Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo, or translated as “even if the world ends tomorrow”, is considered to be a drama, romance, action, and sci-fi movie. While this movie holds an interesting concept and great potential, they were executed poorly. It is not entirely bad, but rather a disappointing one.

Story - 4/10
Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo is a story of two people, involving two worlds, or so-called two Japan. The story itself is easy to follow and understandable. Only the confusing part is the ending due to a lack of proper explanation ... of its logic. While the first half of the movie is mainly drama and romance, the other half is mainly action and sci-fi. The sci-fi concept is interesting and explained clearly, but the drama and the romance element are not being executed very well. They do exist in the movie, but they had no effects on me at all, mainly due to being driven by lifeless characters, which will be explained later in the characters section.

Animation - 4/10
The overall art of Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo is vibrant, it consists of nice scenery art, but not-so-good 3D art style on characters. Using a 3D art style on characters is somewhat a bad idea for 3 reasons. First, it does not go well with the scenery art, next, it mostly came out low-quality and low-FPS, and lastly, it is difficult or unnatural for characters to show emotions or expressions.

Watching this movie is like watching an in-game cutscene, but it lags. The sequences in action scenes are made pretty fine, but it still lags. It is true that if the FPS is too high it would become weird for an anime, but this is too low, making it disturbing to watch.

Sound - 7/10
Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo consists of an insert song and an ending song by Aimyon, which I personally feel neutral towards them, but they might be perfect for fans of Aimyon or people who have their music tastes matched. As for soundtracks, I considered them to be standard, I am not a sound expert, so I would say that I find nothing outstanding and nothing bugged me.

Characters - 4/10
As being said, Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo holds great potential, but these lifeless characters ruined it, probably resulted from using 3D art style on characters. They literally do not show any facial expressions, whether it is joy or sadness. Only love is shown in speech and fear is shown in screams. As for the other parts, background and motive of all characters are being told clearly, they are not detailed, but enough to understand them and the story.

Enjoyment - 4/10
I enjoyed the sci-fi concept and the vibrance of the art. Action scenes are fairly enjoyable, but romance and drama elements are not. What I did not enjoy the most were lifeless characters, the 3D art style used on them, and the low FPS.

Recommendations
Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo is not a bad watch, but it is not a good one either. The movie did not reach my standards and expectations, but it might reach yours. If you like sci-fi, I encourage you to give this movie a try. Enjoy!

begins with the story, at the time of the second world war occurred, scientists were doing research but a large study and even then had to end in failure. As a result, the incident made the world split into two. As a result of the division of the world, the earth also has the same inhabitants. The point is that even if the world becomes two, it has no effect on humans. It means we have two pairs of ourselves / twins. By having two bodies in common, they have defied the laws of nature. There is ... a rule, if one of us is killed then both must die. The incident caused several people in Japan to die suddenly. This is where the story starts.

The story focuses on two teenagers namely Kotori and Shin. They live a normal life like teenagers in general. but their daily life changes when a person who looks like Shin comes and declares that he will kill Kotori. I think the story is not very interesting but there are parts where the scenes that I like such as conflict and climax of a story that is very fitting in my opinion.

If you ask whether this is similar or parallel to the Kimi no Na wa graphic design? of course I will answer "this will not lose". According to various people, anime with CG graphics is a bad anime even though the assumption is wrong. Although the animation seems stiff but there are times when nothing is perfect in this world. I will mention some weaknesses and strengths in my opinion. If you rely on animation by drawing it will be bad in the action part. Meanwhile, CG excels in that section. Ma, the point is it's not that bad.

Character design is also very interesting. They make the character design as blank as possible. As a result, the characters are not the same as the other characters. Robot design is no less good, especially during scenes where robots fight and destroy each other.

Voices are good, they have done a good job. What I like the most is the insert song or accompaniment song that they listen to is very good. The lyrics are also full of meaning and add to the impression in every scene / story that occurs.Sound effects such as fighting and flying robots seem real and that makes me even more happy with this. The point is that the sound is good.

Did you enjoy this one? it all depends on you all, but I can assure you that this one hour and thirty minutes will not be in vain because of the long duration it will pay off with an incredible cg effect.

Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo is an anime no one notices. Airing in the winter of 2019, it's another entry of the never ending list of animes having great potential but falling short due to poor executions and various different reasons.

