Where did you guys bring the fun to me as a viewer?

watching at the end of Episode 1, the CV went to pray at the shrine. I wish the anime had a season 2 or the anime was popular. At that moment, the first thought that popped into my head was, "Are you insulting the intelligence of an viewer like me?"

Rusted Armors is an enigma. Nobody really cared for or bothered to watch it. I thought Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department would be the only real series I enjoyed this season, but I was wrong. As the next CGI series carrying the torch after Ex-Arm and Tesla Note, I wanted to see what it had to offer since Tesla Note was hilarious 10/10 so bad it's good content. This series has the same soul as it. It's a series that fought against it's awful CGI with everything else it had and won. It's clear the staff put a lot of love into this ... series when you really think about it in the end. It's backed by a great soundtrack, a loveable cast of characters that get deeply explored, Good voice acting, great humor and character dynamics, family themed emotional storytelling, and nice segments at the end of each episode where two of the main voice actors get to explore food and settings that inspired the series among other things. I'm sure they had a lot of fun since this is something unique this series tried to do. The character development is strong and not a single main character gets left out. Tragically, it's the clearly bad CGI animation that made it all fall apart so many times. I know this is going be historically hated, and that those that enjoyed it will be laughed it. Still, there's a charm to Rusted Armors, it's story, and it's characters.

The mistakes are there. Awful CGI crows, sound effects to nothing, horrifying looking background characters, backgrounds that look like something out of MS Paint, bad and grainy rendering, characters that look like lifeless puppets, overexaggerated sound effects, laughable voice acting from the generic copy and paste enemies, the usual still frame and slideshow disasters that can get almost as bad as those in Requiem of the Rose King, laughably bad 2D animation between the CGI, and silly errors like showing a guy who is sitting on the floor, but they still play the sound of him grunting and sitting down. There were many times early on that the series kept falling apart and sinking further. How could Rusted Armors redeem itself?

The writing in this is strong in that every characters is clearly shown their personal issues, their struggle to overcome, and their resolve as they try to stay mentally strong. The bond between the cast feels sincere like that of an actual family that really grew on me. This is mostly the story of two brothers, and the Rusted Armors: weapons that often look like gun swords that were used to cause power struggles in different countries. The main antagonist is comically evil, and even he gets some nice development by the end. I couldn't help but laugh at him hilariously dancing to classical music among the dead bodies around him after a battle.

Magoichi at first felt like a joke of a protagonist. As the series development, it turned out there was a lot more to him than I thought, and his somewhat naïve and foolish optimism became respectable to me. There's a tragedy to the core of Rusted Armor's story: He grew up teaching his brother to become powerful. This is something that would go to his brother's head, as Lucio would go on to use it to kill nations. Magoichi would later suffer from memory loss, and try to undo what he caused while slowly remembering that he wasn't always the typical hero main character he was revealed to be in the beginning. His teacher Oda is voiced by Toshiki Masuda who also voiced Yamato from Megaton-kyuu Musashi. As a result, I already knew to expect a wonderful performance. Magoichi's best friend Deku is a silly character, that as annoying and foolish as he is, is still a loveable brute.

One of the ideas explored is the purpose and meaning of power. One character might see power only as a means to conquer and kill; that those without are to be preyed upon. As satisfying as this view is to Lucio, it's hollow and covering up for his insecurities. Poetically, It is his abuse and obsession with power that becomes his downfall. Another idea explored is finding a purpose. As I mentioned earlier, the viewers will come to understand what exactly each main character is really about, and their purposes that they realize in life.

As the ED played one last time with Magoichi aimlessly flailing his Rusted Armor around in the purple void to Fantastics from Exile Tribe's nice and melancholy ending sequence song, and as the voice acting cast said goodbye in the after segment, this series did bring a tear to my eye. Maybe I am the only that saw something in this that the few others who watched it and hated it didn't, and maybe I am not the best at explaining this, but this series really connected with me and I didn't want it to end.

