Zettai Shounen

Zettai Shonen may be twice as long as Haibane Renmei, but the pacing of both the shows is similar. They both are more reliant on character development than moving the plot forward. There is an aura of the supernatural in both shows, however Haibane Renmei has a superior art style. The slowly revealed plot and the strength of character development make both of these shows worthwhile. 

Zettai Shounen and Ghost Hound both have young teenagers dealing with supernatural occurrences (especially in relationship to the past) in isolated, small towns with beautiful scenery. Zettai Shounen does not have the same vibe of horror that Ghost Hound does, but it shares its air of mystery and the creepiness of the unknown. 

Both of these shows depict a day to day routine that contains the spice of mysterious supernatural happenings. In both, those mysteries are never totally resolved, leaving the viewer the freedom to imagine. 

Both of these animes are peaceful paced, dreamy stories which contain a refreshing combination of the mundane and the supernatural. Both of them also refuse to wrap up all of their mysteries completely clearly, leaving a lot to the viewer's imagination 

Both shows take the "laid back" storytelling style to a whole new level. Instead of rushing the plot they prefer to guide you along by nudging you from behind for a walk through the forest of stories until you make it to the shining light at the end. Don't expect to be given many details about their worlds because it is left up to you to unravel the secrets. Shingu is centered around Sci-Fi and has a cheerful atmosphere to it. Zetai Shonen focuses on the SuperNaturual(or the "Unknown") and has more of a mystery atmosphere. Both shows are diamonds that were overlooked and are definitely worth the watch. read more 

For the few that enjoyed the incredible atmosphere of Zettai Shounen, you may enjoy Windy Tales. It has a very similar atmosphere at times, though it is more evident in certain episodes. For those that enjoyed the atmosphere of Windy Tales, you may be able to appreciate Zettai Shounen. Both are beautiful series. 

Both series focus more on the character's development, and reactions to the changes in their day to day life, though the settings are different, but both the stories are very unique. Each character has a realistic tone to them, and they're both underrated must watches.  

Slow-paced atmospheric slice-of-life shows that take place in the country side. Both deal with the supernatural events in the area and have realistic characters that do not fit in the usual anime tropes. The main characters are kids and the two sisters from each show interact with each other in a similar fashion. The protagonist in Zettai Shounen is a boy and in the second arc another girl comes into focus, whereas in Mokke, everything revolves around the sisters. 

Similar feeling of mystery. 

These series have very similar paces, themes and settings, and they are both directed by Tomomi Mochizuki. I just felt exactly the same when I watched Futatsu No Shonen and Zettai Spica (huhu), all in all, very close series. 

Zettai Shounen and Dennou Coil involve children investigating unusual events related to rumors and urban myths/folktales of their respective locales. What is regarded as "real" is questioned in both stories, and the key to solving the mysteries is locked in the protagonist's murky past. 

Sure, Higurashi is gruesome and disturbing while Zettai Shounen is a violence-free series that goes at a lethargic pace. However, the two are somewhat similar since both involve characters trying to figure out supernatural mysteries occuring in rural settings.  

I think, they both have the same story telling style. Both have a slow, but very good story and character development. Both have some sort of similar characters, who doesn't speak often also when they should talk. Also the character-drawingstyle from Zettai Shonen, although it's not from Sadamoto, reminds me of SIGN, everytime when I see it. 

Both are mystery anime, though Zettai Shounen is a little more slower moving than Suteki Tantei Labyrinth. I enjoyed both of them very much, so give 'em a try. =D 

For those who enjoyed true tears for the style of character development, Zettai Shounen may be the next logical series to watch. Both series employ a wholly action-based rather than exposition-based character development strategy: to understand what motivates a character, one has to look at their actions. true tears has a much more conventionally compelling plot, what with the love pentagon situation, but for those who get into the atmosphere and characters of Zettai Shounen, it can be just as compelling. 

Both series deal with supernatural beings, and focus more on character interaction. In Mushishi's case, the series focuses on a new character every episode, and details how their life is affected by the Mushis. Zettai Shounen, on the other hand, has more of an air of mystery about it, and focuses much less on the interactions between material fairies/evils and the characters. They both have a very relaxing atmosphere about them, as well as a slow-paced plot progression. 

Both series feature supernatural phenomena occurring in rural areas. The stories are also slowly paced, reflecting the laid back lifestyle of the locals.