Hazama Shin is an antisocial high-schooler, but he always had a crush on his childhood friend, Izumi Kotori. One day, with all his courage, he asks the girl out on a date. But before love could blossom, a doppelganger of Shin appeared out of nowhere and attacked Kotori with a strange looking robot. What will happen to them? Let's find out.

While the premier can confuse ... the viewer a bit, the story itself is pretty straightfoward and not that complicated. With the run time of an hour and a half, the infodump is quite big and done in a poor way. What bugs me lies in the story, which such creative start, the director semmingly has no clue how to advance the story, what is its motive? Why we should care for the characters? And even with a happen ending, the story is still flat and doesn't get exploited to its potential.

With such short time, no doubt most of the characters are one-dimensional. The only one benefits from this adventure is Shin and his doppelganger. They're actually becoming better characters at the end. The worst characters here are the bad guys. They barely get screen time, we even don't see their faces. Their motive are unclear. In the end, if you want to know why the hell did they do that, sadly, you won't have an answer.

As a nearly full bad CGI show, Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo is surely not pleasant to watch even though I don't have a problem with the ways the main characters are designed. They still feel distant and disconnected with the audience.

Overall, with that many problems, I can't say that this movie is worth your time. But if you're into weird stuff, you can give it a try.

This movie was, how should I put it? — A bit of a mess. It definitely has an interesting story, but in my opinion, it’s executed very poorly.

Story :- It’s a story about, parallel dimensions. It’s not exactly what is explained in the story, but to get a simple idea, it’s about 2 earths. I actually started watching the anime, expecting a romance slice-of-life with some science fiction mystery sprinkled on top, because, the genre tags are Drama/Romance; I guess that was my bad. I actually did not expect this to be an action packed science fiction adventure with some romance sprinkled on top instead. ... But either way, the pacing of the story is a bit off. The scenes felt odd, everything was happening really fast. At times, the plot was moving very fast, and the relaxing slice-of-life type scenes were oddly placed at the middle. The story was not that good.

Characters :- Characters have their own goals and motivations, which I appreciate. The characters who don’t at the beginning, will understand their goals later. So it made sense about what and why they were taking the actions they took. I always like when writers include character development into the story, I’m more of a character focused story fan personally. There was character development. But that character development, did not feel satisfying or logical. The emotions and motivations of the characters (most of them) just changed with mere words by another character. It just felt so unnatural and unsatisfying.

Animations :- I personally am not a huge fan of 3D animes. But I’ll look at this anime with a non-biased mind. And I think the animations are quite decent. The animations looked a little bit unnatural to be completely honest. They were not bad by any means, the movements of the characters were robotic. I always thought that since these animes are 2D, the animators might not be experienced in 3D animation, and that’s why the animations are bad. But it was until I saw a specific episode of Osomatsu-san, where Jyushimatsu was animated in 3D—which was amazingly well done. I wish more animation studios implicated those methods. In my opinion and personal taste, the animations don’t need to be realistic all the time; they just need to be pleasing to watch.

At the end, I did enjoy the anime quite a bit. The story idea was interesting and it isn’t so bad that I absolutely hated the anime or anything. I think it had a lot more potential to do something much better.

This film, displays 3G visualization that spoil the eye. See how in the first scene, they display visual effects in terms of first-person point view. I am impressed with it, and even more, get attached with their design of concept. But, the problem then is stiffness. It seems that the movement problem of each character feels very rough, like a robot. Supposedly, the movement can be refined to a more detailed level.

In addition, the problem of a coherent story also seems to burden my mind a little. Apparently, the director was not too concerned about it. However, if it is demanded in terms of story ... movement, there seems to be a lot of oddity in it. I do not know, it's just that the storyline is not too comforting my own heart. At first it might look so good. But, when it began to enter the peak of the conflict, the peculiarity was increasingly felt.

Seriously, all points feel floating. To the point of being empty. What really happened? What is the purpose of this story? Let me make it all neat in terms of the story, in my opinion. But before that, I will say that I am interested in whole main story idea. And stunned, by the beauty of the animation of this film. The 3G CGI was really amazing, im shocked! But, enough until that point. The problem becomes wide after it. So lets say my point come through only Art, and music plus sound OST sections. This film must get my 10. Still, MAL need overall to other sections like story development and its character. Is that all good? I must say, average.

