Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro

Yako Katsuragi is an acclaimed high school detective, who, despite her young age, has solved many cases. In fact, there seems to be no case that she cannot solve, or any culprit that escapes justice. But within the walls of her detective agency lies the secret to her prolific crime-solving skills: the cases are actually solved by her assistant, Neuro Nougami.

However, to call Neuro an ordinary man would be incorrect. In reality, he is a demon, who came to the human world in search of the ultimate mystery, having already solved every mystery in the demon world. With Yako as his proxy, he feasts on the negative energy released by humans when they commit crimes. Thus, he promises to help Yako solve the mystery of her father's death. But to do so, he must avoid drawing too much attention to himself, which is why Yako plays the role of the detective. As Yako desperately searches for the truth of her father's death, the unlikely duo continues to solve case after case in order to satisfy Neuro's ravenous appetite.

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro

It is an anime produced by Madhouse that aired from October 2, 2007 until March 25, 2008. It has as genres, Mystery, Comedy, Demons, Supernatural and Shounen.

Story:
Being an anime of related genres, like Mystery, Comedy, Demons, Supernatural and Shounen, is VERY unique. Basically, the story revolves around two main characters, Katsuragi Yako, a high school girl who starts getting excited about solving mysteries (in Anime, later ... she begins to be recognized as "The Female High School Detective") and Nougami Neuro, a DETECTIVE demon from hell. The story of the two begins with Yako's encounter with Neuro, the moment Yako sees his father dead in his room, his father's case seems unsolvable and without proving that the police accuse Yako's father of suicide, so Yako thinks IMPROVABLE the suicide of his father, Neuro appears and speaks says he is a DETECTIVE from hell who can help you find a solution to your father's case, then the "journey" of the two detectives begins.

Characters:
So the characters in Anime are COMPLETELY COOL, OMG!, all are incredible, extremely funny, and extremely WELL explored.(I will focus on the two main characters as they are the ones I liked the most).

Nougami Neuro: Nougami Neuro: An extremely talented, sadistic, funny and a little scary detective. Even Neuro being a demon, his looks and clothes are extremely incredible, his personality has given me lots of laughter and moments of fun. One of my favorite characters among all Animes

Katsuragi Yako: Ah, what to talk about Yako-san, an extremely funny and cute character. So her relationship with Neuro is extremely well done in the anime course, and my God, she's really cool and has a fascinating personality. It will surely stay somewhere in my heart.

Conclusion:
Well directed by Hiroshi Koujinaq and produced by Madhouse, Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro is an extremely captivating and interesting Anime to watch. I'm watching him on vacation, as I have more time left to amuse myself watching Animes, Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro appeared, and I do not regret to having started to watch, is an extremely good Anime and I recommend to everyone who has curiosity in animes of this genre .
It is one of my personal FAVORITES.

Mixed Feelings

Note: I usually watch newer shows, so this review will unavoidably be somewhat biased from that point of view.

This anime would be less of a chore to watch if most of the episodes and plot points weren't obvious filler to (if you're lucky) explain some world detail. Of course, some filler is okay, but the majority of the series and most of the first half (episodes 1-12) are comprised of mediocre at best filler which are only worth watching if you are incredibly bored, have time to kill or have whatever sense of humor this panders to. It being mostly filler could definitely be due ... to the constraint of how it was released and the era of which it was released in, but I haven't read the manga, so I cannot say.

Some of the cases have "tricks" are so insane you will never be able to guess what the author next pulls out of their ass, occasionally resolved sometimes with Neuro's "777 EVIL TOOLS OF HELL" that he, likewise, pulls out of his ass. You don't need most of these evil tools, please just use regular human technology as it really ruins that plot point for me.

Those insane tricks not be a problem if they were actually noticeable in the background or set (are they even drawn?). Perhaps you need some supernatural powers like Neuro in order to see them. However, this somewhat gets better in the second half of the anime. However, after watching a few episodes, if you can't predict the trick you will likely be able to predict most of the time who the murderer is (hint: it's usually not someone with a motive!).

In the first half of the anime the series only really focuses on the case at hand, instead of the characters solving/participating in them. If you're lucky, they'll add some vague and boring explanation as to why the villain of that episode acts that way, but if you want an actual thought out explanation or backstory for their character besides "they're crazy/evil" you'll have to wait until the HAL arc or maybe the Aya arc.

The monster transformations for the majority of the criminals are entirely unnecessary and do not serve any purpose beyond further character assassination/demonization and garnering extra supernatural points to differentiate this from Case Closed. In some cases, the designs are so abhorrent you'll want to skip forwards in the anime, like with the Histerrier case.

The incredibly long nose of the character "David Rice" feels like it could be some sort of racist caricature of American people, but I can't say.

Sai also seems incredibly underutilized considering the runtime of this anime. 25 episodes and we get, what, 4 or 5 episodes where Sai is actually relevant to the plot? Also, on the topic of Sai, at the end of the story one of the main characters (Yako) receives information which she could reasonably use to conclude something very important to both her backstory and Sai and yet she is somehow unable to. Why? Was this an attempt at the author painting Yako as an unreliable narrator, stupid or unwilling to face the truth? It is never discussed.

Neuro is purportedly a very intelligent character, and yet is uncapable of understanding positive emotion. Of course, that somewhat makes sense considering he is a demon and all, but surely with all that intelligence he should be able to understand at least a little of them. Yet, he seems to state that he is incapable of that. It is not evident if the author intends Neuro to be capable of understanding emotions and not actually wanting to tell people that he is.

It's probably not a good thing that some of the biggest mysteries in this story are the main characters.

In conclusion, this is an 8 episode series with a lot of filler injected between those 8 episodes. The second half is much better than the first. It's better than the surface-level isekai slop you would see pumped out today, but that's not exactly a high bar to clear. It would probably be served quite well by a re-adaptation with modern animation techniques and a story rework, since there are at least a few diamonds in the rough to uncover that I certainly did not expect from this anime. The story is also open to continuation, but as it's been 20 years now since the initial publication of the manga I wouldn't hold out hope which is a shame.

I would recommend this if you're willing to sit through the first half of the anime and are somewhat patient, otherwise you should probably watch Code Geass, Case Closed or Death Note. Personally, I enjoyed it :-)

The first word in mind for this show is CRINGEY. Neuro is a demon who comes to the human world to solve mysteries and I would have liked it a lot more if he found a Light Yagami kind of main character. Or at least a character who takes themselves somewhat seriously. The problem with a show like this is it takes a very dark, serious problem (Psychopass kind of mystery shit) and then the main character comes from a comedy shoujo anime so they cancel each other out with no clear direction for the show. It leaves you with a very niche group of ... people who can watch this (it's not really appealing to viewers who are into shoujo anime, but it also wouldn't appeal to like, people who are looking for a serious kind of show).
The whole "You are the criminal" part always makes me cringe - especially when it's not even her solving the goddamn case, it's the demon that you're leeching off of.
