Hortensia Saga

An advertising anime for a random mobile game with an uninspiring generic fantasy plot, a floating mascot that says "moru" at the end of every sentence and a maid that talks like a 5 years old.

Plot is frustratingly weak, for example, how the MC is unable to connect the dots and realize the real identity/gender of someone he has known for years, but once you remember that the source material is a simple phone game, you stop caring about it.

Character design is so generic that they even have a red hair dude that is literally Roy from Fire Emblem (and his name is also Roy ... in the anime lol), not to mention the MC that is basically Marth, and many other elements that feels like you've seen them many times before elsewhere.

Animation production quality itself is decent and the soundtrack is good, but that's not of much help when there's no good story to back it up. Overall, I cannot recommend this show.

What does an anime need to be interesting? Well, for some, it is enough to have a universe, characters and a story well combined to work. Animes that are adaptations of games are already expected the minimum of all this, because, because it is something that comes from an interactive material, it is necessary to keep the target audience, right? Hortensia Saga, no matter how hard he tried, managed to be the biggest failure of game adaptations in recent times.

I don't say Hortensia Saga's instruction is bad. In fact, it was surprisingly good to start. Marius is a runaway princess who, after an attack by ... an enemy kingdom, has moved away from the evils of what it would be to inherit her nation's throne. She meets Alfred moments after the massacre, the son of one of the warriors, who lost his father the same day. This premise is normal and even uncomfortable, especially when compared to isekais and other recent medieval fantasies. It is almost always a compilation of events that only exist to exist and occupy space in a pile of anime with each new anime season. However, the beginning Hortensia stood out for one factor, the initial development of the story. As much as it may seem, dealing with a revolution against the kingdom itself and exposing the ailments of the Church is something that many animes cannot do well. Most of these shows, present the religious figure as a more demonic than sacred obstacle, where the few differences between animes of this type are evident. Hortensia stood out for taking care to make an interesting and cool show to watch from the beginning.

"But ... Well, we're talking about Hortensia, an anime that, just by the cover, you can imagine that its continuity will ruin everything that was proposed, right?" ~ Yes, this time, this is correct.

The interest in anime is much more for the initial proposal, because the rest is totally poor. Anime like this is more common than it looks. "The 8th Son", "Im Standing on a Million Lives" and similar ones present nothing more than the beginning made especially to please the most silly viewers, who are content with an empty, poor and boring content (MY GOD , THIS IS VERY BORING). It's not like the anime doesn't try, after all, Marius has a drama that develops slowly, but you can understand the intentions of the show and what it may become in the future. However, the anime does not much explore the interactions of the characters with each other and focuses excessively on missions and events that are forgettable. Each next episode felt like I was rewinding the same video, the same text, the same problem ... the same lack of quality and exclusivity.

It is even easy to foresee a show like this, as well as a recipe for some food: take a fantasy world that has references to the European feudal period, add Templar knights and a troubled church. After that, put on a visually beautiful princess, a drama potentially dubious as to its quality. Mix everything and add creatures and mythological references (demons, dragons, legendary warriors, imposing names and magic) and there you go, here is another anime. Hortensia is literally that. The shows of the type practically only change the name of the title, the songs and the studio. The rest always have the same structure and it bothers anyone who wants to admire some novelty.

I am not going to fully criticize the show. As I said, the beginning saved much of what followed. Hortensia still maintained a basic quality. It was a better experience than many shows, of course. Lack of content and repetition are what hurt and heal a wound called a cliché. In fact, Hortensia was more than I expected. Since it is a very common anime, I do not imagine that it has great qualities, in fact, but what was shown managed to convey a little emotion. The apathy of these animes is quite frightening, so watching a show manage to stand out in the middle of so many series is very rewarding.

The production of the show is also not worthy of great merits, but I assume, it was competent. The studio knew how to use its investment in some things well and made an anime that, although simple and visually generic, remained constant. This turns out to be a positive point for the show. The opening and ending songs are also virtually good, I really enjoyed listening to them.

Finally, be careful to consume this type of show (or any other that has the same configuration), they are very doubtful and your final experience will depend exclusively on who sees the anime. Hortensia is weak, in fact. Is bad? Well, everything that was presented had a lack, it did not exhibit a quality even to be a game adaptation, as I mentioned at the beginning of this review, but you can feel some productivity coming from here. Was this a conscious guilty pleasure? Possibly yes (and this is better than the eternal disappointments of some popular shows, isn't it "Mushoku"?).