In my life of watching anime i always have that 'casual customer' view on the 'animation'. Ruster Armors is by far one of the best in this category even beaten the likes of EX-Arm and more. Even Berserk 2016 can't beat this.

The story in Rusted Armors is very promising. it's intake on classical shonen mixed with in-depth writing is such a treat.
The characters in the series start off not as 'likable' but once the anime adapts the rest of this season and more in the future you'll begin to like them even more.

The setting of the Sengoku era ... and packed action full of warlords. it's just wondrous and reminds me of masterful series like in 'Kingdom'. Rusted Armors also develops into the seinen genre as well. OH Boy I love anime :)

Rusted Armors is a special anime to me. It may be not to you but for me I think it is a start to a masterpiece in the making.

Oh and by the way, whenever you make such opinions about a series animation why don't you do try yourself and see if you can make a better one?

The rating of this series is vey poor and i must say I don't think people are actually seeing right but oh well. it's all subjective.

Every season, I come searching for that one anime and no it is not aot nor is it demon slayer, I look for refined animes such as this one. Coming from gibate and ex-arm, I had already set such a high bar when It comes to anime and oh did this one manage to surpass it all. While watching, I was having a constant migraine as It was really stressful going through many turn of events and it made me feel very intense and excited to see what comes after. One of the main things which makes this show revolutionary is its animation as the ... studio spectrum stood up for its name and displayed such a beautiful spectrum of colors when animating this anime. One point I would like to mention and this point is why I mainly enjoy shows such as this and ex-arm, is the comedic factor when it comes to these animes. it pains my heart to see that people miss on this intense and fun ride.
You might be asking as to why I watched three episodes of this anime and the answer to this is because it is the minimum amount of episodes needed to write a review.

The... art could have been a lot better. One would think how awful and how much criticism Berserk was given would give studios an idea of being more direct when using CGI or making sure their CGI looks 100% sharp. In one instance of Sabiiro no Armor, we see soldiers running away, but their run animations were just awful

I don't think many studios have gotten using CGI on top of 2d animation correctly except for a few instances to try to give a distinction of something otherworldly, or something like Ghost In The Shell. Most who tried planting 3D ... animations into their 2D animations has made the animation a bit jarring for many to watch, and it distracts us from an otherwise good/fun story and cool looking characters (I very much like the design of Magoichi.)


The premise of the story is that a foreigner comes to Japan sometime around the Warring States Period of Japan where guns/muskets were starting to be used. We follow a foreigner working as a mercenary protecting those who can't protect themselves during this period.

If it wasn't for the jarring 3d animation, the anime would have been pretty good.

I'll be very honest, I've watched this anime for the sake of hearing Masuda Toshiki (Saburo) speak in a manly way. Not even Masuda-san can save this anime because from the moment the animators decided to do an EX-ARMS and Berserk 2016, Sabiiro no armor already shot itself in the foot with no way of redeeming itself

I've not seen the stage-play so I went into this anime blind. I'm sure the characters and the story are exciting in the stage-play but it's very hard to get yourself immersed into it when the anime's background is lackluster and when the anime decided to put 2D into ... it, they're drawn in the lowest of the low quality. I'm not even joking. Legit, when they're drawing characters in 2D, it feels like the animators just went "I'm going to draw this with the hand I don't usually use to draw! Lol!"

The only reason why I'm rating it a 3 and not lower than that because the VAs actually put a lot of effort into their acting despite the inevitable low review for whatever this is. The VAs- majority of them are new with only Masuda Toshiki being the only veteran. The voices at the very least fit every character.
Another reason why I am not rating lower than a 3 is because some episodes actually got me laughing.

The only good thing about this anime are the Opening song, Ending song, and Masuda Toshiki and the new VAs. I hope this anime doesn't screw the new VAs over and I hope to hear their voices in better works than this.