As a start, we realize that the death of MC's mother was the initial problem. Unfortunately, it is only a trick. Even the romantic relationship between MC and Kotori (heroine) seems to only be a distraction from the main problems that hit the world of MC. What is that?

Japan, without anybody realizing it, it split into two different worlds with with the same people who are tied together, they were strangely connected to each other in different worlds, unnoticed by each party, until death. There is no way to know 5W1H for that concept of premises. The concept of logic on the main premises feels nonsense, illogical, defective ways of thinking, original thought without suggestions, and so on. Is everything finished? Not yet.

As a main concept, it turns out to be raises some various problems of consistency. Like at the last moment,

did Kotori comes back to life again? Thats nonsense really out of control. Fortunately, the girl's revival scene only lasted for a few seconds without the end being clarified. Because if such an end is clarified, of course controversy will occur, and make the storyline even more unclear and feels stupid. The concepts were clear, however their decision making the end happy through relations between MC and heroine makes the whole story completely nothing.

You can take that as a main plot armor. Its okay. But i resist that shit happen. Just no, enough with that bullshit. What i see here is not some classical Shounen type of show. I need some new show, which is why i so shame to this show at all. Thats my first complain here. Next, what i dislike, is the characterization.

In a storyline development, plot grooves must also be accompanied by balanced character development. But, as can be seen clearly to the show, with a series that seems rushed toward any side, the character development looks half-measures rather i must it dulled. All changes take place within seconds of duration. Suddenly, Boom! Your MC becomes a classical hero without nice explanations beyond his changed. The only just Kotori clinging MC shoulder, Whispers some 'encouraging words', is the biggest mistake, even I can say there is a lame way to complete such a turn point to the plot. This is the spot point, why i say the characterization begone so lacking.

In addition, it seems that, besides the MC duo who are involved in a strange battle, the other characters are just an extras without more credit screentime. I am laughed so hard knowing that condition. Apparently, the studio did not want to spend a lot time and their budget to further deepen the story in terms of the sided character's view. A lame accusation. Because actually, the story of two separate worlds that unite in a strange way itself actually can still be explored in the direction of the storyline even deeper. Alas, apparently our thoughts are different due to several factors non-existent.

Before going too far, I have to correct the genre section in this story. In MAL, this show was tagged as a drama and romance. But, in my point of view, this show shall be added by Fantasy, Mecha, Action, and finally can attach drama and romance. Thats weird without attaching that kind of tagged. Because why not? This show was not a real life, with weird plot adding Isekai as a villain. Suck decision, and disgusting way to entertain the audience. What i hate is a romance tag tho, where the hell is the romance there? Nothing. Only some parts in the beginning, a little more in the center of the show, and its moments gone by crazy action shit.

Thats the main genres, the action! Why added such a little scenes of a sub-plot romance, in the way like that? I don't even care with the end romance thingy, because its a non-existent. The end shall be great into the removal link scenes with Riko and Miko attempts and cut the very last scene with MC confession. Its unnecessary, really, its no need. But, they add such a disgusting scenes for hoping the audience great you? I, as a respected watcher, never begone crazy for that ending. My complain ended in there.

As an overall i may welcomed this show as 10. But, since some thing happen and change my mind, this show must be ended in 7 point. I am sorry with that. The last scene ending must be cut to the non-existent of the heroine. That revival scene really no needed. Thats it, i even restated it more than one to make my mind clear. Then i must say my point again here, as a story, 6 must be too good, as well as the characterization. 10 for the art and sounds, enjoyment last for my 9. But, with every minus point get revealed, i dont have much choice to reduce 9 to 7 to the Overall. Thats 7 must more than enough for this show. Hope its the best.