I expected a lot from Hortensia Saga, when it came to it's story, and how it was looking. But after a poor start, it's slowly coming into it's own. While it's not a stand out, but I do believe it's slowly getting better. If I could rate this a 6.5, I would, but let me explain.

Story
It feels a bit disjointed at first, not allowing the watcher any chance to really acknowledge and accept what is going on, and instead going at a super fast pace, which thankfully calms down in the later half of the first episode, and doesn't really happen again any time soon, ... though some parts can feel super quick. The story follows as described, as kingdom that has been attacked, and the daughter has to be taken shelter in order to escape from one of the few loyal knights, with the plot being her being uncover training with said knights, in order to find out the truth, and maybe take back the kingdom.

Characters
There are a few such as Marius that are likeable and someone that you can get behind that can help the show go on. Characters like those that are done well enough, so that the show isn't a total waste. You can tell how deep this whole situation has effected her, and how hard she is working to get over her short comings, and among other things. Another is Alfred who is another good soul, a real good knight.

Art and sound
The art is colourful and fitting for the scenes, a simple look that you can't go wrong from really. Nothing really looks out of place, or out of touch. Much like the sound, it's well done, and nothing that'll burn your eyes, or ears for that matter. May seem like a generic style, but it works for the show, and it works in general.

I do feel like this show ill get better, not be great, but will be better then it is. So I'll keep watching, and you should too.

Hortensia Saga is an odd one. On one hand, it’s yet another generic fantasy gacha adaptation. On the other, it was actually quite enjoyable for me.

I’ll be quick and brief with this one, everyone knows I am easy to please with anime. Story doesn’t have to be top notch or revolutionary, I like good character interactions and waifus. Hortensia has neither. The plot does nothing to actually draw you in and interest you. The characters are all shallow and have no real depth to them, other than the main antagonist whose motivations are still rather generic.

Despite the complaints, I actually did find the ... show to be fun to watch. It’s one of those situations where you know something isn’t good, but yet still like it. I definitely would not recommend this show to most people.

The CG in the show is pretty damn bad at times. When the fight sequences stay 2D, they’re decent. But, often times monsters and fights went with the CG style, probably to save the staff time and effort, but it just didn’t look right at all. The still art is really good, though. Backgrounds are bright and colourful and I do like the character style.

If you’re looking for a fantasy gacha adaptation to watch, try Priconne or King’s Raid. Hortensia Saga is painfully average and will most likely be a chore to sit through. Hortensia Saga gets 6 out of 10.

Just when you think that game adaptations like these will reach the above-average latency of Granblue Fantasy, it just fell short of its ambition to remit the exact same feelings of such.

For a context, I actually used to play a decent amount of Hortensia Saga, the 2015 mobage developed by f4Samurai and Sega. As is the case for such tactical RPGs of the genre, the story really is nothing special of the realms of claiming kingdomship and defeating evil, pretty bog-standard stuff. Granted, Cygames' mobage Granblue Fantasy launched the year prior in 2014, but to the average Joe, the feeling is mutual. Fast forward to ... years later with the surprisingly decent Granblue Fantasy: The Animation in 2017, we finally got the anime version of Hortensia Saga...so how is it from a fan's perspective? EHHH...it's pretty mid.

To say that I was expecting the same low-ball feelings from such a sub-standard genre of poor-to-mediocre game adaptations is just putting it lightly, because it is. The medieval fantasy story of a princess who has to go into hiding because her royal family has been rebelled against, opposed and threated by religion that superifically opposes such truancy, begets the undermining as a whole. As per usual, it's the "knight in shining armour" assigningly-decorated to protect her and seek justice across the lands from being a religious puppet of sorts. Pretty mid-tier stuff.

If you've watched enough game adaptations like these, you need not look far to connect the dots that somehow the male protagonist doesn't seem to have a brain for even the simplest of knick-knacks. I'm pretty sure he's just a dog on the leashes of people whom can understand situations and issues far better than him, and only strikes when there's saving needed to be done, and the protective knight Alfred Ober is one such example. Protecting the rightful princess Marius "Marielle" Casterede in what looks to be a cross-dressing attempt to deride detractors into thinking that religious "believers" have every right to exterminate her at first sight, that's a journey worth the heck of setting everything right. Along with the other characters that do make their appearance from the game (Nonnoria, Kuu, Maurice, Deflotte and many others), and you'll have all the ingredients for subpar environments that aren't as engaging as compared to similar contemporaries like it.

