Supernatural summons and their ridiculously dressed owners have violent, campy battles with mysterious stakes.

It's also about gangsters with powers and a pretty good story, interesting and different powers and great characters although it focusses more on mysteries and situations rather then how to defeat the enemy the shows are still pretty similar and uses the "Villain of the week" trope.

Banana Fish and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind are both 2018 adaptations of manga franchises that started in the 1980's. Both has a serious main character that had has a hard childhood; and one event in that time make they have a firm purpose, that they are willing to give their lives to reach. Also, both starts working alone and finally joins to a very weird party of of 5/6 members. In addition, both animes are airing at the same time PD: Both have one piss scene that has become one of its characters into a living joke for the internet.

Mafias, drama, epic struggles, a cast of very diverse characters and the formula of autoconclusive mini stories (if not 1, 2 chapters) at the first half, to be more complex in the second (in black lagoon is the second seasond). In addition, they have a protagonist with little protagonism that joins a criminal organization, but is still a good person.

Since this season of jojo is about Gang-Stars and like that idea I really recommend Baccano with it's crazy characters and interesting story.
