

My experience with this show basically went: The synopsis peaked my interest, the OP song sold me on it, and the gags in every segment (there are 3 per episode) made me love it.

From fighting a naked vampire with vines coming out of his crotch, to tormenting a genuinely evil vampire by unknowingly messing with his soul trapped in a voodoo doll (which was found by complete accident mind you) to fighting VAMPIRE VEGETABLES, the three main characters in this show manage to stay entertaining, hilarious ... and at times even adorable all throughout. This show has never failed to make me laugh at least once during each episode (6 out at the time of this review).

Story: 9
The story is pretty straight-forward. A competent, yet prone to screwing up Vampire Hunter is forced to take in a Vampire Lord as his roommate/assistant after destroying his castle while fame-hunting. The catch is that Draluc, the vampire, is extremely weak, yet immortal, so he dies at the sight of pretty much anything, even a door being slammed shut too loudly. Ronaldo the Hunter then introduces Draluc to the many quirky and likeable characters around him, including the Hunter's Guild and the Vampire Control Association, all of which are just as likeable and funny as the two leads. Oh, and also Draluc's familiar is an adorable armadillo that will have you admiring his cuteness just as much as he will make you laugh.
The three short stories per-episode structure is perfect for this show. Even if one skit doesn't quite hit the mark, which is fair, the next one might have you pausing the episode because you were simply dying laughing too hard.

Nothing particularly amazing in this regard, but the art is perfectly serviceable for a show that focuses more on making you laugh than looking stunning.

Aside from that, the performance by the two leads is high-energy, fast-paced, and absolutely hilarious. Even the more subdued side-characters that get laughs out of playing the straightperson surrounded by weirdos still give a great show.

Every single character is likeable.
The fame-seeking Ronaldo is so enamored by his own greatness, and every time he is forced to put up with Draluc's or his fellow Hunter's antics and is humiliated beyond description is always a joy.
You'd think that the gag of Draluc dying every 10 seconds would get old after a while, but his relationship with Ronaldo and his genuine reactions at how batshit insane the human world is compared to his previous life of hedonistic gaming is always a treat.
Side characters include Vampire Control officials Hinaichi and Handa, a girl that was convinced Draluc was faking being weak until she found out he wasn't and is now stuck with the pair of idiots seemingly forever, and Ronaldo's childhood rival who hates his guts because... his own (vampire) mother is the Hunter's biggest fan.
Other smaller characters include the Hunters Guild, whose Master and his daughter are an absolute treat to behold, Ronaldo's scary editor Fukuma-san who stuffs him inside an Iron Maiden every time he misses a deadline on his famous book series about, what else, himself, Draluc's own Vampire Lord family who are just as funny as he is, and the occasional case-of-the-week including a Vampire who has absolutely no control over his shapeshifting and gets proggressively more bizarre every time he thinks of anything "impure" and a regular vampire being chased by a human stalker who absolutely DEMANDS him to turn her into a vampire out of love at first sight.
Finally, I believe in John supremacy.

Honestly the highlight of the week every time a new episode is released for me. Watching a dozen of shows every week, most of them comedies, this one manages to top all of them in excitement. I can't possibly overstate how funny this series is, and how much of a shame it is that it was seemingly swept under the rug and barely noticed by the community at large.

If you dig fast-paced, high-energy comedies, this show is an absolute must. If you dig buddy comedies where both sides are idiots in their own right and play off each other flawlessly, this show is a must. Hell, even if you just enjoy Vampires at all and are tired of the usual serious flair that plays them up for scares, why not give Vampires played for laughs a shot?
I don't know what else to say, give this show a try right now, you won't regret it.

I highly recommend this series for viewers who are bored of dumb teenagers, hate cheesy drama or edgy action, like to see some good trolling as well as wacky characters and don't mind some lewd jokes.

I must admit it is difficult to pass on first few goofy episodes but you will get your hilarious reward soon later with new character introductions.

Episodes with three parts are easy to digest and intriguing with vast colorful and silly characters. Nobody is trying to bond with others, everyone is a diq, no corny friendship drama in the middle of a faqin comedy, pure repulsive behaviour.

It could ... have been stronger on the vampire mystery side but this works too. There is season two that I also recommend.

Somehow, there's no story from episode 7 above, it's just adult jokes. And it's too overused, I think this anime is good only until episode 6.
But the opening song is good tho, that dancing make me some good vibes.