Guilty pleasure are the words that crossed my mind the first time I think about this anime, objectively, it's bad all across the board, the story, the visuals, the audio experience, everything, but still enjoyable nonetheless. The story are rather simple and paced fast from the beginning, I noticed it right away when they did a lot of time skip that left a lot ... of details unexplained, they moved the story forward without explaining anything, not the world, not the technology, the ideology, none. The only choice I have is to let myself dragged by the main characters and just guess what is what, by the end of the anime, I felt so empty and confused, and even thought, why the hell did I watch this anime, one thing for sure, the action battles are one of the main things that kept me sit still until the end of the movies and not the story. Do I need to mention that they also introduced a lot of plot armors throughout the whole movie? I mean, that way I can care even less to the story and more to the action, my advice: just turn off your brain while watching this one, it's enjoyable that way...

The arts are... something, just when I watched the first few seconds of the anime, I almost instantly closed it, I've heard that it's bad, but I can't believe it's this bad, or so I've thought. I changed my mind somewhere in the middle, like I don't care, and I'm used to this weird 3D arts, and it's enjoyable especially when it's battle scenes. It's not the smoothest anime out there, and the frame counts are abysmal, but it's still enjoyable, somehow, which means they did something right, I don't know what it is though. The details of the world are great, until they moved to the other world and I saw a lot of copy paste template, some are okay, to save the budget, I know this, but majority of them? Nope, don't do this please... The character designs are meh, it's not bad, not great either though, but due to the immature CG technology they have, all the characters lacks the facial expression they should have and broke my immersion a couple time due to their expression is just out of place.

Aimyon is one of the greatest singer from Japan that I know, so I expected something great from her, but unfortunately it didn't turned out well this time. The theme song, which have the same title as the anime, is okay at best, it's good to listen to, but after you listened to it, you will most probably forget it right after, it's just like the story itself, it's lacking the punch. The seiyuus failed miserably to bring the characters alive, which is surprising if you're looking at the cast (Yuuki Kaji, Kenjirou Tsuda, Inori Minase and Aoi Yuuki among many). Their dialogue feels so stiff and bland, the sound effects and BGM also didn't help, looks like the audio directors need a lot more things to learn.

Conclusion:

Reasons to watch:
-You're looking for some guilty pleasure anime
-You're looking for this very specific combination of genre

Reasons NOT to watch:
-A bad story with bad writing, lots of plot holes, blatant use of plot armor
-Usage of immature CG technology for the whole anime

The idea for the anime was actually good. The execution of said idea - not so good.
3D animation was surprisingly great, but stiff when it comes to character emotions and movement when put in a situation outside of a battle.
Enemies were way too easy to defeat. I absolutely hate it when initially strong enemies suddenly turn into an useless existence, whose main purpose is to make the "good guys" stand out and polish their hero image. I don't think some creators understand the importance of a good "bad guy" image, which was missing here entirely.
Another disappointment was the ... fact that with such power and endless possibilities in the hands of both worlds this could have gone to a much better direction plot-wise and actually make the anime worlds better.
And so, we've reached the ending, which was of course a happy ending for both main characters. Too much of a cliche for me. I don't mind happy endings, but an anime doesn't necessarily need everyone to live happily ever after to be a successful story.
All in all, it was a fine watch, and while it wasn't exactly my cup of tea, it can very well be something another person can fall in love with, so give it a chance and judge for yourself.

Story: 7/10
The story itself is interesting and the concepts are very well thought out considering most sci-fi stories can be confusing to understand. One thing I liked was the idea of multiple worlds or parallel worlds and the thought of them actually existing as depicted in the anime made me think ... it could be real one day. The main characters counterparts in the other world reach out to the characters in our perspective of the normal world and work together to solve what is going on between the relationship of the 2 worlds. The story had a lot of potential however, there were many things it needed to change in order for the movie to properly execute this complex storyline. *Will explain later

Art: 7/10
The art is not all that mind blowing as most anime’s tend to have decent art design, however, in this movie the anime is done in 3D or CG whatever it is called and the movement and flow of characters is a bit awkward to watch at times especially in regular movement like walking and swinging their arms. The animation style wasn’t too bad if you got used to it but for some it can be an annoying pet peeve to see as we are all used to the normal animation we see in the majority of anime we watch. Personally, I have seen anime’s with this kind of style and some mix it with the regular style so I did not have any problems watching the movie. The art for the character designs matched cleanly with the background and the background art in itself was well done considering for the different animation style.

