The human race extended its life field and greed to the vast reaches of space... In Space Era 0156, a war breaks out amidst all of the colonies in space. Earth begins to construct a new space battleship called Tiramisu in secret. Just as the war begins, one genius pilot steers the Tiramisu as a beacon of hope for humanity.
If you're hoping for a certain "Uchuu Senkan" Yamato...clearly know that this short-form isn't what you're in for...
One person: Subaru Ichinose
One mech: Durandal
One purpose: Be the new hope-in-humanity-restored beacon of light.
WHY? For his sole purpose of treasuring his life in space...not onboard the spaceship Tiramisu (which if you don't know why this show is titled that way), but in his mech, EVERYTHING is done there in the comfort of his own "living room".
And yes it's a short, what do you expect? To just see Subaru Ichinose with the numerous gags and foodie-licious life? Yeap, that's all I need.
I was never big into mobile suits, but didn't quite understand why. Upon watching Uchuu Senkan Tiramisu, I found the answer. They lack in aesthetics. Our main character decorated his with pink, heart-shaped goods and fluffy animals. For the first time ever, I have met a person who truly values his mecha and has made it personal. A real human beem. "This is my cockpit, there are many like it, but this one is mine." This is basically Forest Gump the anime. I can identify with.
Uchuu Senkan Tiramisu is an interesting comedy series which brings quite a few witty remarks and original topics on the
table. These focus around such things as flaws and the generic nature of space operas and mecha anime. Parodying things like G-powers and the challenges of actually eating and drinking in zero gravity. The comedy is definitely well-thought and remind me of 'Thermae Romae', the world famous, award-winning manga series which also had similarly obscure ideas about bath houses. This time they are of course about space.
The episodes are only 7 minutes long. One can tell based to episode 1 if they will like this series or not, so I recommend anyone who is even mildly interested to give this a go.
This was a show that was stupid, but soooo appealing. I switched it to dub and it is so funny. Watching it with friends made for a big laugh fest for us all. I'd recommend watching in dub just for the commentary. The voice actors make the show much more funnier. I forget it's only 7 minutes so it doesn't take much to just throw it on real quick. The show is made up of short gags and this leads to funny outcomes. I don't watch this show for a good story. I see this as just a quick laugh and onto another show.
In these opening weeks of the Spring 2018 anime season, Steins;Gate 0 starts off as the by far highest rated anime, although Megalo Box is the new heavy hitter if we look past sequels. This and more in the opening edition of The Seasonal Quarterly.