Is it worth it to watch ? Maybe. If you want to search some comedy anime, you can watch this, but the funniest thing only you get is just 6 episodes. How about the episode 7 above ? Welp, just pretend that it was ... OVA or some extra episode on Anime.

So, reading a lot of the reviews on here, I can see you guys missed the mark on this one. This anime is only slightly underrated in my opinion.

Some of you are taking this anime way WAY too serious. Everything about this anime is comedy based. From the characters and their social interactions to the problems they have to resolve. So, if you are curious about this anime, do yourself a favor. Shut of your brain. There is nothing to overthink about here. Just shut of and go on the ride.

This anime isnt trying to be a masterpiece. This isnt trying to win any ... anime awards. It is slapstick humor for those that just want something light and humorous as a change of pace from the rest of the regurgitated storylines that saturate anime every season, namely dystopian future and isekai.

To conclude, if you are rating this anime 6 or less, then you missed the whole point of the anime in my opinion. I rate this at a solid 7 and possibly an 8. It doesnt measure up to some of the other slapstick anime like Konosuba, but it doesnt have to. There arent many that do. Its just silly nonsense to rot your brain to.

This anime is basically about comedy, and the only weakness that any universally loved comedy genre can have is being hit or miss.

kyuketski sugu shinu can make you either laugh out loud or cringe and question your usage of time, maybe we are missing most of the jokes due to the culture difference because no matter how much of a weebo one might be we are still not Japanese.

The story, uh .... well,It all comes down to taste, if you have watcheed many vampire shows and are familiar with the genre maybe you will have an easier time understanding this show, the armadillo character is ... more cute than funny , the "joke" that is the vampire dying all the time will get old pretty fast so I am concerned that this show may go downhill if it keeps sticking to the formula.

on the bright side

the art and animation of this anime is pretty unique and definitely one o the reason I decided to watch it , the Art is cartoony enough to set up the looney toons kinda vibe while still having the anime aesthetic which, I feel was a great decision.

VA job is poorly done ad part of the reason why the jkes can be hit or miss , the passion is clearly not here and we all know A joke being read as a script is not nearly as funny as a well-set-up joke which the performer himself should find funny. Music is not strong either with Op and ed both being a skip for me .

characters are not the strongest either, draluc might and john might be the only saving grace of this whole show otherwise most characters only stick to tropes and don't show much promise.


overall this show is very hard to recommend, since Monday of this season is pretty dry if you do have free time , sure give it a try. otherwise it's best to let more episodes come out and see if it can redeem itself.

"Bleh, Bleh Bleh" -A lot of different vampires.

The Vampire Dies In No Time is an anime that might go under the radar for many. With all the heavy hitters this Fall 2021, along with all the Heavy Hitters throughout 2021, an anime like this will go unnoticed. However, one would be mistaken to pass up this show. While it may not be "The Best" anime out there, the show is definitely a fun time if you give it a chance. I hope everyone who reads this can find it helpful.

I rate shows on seven aspects, five of which hold the most importance. Animation/Editing/Settings, Plot/Execution, Characters/Dialogue, ... Music/Sound Design, and Messages/Cultural Themes/Impact. Each of these are rated out of 20. 5 extra points are added for the anime's OP and ED each.

Animation/Editing (17/20): The animation and editing from Madhouse is stunning, and while nothing compared to other shows they have made, this anime doesn't have to be. Of course, being a comedy anime, good editing and animation helps jokes land easier, which this anime does well. Whether it be good editing cuts or subtle but stylish backgrounds, this anime's world has its charms if you take the chance to look around. Also, considering all of these episodes take place at night, the dark sky contrasts well against the vibrantly colored characters and bright lights of the city. It's only until you see some small shots to daytime do you realize how much you miss the comfortable feeling of the night.

Plot/Execution (17/20): Being a comedy, The Vampire Dies In No Time doesn't really have any set plots or end goals, instead just rolling along, adding new characters to the growing world and the funny antics they get up to. Now, comedy, just like art, is subjective to everyone, and while some may find a joke hilarious, another may find it annoying. Yet, I can say that there will always be one joke someone can get a laugh from each episode, or at least chuckle at. While the show is called "The Vampire Dies In No Time," the anime knows that focusing on this all the time would make the joke stale as the episodes continued. So, the series takes a chance at introducing multiple characters that help flesh out these interactions and create more unexpected circumstances which would eventually lead to The Vampire Dying In No Time. Again, being a comedy anime, there isn't much of an episodic nature to speak of, but an audience will always be revisited by old faces that will help spice up each episode while becoming comfortable around the new characters.

