Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE! LOVE!

I really enjoyed watching this second season. This anime never fails to give me a smile or make me laugh so hard. The jokes are funny and I think that the jokes are better than the first season.

Story (6)
The story hasn't changed much. You get monsters which they have to defeat and of course they will defeat them. I really liked the last 2 episodes because they tell you more about the villains and are different from the last 2 episodes from season 1.

Art (9)
The colors are bright and make for a great atmosphere. I like how they've drawn the anime characters and ... the art really matches the show.

Sound (9)
I enjoyed all the songs and the background music sets the mood perfectly. I can't say much more about it.

Characters (8)
I love all of them! They are still lovely dorks and the twins also have entertaining personalities. There isn;t much character development (only for the villains), but I find that okay.

Enjoyment (10)
I really enjoyed it and I had to laugh all the time. Some things don't make sense, but it's okay. I'm sure you will still enjoy it and because it doesn't make sense it becomes funnier. In one episode they will even give you a bit of fanservice~

I decided to write a review just out of the lack of them this second season has and the lack of different reasons as to why I think somebody that watched the first season of this might enjoy this season too, maybe a bit less, maybe a bit more, but definitely "enjoying".

Story & characters - 8

My experience with this anime introduced from first season started maybe like most of yours did: an anime about magical boys is assured to get some laughs, at worst, it'll be just something cheerfull to watch when you want to shut off your brain, at best it'd be something that's ... funny for how bad it is. Well...i take that back tenfold.

"Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love!", at least first season, managed to turn into a masterpiece. And this season isn't far off. Why? you might ask. It's just a funny show about bishonens that just do random stuff and transform into magical boys thinking they're Sailor Moon and co.. What's the deal? Well, dear reader, if you believe that then I shall give you a slight change of perspective and ask you: Why does it look like a ridiculous all-boys version of Sailor Moon or -insert any magical girl anime that you grew up with here-? Because it doesn't just try to look like it and make it funny, it also takes out and presents the best and the worst tropes of the magical girl genre by showing how ridiculously stupid they can get in a way that's at best hilarious and at worst nonsense. This is what we call a parody, where the story and characters don't exactly matter as much as the concept it revolves around.

The first season manages to do this masterfully and while episodic, which makes me understand why some people might have found it repetitive, it follows the exact same structure as any average magical girl anime. The second season follows the exact same formula as well: it introduces the magical updates, more over the top powers/attacks, another set of villains, more mascots, but the reactions of our protagonists don't usually go much out of the parameters of an "eh..." which is hilarious, because our poor boys didn't already go through enough ridiculousness as it is, so their reactions can only be translated as ultimate acceptance!

Besides that, what differentiates this season from simply being a copy-paste of the first season is that it digs more into the already brought up subjects of the first season which they didn't have time to develop, such as television, fandoms, networks and more importantly, the "idol mentality". It just impresses me how this show managed to be so aware of how we, as a mass of people, the audience, sometimes tend to like entertaining stuff that don't have much thought put into them besides being entertaining more than actual quality material, without our "magical boys show" itself forgetting what it's supposed to parody. It impresses me how it brought the sometimes-issue of fandoms and how much importance they're getting to be able to decide what goes and what stays by a simple push of a like button. It impresses me how it brought awareness to the duality between idols being a concept built on lies and shallowness and idols as bringers of hope and encouragement. The whole show promotes the entire concept of perspective change and how one thing can be seen as ridiculous, but seen in another way it actually becomes a serious subject, or even a dark one such as the bringing in of "obsession".

Art & Sound - 8

Honestly, I liked all songs in this season, while I can't remember at all the ost of the first. The twins' songs, the opening, the tracks inbetween it, it just brought a smile to my face everytime. The art is also as good as the first one, nothing to say there. It does sometimes slip, but it manages to be colorful and cheerful for the most part.

