Bakugan: Battle Planet

I remember being so exited to watch this show thinking this will be something i can enjoy while connecting with my younger self but, the show turned out to be a disappointment. All I can say is "I'm glad i grew up with the original". The show just doesn't feel the same and is way too far off from is't predecessor. it has amazing animation and wonderful voice actors but they don't suit the type of character's of the kids in the show. It's hard to be compelled in the story and the narration if I have already seen it before(done better) for me it's ... just not it but maybe young new viewers whom haven't seen battle brawlers may enjoy the series, I guess ignorance is bliss

Shortly after finishing season 4 of the OG Bakugan, I was excited when I found out that there's a spin off. And then, I dropped it right after finishing episode 1. Here's why.

The main cast formed a group called "The Awesome Ones". I appreciate their self confidence, but they and their team name were not awesome at all. They were technically just random kids posting their battles in ViewTube. While that's annoying on its own, the main cast were named after some of the main cast of the OG Bakugan which made matters worst and more opportunities to compare. Battle Planet Dan was a typical ... kid in a typical tv show. Drago lacked the stoic sass he had in the original. Oh and even dogs can summon Bakugan. How great.

The story behind the cause of the Bakugan made no sense. The Bakugan themselves looked and acted robotic compared to their organic OG counterparts. The combat system made no sense. Instead of using game cards/ability cards, characters just run around the field getting glowing shapes for abilities while at the same time risking getting killed on the battle field.

Worst first impression ever.

This is only good if you have a younger kid/sibling who is into this. And you are stuck watching it with them. At max this is 6 stars; with some funny slapstick moments. It can even get cool sometimes and is inclusive with the cast. However, that ain't enough . . .

But if you take into fact this isn't nearly as good as other kids shows. Like the original Beyblade series, Yugioh, Medabots, or/and Zoids. Then this is definitely trash tier at about 3 stars. Some people might even say the OG Bakugan is better than this reboot. But honestly it doesn't matter, because even ... the original wasn't that good.

Last two things; those transformation scenes are a tab bit too long, they should consider shortening them. The video games that were on the Wii and DS, were bomb! At least 7 stars out of 10 for those bad boys; if you ever come around them online, or in a mom and paps shop.

My brother and I watched this together because he really liked the original show and wanted to check this out. The beginning of this show didn't start out very well. It was slow and none of the characters were very likeable at first. However, starting at episode 14, the story started to get much better and the characters started to really improve. We both thought it got really interesting. Unfortunately, you need to watch through the beginning episodes to understand what's going on and make the character development meaningful. It is also kind of childish at times and you can tell that it is made ... for kids, but it still has an interesting story that they do some cool stuff with. Overall, I really enjoyed it despite the slow beginning, but it isn't for everyone. If you like big, over-the-top anime or tv shows, you might like this, but if not you probably wouldn't like it.