Of the 4 Liden Films produced shows this season, this show could've used some work to beat out the crunch, and that's where f4Samurai's production cooperation helps out in bringing the game to light on the anime side. The one thing that will set people off is once again, the CGI which does not look pretty at all merging on both the 2D foreground and 3D background, which Felix Film is helping out in the 3DCG space (similar to Urasekai Picnic in the same season). In fact I'll say that this production is the best of what we got from Liden Films (as depicted by the company logo in the OP), and to sum it all, the end curse to an already stacked Winter season.

If there's one thing to praise about this show, it'd be on the music side, and that's always the kicker pointer when other aspects of the show aren't doing so good. It greatly captures the medieval fantasy setting that's helmed by music composer Zenta Tsuchihashi (or more approriately, ZENTA), along with the OST to back it up from reputable artists like MY FIRST STORY and Mafumafu for OP and ED respectively. And God bless me, the music absolutely delivers the experience similar to when playing the mobage. That was as such the only good moment to grace and tease fans for Easter Egg moments.

All in all, it's easily forgettable, and even coming from an once-hardcore fan, this is just disappointing to say the least, a non-surprise indeed. With the story as bare-bones and such, even if the other facts going for the show are just as good or as bad, nothing can redeem the fact that it's just a boring show with nothing going for it, other than the progressive plot. The crude average just goes for this one, and you'd be wise to skip it. Not as horrible as I'd once thought at the start, but it just wears on your nerves right to the very end.

Story-5

The castle was attacked by werewolf, when Alfred's father arrive at the scene, it was too late that the king has already died. He was ordered to rescue the princess and he ended up sacrificing his own life for that. Then the princess was brought by Alfred's uncle to live alongside Alfred while disguising with her new name, Marius. This anime is about war and chaos set in a fantasy medieval world. First 2 episode was ok for me but as it go along, it's get rougher and rougher to get through, i came to like it more at episode 9 which involves more romance ... which u think really fits the story.

Art-6, Music-6

Normal fantasy styled animation, the actions wasn't that great but it does have a great way to make some scene look epic. The opening is pretty normal as i could remember, i don't remember the other OSTs.

Character-7

This anime's strong point is the character and historical genre, it is the only reason i still keep up with this anime. Our Female main character is Marius, she looks like Historia Reiss from Shingeki No Kyojin from her appearance and also personality. Our Male lead character is called Alfred, i like him being for his matureness throughout the story. Other characters are simply normal medieval looking character set in the historical world.

Enjoyment/overall-6

I wouldn't reccomend this anime, it's too slow and each episode keeps going up and down. There's too much dialogue in this anime but if I'd say it's good or bad, I'll say its ok since it's a game adaptation and you know nothing goes well with them. Alfred, this character is the most unique character in this anime, i could feel his character development throughout the story but still, this anime is still lacking them.

This anime is nothing interesting but somehow I like it and watch it until it runs out.


I like the graphics and animation during sword fighting and for this story it seems normal (I'm not saying the story is bad lol), I like the opening song as well as the ending,
For Cgi I don't really care, the voice actors are good too, one thing I don't like is the ending because I think it's hanging and I also know this anime won't get the second season, I want to play the game but it can't be on my laptop because the specifications are low and I ... hope there will be a second season.

I am not characterized by many words, I usually try to summarize so as not to harass and that they have a clear image of what they can find in this anime.
Mainly as a story being an advertising anime I did not expect anything, and I was surprised to see that beginning that could be promising, point in favor; but they suddenly lowered the rhythm and turned it into a somewhat slow story, they tried to give something a lot of mystery and in the end I think they ended up boring a part of those who saw this anime, negative point; As characters, they ... are not a big deal, there are those who may like them or not or they may simply be indifferent, they tried to give some development to their personalities, especially the main ones, for which it is not something to highlight, but neither to despise.
Secondly, I have to admit that the soundtrack was very much to my liking, the opening gives you that vivid feeling that you are going to see a great adventure full of joys and misfortunes, and the background music is not a big deal but it transmits what it should. transmit so I can take it as a success.
Finally, in terms of animation, I can say that you will not have any problem with it unless you are very, very demanding.

the story it self is quite good and the plot twists were pretty entertaining, i would say the weakest point of the anime is its characters , the characters were so weak and very 2 dimensional and unfortunately couldn't carry the story which caused the entire show to fall apart. the story was good but a bit rushed and the ending was a bit of a shock but nice. it had so much potential to be a fantasy gem but couldn't make it the VAs r some of the big names in the industry which was nice. but overall it absolutely doesn't deserve ... that very low score it has

Hortensia Saga is a kind of melodrama about a kingdom and its allied dominion. The story is about a princess trying to take back the kingdom while fighting supernatural beings.

