Kengan Ashura Part 2

Many people will be having doubts about whether we should be watching this because of the CG animation but don't let it stop from watching it. It is a great series. The fight choreography is simply awesome. You actually feel the characters are fighting instead of some static images. The fight scenes were really intense and exciting. I had a really fun time watching it. Baki fans are gonna have a great time with it even though this series turned out to be much better than Baki. All in all, it is great fighting series to enjoy. Kengan Ashura

I liked everything about this season. The fights, the ost, the dynamic between the characters, the animation and hell, even the CG. It has good fights and some interesting characters and character designs.
The fight that i liked the most was Ohma vs Raian because both went insane when they fought each other. Kengan Ashura is similar to Baki and thats why i like it, but also it has things on its own that make it good. I cannot wait for the 3rd and maybe last season.

Well as for the story it's the 2nd season of kengan ashura so the story continued from the 1st season .... it's started from the 5th match of the 1st round of the tournament

art quality , sound & character development was really cool to me , i would say it has developed from the 1st season a bit

as the anime has focused each n every match of the tournament , where the different kind of fighter clash with one another , and their individual techniques and little bit past story makes every fight worth watching & unpredictable ... and the enjoyment was ... at it's level best .....

More kengan ashura? hell yes.

So this is the second half of kengan ashura. It still delivers the same epic fights we got in the first season. Of course its animated in cgi but it still looks amazing and the animation is pretty smooth.
The fights still contain a lot of action, testosterone and blood. Thus far my favorite fight has been Hanafusa vs Bando. Why? It was quite interesting to see what kind of fighter Hanafusa is. The man survived having his neck broken. The second one is Okubo vs Fang.
The story is still the same. Fighting the kengan tournament. But we now progress to ... the second phase of the tournament.
We got tons of more good characters. Kuroki is badass as fuck and Sao Pang reminds me of Asta. He is also quite the screamer but he is funny and tough beyond tough.

I still love this anime a lot. Well, now lets just wait for the third season. This is awesome after you get past the cgi. I have recommended this to 3 friends so far and they all have been saying this is one of the greatest anime they have ever seen.

before reading my review of Kengan Ashura S2:
I'm not a major fan in the fighting scene of anime and as such, I'm not the most conscious of fighting style criticism and the such however, I really enjoyed the second season of this anime adaptation. Although not incomplete, it brought a lot of interesting characters, plot progression and MC's development as a less capable character. This season didn't fully rely on Tokita Ohma's main power, advance which can be seen in the last 2 episodes - instead it revises the Niko techniques he learned much earlier than season 1. If your question is "is it ... worth watching" or "would you recommend watching this series as a whole?", my answer is YES of course it's worth trying! Now, I will go in depth with my review on Season 2 of Kengan Ashura!

Story:
Season 2 follows the continuation of the first season where we follow Tokita Ohma and Yamashita Kazuo in their journey to dominate the Life or Death Kengan Tournament against the most powerful corporations and fighters in Japan. Although fairly repetitive and weak plot structure, the series opts to use a variation of fighting techniques as well as a wider character palette especially noticeable in season 2; Despite there being a large number of characters it wasn't difficult to watch match after match because a match usually consisted of at least a portion of an episode and sometimes extended to 2 episodes - The wider purpose of this was to allow the viewers to invest in the wider character palette as well as their development and contribution to the narrative. More so than Tokita, the characters surrounding him allow the viewer to grasp the intense atmosphere between the extremely competitive corporations as they rise to the 'president' of the Kengan Association which is rumored to be a powerful underground entity among corporations.

TL;DR: The overall narrative appears to be basic and repetitive to the average viewer; However, if you invest in the plot and flow with the matches this series will appear much more interesting. As such, I will be rating Story a fair 8/10 - Not the best plot but certainly very addictive to watch and invest time in.

Art & Sound:
As soon as learning Netflix had been licensed another fighting series (Kengan Ashura Season 1) I was extremely hectic as to whether this series would surpass Baki, which was also licensed to Netflix earlier in 2018. I felt that they shared the similar detailed, worn art style as each other yet Kengan Ashura had opted to use CGI for many of the action scenes and even casual character movement scenes - I've pretty much adapted to any art style and 3D animation so I don't really notice the difference in quality to Baki - However if you aren't much invested in 3D anime, I'd suggest watching this to try get you into 3D anime, there is a lot of detail in characters despite being a CGI series. As such, I'll rate this series (even season 2) a well deserving 8/10 in terms of it's distinctive yet unique style.

Character:
It's a known fact that fighting series can include large character palettes but Kengan Ashura manages the characters extremely well for a 24 Episode (for now) series - It not only focuses on the characters but it also maintains most of their contribution to the narrative and develops support characters as the narrative progresses. I think this series executes character development miles better than Baki because it manages the character palette extremely well with nearly no effort. We see that opponents in matches are friends behind the scenes, we also see that despite being defeated they contribute their thoughts to future matches. Because of this, I will be rating this season in terms of character development a solid 9/10, executed great for a series picked up by Netflix.

