Mirai is a 13-year-old girl who lives in the human world. One day she witnesses a mysterious object fall from the sky into the park. Excitedly, she brings her stuffed bear Mofurun with her to see what it was. When she gets there she sees a girl named Riko flying on a broom. Riko is of the same age and from the magical world. Mirai has a lot of questions, and Riko explains that she's searching for a jewel with strong powers called "Link Stone Emerald."
Then Batti, an ally of the dark magic users Dokurokushi, appears before them and demands that Riko hand over the "Link Stone Emerald," which Riko herself had been looking for. To make things worse, Batti uses dark magic to create a monster known as a Yokubaru! Mirai and Riko join hands and with the magic words "Cure-up Rapapa!" they transform into the legendary Pretty Cure.
Story: Mirai a middle school girl who still carries her teddy bear accidentally finds a witch named Riko. A magical miracle happens when both of them hold their hands together as they wear same kind of linkle stone and there are 12 more which they must gather.
At first i got a feel of looking 'harry potter series 1" with only female students ( especially train station as converging point to magical world station, snail train etc). Introduction of Principal was good. For me the only character that was good in it is Maffurin ( the teddy bear) For about 20 episodes, the series was unpredictable
and creative. We wanted to see it what happens next with curiosity. There is so much adventure that can be feast to your eyes .
Art: Too good. Beautiful scenery is shown in the anime. For instance there were lot of flower garden, mythical pegasus and fairy world.
Sound: Perfect sound tracks.
But the most boring part is "transformation" scenes. It is unbearable to see a single transformation once in this kind of anime but here there are 2 levels of transformations which occupied lot of time in an episode. Villains are just dummy. There is stupidity in confusing the viewers by trying to introduce "dark magic" is different from mugic and mugic lead to dark magic concepts. It may have confused you here. But if you see the entire series.
Enjoyment: I enjoyed only the first 20 episodes ( later 6 episodes or so) as the next episodes seem to be dragging the series unnecessarily.
Overall: This shoujo anime is just for little kids to whom we want to teach the value of friendship. But for grown ups, when Mirai constantly says about Friendship in obsessive manner, it irritates. Her cries to see Riko at the End seemed unnatural and gave me the feeling of shoujo ai and awkward. I was not able to comprehend here longing for Riko alone when there is Haa-chan too. For me that spoiled my interest in the series.
Going into the Precure series was something i always wanted to do after Kiruminzoo, my opinion on Magical series went through the roof and i found out many other anime for little girls are pretty great too
I finally started following with Kira Kira A la mode since it was currently airing, boy what a mistake that was
If i hadn't watched this one immediatly afterwards i might have dropped the precure series entirely
The reason i put Mahoutsukai in my top ten favorite anime list is because this show was truly something new to me, the characters and their relations, the great pacing, the fact that they
mix silly fun episodes with the story it was so much fun
while watching it i always wondered everday 'What's gonna happen this episode? what form is gonna be used?', I haven't felt this feeling of childlike wonder ever since Pripara (granted that wasn't so long ago but well, y'know what i mean)
It's a really great start for anyone that wants to see what precure is like or atleast in my opinion, not every precure series is great or as enjoyable as others
but this is one of them
granted i'm a noob when it comes to precure so who knows maybe i'm wrong and it's actually not as great as the others ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But i would reccomend this show, watch it! watch it!
Note: I wrote a more in-depth review here- http://aminoapps.com/p/stlaa
MahouTsukai Precure is not particularly a deep or plot-centric anime. I guess it could be considered your typical magical girl series. However, that's not what I'm looking for in this series. I'm looking for a cute and enjoyable magical girl show, and I'd say this fits the bill. Some Precure fans dislike it because they say it doesn't live up to it's predecessor, and some do like it, but I can't judge it on that, as this is kind of my introduction to Precure and I can't say I'm disappointed. If you want a serious, deep
mahou shoujo, then I recommend Princess Tutu or PMMM, but if you're a magical girl fan who wants an anime to pass the time, I'd say MahouTsukai is for you.
