Synopsis

The movie is sort of a prequel to the entire series, it showed the life of Doraemon before traveling to the 20th century: How he was made, how he was partially broken, how he lost his ears, how he met the Nobi family and decides to return to the past to help Nobita.

Watching Doraemon's beginnings made me appreciate him more and understand his devotion to Nobita in a much deeper sense. He was, after all, just like Nobita, a clumsy amateur cat-robot with bullies of his own and a girl that makes his days a little more pleasant despite of the hardships. The bond he had with Sewashi, the grandson of his eventual master, was very adorable as well.

I also loved how the very idea of Doraemon took form from a manga artist's desperate search for a new story into a dream, a fateful encounter with some random toy, and eventually into a legacy that proves time ...