Enjoyment:
As mentioned before, I'm not much of a fist to fist fighting anime fan because it isn't really interesting to me; However, after completing season 2; it has led me to crave series with similar character development and plot progression. As such I will be rating my enjoyment of this series an amazing 10/10. Loved every bit of season 2 and I hope the sequel will surpass this season by a long shot!

Introduction

We are facing the continuous sequel of Kengan Ashura continuing this "Kengan Tournament" from where it was adapted in its first part and I have not obtained great changes in this regard but it will be worth noting some points that had slight changes compared to its prequel.

Story: 7

Well, as I already mentioned in the intro, the plot starts from the remaining fights of the first round of the tournament that I had pending and covers as much content as possible within the stipulations, without going to the point of omitting the battles of the other fighters. that leaves a good feeling, unlike his first ... installment where he cared more about advancing the plot without giving too much narrative development to it. We are also in what seems to be the "Main Event" of the program and there is not much outside of it to highlight and the combats are relatively well achieved, so without being outstanding I consider that it was a section that meets the premise without more .

Art: 8.25 / Sound: 7

Here there is really not much to note in both characteristics, because it continues to maintain the same level as in its prequel. Although yes, maybe I would have liked them to risk it to innovate with a new OP / ED to renew the show, but even so it fulfills its mission and above all I am very satisfied with the animation of the fights and the fluidity it presents when many used to complain about the rejection generated by CGI ended up being one of the great values ​​of Anime.

This is a bit the point that continues to present problems in the program, since the characters openly say it outside of what they represent when fighting and their styles there is nothing else. Most of the cast are just doing their job of representing their company in their assigned battle and receiving a short development / flashback to let it be seen that they are not just for stuffing. However, it is not really that we felt that those participations outside the Arena were worth anything or led to a deepening of some key character for the plot, or at least for the moment that is what is seen in the series. Maybe in the future some of those who are still in the race for the title may become stronger in the plot sense for the title, but there really is not much to highlight. Not even Protagonist Ohma himself feels empathetic to the viewer, with those traits of being the strongest or being hungry like any average Shonen trope.

Simply put, Kengan Ashura complies despite the aforementioned shortcomings, it is not an adaptation in general lines intended to make a masterpiece, but if at the end of the day you are looking for something about fighting with mixed martial arts it may be interesting, especially if you have been able to surpass it. related prior to the start of the Kengan championship (which is the most tedious), since then it becomes very entertaining to see how the fights will develop and the chapters will flow quickly

Estamos ante la secuela continua de Kengan Ashura continuando esta el "Torneo Kengan" desde donde se lo alcanzo adaptar en su primera parte y no ah obtenido grandes cambios al respecto pero si valdrá la pena remarcar algunos puntos que tuvieron ligeros cambios respecto a su precuela.

Historia: 7

Pues, como ya mencione en la intro, la trama parte desde los combates restantes de la primera ronda del torneo que tenia pendientes y abarca el mayor contenido posible dentro de lo estipulado, sin llegar aun punto de omitir las batallas de los demás luchadores, lo que deja una buena sensación, a diferencia de su primer entrega donde se preocupo mas por avanzar en la trama sin dar demasiado desarrollo narrativo al mismo. Además estamos en la que parece ser el "Main Event" del programa y no hay demasiado por fuera del mismo a resaltar y los combates están relativamente bien logrados, por lo que sin ser sobresaliente considero que resulto un apartado que cumple con la premisa sin mas.

Arte: 8,25 / Sonido: 7

Aquí verdaderamente no hay mucho que remarcar en ambas características, por que sigue manteniendo el mismo nivel que en su precuela. Aunque si, tal vez me hubiese gustado que se la jugaran por innovar con un nuevo OP/ED para renovar el espectáculo, pero aun así cumple su cometido y sobre todo me quedo muy conforme con la animación de las peleas y la fluidez que presenta cuando muchos solían quejarse por el rechazo que les generaba el CGI termino siendo uno de los grandes valores del Anime.

Personajes: 4,5

Este es un poco el punto que sigue presentando problemas en el programa, ya que diciéndolo abiertamente los personajes fuera de lo que representan a la hora de luchar y sus estilos no hay nada mas. La mayoría del elenco solo cumple su función de representar su empresa en su batalla asignada y recibir un breve desarrollo / flashback para dejar en visto que no son solo para rellenar. Sin embargo en realidad tampoco es que sintiéramos que esas participaciones fuera de la Arena valieran de algo o desembocaran en una profundización de algún personaje clave para la trama, o al menos de momento es lo que deja en visto en la serie. Tal vez a futuro puede que algunos de los que sigan en carrera por el titulo se vayan volviendo mas fuertes en el sentido argumental para el titulo, pero realmente no hay demasiado que destacar. Ni siquiera el mismísimo Protagonista Ohma se siente empático para el espectador, con esos rasgos de ser el mas fuerte o pasársela teniendo hambre como cualquier tropo del Shonen promedio.