Sound: 7/10
The soundtracks used in the movies weren’t all too special but they matched nicely with the scenes and if you can selectively hear them, it is actually not bad
considering the scenes they are used in and the type of music artists they hired.
Sound effects in my opinion were well done, the fighting sound effects, explosions, futuristic sounds (teleporting) were all nice to hear and goes well with the genre of sci-fi.

Character: 7/10
The characters were plain but they were all likeable to a certain extent. You could not really put hate on any characters as they had no purpose in the story other than to support the main cause and all the main characters were the protagonists, there were no antagonists in the cast of main characters. It was more of a character vs self (beginning) and character vs society (middle to end). Characters I liked were pretty much all of them, even the humanoids (Mika and Rika) as they had some pretty interesting development but overall I would say I would feel neutral due to events that happened in the movie.

Enjoyment: 7/10
I did enjoy the movie as the concepts of the story in the sci-fi genre were indeed interesting to me (as a fan of sci-fi). The reasons why I would give it a 7 will be stated in things to improve on.

This anime deserves a solid 7 (I might be a bit generous but it is different for everyone) as the story concepts were interesting and everything else mentioned was a 7. My favourite character would probably be Mika as it was pretty cool in fights and how it protected the main characters. (Notice I used “it”). Hope I don’t get tagged for violating AI rights lmao.

Things for the anime to work on:
Time for the cons, heheh, this is probably what you were here to read anyways for those who watched the movie already or for those who hadn’t watched the movie and came to the review section first to see if it is any good to watch. Fear not, the movie is watchable on the behalf of my witnessing of the movie. You may be wondering why this movie gotten such low ratings and I am here to give a brief review of what I think were the problems.

Story:
The story had many inconsistencies and missing details that evidently led to many plot holes leaving the watcher to have thoughts and questions after the movie has ended. Movies should not leave watchers having questions circulating in their heads and should leave a nice concise ending or an intended open ending which in this case it was really not. If you are a person who gets easily lost from missing details and unexplained events I would suggest you to not watch it, but if you want to for the sake of the story and ideas from it, I suggest you to give it a chance and watch. As I gave it a solid 7, it doesn’t mean I thought it was super good but it was based off how I enjoyed it. With the story having a lot of missing details, it ultimately led to why this anime was rated pretty low. I will not provide examples as to not spoil the story for those that haven’t seen it already.

Characters and Plot:
Really the only thing that bothered me was how this anime was marked as romance when there literally was little to no romance in the movie. Sure the male protagonist and the main heroine have feelings for each other due to knowing each other for a long time but it provides little relevancy to the storyline and plot. The plot as I mentioned previously has a lot of missing details and inconsistencies that made the characters do the actions they did that do not align properly with the “specific” goal the storyline was aiming at. If you watched it, you will know what I mean. (The fate of Izumi Kotori). The humanoid girls which she created got more development and possibly screen time than Kotori herself which really is a problem when you got side characters (ironically in this one was created by the main character herself) overshadowing and taking over the main story line. This problem in trying to incorporate romance into this sci-fi world made it so that there would be inconsistencies in the story and leading towards how badly rated it got.

This had one interesting idea, but the movie's execution left me cold on just about every level. The plot stumbles from one messy development to the next, growing increasingly incoherent and picking up worn-out genre tropes as it hurtles downhill. The kernel of what could have been an interesting story ultimately ditches its strongest conflict halfway, and then contents itself with super-powered shonen fight scenes for the rest of its runtime. The director's attempts to inject pace and drama into the proceedings are continually undone by CG characters that unintentionally feel as lifeless as the intentionally uncanny cyborgs from Ghost in the Shell. Individual elements ... of the production (voice acting, music, direction) seem okay in isolation, but nothing gels, resulting in a weirdly detached experience that feels like a hollow imitation of a movie, a calculated average like something made by an AI.

The story was very confusing in the beggining but I liked the plot. 2 Japan's and if someone dies in 1 of them both of the people die. I like how Shins friend is himself from the other Japan. I dislike how that girl was brought back to life tho. The CGI was ehh idk is I even CGI? I think its 3d. Either way first 3d anime I've seen:D story seems cool, but I just didint like it much, and I'm tired. I skipped a lot of this anime because I just didint enjoy it much. I skipped from the halfway point to the ... end a bit. Overall I didint really care much for this CGI movie. This was the first CGI movie I've seen^-^/