The plot had some potential but the story and the events were written far too horribly and the characters never got a single chance of development. It was some sort of melodrama, unnecessary sad scenes, too much friendship power, and a lot of unexplained things. The antagonist and side characters never had any depth, to begin with, and the protagonist never got any development. It was just one bad fight and he learned everything about the ... situation. The character of the maid gets pretty annoying at one point with the screeching voice and over-excitement. The animation was alright although the use of cgi was terrible and the background fights were so bad to the point of laughable. The art was also far too downgraded compared to other anime of the same time. The anime could have been an average series if they focused more on character development, story events that had a real impact rather than just being a melodrama and giving better story and direction to side characters and antagonists.

The story just barely scratches the plot in my opinion if they had taken their time and made a 24 episode series and shown better parts like showing more about dominion warfare and involvement and giving better history to support the story. All and all the anime as it is right now it's just horrible and I will not recommend it to anyone.

The truth from minute 1 seemed like it was going to be bad, but I'm wrong, it's terrible. I spent my time watching this which cannot be called anime because it is a real rubbish. If you're thinking of seeing this do yourself a favor and don't watch it, it's going to give you cancer. Don't see it.
It has nothing good, the animation is lousy, the character design is generic, it has nothing that makes it unique. The soundtrack is bad, the plot moves very slowly, each episode becomes eternal, you don't wait for the moment for it to end so you can kill yourself ... for watching audiovisual cancer. You can tell it's a very bad story with little desire they made this anime, if you want to torture someone put this anime on it.

No tiene nada bueno, la aniamcion es pesima, el diseño de personjes es generico no tiene nada que lo vuelva unico. La banda sonora es mala, trama avanza muy lento, cada episodio se hace eterno no esparas el momento para que termine para poder suididarte por estar viendo cancer audiovisual. Se nota es una historia muy mala con pocas ganas hicieron este anime, si queres torturar a alguin ponele este anime.

So Hortensia Saga, well is a good anime to say the least. I speak this, keeping in mind that I have no clue of the original game to begin with.

First of all to give an overview, the plot of the anime was interesting to begin with, the sound usage was great if you count the OP and ED in the same category, definitely made my playlist, the characters and the character traits were a bit cliché' but the development as the story moved on was good. The art on the still frames, and the art for the environment was really good, but the ... fights and action scenes can be a little weird at times. As for enjoyment, the last 3 episodes gave a lot of excitement, and thus the story was able to present itself in a convincing way.

Now for why does it a get a 6? this is going to be a mixed with some spoilers, so let's begin.

In my case, the anime gets a base score on the basis of the level of animation, sound usage, art, character designs etc. And that is why, this anime also started with a 7(Good), as all of the above things were competent with the relative quality of anime that is out there in this season or the previous season. That sums up the explanation of 3/5 categories in my score. Sound is the only category that I gave an 8 as I also count the OP and ED as mentioned above.

That leaves us with the story and enjoyment. These are the two categories which obviously in my case, propels an anime to higher score.

Now for Hortensia, the story started off with a good hook, kept introducing interesting elements, with good revelations at proper timings. It took advantage of the kingdom setup of the world as that enabled it to explore many locations in the 12 ep run the anime received. During this explorations we gained new "Supporters", and also had some character development for the original characters. And thus , after basically spending 1/2 of the time in explorations, near the middle, the story progresses towards its conclusion, and to tell you the truth, the story was tight enough to keep you hooked till the finale. So after getting this much praise, why a 6 for the story, well, again Concluding a story is something SOOO IMPORTANT, that it almost easily overrules any of the good things the anime had done. And oh my lord the ending, how should I say this, The ending could have been great, as in the finale episode, a lot of character arcs closed (almost 90%), the conflict is resolved, some major deaths happen which is all great. If the anime had concluded on that, An Overall 8 for sure, but just because this is a GAME anime, and the purpose is to ADVERTISE the GAME, the story pulled out a ridiculous ending just to give a really forced cliffhanger, just to convey and more importantly make us realize that this is just for advertisement, if you want the real story, go and play the game. Now seriously, I do not like this.

