This review will be updated as I watch more episodes. If you are on the fence or not planning to watch this because of your bad experiences with shojo/romance/otome genres, then please stick around for this review. :)
As of now, I didn't expect this anime to be this way at all. Having seen a few of the more popular 'otome' anime (including Amnesia, Kamigami no Asobi, Diabolik Lovers, etc.) and a ton of reverse harem (including Kiss Him Not Me, Ouran High School Host Club, Special A, etc.) and playing many otome games myself (not even gonna elaborate on that one), I

This is a review of the anime only. I have not read the manga.
For an otome adaptation, this one wasn't half bad. At least I didn't loathe the female lead. A little more romance would have been nice but I prefer the lack thereof to the forced romance in many otome. What I liked about it: 1. The female lead was strong in her own right and not whiny and annoying. 2. The male characters were believable and funny. 3. The story was intriguing if shallow. ... Jul 29, 2018
Phantom in the Twilight is the more mature and gay version of Tokyo Kushu (or Tokyo Ghoul like some non-weebs call it), except this is about "shadows", and everyone seems to hate it.
Our story start off in a smoky jazz cafe (without the smoke). This place apparently works as the headquarter for our characters and also works as a meridian between humans and shadows. Everyone who has seen Tokyo Kushu, will about now think this sounds pretty familiar. Our cast consists of a bunch of people from Kaneki Ken with red dot in the hair to the male maiden version of Rabbit Touka. The ... Sep 27, 2018
Limited spoilers review!
This review was written after seeing all episodes. At first glance, “Phantom in the Twilight” appears to be a reverse harem in the style of many otome-based anime from the past so many years, but it doesn’t quite fit the bill. The series itself doesn’t seem to know what it’s supposed to be and throughout its short twelve-episode life suffers multiple times from an identity crisis. One episode it seems to be following in the footsteps of otome-based series, the next it’s turned to head down the path of one-episode arcs with an overarching theme to tie the episodes together, and yet another ... i will update this review as i watch more episodes...
To begin with the anime does not have much potential the first 2 episodes were not on the mark but it gets good with episode 3.... i am sure they will improve it and i hope it will not disappoint us..... The plot seems pretty normal we can hope it will get better but i cant say much right now it but hopefully it has variety of good characters and the story line can be twisted and can have plot twists it always does with story line like these It starts with two beautiful girls visiting London ... Please note this review is intended to be read by those that have finished watching Phantom In the Twilight and while care has been taken to minimize story related spoilers there may still be spoilers within character analysis. You have been warned.
Based off an original piece of work Phantom in the Twilight is a fantasy and action anime that gives us the opportunity to see what will happen if a pair of transfer students that are freshly arrived from their homeland in the bursting metropolis that is London find that far from being just a city of tiny café’s and rich medieval history ... I have never written a review before so bear with me if this won't be good, but this was such a pain to watch. You can watch this If you want, but I don't recommend.
I watched a lot of reverse harem but this one is one of the worst First of all the anime seemed promising at first, but turned into a huge disappointment for me: -lack of character development -too much unnecessary dramatizing - Not much and awful romance ... Sep 24, 2018
It's easy to dismiss the otome and reverse harem genre troupes that Phantom In The Twilight has, but since it's an original series that's made to promote Chinese game developer Happy Elements's (which brought us Spring 2018's Last Period, which was a fun time) latest smartphone game, the similarities could not be stark contrasted until the series started fleshing out itself, with the final product being a completely different stand-alone media, all on its own.
Handled by Fumiaki Maruto (Saekano, Classroom Crisis) and Shunsaku Yano for the overall series composition, Phantom In The Twilight tells us the tale of two friends: Baileu Ton and Mu Shinyao, ... Sep 8, 2018
I'm a big fan of reverse harem, but this anime disappoints in every aspect.
conclusion: One of the worse reverse harem\whatever this is called. I feel like it was a huge waste of my time. *mediocre drawing *characters background is lacking * no real story development - episodes repeat themselves ... Jun 12, 2020
Although I wish to give Phantom in the Twilight credit for giving the main character a remarkably different personality and agency compared to any other reverse-harem type anime that's come out in the few recent years, it really is lacking essentially in the story and character building departments, which is why it can't be anything but a 7 at most.
The main characters Ton and Sinyao are Chinese and going to university, which from a veteran reverse-harem watcher's viewpoint is already a big difference and affects the narrative. The men are pretty archetypal; a tsundere vampire, a rowdy werewolf, a MC-adoring shota... Even though they ... |