Characters/Dialogue (17/20): The heart and soul of every anime, characters are what make a show identifiable from a crowd and what draws an audience back to the series even after finishing it. Now, while many of the main and supporting cast are probably not going to win any "Best Original Character Design," they do their job by having interesting designs and quirky personalities that fit the narrative of the plot. There is no character development to speak of, perhaps the tolerance level of Ronaldo and Draluc to each other, but their personalities and actions are what keeps the show entertaining and falling out of people's minds. Of course, I would be brainless not to mention the fan favorite character and Best Boy of the show, John the Armadillo. While most mascot characters are just made to be cute and nothing else, John surpasses these tropes by being not only cute but also helpful and inspiring for the other characters as well, along with helping some antics be resolved. His personality is definition of being a "Good Boy" as well, being helpful and against fighting among friends, but also tough when times are needed, all while not having any "spoken" lines in the anime. Again, while most mascot characters are usually made just to do cute things, some even having useless or pestering personalities, John flattens these assumptions completely underneath his Spin Dash attack. He is, by far, the Best Animal Companion of 2021 (Make this an honorary title).

Music/Sound Design (17/20): Like much of this anime, there isn't much to speak of in terms of music and sound design, at least not counting the OP and ED, but one would be deaf not to hear the complexity of how the anime uses sound. It fulfills its purposes without standing out in important scenes, but at the same time, it would be missed if the audio was completely taken out. Not to mention the phenomenal voice acting by the cast, who really sell the overtop reactions. It's that aspect that really doesn't work well outside of different Dubs, but what does help is that the voice acting from cast members outside of Japan can shake up a joke or a character's voice that fits better for those more accustomed to the language. For example, Draluc's voice actor is appealing as it is, but his English Dub gives him a stereotypical vampire voice. If you don't understand, it's that Hungarian accent that many vampires in the media tend to use, like "I VANT to suck your blood," and say a lot of other words but start them with a "V." Overall, great acting and audio use.

Messages/Cultural Themes/Impact (17/20): This part may seem weird to many, but I think it's important to consider while watching an anime. What exactly is this anime trying to say or show? Where does it pull inspiration from? Who is working on the anime and what kind of impact can it have on others? This may not seem important, but it does have a major impact on the enjoyability of a show. Would Dragon Ball be as enjoyable if Akira Toriyama turned out be a serial killer? Would Naruto and One Piece be as fun to watch if they only spouted political ideas? Real world themes have a big factor in anime and stories as well. Now, this anime isn't trying to give the audience any ham-fisted ideals or anything to touchy, instead it's doing what a comedy show should do: entertain its audience. The inspiration for many of these characters and antics are interesting too, taking common vampire powers and twisting them into unique and funny powers for its characters. These aspects also help towards the worldbuilding too and, while it does take the backseat to the overall comedic mishaps, it would be mistaken to forget some of these aspects of the anime's world. Again, it's nothing special, and it's not trying to be. What it's trying to be is a fun time. Does it succeed? That's ultimately up to you.

OP (5/5) ED (4/5): The most important thing before an anime starts is its OP, which hypes the audience up to watch it, along with its ED, which says goodbye to the audience every episode to reflect on what they just saw and keeping them interested to watch more. In an OP and ED, its important for the music to reflect the anime's overall themes while having animation that syncs with the music. However, it is also common that most anime also show the cast of characters that take place in the anime. So, its important to hint at who these characters are and what happens in the anime going forward without revealing too much before the actual episode starts. And, even if you don't plan on watching the show, AT THE VERY LEAST, I beg of you to watch/listen to the OP's song, Dies In No Time by Jun Fukuyama is a banger on its own, but gets even better thanks to the animation in the OP. It does everything an OP should: great animation, hype quality, character roll call, subtle hints at the episode/future episodes, hints to the characters themselves, and being a banger on top of it all. But I would digress if I didn't mention Strangers by TRD, which focus on Best Animal Companion John the Armadillo and his backstory with his master Draluc. The neon colors and John's adorableness blend well in making a great ED.

