Preliminary Spoiler
Nov 10, 2010
The story is fairly simple - a young man moves from the country to Tokyo to start a new life at highschool, and falls in love at first sight with a promising athletic student (the titular character of the show). In short it's a love story, and while the premise sounds bland, so do those of some of the very best animes.

Suzuka, however, is not one of them. It's often described as "character driven" but this is a terrible thing because the majority of the characters (including the two main ones) are barely likable and have few redeeming qualities. Yamato ...

Overview:

Suzuka is a romantic comedy anime about a quirky doofus who moves into a girl's dormitory run by his aunt. He then develops a crush for an obnoxious and abusive bitch who constantly beats him. So...this is Love Hina right? WRONG! This is something far, FAR worse!

Background:

Romantic comedies have always followed a similar formula. In the Western world this formula was created during the Commedia dell'arte in 1500s Italy. In Act 1 the male and female lead both dislike each other and seem to be opposites. In Act 2 the male and female discover common ground and grow closer together. In Act 3 there is ...

Great teen dramas are a rarity. It is hard to find a teen drama that transcends the heavy melodrama that envelops most shows of the demographic. This is especially disconcerting considering how prominent they are in the world of anime. Shows like Toradora and Hanasaku Iroha manage to be exceptions, and they are gems for that very reason. Unfortunately, Suzuka only serves as a reminder of just how rare shows of that quality are.

The story is pretty standard; boy moves to Tokyo and a girl immediately catches his eye. The boy in question is Yamato Akitsuki, a laid-back carefree high school student; the girl ...

This is a romance anime with barely any romance in it. And when romance parts do happen, they are done for the wrong reasons and just to push unnecessary, predictable and poorly written drama.

This anime has 26 episodes, 23 min per episode. That's roughly 10 hours. That is a lot of time for some. So I warmly suggest you to spend few minutes to read my review, and then decide if you want to commit 10h of your time to this anime.
First I will talk without spoilers, but later I will jump into spoiler territory (I will emphasize it).

I don't like giving it a low ...

A crush is a strange thing. It can start when someone shows kindness or sympathy for you, or it could happen with no more than a glance. "Love at first sight" they say. But in the same breath, they say "Love is blind". When you fall for someone, there's not much you can do, even if they are a complete and utter b@#ch. Enter Suzuka, a sports/"romance" anime that will take you on emotional ride. That is, if that ride were on a unicycle over a long, gravel road...

Suzuki is supposed to be a high school romance drama, but...was it supposed to be romantic? Every ...

Do not watch this anime first and foremost!

Okay Suzuka the main heroine, a wonderful athlete and an even more wonderful bitch. I don't think there is any better word to describe her. The main character (i forgot his name) is in love with her (no spoiler here its pretty obvious even before watching it) for some odd reason I'm guessing it's because he is a masochist because all Suzuka does is bitch at him all throughout the anime. In the beginning I believed that he was actually too good for Suzuka because he would put in effort without getting much in return, but after ...

Do you long for the days of highschool teenage angst and being a complete moron? Well, good news then, you need help and this anime would fit you. If you are somewhere or anywhere remotely close to being a well adjusted individual then look somewhere else. If you are in that group well, my condolences.

The characters here are completely unlikable and horrendous with no redeeming quality, so much so that you long for a School Days ending to them all. The whole situation here honestly becomes annoying where drama is created for the sake of drama.

You know how much of a shitty anime this ...

simply unwatchable. characters are unlikeable hypocrites. Soundtrack was forgetable. Art wasn't too bad for the time but looks dreadful today. and story is bland, frustrating, and downright annoying. Only watch if you wish to torture yourself.

Okay here's the thing out of all the RomCom/Drama animes i have watched, i have never seen such a shitty anime that left a really pathetic impression like this one. This is by far the worst RomCom drama i have ever seen.

Suzuka is about a boy, yes, it is about a boy, and not a girl, i know, i know the title and the picture of Suzuka all covered in sweat are misleading but believe me a pussy drench in sweat is tastier than this, it should be titled "Akitsuki's Love Conquest" not Suzuka. So it's about a boy goes in the big city, filled ...

Preliminary (5/26 eps)
I came back to this series three times, but the misandry (hatred of males) was so extreme that I couldn't get past episode 5 or so.

Every single word out of any female characters' mouth is a put-down or an insult to the male main character. "You're such and idiot! What is wrong with you? Can't you do anything right? You're such a creep! Why did you take me HERE? Are you done yet? Get away from me! You're so stupid!" - On and on and on and on.

Its just constant, constant, constant male-bashing... Constant insults, constant put-downs, constant SH!T from the girls. No warmth, ...

Of course this is my opinion.

Story: 6/10
Has potential, A bit cliche in some parts. But some tend to work around that and make a great story out of it. However sometimes things go terribly wrong as well.

Art: 6/10
It was good, But it tended to be somewhat low quality at most parts.

Sound: 3/10

Well, after finishing Suzuka all I can say is that I was utterly disappointed with it. For starters, this anime starts of well. With an almost fairy-tale like quality to it.

Our main character, Yamato, first sees the heroine of the story (Suzuka) on his way over to his new apartment and instantly develops a crush on her. When, by pure coincidence, Suzuka turns out to be his next-door neighbor and lives in the same block of apartments as him.

This is where the fairy-tale aspect comes into the show, there's a lot of charming little coincidences like this and this allows us to really look forward ...

Preliminary (17/26 eps)
I feel Suzuka is as cliche as a high school romcom anime can get. It's not just that it's cliche - it's just downright annoying. I found all three of the main characters, Akitsuki, Suzuka and Honoka annoying. Akitsuki because he just allows himself to be insulted all the time by Suzuka and let's be real, he wasn't really in love with her - he was just infatuated with her because of her elegance in jumping. Then you have Suzuka - it's understandable that she has a traumatic past, but it's just a really bland tsundere persona that you can find in myriads of other ...
