This is a show about a main character who can communicate with spirits whose behavior is so far removed from humanity's understanding that even he struggles with it. Buuut they all think he's actually his ancestor, whom they loved. And he uses his exhausting abilities to the benefit of both races. <--- this description works for either anime. However, Natsume has more endearing characters who make more logical appearances.

Supernatural themes, with Japanese yokai and some other western myths as well. It's Shojo feeling and somewhat lighthearted and comedic.

Same premise where both storylines have many types of occult/supernatural beings and MC-- a unique being, is recruited to an office to deal with them.

Both Ghost Hunt and Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin deal with the supernatural and both follow a new recruit to the main team. While Ghost Hunt strictly focuses on ghosts and the spiritual, no Occult focuses more on cryptids and mythological creatures. Both main characters are new to their respective fields and must "learn on the job," often creating friction with the "old timers." Both leads can be portrayed as clueless at times, but often are then shown to have a valid view on situations.

Both are about The MC making friends with ayakashi, and growing into their power.

Both are of the occult theme (Robin uses the Witch as its only occult element, while Mayonaka have a variety of lore and supernatural beings) Both anime uses a darker colour tone to brings out their occult theme, which sets a good cozy mood Both story concepts are about "officials" solving cases related to the occult Both MC are essentially young and "pure", trying to learn the ropes of their working environment Both MC have "powers" that they are learning to work with Both shows are largely episodic with an overarching story (Mayonaka is a relatively new story, and imo, the overarching story is still building up and will be  read more

Both involves the MC solving an issue caused by supernatural beings Both the MC works in a way that tries to bring about more understanding to "why and what" is causing the issue Mayonaka is largely episodic with an over-arching plot building up, while Mononoke is a collection of 3 stories Both anime have their very own distinct art style, and both are very pleasing to the eyes (at least to mine, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder after all) Both have comedic and lighthearted moments intertwined with the heavier, darker storylines, yet does not discount the climaxes. Mayonaka is set in modern time, while Mononoke stories are  read more

Both: - are pretty to look at (art style is decent and unique) - have a pure hearted male MC who is no drama and straight forward - are occult related (supernaturals here and there) - MC, and story POV are on the side of the living humans who are also official government factions - World logic acknowledges the existent of supernaturals among the communities involved. So not like only MC have to deal with it while no one else knows his/her woes. - MCs are in the position to affect the lives of the supernaturals - Interesting characters (distinct) - Similar paced, closer to Slice of Life than that of typical shounen  read more

Both stories revolve around some sort of folklore/legend/myths/supernatural beings. Both are lighthearted while the events going on in the plot are heavier and darker. Both have the same concept with regard to how the supernatural beings operate: unpredictable by human logic Both have the slice of life vibe to them amidst the drama that is happening (but Mayonaka is a notch more serious than Uchouten) If you enjoy knowing and watching how various myths and lore are being portrayed differently through different artists, then you can give the other a shot. Mayonaka is essentially portraying the supernatural world from the view of a human While Uchouten is a very unique show  read more

Both are supernatural/occult Both MC have special ability that brings them closer to the supernatural world Both MC have a friend/side kick from the supernatural world Both shows feature similar categories of demons and supernatural beings, though they are put in different spotlights Both story-telling style are generally episodic (But Mayonaka is a rather new story, and gives off the vibes that the over-arching plot is interesting, but since there is only 1 season so far, nothing much can be established. While Tactics did manage to tie up most of its storylines in the anime itself.) Mayonaka is in current times, while Tactics is set in the past. Mayonaka has slightly  read more

The same plot where it involves a guy joining a group of specialist that deals with the supernatural.

Both shows are about the occult that exist in the real life and a few people are in the know about it. Both male MCs dont seem to know about this but are thrust into it nevertheless.

Both have to do with supernatural beings where MC has to get used to the new environment and are immediately known to all supernaturals due to their ancestry. Both animes have the same low priority, but interesting plot vibe to it.

>Mysterious creatures coexisting with humans, causing problems >Humans trying to solve problem >trying to understand mysterious creature, sympathise with them If you like fantasy, supernatural that involve strange creatures then Mushishi is very similar to this one. Though Anothers are human-like and Mushis are totally not.