In short, it's really a great parody that tackles a variety of tropes and subjects. What it managed to do less well than the first season though is the element of surprise. Yeah, I know, after what I said, I imagine it'd be the last thing you'd imagine me to say, but this comes to personal preference more than there being an actual issue. The repetitiviness does get tiring at one point and there is a lot of space that could be considered unecessary during the middle of the show and maybe even less funny for trying to bring in so many subjects to build up the climax which really paid off, but a lot less than in the first season, which was overall more simple and I do tend to value semplicity when it's done right and not superficially. At least, the first season was all about magical girls tropes and the conclusion was a big twist; here it was just an expected conclusion to several elements by introducing the consequence of said elements without excessively dwelving into them.

I recommend the whole series of Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love to those that like parodies, but also to those that would like a brain-shut once in a while.

This is a combination of my thoughts on both the first and second seasons, and I am planning on watching it to the end. However, it still confuses me why I decided to carry onto the Love!Love! after spending the first season realising how bad and repetitive the story is. It seems to be a modern adaptation of Sailor Moon, aimed at creating 'cute' boys for girls to coo over. On the over hand, no manner of adorableness can overcome the fact the show is just a cringe fest of poor jokes and boring plot. I can see how it can please some fangirls, but ... in reality I found the series to be bland and not particularly deserving of a second season.

Wow, I didn't expect to enjoy this at all! My journey with this anime has been pretty bumpy-- I watched one episode of this years ago, but unbeknownst to me at the time, I watched the wrong episode one-- I had watched episode one of the second season before the first. I was confused and bored by the episode, so I put it on hold. But if you've read any of my reviews before, you know me-- I can't handle leaving things unfinished.

I went back to this series earlier this month and I realized I had watched it in the wrong order. I finished ... the first season quickly, and while it was repetitive and dull at times, it was by no means bad. I expected these qualities to continue into the second season, but I was surprised as the second season was a great improvement on the first.

To begin with, the storyline improved by volumes. While the first storyline's plot twist made the show worth it, it was also drowned out by repetitiveness and the too-simple plotline. However, in this season, it starts out repetitive and slowly evolves into an actual multiple-episode plot with important flashback details being planted throughout the show. It's not a particularly fascinating or unheard-of storyline, but it's definitely entertaining and fun.

The art, like always, was pretty good. It's neat, clean, nice to look at, and is made up of bright colors that are pleasing to the eye. The characters are all easy to differentiate (save for sometimes Haruhiko and Akihiko-- but they're twins, so I guess it can slide) and the backgrounds are well drawn.

The sound was pretty amazing, especially since the main villains are idols this time around. The opening song and closing song were really catchy and all the twins' songs were upbeat and well-written. I really enjoyed the song bits across the episodes.

The characters improved greatly from the first season. Instead of just relying on stereotypes, they developed some characters more and gave them more sides to their personalities, which I really appreciated. They also developed more on the kinda 'romance' between Atsushi and En and Ryuu and Io.

Another great selling point to this series is the jokes and parodies-- the show is a blatant parody of magical girl shows, and it does a great job of it. In addition to this, they always have some innuendos going on (see the volleyball episode) that serve to make all dialogue hilarious, not to mention running gags such as En's exclamations every time the Battle Lovers come across some shocking information.

Overall, this was too much fun to now watch!

I would recommend this if you: like magical girls, liked the first season, like innuendos, are looking for something laid-back to watch, don't like stressful cliffhangers, want something light-hearted

I would NOT recommend this if you: didn't like the first season, like darker subject material, like overarching storylines, want a lot of character or plot development

Magical boys!

The art is fine, it gets flashy and sparkly at some moments.

For characters, there is no female. It's all male.

The music is the best part about this anime, even the BGM in the final episode was something epic. I especially loved the idol twins, The VEPPers. Their theme song is so catchy, it got me singing along every time they transform.

... I'm biased with Shirai Yuusuke's voice acting, still I'll rate this show a proper overall of 8.

The story maybe typical, but hey it's showcasing magical boys. If you like magical boys, shounen-ai vibes, catchy songs, then this will be a good show to kill time.

If you're looking for fan service, you definitely come to the right place. Somehow I feel like watching this give me the similar feeling when I was watching Free! I definitely enjoy the pairings in this anime!

