My final rating for this series is 7.5, but after a lot of thinking I decided to round it up to 8. I didn't expect to like IDOLiSH7 as much as I did!

For an anime about idols, this one focuses more on certain characters rather than the idol plot. Of course, there was some more spotlight on, for example, Riku and Soga, but I found all of the boys quite likeable (especially Nagi. He's great.). I am not particularly attached to any of them but hell, it's a good series. The team experiences a lot of ups and downs throughout, as well as their own ... personal drama, which keeps the show interesting.

My only complaints are that the rise to fame seemed too quick and the pacing was odd at the beginning. Some tropes are a bit cliché but in a good way. The 3D segments were clunky and awkward, but some of the shots were impressive (I felt like I was playing Enstars at some point).

Would I recommend this one? Yeah! Will I watch the second season? Yup. I heard it has better rantings than this one which is a good sign. I won't rush to get it done, but I'll gladly enjoy watching some more.

Idolish7 is peak idol anime experience - it's good, cheesy, heartwarming fun with goofy moments and some original characters. The performances and CGI are pretty bad but the lack of sexism is incredibly refreshing (no harem tropes, objectification or insultingly stupid characters and plot points, just a bunch of enthusiastic idiots who act about as rationally as any teenage male I've known). Of course there's plot point breathing disease, which is contractually obligated to not be asthma and treated as a cancer level threat for some reason, but it's not really important besides one episode. Aside from that, the truly original quirks and the memes ... the artists snuck in are legitimately funny, the heartwarming moments are really cute, and I would watch another season if it came out. Or spinoff in this case - since somehow that joke about the terrorist got a miniseries on youtube. Go figure.

My first idol anime watched after a recommendation by a friend, if this is your first time venturing into the wonderous world of idol anime watch this first! You will not be disappointed!

The first episode itself already caught my undivided attention with its premise, interesting characters. As the season goes on, the development is fantastic not just in terms of its story but each character as they go through their ups and downs in the idol world. However, they ain't alone. They are a team!

Each character is great as they develop and grow and together in a team they make Idolish7 unstoppable. Moreover, it's ... believable. Nothing is ever as simple, everyone has their own reason for doing certain acts, acting certain ways and more. It shows life is complicated just like the idol world.

One of the key things that definitely stood out was Riku for sure. I was proud of how he persevered to become an idol and help make the fans smile, of course his road certainly isn't without its difficulties. What impressed me was that his manager and team all stood by him and made changes to ensure he could adapt (I'm not gonna spoil it here what is it, you have to watch it yourself!)

It goes to show everyone in life deserves a chance to succeed, to be happy and more. Just because we are different doesn't make it bad nor is it an excuse for us not to be happy. We always need to give chances, everyone can shine in the end! Simple as that! This applies whether you are in school, working life and more!

I could not stop listening to the music in the anime, whether it was from Idolish7 or Trigger. The animation was spot on and well developed, humor was great as well! The interactions, the funniness all contribute to the enjoyment and humor. Word of advice: Never ever make Sogo upset, you will regret it (best funny part I definitely remembered from the season XD)

Overall, do yourself a favor and go watch Idolish7 now!

Idolish7 where do I begin with this anime overall. Through the first watch of both seasons one and two I found myself thoroughly enjoying the anime. Now, I must say that I am a person who if you recommended an Idol anime to, I would have been saying a few choice words about yourself. I was one to scoff at Idol animes, but I decided to evolve as an anime fan.

After watching all of Wake Up Girls, Bang Dream(Argonavis included), D4DJ, Idoly Pride, Oshi ga Budokan(to a lesser extent), and Idolish7 as a whole. I have to say Idolish7 really stood out to me ... the most. It felt like a nice starting from the bottom anime to a rise of a group that put in the effort. Everything left you on the edge of your seat or bed, when you can watch it from start to finish. The characters feel developed, and this is from a person who has not any other male themed idol animes.

This is one of those animes that remind you why you consume this medium. It certainly doesn't have the best animation quality, sometimes using CGI that's a bit regrettable, but this series knows how to convey happiness and uplift its audience. There's a lot of drama, and it can feel like a soap opera with so many conflicts, but that very aspect, which could be seen as a negative, keeps you hooked and eager to see what happens next. The characters, who initially may seem quite cliché or annoying, quickly win your heart, just like the group TRIGGER, which I find excellent.
I also have to ... mention that having many characters with questionable backstories in terms of writing and drama is something that lowers the argumentative level. However, in general, you can see love behind this anime.