Sencillamente Kengan Ashura cumple a pesar de las falencias mencionadas, no es una adaptación en líneas generales destinada hacer una obra maestra, pero si al final del día buscas algo respecto a lucha con artes marciales mixtas puede que interese, sobre todo si has podido sobrepasar lo relacionado previo al inicio del campeonato Kengan (que es lo mas tedioso), ya que luego se vuelve muy entretenido por ver como se desarrollaran los combates y los capítulos fluirán rápidamente

There's really not much to say about Kengan Ashura 2nd Season. It's a very simple and straightforward anime. People come together and fight each other in an underground tournament for corporations with billions of yen on the line. That's pretty much it, and the formula doesn't deviate at all from that in the second season. It's the same as the first, the tournament just continues.

If you enjoyed the first season, you will enjoy the second season, because it's the exact same thing. If you're into brutal and exciting fights between eclectic characters, then this is your cup of tea. ... It's pretty much just Baki The Grappler for 2020. If you don't like violent martial arts anime, then don't watch this. But, don't not watch it because of the cheap CGI animation, because you'll be missing out. The CGI style allows for more fluid fighting animation and it makes the fights exciting to watch. I particularly enjoyed Cosmo vs. Akoya. Don't let that put you off.

Kengan Ashura is a worthy entrant into the martial arts tournament genre.

Ok now i dont usually review all the season of an anime but in this case I felt i had to. This is the kind of anime that makes when you are watching it makes you go "WAIT IS THAT TRUE?"! I wish there was a way to actually know if the information given in an anime like this is fact or fiction (Like Rurouni Kenshin- where Himura Kenshin wielded the “reverse-edge sword”)

The second season (can also be called season 1 part 2) picks up from where the first left off and added a bucket full of testosterone to this anime!
And boy do ... they sure know how to make it so you binge it all in one go. The characters and their motivation/ background are shown in such depth that you connect with them regardless of who or why they are fighting against
The artwork for these back stories was also a completely different type that just added more color to each charterer!

The anime should get a season 3 since its netflix ( I REALLY WANT A NEXT SEASON!) BUT REGARDLESS the ending of the season will leave you with whole lot of good feeling and wanting there to be more!

Story: It continues from season 1 and follows the next rounds with the other fighters. The fights were very pleasing to watch. The matchups were fun to watch, even if you know the results.

Art: The same as the last season, the choreography is good, the models looked somewhat funny to me the first time around but you get used to it.

Sound: Nothing really worthy nitpicking, except maybe you don't hear the audience cheering during the tournament fights like Okubo vs Agito.

Character: Each character has own reasons for fighting, the same flow as the first season. but still just as enjoyable. The last ... few episodes were definitely enjoyable for me.

Enjoyment and Overall: It's just a continuation from season 1 and it feels more enjoyable since it's more action-packed. Season 1 had to take time building up the characters but nothing wrong with that. This season has lots of replay value, even with CGI fights. I'd reccomend watching this season.

Kengan Ashura season 2 is the second season of the Ona anime based off the manga of the same name. It picks up immediately after the events of the first season, the second half of the Kengan Life or Death tournament is here and the fight scenes are just as epic if not better than S1. Let me just start off by saying that I enjoyed the fight scenes here more than I did in the first season it is way more epic. Now let me just conclude that Kengan Ashura season 2 is worse than season 1, the story of the second season is ... non existent, sure their is build-up with Ohma and Raian but besides that, there is nothing new here, the same people are plotting the same things, the same characters remain stagnant and stale without any character development, we also once again go back to Ohma's flashbacks as some sort of form of character development, but let me tell you guys this, the flashbacks don't work if you use them over and over again if anything they end up being annoying as fuck, and the argument between them stays the same with him claiming that the Niko style is weak and unnecessary, despite him for some reason not realizing that his master was the one who's weak not his style until it was too late, oh god this whole segment and the writing here sucks, in season 1 I was interested and indulged with the characters and the story, but sadly in the second season it was not the case, everything is way worse except for the fight scenes, it's like this season abandoned what made it great and just went full on Baki and just made it all about the epic gory fight scenes, such a shame in the first season I was interested and intrigued, but now I just see fight scenes that's about the only thing this season has going for it.