Plot: 5

I find a hard time enjoying the plot mainly because this season doesn't have a likeable plot to begin with. The obsession of the Veppu twins towards Gora-san is downright annoying at some point and it didn't help at all with this season is definitely centering around Yumoto. Alright, I get it that he's the main character but his character is less desirable compared to the others. I ... will talk about this more on another part.

The fighting scenes are total half-assed. It's not as exciting as the first season. It's more to like Yumoto talking with the monsters and then suddenly the final blow. It's frustrating how half-assed it's done.

Characters: 6

First let's talk about the Vepp twins. I definitely enjoy these characters. They're good-looking, enough fan service. Though these characters only show their power at the very last episode which is such a waste.

Next, Yumoto. Oh lord, I don't know why but I find his character the least likeable out of all. I definitely am very disappointed with the season because it feels to Yumoto centered. He gets most of the screen time and the plot basically revolves around him. His characteristic is downright typical and annoying. A bland character.

I really prefer Enchan, Ryuu and Io though. Their personalities are more strong, and realistic. I think the story would be more interesting if this season divided the screen time fairly and actually develop other characters as well (not that they develop Yumoto's character in the first place but still) and again, it's annoying how Yumoto always gets a special move and transformation. I really want to get to know the other characters better.


Over all I give this season a 5/10. I prefer the first season way better than this one. This season is definitely a let down.

If season 1 was about the power of love in all its forms, the theme of this season is jealousy and the importance of letting go, moving forward, and focusing on the future.

This time, with the addition of a sports anime episode, the parody elements aren't only picking from the magical girl and BL genres! There are also even more references to significant Japanese cultural icons and staples that may go over the heads of a Western audience, but there is plenty of situational humor that is enjoyable and easy to grasp.

Admittedly, season 2 does try to do too many things. By giving the antagonists ... a more complex backstory and tossing in a commentary about idol culture (because idols were trendy at the time and still are), the story garners a lot of interest... but the pacing is less than ideal. The hints and flashbacks scattered throughout the season succeeded at building suspense, only to dump a lot of exposition that leads to more questions in the finale. In the process, it created fascinating new characters that are easy to get attached to! Unfortunately, if you aren't a fan of idols or twincest (a la Ouran High School Host Club), the antagonists of this arc may not be your cup of tea.

As for the returning main cast, despite the episodes that attempt to provide some answers to lingering questions in season 1, their stories are largely left open-ended and ripe for fan interpretation. Plus, for anyone looking to expand their 18+ shipping repertoire, more adult characters join the ensemble and there is oh-so-much potential!

While the monsters of the week are still occasionally very relatable, the increase in gross humor this season detracts from the catharsis of their healing, which had become such a staple of the original season for many fans. Yumoto's speeches to them often felt less impactful this time around. Thankfully, not all of them felt rushed or dissonant to the problems the monsters were facing, but enough of them did that it was noticeable, although this may have been intended to reflect how the Battle Lovers care even less about fighting than before. As the primary focus shifts to humor that pokes fun at the bizarreness of antagonists struggling to engage heroes who refuse to respond, if you are a fan of season 1 and are expecting season 2 to treat the Loveless the same way, this shift in tone may be disappointing.

Overall, I highly recommend this season to anyone who enjoyed the concept of the original show and is looking for another 12 episodes of silly parody fun with the Battle Lovers and their ridiculous space grandpa.

I gave this anime a try, and watched the first episode. This isn't usually my type of anime to watch. I've seen plenty of anime with a male that has magical powers (Fairy Tale, Magi, Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon etc.) But none were like this. My dislikes were:

1/2 Their transformed outfits look ridiculous, I get they were aiming for magical shounen series but this anime didn't work for me. I've seen better magical males in anime, Natsu Dragneel (Fairy Tale), Aladdin (Magi), Li Syaoran (Cardcaptor Sakura).


2/2 It would have been better if they had a magical sword, gun, bow or lance instead of ... a wand. If they were wizards/warlocks then it would make sense to have a wand but they don't look like it.


The wombat was cute, however those things would have made a cool magical shounen series!
