Over the course of my anime watching pastime, I was fortunate enough to have been acquainted with anime that were high in both rating and quality and this never experienced a time when I watched an “underrated” anime, one which was a great anime but it's rating didn't justify it at all, or an anime that was not popular and deserved more attention, life isn't always fair, and as such, Hakyuu Houshin Engi was sadly caught under the web of both these unfortunate situations mainly because of the manga purists

Hakyu Houshin Engi is every generic fighting tournament shonen anime in a nutshell. It hasn't even masked itself to look like something else. It simply does not care, and frankly neither do I.

Most viewers will not like this anime for two simple reasons: It's not very good and most of all, not very enjoyable either. It walks the path of mediocrity without even trying to be anything. The outcome is very bland and a total lackluster.

This adaptation did surprisingly many questionable choices. First and foremost is the lack of introduction. Viewers are quite directly thrown into a random world around random characters. Nothing read more

Soul Hunter was one of my earliest anime. It captivated my attention and enthusiasm during my childhood. I watched it back in the 2007 broadcast. My former English teacher used to ask me, “who was your favorite hero?” My mind immediately played flash backs of Soul Hunter. So I replied “Taikobou. ”His original name “Bou” meant hope in Japanese. The blossoming hope, dreams, aspirations, and reassurance that kids have for their childhood heroes,

Hakyuu Houshin Engi is the remake of Senkaiden Houshin Engi. As a long time enthusiast, I picked up the remake with trembling excitement. I still remember the catchy theme songs, read more

Preliminary
I love the Houshin Engi manga, so when I saw it was going to receive another anime, I was hopeful this one would cover the whole story and do a decent job on its adaptation. Sadly, I was wrong. The first episode already shows, for the worse, big differences between the two. The story is badly told, you can't understand much if you don't know it already. It also doesn't cover all the facts you should know and rushes in a way you feel dizzy from watching.
I still recommend the manga, but this anime shouldn't exist.
Ah, the opening song is good, at least.