In my opinion, if the turn at the end is removed, Hortensia is not at all a bad anime instead it is a promising anime, and if the story had been a little more tight, it surely is deserving of 6.7-6.8 score, that is between Fine and Good.

Also finally, will I recommend it, well if someone is fan of the military, kingdom, fantasy, magic genre, then I will suggest them to give this a try, but with a disclaimer that end the anime with the final title card.

Hortenisa saga gets a 6 .(sadly).

This anime had a lot of potential to be a solid 6 or 7 out of 10. The story was alright as long as you don’t think about it too hard and the animation and soundtrack are pretty great. It’s honestly a passable watch until the last two episodes. The ending left me completely unsatisfied and honestly shocked at how terrible it was. Most of the conflicts were unresolved and the big sacrifice at the end was completely undone in what might be the worst case of Deus Ex Machina I’ve ever witnessed.

To summarize, it’s a 4.5 hour mobile game ad that’s just as ... disappointing as the 30 second ones.

although this anime itself is not too outstanding in any ways, the overall storyline and character developments have gotten my attention and interested me into this anime itself, I agree with hortensia being a mediocre anime, there's really not much about this anime that can lead to it one of the great animes, but despite all the negative sides to this anime I found it very entertaining to watch

i thought this anime was quite average considering the timing of its release and the overall storyline for this anime, this anime came out basically the same time slime S2, re-zero s2p2, and other big hits ... came out, this covered up the anime's potential quite a lot, therefore I believe it won't have exactly too many sales and end up like animes like sukasuka or blackbullet.

if your just wanting to watch a anime that might be entertaining for a few episodes, I think hortensia would do very well, but other than that I don't think hortensia will blow up in popularity or become a popular anime anytime soon

As someone who has no understanding of its adaptation, Hortensia Saga was an incredible anime from its start. The animation reminded me of Mushoku Tensei, and its character had an incredible backstory. Everything seems well woven together, however, what made it felt incredibly difficult to explain was that why it felt bad/incomplete. Firstly, I think that Hortensia Saga could have been a much better anime if the story wasn't as straightforward and tried to squeeze as much content as possible in 12 episodes. The pacing of the anime felt rushed and it feels much faster-paced than most of the anime coming out this season. Secondly, ... I think that the ending should have been done in a way that leaves a viewer with a pleasant ending, however, the story ends in a way that it leaves a bad taste with no way to repair the damage done. Despite killing off characters, and trying to be edgy the anime goes out of its way so that they can kill the main characters in the anime. Honestly, if it wasn't for such a weird pacing and terrible ending I would have given a much higher score since I love such anime genre. However, this is truly one anime that deserves its low score.

Hortensia Saga began as a program at least promising on my part in its first 2 chapters, which although they were "manual" for this type of story, but which merited it and were with great execution, together with a good soundtrack in the OP e ED, added to a nice animation.
Until there was all the good of the Anime, because in terms of the characters and history, mainly in the latter I just buried the program. Already by chapter 3 it was denoted something of a more vertiginous history rhythm but it was appreciated, in 4 it was more of the same but even more ... forced and already in 5/6 they finished derailing completely, first with a history context wanting to play the depth of the drama because of the betrayals and others but they really did not have a significant weight because as a spectator they never really transmitted something important to us about the story and for the second, although the cast of characters has good designs, their depth is the size of a 1x1 paper that does not provide anything more than a robotic dialogue and lacking any kind of expression that allows us to empathize with the title.
Not to mention that in chapter 6 with this false princess for another anime, totally taken out of context and great lack of ideas on the part of the creators of this work.

Hortensia Saga comenzó siendo un programa cuanto menos prometedor de mi parte en sus primeros 2 capitulos, que si bien fueron de "manual" para este tipo historia, pero que lo meritaban y fueron con gran ejecución, en conjunto con buena banda sonora en el OP e ED, sumado a una agradable animación.
Hasta alli fue todo lo bueno del Anime, por que en cuanto a los personajes e historia, principalmente en esta ultima acabo de sepultar el programa. Ya por el capitulo 3 se denoto algo de un ritmo historia mas vertiginoso pero se dejaba apreciar, en el 4 fue mas de lo mismo pero aun mas forzado y ya en el 5/6 terminaron de descarrilarse del todo, primero con una contexto de historia queriendo jugar a la profundidad del drama por las traiciones y demas pero que realmente no tenian un peso significativo por que realmente como espectador nunca nos transmitieron algo importante de la Historia y por segundo si bien el elenco de personajes tiene bueno diseños su profundidad es del tamañao de un papel 1x1 que no aportan nada mas que unos dialogos roboticos y carentes de cualquier tipo expresion que nos permita empatizar con el titulo.
Ni hablar que en el capitulo 6 con esta falsa princesa para de otro anime, totalmente sacado de contexto y gran falta de ideas por parte de los creadores de esta obra.

