Anime adaptations of various gacha games, that is, basically mobile games of various genres (mostly musical or associated with moe anthropomorphism), where you play to earn points that can be spent on getting limited attractive characters (or cards with them) in a virtual analogue of a vending machine. Popularly, these anime are also often referred to as waifu or hasubendo bait shows due to the large number of attractive characters that the adaptation advertises to entice you to download the game.

Yuri with episodes that are shorter than standard anime length (standard anime have 22-25 minute episodes).

In general, anime with short episodes are a bit controversial. Since it is hard to tell a story in such a short amount of time, many people don’t like them.

Still… there is a market. Some comedies will benefit from having short episodes (because jokes can grow stale if dragged on for too long). There is also wanting to just shut off one’s brain and watch something that won’t take a lot of time.

I just realized there is a connection between several anime I enjoyed: Zombie Land Saga, Granblue Fantasy, and Princess Connect!: Re: Dive. They are all from Cygames. I usually don't pay much attention to the studios and producers behind the anime I like, but in this case, I thought the stories were entertaining and the animation was a cut above. The fights in Princess Connect were especially well done. And I really enjoyed the music in Zombie Land. I've heard good things about Akiba Maid War but I'm afraid I can't vouch for the rest.

This list contains anime that have not been categorized as Girls Love by MAL despite their source material being officially recognized as one or having authors confirming it is Yuri/Girls Love. This list also includes series without source material but with Girls Love content & series which has side yuri couples.

After going through most of the tagged GL anime on MAL on top of some extras, here’s a pretty big list of the currently existing yuri/shoujo ai anime out there as well as some featured lesbian couples. Some of the anime are way better than others (you’ve been warned)

not all the shows listed are explicitly about romance - or even about the wlw couple - they just have one in the show (or have heavily implied one since it used to be real hard to get a lesbian couple on screen).

inclusion in the list has nothing to do with perceived quality (i'll probably add some quick reviews in with some potential triggers, etc), but just the presence of girls (romantic) love.
