Ken En Ken: Aoki Kagayaki

Is it just me or am I the 2nd one to make a review of this Chinese Themed anime, cu'z it seems that this anime was totally ignored as if a lotta guys sees this as if it ain't anime if there is no Japanese in it, like the quintessential katana, fan service and kimono in it??????Oh well, I guess they just can't accept such anime that has a lotta anachronism cu'z the setting was that in what can be called a warring states period of China were such mechs called Zhengtian should not exist , coupled with people that have super powers. so I ... guess having people with super powers with some mechs on the sides basically complicates this anime , but then again some games should just remain as games than being given an anime adaptation, now don't ask me why, since I haven't have the foggiest , all I know that this isn't a sough after anime. so without further adieu, here is how I see this anime:

Story-Good 7: It was poor due to the setting , anachronism, and the fact that it center around the relationship with a guy name Zhao with his girls namely Ning, Yin and Cheng and the lives they lived after Zhao , Ning and Yin got separated during the Taiban's army assault in their village as they straggle to survive in a world where wars and misery were constant to one must take advantage every opportunity that arrives and that what exactly what happen to Ning and Yin when they join the rebels they enjoy having a roof over their heads and Zhao was able to enjoy power and luxury when he was saved by Cheng whom at first he has no idea who she is. From their things turns around when Ning and Zhao goes back to the same shit they endured in the hands of Cheng. Good as it maybe, it just ended in a cliff hanger.

Art-fair 6: Since there isn't any fanservices for any wolves to howl for, and the fashion was in tune for the setting.

Sound-fair 6: the rating was for Yin's seiyuu Mizuki Nana who was just too old to voice a young girls voice and Ning seiyuu Kugimiya Rie who still uses her signature childish voice that seemly hasn't change with age, but Yun'z voice Noto Mamiko was also too old to voice a young girls tone.

Character- Very Good 8: Ok, so in most case we see the harem get into some petty quarrel over a guy, but , here the quarrel over a guy was intense where we see Ning duke out with Yin over Zhao and Cheng being this bitch who falls for Zhao who is in love with Yin, where Cheng becomes this jealous yandere towards Zhao and Ning that she throw both of them back to the same shit that they came from only to take them back to be her playthings.......now this category is very good, cu'z Zhao ends up with Ning in the end.

Enjoyment- Good 7: Since the trill of what Zhao plans to do after he realizes too late as how much of a spoiled brat was Cheng that we the audience wish that she gets to have a taste of the same kind of shit that Zhao experiences when he was about to be executed, but it didn't happen.

Overall- Good 7: It maybe a good anime, but IMAO this should have just been left as a game than being given an anime adaptation.

This anime is pretty much the definition of mediocre. It's not bad, but it really fails to capitalize on the rich setting and world they build. Characters are often introduced and just sort of exist without much development or interpersonal interaction. The way violence is used very casually lends so much potential to the show, but in the end they seem more interested in using that violence as a shock factor than to use it for character development.

That said there are some good things going for it. Their inability to put character depth beyond the main three characters actually works in ... the case of the automaton, which in so many other anime would have a developed personality but which was in this show pleasantly flat and tool-like. The willingness of the animators to use real-life landscapes from China really adds a level of overall beauty to the show. And despite the mini-harem nature of the relationship between the main characters, the women aren't represented in a particularly weak or vulnerable fashion.

It's kind of aggravating because there were some characters I genuinely liked, but I feel like their motivations and feelings were really just incidental, and that their destiny had been written by the authors despite their personalities. By episode 4 I was really excited to see the developmental arc of the little sister, but two episodes later I'm facepalming as the authors immolate any possibility of her arc being enjoyable.

You should watch this anime if you have a soft spot for Chinese culture and history, if you like action anime and don't mind transformation scenes, or if you want to watch people be slaves to romance in the middle of wars killing thousands.

I don't usually write reviews, but since nobody has reviewed this show yet, I only thought it fair at least one person review it.

