Whether it be facing misogynistic remarks from her boss or being pressured by condescending co-workers, stress is just another part of the job for 25-year-old red panda Retsuko. Despite being one of the most diligent workers at her office, her diminutiveness and modesty often lead her to be exploited by her colleagues. However, when her irritation hits the limit, Retsuko brings forth her unique brand of letting off steam: aggressive death metal karaoke bashing the idiocy and hypocrisy of her co-workers' actions and work life. Although this venting only takes place in her mind, it gives her an outlet to counter her frustration in a world where hierarchy and appearances reign supreme.
Aggresive Retsuko manages to be hilarious with just a single minute per episode.
The story is simple, Retsuko has to deal with way too relatable stressful situations during her everyday life, and when she can't handle what happens in that episode anymore, she goes crazy and starts singing death metal music, the way it's done makes the series really fun because you totally emphatize with the protagonist and her reactions are just priceless.
The character designs are simple but charming, the music is mostly 2-3 songs and that's all which is fine considering its duration, and there is always Retsuko giving some lyrics in her rage attacks
If you have some minutes available and you're looking for a quick laugh, give a try to Aggresive Retsuko, it's totally worth it.
to be honest, this is probably one of the most enjoyable animes I've ever watched
I (and basically everyone lmao) have never felt relatable to a character then Retsuko, Retsuko is literally me when someone says something i don't like, does something i dont like, act a way i dont want them to or do something that i don't like,
there are 100 episodes and all of them are 1 minute which means that you can get this anime done in 1 hour and 40 minutes
the story is simple: Retsuko deals with stressful situations and goes to karaoke to start singing death metal music to help with her
all the characters are anthropomorphic animals, and all of thier designs are cute and match their personality very well
and the charaters do kinda feel like real people with how they act and all, Retsuko, of course, being the most relatable to everyone
that's, all i can really say
the story is good
the art is good
the sound is great you can really hear it
characters spot on
and i really enjoyed it
overall Aggressive Retsuko is an anime that you can watch when your bored, or have some time on your hands
Aggressive Retsuko manages to be very funny with just over 1 minute per episode.
Story (8/10): The story is very simple. It is about a red panda girl named Retsuko who has an office job. She deals with way too realistic and relatable
real world problems and when she can't take them anymore, she sings death metal and her reactions are priceless.
Art (8/10): The art is very good but nothing to die for.
Sound (8/10): The music while only being 2-3 songs, is fine considering the length of each and every episode.
Character (8/10): Retsuko is a great character and the side characters are
good as well.
Enjoyment (9/10): I enjoyed Aggressive Retsuko very much. It was very funny and had a different vibe that I don't really get from any other Anime that I have watched.
Overall (8/10): Agressive Retsuko is a very good show and I recommend it. It is great especially because you can watch all of it in a day. Highly Recommended.
I'm trying to recall the points I made 6 months ago. Note that many of the detailed story elements aren't too fresh to me given my vague memories of the show. I will, however, try the best I can to provide an unbiased critique, a personal account on how I view it.
I am ardently hyping for season 2. It is a pretty standard show that caught my attention due to the popularity of a few of its characters, especially Haida, who has since became quite a sensation in the furry fandom. Regardless of that fact, Aggretsuko doesn't exactly break boundaries. It's concept is interesting, but
to be fair every show starts off with a concept or else it wouldn't have been greenlit, so it's not that big of an achievement in itself. In this case, an ostensibly submissive and meek anthropopmorphisized red panda braves her toilsome working environment, hiding her true nature as a death rock karaoke enthusiast.
The majority of the show is pretty much cliched stuff, inspired by early 2000s office drama with supple much explored motifs. A handful of those include haggles with bosses, gossips with colleagues, experiments with relationships etc. They are mostly indulgent. I don't consider them anything beyond the value of superficial entertainment.
It doesn't mean there's nothing else to appreciate. Character species are well chosen in that they reflect each individual personality and trait. Humor is well strewn over the runtime and peaking every so often during the karaoke scenes. Haida, if I haven't mentioned it earlier, is indeed adorable; not just him but many other leads like Retsuko and Fenneko as well.
All in all, Aggretsuko is just another office drama with animal characters. You'll be quite glutted if you go in with low expectations and an appetite for colourful animal designs. If you are looking for sophisticated and impactful content, it is probably a pass for you.
