Synopsis

The Tsunashi couple is as lively and offbeat as ever. Hardcore otaku shut-in Hajime and workaholic office lady Kaoru still get themselves into hilarious situations thanks to both their own eccentric natures and the bizarre group of friends surrounding them.

After learning about Kaoru's pregnancy, Hajime works harder than ever to become a good husband and a worthy father. Meanwhile, Kaoru reflects on their relationship and remembers all of the trials and tribulations that brought them closer. The two of them continue to put their best foot forward in their lives and their marriage—all for the sake of long-lasting, selfless love.

I was a bit worried about the second season of this show, as the first one's ending suggested the child and the way it changes the protagonist's relationship would be the main theme... But that's only partially the case, as the unrelated slice-of-life moments are also very much present. The funny and wholesome tone is very much sustained, along with the pretty on-point commentary on modern marriage.

For purely subjective reasons I'll rate this slightly lower than the first season (I just really don't like children and I'm very happy my relationship is by mutual agreement devoid of those :P) and a few episodes were a ...

A continuation of the antics of husband and wife from season 1, season 2 jumps around with the story a significant amount more than the first.

The big reveal at the end of the first season is left unaddressed until the 10th episode of the second. Leaving this massive plot thread unaddressed until the third-to-last episode made me feel a bit unfulfilled as a viewer.

The wit and charm of this series is still as present as ever but, without advancing the plot until there is only nine minutes of animation left felt like the story went nowhere.

But what can you expect from a series that ...

I quite enjoyed I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying season 1. Season 2 is not terrible, but is less essential than that first one. The first one is just so adorable and wholesome, and season 2 is still adorable and wholesome, but the introduction of other characters and having them have their own arcs in an anime that is already extremely short as it is leaves little room for the main characters to have a beautiful moment. There are nice moments on here, don't get me wrong; I mostly enjoyed this anime, but season 2 is not as good as the first. It ...