This is another generic fantasy gacha adaptation which is a little better than one would think from this type of show.


The beggining to no surprise is as the synopsis mentioned from there it turns to episodic allies recruitment episodes or so you would think,those episodes are connected to the main plot which is a little deeper than you would expect from this show with a decent small twists on it.All episodes had decent pacing to it expect the last which went a little too fast and while the ending does not leave you with many questions it does end in a way that you ask ... yourself what happens after it since it is a gacha adaptation after all.


The character designs are a little above generic but pleasing to the eye and the animation is decent and consistent.


The voice actors are very fitting for their roles,the soundtrack while unmemorable the opening and ending are pleasant to hear.

The characters are decent,the ones that are most connected to the plot of course and i mean the main characters and the one 'villain',we obviously learn more about them than the others since their backstory is connected to the main plot.

Overall a decent show that had more to it that i expected but not one i would go out of my way to watch.

BIG SPOILERS AHEAD:

For the first 11 episodes I thoroughly enjoyed watching this anime, I even held it in relative hig regard. I've always known that it wasn't a good anime, it had a lot of fundamental problems, but I still liked it. I liked the characters, I liked the story and probably above all, I liked how it felt a lot like a Fire Emblem anime. But the 12th episode kind of killed the guilty pleasure enjoyment I had from this.

Like I said before, I like this anime's characters and, to an extent, the plot. I also really like the OP and ED themes. With ... that out of the way, let's talk about what went wrong here.

Hortensia Saga is a very generic anime. Not that it necessarily means it is bad, but unfortunately it felt like it never tried to do anything unique, and when it actually tried (at the very end), it didn't go well. The story is the cliche "the kingdom has been betrayed by an ally turned enemy and the princess is the last hope it has to regain prosperity". The story goes on from there in a very predictable way, and probably the worst about it is how this anime only has 12 episodes but it feels like for the most part it didn't even try to move the plot forward. There were multiple filler episodes where the cast was there only to recruit a certain ally (only for that ally to in most cases be immediately shafted to the sidelines in the following episode) and this left the last 4/5 episodes the only ones where the plot unveils. This obviously left the narrative feeling extremely rushed. There were multiple villains that showed up out of nowhere only to get killed without them even getting any proper explanation about their goals/motivation. The last episode in particular is crazy in how fast it moves. The entire backstory of the antagonist alongisde the exposition surrounding the aforementioned betrayal events took place in 5 minutes or so.

And let's talk about that, how bad the plot and the villain are. Apparently the main antagonist decided to betray the kingdom, orchestrate the assassination of the king and multiple other people just because (apparently) the king is his father. When he was a kid his mother was in her deathbed and just casually said "hey, your father is the king, did you know that?" and then in his tiny little brain he connects eveyting and comes to the conclusion that the king must be a prick. This plot point is already very forced imo but then he proceeds to want to kill everyone. Ok, you want to kill the king because supposedly, even though there is not really any evidence or confirmation of it, he disposed of your mother, but then why would you want to kill multiple other people, not involved in any way or form with that event, just because you're feeling like it? That's something I truly hate. Coming up with a boring and dumb plot device in order to try giving the villain any motivation and then using it in order to attempt justifying all the other stuff he's doing. And I honestly chuckled at how bad the beginning events took place. The villain convinced the king to enrage one of his subordinates (because for some reason that powers up a relic) and he proceeded to taunt him and insult him for like 2 minutes, waiting for him to snap.

Aside from these bigger complaints, I also want to mention how many characters got absolutely no development/backstory even when they felt like they mattered. I understand that this is a video game adaptation and that the story actually continues from here, but I really doubt that there will be another season, with how unsuccessful this one was. This leaves many characters to be introduced, feel like they're important, only to have absolutely nothing to do with the plot.

The finale also felt super forced and unecessary. The MC dies but then he gets revived as an undead or something? That didn't really fit in with the feel of the anime up until then, but since we're probably not going to see a second season, that will be an ending that will make the anime even worse than it already was.