This show has some good things going for it and some bad things going for it, but in the end, it's primarily about getting you to like the characters, then making you watch those characters suffer. Personally, I enjoy the cathartic process of characters making mistakes, suffering, overcoming their problems, and becoming better. If you don't enjoy this, you won't enjoy this show.

There are certainly a few downsides to this show. They overuse the CG a bit in combat, which is never ... ideal. The plot hinges a bit too much on coincidences. Some of the characters are a bit flat--in fact, I might go so far as to say Cheng is the only character that's really compelling.

Despite all of these problems, I find myself greatly enjoying this show.

Overall I give it 7/10.
If your bored and sifting through anime you missed in fall 2018 I would recommend watching this Drunk.

Every aspect is 7/10 its really just an "OK" anime

Story 7: the story is fairly unique and sparked my interest to keep watching.
... I would be interested to see more episodes in the future even though there probably wont be. They didn't end the series on a cliff hanger, but there are unanswered questions.

Animation 7: the animation looks fair and the fighting sequences I`d say are
actually pretty under-rated. My only complaint is the CGI looks pretty cheezy.

Soundtrack 8: The sounds were put together well, and the music was surprisingly entertaining.

Characters 7: This is the only thing I would say is lacking in the series. The main characters don`t have any problems, but Some of the supporting characters motives don`t make any sense or have any back ground to why they would make their choices.

Surely you've seen some anime and just thought "Wow, this is bad! Possibly even the worst anime there is-" No.
But this one could be in the top 15 worst anime series of all time by any possible measure.

To describe the anime briefly: "Random Bullshit Go". We have Avatar the Lord of Elements + some low-budget magic building with no lore, monsters with magic powers that dissolve into fairy dust as soon as they lose enough HP, war with some robot dolls (that later shoot lasers around), people in flying super armor with the most epic name ever "Dark Flames". Sailor ... Moon Weapon Summons. Medieval Gundam and yandere simulator all in one.


The pacing is slow. The scene changes are disastrous (especially in the first 2 episodes), you almost get the feeling the episodes were cut. Characters are contentless and tedious. The story is one-dimensional, monotonous, and boring. The ending is bad. Realization is bad.
And to top it off, this anime had some of the worst dialogue I've ever seen. They could almost come from the imagination of a 14-year-old trying to get into an RPG.

[Story 1]

Whoever wrote this possessed 2 good approaches. First, he tried to place the protagonists on two opposing sides. And second, he tried to use war as a tool for different perspectives and hypocritical actions of the characters. But the implementation of these ideas almost made me cry. It could have gone in the right direction.

[Characters 2]
"I hate you because you love me."
Is, by the way, a quote from the anime. Because the hallway is made out of hallway, the author had no choice but to improvise from this.

One-dimensional and empty. Villains are villains without any depth. All other side characters are NPCs. The 3 protagonists have almost no real dialogue. And all their character problems were so unrealistic and exaggerated, that no limits were set.

[Animation 2 / Music 5]

Poor CGI, only freeze-frame fights, hardly any detail (except in the throne room). And the frames were almost eye-popping. That you can make a jump attack out of 3 frames and sell this as animation is new to me.

Music was average, at least intro and osts.



[Conclusion 2]

I give at least one point for the fact that the ideas were there and some scenes may have been almost sub-par. But all in all, this is one of the worst anime I've seen so far. I can't recommend it to anyone and hope that no one else ever watches it either.

I'll keep this short: I really enjoyed the overall plot and the main conflict of the characters but neither is going to fix the issues this anime has.

The CGI was a poor choice, most of the side characters are underdeveloped, the dialogue is in large parts underwhelming and the elements of magic and engineering are used too superficially for my taste.

I profoundly enjoyed that the show doesn't really allow you to have a single emotion towards any of the four strongest developed characters, best shown in Ning, a character you'll dislike from the start to the very end for being a horrible ... person and you'll still feel profoundly horrified by the level of abuse she's put through.