Overall, tallying up, The Vampire Dies In No Time ranks 94/100 for me. It's a fun anime that I hope more people will check out after watching all the great anime that was in 2021. It's a light hearted comedy that will get a few laughs out of you and cheer you up when you're feeling out of it. It's nothing revolutionary, and it's not trying to be. It's just trying to have some fun.

Yes, this is a preliminary review, but this show isn't really big on the story so I feel like seeing more than half of it will give you a good idea of what to expect from the show. Vampire Dies in no Time has a lot of things going for it. Great voice acting and music, great atmosphere and art style, very unique character designs that don't look like they were just taken from another show, and at it's best it's incredibly funny. So, why does this show tend to get mediocre reviews? Well, the reason I can't really rate it higher than an average ... is because like a lot of other skit-based comedy shows, it's very hit and miss.

The general structure of this show goes like this: someone has a problem, Draluc and Ronaldo need to fix it, Draluc dies a ton because he's as fragile as glass, and then eventually the issue is solved in a comedic way. There are times that the show will stray from this formula, and that's when it's at it's best.

There are moments that feel like the show is desperate for your attention. A good example of this would be when Ronaldo is scared of confronting his publisher. They have this ongoing joke about Ronaldo being scared his penis will be chopped off, which would have been funny for how ridiculous is on it's own, but then it has to tack on this cliche and unfunny potshot at trans women, which takes away from what would have otherwise been funny. The voice acting also contributes to this. While the actors all do a great job with the characters that are assigned, the copious amounts of screaming in some episodes can come off as more obnoxious than funny. Episode 8 featured a noise-based joke where two characters start flipping out when they see a vampire, and this joke worked because there wasn't a ton of screaming beforehand, it broke the calm atmosphere previously established in this scene. Sometimes, less is more, and a lot of the show's best jokes seem to come through when the writers remember this!

So, what did I find funny about this show? Well I love when they get completely absurd with the subject matter. Like having a vampire who can control flowers, and his power comes from a literal bush in front of his crotch. A pantry of vegetables can somehow become vampires and start attacking. The show is great at thinking up absurd ideas and rolling with them, but what's even better is when it breaks cliches and goes in a direction you'd never expect. Episode 6 was really good at messing with audience expectations in particular, and it became my favourite episode of the series thus far because of it.

As everyone's sense of humour is different, I highly recommend checking out an episode or two to see if it's for you. But for me, I felt like this show was a very mixed bag that was not good enough to enthusiastically recommend to all my friends, but good enough for me to continue to tune in every week until it's done, and even hope for a season 2 to see this show in a more refined state. At the very least, it's a unique experience, and when it's good it can get some out loud laughs from me.

The first three episodes I just found amusing, I didn't really laugh, but the fourth episode with the dhampir was actually funny. I'd say the show is definitely worth trying and it seems to be getting better as it goes on and sets up more characters and situations to work with.

Most of the show is a very specific kind of Japanese humor with fast back and forth and a lot of shouting. It also has some really weird shit. The premise is the vampire hunter gets sent after Draluc, finds out he's innocent, and then his mansion ends up getting destroyed so Draluc comes to ... live with him. In this world there's a ton of different types of vampires, so as it goes on we get introduced to more hunters, people from the agencies, the dude's publicist. It introduces a lot more characters which helps to create more comedic situations and interesting back and forth. I also like the little baby armadillo.

The adventures of John the Armando... and two idiots!

This is a parody gag show in it's purest form. Every second of screen time has that in mind be it through the animation, the script or the voice acting. It's 12 episodes of none stop gags.

Even the characters themselves are parodies. Our two mains are a Helsing & Dracula parodies, John himself is a parody of the now iconic mascot "cute" child character. So much so he ends up with his own cult!

The show is light, fast paced and very energetic. The artwork is clean and the animation smooth, the OP theme really stands ... out in this one. The characters are fun and nobody is to be taken seriously.

Because of that however the show fails in one aspect, it doesn't leave a mark. You watch it, you laugh, you move on. Due to the lack of any serious moments you form no attachment to any of the characters. For me the humor was more hit but there were a few times where things got... uncomfortable. They don't take it too far but I wish they didn't go there.

I do question some of the references as they seem pretty dated. One example is when a "tribal?" woman is chasing after a guy, marriage certificate forum in hand, her words to him are "Me Bella, you Edward!". Seriously? A twilight reference in 2022? There are other references to a not that well known anime from the 60s regarding Draluc's hair. They are however one-off gags and don't mean much if you miss them.
