Long story short, this season is only a build-up to something bigger, a calm before the storm I'd say. They're preparing for the next season's challenge round. Yes, literally "next season" (I really do hope they make another sequel). But at the same time, I think there's a high chance they're going to make a sequel.

The thing I like the most in this anime as a whole, including the previous installments, is really the characters. I like the consistency of the character writing from the very start to the current. I rewatched the movie, 1st season, and the sequel read more

The King’s Avatar is a story where the protagonist never loses. Well, ostensibly so.

The shows first season raises the curtains with Ye Xui losing his character and placement within his pro team, ostensibly forcing him to start over Glory with nothing other than the skills he has accumulated over a decade (which as far as gaming is concerned, might as well be a millennium). Worse overall quality and excitement, but setup for next season.

A few big complaints being

-First few episodes are super meh.

-Animation is a big drop from season 1

-Main cast other than Ye Qiu from season 1 could literally be replaced by any other character and it wouldnt change a thing.

*If you want to watch this, but dont feel the urge to watch it asap I would just wait till a month or so before season 3 and watch it then. That way the setup wouldnt feel as flat, and this season could just reignite any remaining excitement from season 1 and prep you for season 3 where read more
