One of the possible influences for Cannon Busters is Cowboy Bebop, yet the two head in very different directions regarding combing the influence of the wild west historical era with sci-fi. Both are dark and gritty with quirky humor as well.

Trgun is yet another series I suspect influenced the original source material for Canon Busters, yet is probably less likely than Cowboy Beepop and Samurai Champloo. A lot of the same humor courses through the series, yet don't let the fantasy genre deceive as there is a sci-fi element built in. In fact, there is a definite old versus new ways going on and lost technologies in both series.

Made in Abyss and Cannon Busters both have not entirely human protagonists. Both include a colorful pallet and interesting characters. Along with soundtracks you wouldn’t usually think of when it comes to anime.

Cannon Busters is an Anime based on a Western Source material of which I believe the creator was majorly influenced by Samurai Champloo along with other parts of Japanese culture. Despite this, Cannon Busters takes it's own spin on the tropes utilized in Samurai Champloo, yet isn't just influenced by that one source of influence. However, Cannon Busters helped remind me of how Samurai Champloo - even though Mugen is actually dark skinned Asian - has upon the African American community simply by showing a character whose skin isn't light.

Both anime with unique styles and soundtracks. The sounds being one of the greatest strengths of both shows. Both have main characters with scruffy hair and formidable almost unbeatable demeanour.

Both shows are a mix of extreme violence with a lot of comedy and excentric characters. Also both of them are set up in an alternative weird world.

Both shows are great examples of positive representation of black people & culture in anime. Both main characters have amazing hair & are rugged and formidable. Both have original and unique soundtracks as well as great world building, art styles and character designs.

Last Exile is a “middle-road” sci-fi like Cannon Busters. Both have little gems that make them interesting. Last Exile is set in a steampunk world where flight is more common than driving thanks to Claudia crystals.

I'll start off by saying we've the same rouge like character as a main protagonist with dark skin and an afro, of whom each develops differently over the course of the series. The series also contains a lot of the same humor, but both utilize the Western and Fantasy genre, though Canon Busters adds in the sci-fi element on top of the Fantasy. The art work is unique for each, yet the viewer is given the same feeling of dread for the entire world if things are not resolved. Even the female protagonists have their own naivety regarding the stiuation.

Characters team up on a road trip to look for a lost loved one. Lots of violence chasing after them.

Oban Star-Racers also includes a ragtag team of “buddies” all with their own goals like Cannon Busters. Both do a beautiful job building up the relationships and fearing for their character’s lives.