As for the songs, there are some that, to be honest, are not at all memorable and are very common in this medium. However, songs like 'Shaking Your Beat' or most of TRIGGER's are genuinely excellent, and you end up singing along.

If you don't mind a plot that isn't super well-structured and just want to enjoy something simple but fun, then this anime is for you.

IDOLiSH7 An anime that catches you from the first chapter but before starting keep this in mind.

It may be that my review is based on experience playing (not this one in particular) if not on visual novels made by fans as well as some anime of this style.

The story basically follows the life of a group of boys who want to be idols but with the great difference that each character has their problems and as each chapter progresses you go deeper and deeper into the lives of these boys.

Now this anime as I said from the first chapter catches you since it does not ... start with the typical group with talent and they are the center of attention (practically they are God) as it is not a reverse harem as seen in the vast majority of this type of anime where the boys love the girl and the world revolves around her and the strongest point is that there is no fan service or at least it is moderate.

It has its defects but they are not very noticeable (from a certain point of view) the first is that it is very predictable the second is that they did not give much importance to the moment of wanting to develop the sub stories you only know that someone has a problem but nothing more .

In general, if you are not a fan of this type of anime or want to see something different, I assure you that you will like it or at least it will entertain you and if you are a fan of idol groups, then seeing another anime of this style would not fall for you. wrong.

I struggle watching every episode. I started watching and continue watching because a friend of mine recommended it to me and I want to give the benefit that maybe it will get better. The characters seem lackluster from their designs to their personalities. The songs the main group sing all sound pretty much the same making it difficult to want to cheer for their success. I understand that idols typically stick to one theme to really cater to one demographic in building a fan base but, none of the songs are unique. They dances they do also do nothing to aid in the entertainment during ... the concerts. It might just be that you really had to play the game in order to have that background information before starting the anime so that you could take it in better but, the events do seem to go by quickly with no real problems or solutions seeming to take longer than maybe a minute per episode. I'll continue watching to see if there is improvement but, so far it all is boring to the point I barely even manage an episode a day.

I love this show a lot! When I first started it, I had no idea how I'd like it because I don't really watch idol shows (apart from watching Zombieland Saga) but I'm so glad I picked it up! Let me just tell you the animation, music, character design and characters personalities will pull you in to this show!

I love all the boys in idolish7, it genuinely feels like I'm watching an idol group climb their way to the top! I love how the boys have to actually gain fans and popularity by doing side jobs to put their name out there, and open for ... other artists - it makes the show feel real. It would have been a little unrealistic if they started out super famous and popular, so I'm glad this show thoroughly takes you through idolish7's journey. I also love how there are other acts in the show, even their rival Trigger is a good addition to create drama and show how the music industry can be. My favorite boys are Sogo, Tenn and Iori, but I love the other characters just as much. The show does a great job blending all their personalities, so there isn't an out of place guy in the group. I even like their manager, the president, and the president's assistant.

This show is funny, heartwarming, and if you love music and idols this will be for you. The characters are attractive too. It gives you just the right amount of drama, it also provides small amounts of fan service (but not in a way that is tasteless) and it can be really funny at times. I recommended this show to anyone who likes idols or boybands because you will fall in love with all the boys and actually want to follow their journey to stardom.

I adore Idol anime but not going to lie, a lot have problems that aren't so grand? Not to mention a lot don't get so deep into the characters that you are practically weeping for them. The drama, plot and story start out so simple but with real insecurities, fears, fights, strife and turmoil that makes you want more.

I truly wish more idol anime would go this route or even slice of life, not just having one or two episodes about a problem then it resolves quickly.

