Nearly half the population of Sakurada, a small town near the Pacific Ocean, has some sort of unique power. These powers range from being able to enter the mind of a cat, to resetting the world back to a certain point in time in the past. There is a group known as the "Kanrikyoku" that controls and monitors the use of these powers. Asai Kei and Haruki Misora work for their school's club called "Houshi" club, which execute any missions received from the Kanrikyoku. Misora has the ability to reset the world back 3 days. This means that all events and any memory of the past 3 days that "could have" happened, never happened. Kei has the ability to "remember" the past. Even after Misora uses her powers to reset the world back 3 days, Kei will retain those 3 days in his memory. Combining their powers, these two solve missions issued by the Kanrikyoku.
At first glance this series seems to be some sort of hybrid between Monogatari series and Charlotte. Yup I have no doubt, this is definitely really similar with Charlotte.. I mean, super power, time leap... Also Charlotte is a lot easier to understand. LOL
Anyways, Man, this anime is heavy. And it's so far turning into detective case. This anime is so hard to understand but i don't know why i find it really really interesting. This one is different, but in a good way and it's really worth watching.
I just think that the problem why this
anime is underrated is like they rely heavily on the dialogue and character interactions. Compare to shows like Monogatari and Charlotte, this show's dialogue is really, just plain and boring.
The pros, is the plot speed by too fast. Personally for me I hate slow paced anime. I love the potential this anime has! It's giving me mystery feels. There area a lot of mind games, detective work, unique story with twist, gradual character development and philosophical ideas.
Still hoping for more!
PS: Kei is so freaking smart he also definitely a good strategist and motivator.. The way he handle all the cases since episode 1. Damn I like this MC so so much.
Every season has its crop of shows that just simply aren't up to snuff, and Spring 2017 is no different. Sakurada Reset, however, manages to blow all the other bad shows out of the water with just how awful it is. It attempts to lure you in with a fairly interesting gimmick about time travel and super powers, but once you actually start watching it's all downhill from there.
Episode 1: Right away you can tell that something is wrong with this show. For one, the characters do not feel like actual people. You can count the amount of time that the MC blinks on a
single hand, and all camera shots are static without any feeling or depth to them. The way the characters robotically say their lines as if reading off of a script provides no entertainment for the viewer. The episode drags on endlessly due to its slow pacing and massive amounts of just dialogue. However, the first episode is just the tip of the iceberg.
Episode 2: Reset was fairly mediocre during its first episode, with the concept of different abilities carrying the show quite heavily. But even an interesting concept can't carry the show through the absolute garbage it's about to slog through. The previous problems of the first episode only intensify, and often there are moments where absolutely nothing happens and the two characters are just staring at each other in silence. Two new characters are brought in whose powers are extremely plot convenient and lazy. Logic that no human would ever think of is used to solve the episode's problems, all while the main characters stare blankly into space with no hint of emotion. The convoluted plot progression is extremely hard to follow and makes for a confusing watch. Not to mention that the episode is horribly paced and drags on like the previous episode.
Does Reset have the potential to pick itself back up? Honestly at this point it's extremely hard to tell. Even as someone who has begrudgingly followed the show for the past four weeks, I still don't know what exactly this show is and what it wants to do.
At some points you will start laughing not because of what's happening in the show, but rather the absurdity of the character's decisions and the irregularity of the show's art and animation. As such, I'd only advise watching this show if you're extremely starved for a series about time-travel and/or you're a masochist who likes watching bad shows. If my thoughts on this show change in the coming weeks I'll come back and revise my opinion, but that possibility is extremely unlikely.
Episode 6 edit: Hasn't been as garbage as the first two episodes, but still has not improved enough to change my opinion.
Tbh I'm trying really hard to like this anime. Believe me I am. But it's so hard for me to like this anime when everything is all over the places. The story and plot is good but the way they are presenting it is really hard to understand. When I first read the synopsis I got really excited. But it hasn't lived up to the expectations.
But I have hope it's a 2 cour anime so maybe the story and everything will pick up. But as 5 episodes have currently aired (when I'm writing this review) I don't see sagrada reset worth watching. It's just an
anime that tries too hard to be complicated. The characters are weird and don't behave like real people. The story is messed up.
So should you watch it ? : I think putting it on a ptw list and then when it ends binge watching will be good if it gets a good score like 7.50-10.00.
Edit After watching 10 episodes : I think the last two episodes were pretty good. +1 overall rating after 10 episodes. Still I think it has more to offer. But the anime is starting to feel like it's going to keep getting better from now on let's hope it does that.
Edit after watching the 12th episode. Nope it's gone back to being lifeless again. The 11th episode was one the most boring and stupid episode of them all. Tbh I think if this doesn't get better anymore I'm dropping this.
Last Edit : Dropped after the 14th episode. I can't go on anymore. It's too hard to keep track of every single stuff that's happening. As you can tell I'm disappointed with this anime. I had high hopes and it let me down completely.
Final verdict : I don't recommend watching it.
After watching episode 8, I'll try to write my opinion about this anime.
At first, it looked promising. The premise is about a town full of people with unique abilities. Full of potential here. But it gets boring fast. It is focused on dialogues with serious tone. The characters literally keep their poker face all the time. The art is poor. There's barely any positive point from this anime.
The plot is quite complicated. It takes a while to understand the plot. But if you really think about it, the whole plot is totally IMPLAUSIBLE. The way characters are thinking, how the main character figures things
out, how everything works out in the end, none of those makes much sense.
Kei is one hell of a protagonist. He's extremely smart. Way too smart he even knows everything about his opponents which his opponents themselves don't know. He can make plans from A to Z without mistakes, he can also predict every stupid moves made by his opponents. It is so ridiculous.
I'll keep watching this, though. I think my opinion will change.. or maybe not.