Seriously, who even greenlit this animation style? Learn from EX-ARMS and Berserk 2016 already, animators, nobody likes low tiered CGIs. Though I will admit at least the characters DO blink unlike in EX-ARMS

i watched episodes 1-4 in one sitting. i had to pause every episode in several places and just groan and shake my head and take a break. yes, this show is that bad.

i've seen 'EX-Arm' and finished it. this show is only SLIGHTLY better technically with the art and animation. like a sliver of a millimeter better. at least 'Rusted Armors' doesn't mix 2D and 3D characters side-by-side in the same scene. the animators did try, in several places, to make their characters' faces show expressions. but the writing is sub-sub-subpar compared to 'EX-Arm' storylines and screenplay.

as one reviewer stated, some running away soldiers, ... yep, i saw that scene. they look like they were animated by a 2-year-old with an Etch-a-Sketch.

'Reboot', an all CGA Canadian sci-fi show from 2000! did a better job than 'Rusted Armors' did.

perfect example, watch the EP for this show. the MC goes through several 'kata' with his sword, then his sword and firearm, and back to just his sword. this will show you how CRAPPY this team of animators was. did this team use MOCAP (motion capture) technology from the 1990's?

the synopsis of this one is wrong. change it. the word you guys were looking for is.

tokusatsu.

this is not based on a play. it is based on a Japanese 'special effects' live action experience. Super Sentai. Power Rangers. Kamen Rider. UltraMan. get my drift? they just do this one on a stage, like a play, instead of filming it for TV/movies etc. and that's where 'Rusted Armors' should have stayed.

as an anime, it is a disappointment to any computer animation enthusiast (like myself) who hopes that the number of projects using this form of media will increase and improve public opinion. but once more, i am disappointed.

skip this show. it will most probably be a waste of your time.

I've finally done it. After years of searching, I have reached the pinnacle of anime.

I can't believe that this even exists in reality. That's how absolutely horrible this is. The art is literally done in Flash. The animation is even worse. The characters are so one-dimensional that I'm surprised the design team didn't just revert to stick figures. The sound design is so bad that it would have been an improvement to just phone it in on a landline from Pyongyang. The voice acting might as well have been done by random people dragged off the streets and threatened by force to read the script. ... The plot made no sense from the jump to the final episode. There is no rhyme nor reason, nor anything resembling a coherent thought to be found in the entire production.

It is truly the worst anime I have ever seen. I hate this more than Cosprayers. I hate this more than Ex-Arm. I hate this more than Gibiate.

Combined.

I have truly outdone myself.

Now if you will excuse me, I need to go remove my eyeballs with azidoazide azide.

I am a bit biased because I love the Saika Ikki theme in Japanese history.

While anime in itself is pretty bland, I watch this for the travelogue after end credits :)

Still, it's nice to see someone took up Saika Ikki and made an anime/ manga/ show about them, because they lack attention in all the Sengoku Jidai- themed media. You can only see them in video games and that's about it. They were a pretty cool group and they definitely need more recognition! Hell, I once did a manga spinoff of a game where they appeared to explore their story because I was ... that desperate.

Rusted Anime.

Rusted Armors could’ve been a great anime. It’s CGI animation is actually pretty good compared to the disaster pieces that came out of 2021 and it naturally fits into the old Sengoku era, water coloured backdrops and scenery. Character models move naturally and display a wide range of expressions and emotions without entering uncanny valley territory like in Tesla Note, nor are the characters cross-eyed like in Shikizakura or… just empty, starring voids with flapping mouths like in Ex-arm. These things combined give the show a Viewtiful Joe kinda vibe and honestly I’m all about it.
I also like the character designs. Everyone looks ... stylish in their own way and the weapons they use are cool as hell.

However, what makes the show fall apart is it’s very mediocre, very boring (in my opinion) story and characters. If you’ve seen any shonen-equse, action anime before then there is nothing in this show that you haven’t seen before. From character personalities to the story line and plot beats everything here has been done in much better anime and that made watching this show feel kind of pointless.

I don’t have much more to say on Rusted Armors other than that it’s a shame it couldn’t have been better. I was rooting for it. Just watch Orient. That’s fun. Oh and Sabikui Bisco! That’s cool too.