I apparently haven't typed enough...a factor that other might ... not like about this is based on a game and the actual group are actually Idol with music videos so it's fairly obvious that major things like the group disbanding wouldn't happened but honestly, it still could! This anime has shocked me and I've watch madoka magica.

as a person who's evading idol related anime, i am really glad that i give this anime a chance. at first i tried watching this anime 1-2 years ago, i watched episode 1 and then i dropped the anime cause i feel like it's quite boring. and then this year i tried give this anime a chance, it suddenly turns to be my favourite anime, i got hooked at episode 4 and binge watch all 3 seasons. now i'm promoting this anime on tiktok so more people will watch this show. this anime is too underrated. it is not like typical idol related anime.

My review is from the 3 first episodes until I dropped this show.

It was a mediocre experience. I admit that the character have potential but what was done in the first 3 episodes? Nothing, I almost know nothing about them, they don't really interact with each other or if they do it feels like staged.

I see no training, I see no group dynamics, everyone is nice. And its slow and boring. I know shows they would have fit these 3 episodes in one and would have added even more. Its just boring
Why should I watch this? What is the special thing of this ... show. There are other much better shows (ok I don't know other male idol shows).

The animation is almost non existing, except for the CGI shows until ep3 which are really nice.
There is no love in the directing, its always front shoot, side shoot or group shoot. Where is the dynamic? A good example is that this 3 episodes would have been perfectly fine fully CGI. There was nothing creative in animation it was all natural poses (except for some chibi shoots which were also the most fun parts of the show) or still frames of them sitting and standing around.

Except for the OP! Was this a different director? Suddenly we have nice animation, shoots from different angles, dynamic, fast cuts, facial expression. They should have let him direct the show.

In this anime there isn't a story at all, some things go on and thats it. There are idol groups and their 10 year old girl fans. Idols sing and the kids cheer and nothing more goes on in my opinion. But did I watch every season of it? Yes. Because even thoguh this show is written poorly, it is actually really fun to watch. I do not even like any of the IDLOSH7 members, they are not interesting at all, but again, as the show was giving joy to me, I kept watching this thing.
So, I would recommend this even though I find ... it objectively bad. The show being "fun" is more important than it being "good".
To summarize, this is one of the shows that being bad makes them good

First off, let me say that this kind of show isn’t really up my alley. I watched this based off of a personal recommendation and was expecting a 17 episode slog, but to my surprise, I actually found myself enjoying it at times (for better or worse).

It starts off pretty slow, following the standard idol anime beats while introducing a cast of standard shoujo pretty boys as idols. And, oh my god, do they ever put them to use. There is a LOT of shameless yaoi bait throughout this anime.

In my opinion, yaoi bait (as with any other form of fanservice) is acceptable if ... it feels organic within the story and not thrown in haphazardly, or worse yet, create plot lines FOR the fan service. At that point it feels like the creators are insulting my intelligence by assuming that I’m just some horn-dog lapping up any image of anime titties or two pretty boys touching each other.

The anime suffers from this problem, which leads to a whole host of issues:

1. It would take me out of the show because I don’t believe this behavior to be realistic, especially in a country like Japan.

2. As a result of this unrealistic behavior, I would view the already trope-esque characters as being even more artificial, causing myself to become uninvested in the emotional parts.

3. Thus actually became part of my enjoyment with the anime because I couldn’t believe how out-there and desparate it was to get its audience to ship their characters.

Fan service aside, I also had problems with how the manager character was written. She is supposed to be the audience insert character, but ends up being a much weak cinnamon roll with no definining character traits. She is constantly shown to be inept at actually managing the group by herself and even relies upon a high schooler in the group to make the big decisions surrounding the group.

In addition to this, the pacing of the anime is all over the place. I legitimately could not tell you how much time has passed between episodes. I assume by the end of the season a year has passed, but if not for the final couple of episodes, it could have been 3 years in the future for all i knew.

Idolish 7 isn’t all bad though, there are some plot twists that I didn’t think were going to happen and I genuinely enjoyed some of the interactions beteen the idols, especially in the middle of the season.

Also, the art was pretty solid (except the CGI performances of course) and the first song that the group sings has grown on me by the end of the season. The rest of the songs were either ok or bad and the music not in performances was often overbearing or out-of-place in scenes.

All in all, while Idolish 7 was still better than I was expecting, it was still plagued by some weak writing, shameless yaoi bait, and poor pacing. But, because it isn’t trying to be a deep drama, I could forgive some of these shortcomings and enjoy it more for what it is trying to be.

It’s a solid 4.