Cons:
-Is way worse in every aspect except for the fight scenes. The story, character development, entertainment and my curiosity everything just went down for this season
-CGI is still ass
-Certain character's lack screentime and good effective character development prime example here is Ohma



Overall Kengan Ashura season 2 is an inferior season compared to the first one, everything goes down a scale except for the fight scenes, and I'm glad I'm over with it, I will still continue watching the anime, hopefully it get good again, plus I'm expecting the season 2 part in the manga to be better as I'm reading it right now. If you're a fan of Baki type anime and Kengan Ashura in general you're pretty much required to watch this if you're an anime watcher, but if you're just reading the manga then go stick to that instead. I give Kengan Ashura season 2 a 6/10 for my overall anime rating.

I see this anime as an animation version of the fight games i used to play as Street Fighter or Tekken. Seeing it that way, this anime is perfect.

I feel that this anime has way more story than this "Tournament Format" requires but not enough to disturb the fight hype, the exaggerated techniques and abilitys from the fighters makes me remember from the games i used to play so i consider it as something positive.

Great addition to the first season. Fascinating fights and a wide cast of characters to keep you on your toes.

The Story is pretty strait forward, with the main companies trying to become the new head honcho. The fighters with there variety of fighting styles keep a nice pace changing and growing. Some fighters growing from the fights, as very typical of any fighting anime. And, our MC growing himself.

The visuals are a nice change to the basic anime style, as it fits a more fighting and rough style. They incorporate 3D decently as well.

The fights are good action with a great incorporation ... of many different styles of martial arts and made up styles as well (or secret ones). With some fantasy aspects to it that doesn't make the characters to unfair, gives some more life to their unique style.

I enjoyed this anime's S2 and would not mind a S3, if they do continue, i hope for some more of those curveball action scenes.

Okay. So, I started out this anime with very very little expectations. Something I will watch in my down time at work or maybe in the loo :P.

But my god was I mistaken. The anime doesn't have much of a plot, its all about fighting. But don't get me wrong, that is the beauty of it. The whole anime is a tournament arc you see in any shounen anime. Keeping apart the storyline, the fights are choreographed really well. All these new concepts you can see.

The Physique of each person in this anime makes me drool. Its ... all violence and blood and pure strength. All the characters have backstories that are explained before the fight so you know what's their motivation. How they think, etc.

Few downfalls are logic and a bit lack in storyline. Which is why this anime get's an 8.

An improvement over Part I in that it contains more effort to really flesh out at least a couple of the main characters and their motivations as well as a diverse and interesting array of fights without feeling like most were just pushovers. There are still some of those in the mix, and some fights certainly feel like they matter more while others feel kind of dispensable, but it still works, with even some of the "easy" fights ending in spectacular fashion. The animation of the fights is still very strong, but background characters largely get copy-pasted and there's still a pronounced weird effect on ... faces and bodies when they are more passive or 2D. A lot of what's going on in this series still feels relegated to the background, and while political maneuvering is starting in earnest in this part, there are still a lot of unknowns that make it difficult to know how much to buy into the broader schemes at play.

First of all the story... well we got a bunch of dudes fighting to prove who is the strongest. Exactly what you would expect out of this anime that is about fighting matches. I'm not really into sports anime in the first place but couldn't they have come up with another plot? Fighting for revenge? Fighting for money to save their family? Something with more substance!

Second, the art. Yes, the CGI is an eye sore. Took me the entire first season to get accustomed to. But this is one of the bloodiest anime out there- a plus in my book. Another plus- some of ... the women are hot.

Sound- choice of music not only goes perfect with the theme of the show but also just sounds good. I watched the show in english dubs and I thought the voice acting was spot on.

Character- none of the characters really had any substance to them. Like I said this series is severely lacking a plot.

Enjoyment- The fight scenes are entertaining. However, there is a lot of moments where they talk about the "science" behind why certain characters who are mere humans can do things that are outside of human capabilities. I am a nurse irl and I can tell you the science the give you is bs.

Overall- Would I watch this? Well I did. Would I watch it again? Probably not. Would I watch a third season? If netflix comes out with it then yeah it's great background noise while I clean the house lol

Poor animation, poor use of CGi, overlong exposition, slideshow to describe past events, impossible twists for the sake of twisting, what else do you need?

The CGi is actually the best part of the show for me. There are sequences where the characters were hand drawn and the animation was very poor.

Now the combat itself was interesting, but some unworldly twists that were just impossible even in anime universe made me jump out of it. For example, a small character whose ribs have been broken, pounded, stabbed by the opponent's fingers, his head crushed against the wall 5 times till the wall cracked. Ok, this ... small guy suddenly reversed the situation by choking his opponent who's 100lbs heavier than him... Yeah no.

Or that Super Saiyan fight towards the end of the season, where both fighters "transform" and the combat itself is barely watchable because of all the power punches animation smoking the screen.

If I wanted to watch Dragon Ball I would watch DB. The story barely moves forward and it's very predictable.
