Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2

For centuries, humanity has been hunted by giant, mysterious predators known as the Titans. Three mighty walls—Wall Maria, Rose, and Sheena—provided peace and protection for humanity for over a hundred years. That peace, however, was shattered when the Colossal Titan and Armored Titan appeared and destroyed the outermost wall, Wall Maria. Forced to retreat behind Wall Rose, humanity waited with bated breath for the Titans to reappear and destroy their safe haven once more.

In Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2, Eren Yeager and others of the 104th Training Corps have just begun to become full members of the Survey Corps. As they ready themselves to face the Titans once again, their preparations are interrupted by the invasion of Wall Rose—but all is not as it seems as more mysteries are unraveled. As the Survey Corps races to save the wall, they uncover more about the invading Titans and the dark secrets of their own members.

I will keep it short. I don't know how the people felt when it was coming live every few days, but now that this series is over and I am binge watching, it's being quite suspenful and building various disconnected stories. I am liking it no less and it's still the greatest ever masterpiece of a story like its predecessor.

Although the previous season was a perfect 10 of emotions, drama, anxiety, blood and action, I gave this season a 9/10 as the stories are taking a certain turn , which am not liking. It's like the early seasons of ... game of thrones where the story of white walkers, which in later seasons turned out to be biggest threat to humanity, was given very less importance and thought . While the crown politics and power struggle was given a much major role, like 5 stories of politics in 9 episodes and 1 story of white walker in 1 episode.

And credits to GOT's earlier season storywriters , we as audience still gripped that series with awe and got sucked into politics, without even realising the bigger story or complaining about the walkers.

However Attack on Titans is a much better story and the audience realise the major threat from the very first episode.

I won't spoil anything but the stories in s2 deviate from the main threat and goes into certain paths for slightly longer than i would have liked.


But don't worry. I have watched half of s3 as well and those stories will later connect to main threat in a much more satisfying way, alongside some major revelations and even better actions.

Another thing to appreciate is its starting/ ending songs and theme songs. Mann, some of them are some of the best EPs I have ever heard and the feeling of sadness, eerie, hope, anxiety etc gushes out of them in large quantity. If someone like me who got real goosebumps after hearing the light of the seven, then there's an ending song with same energy.

So once again, thanks to Japan for creating this legendary legacy.

Mixed Feelings

The sequel certainly builds upon season 1. With surprisingly high, but still a marginal amount of questions answered.

The plot itself follows a semi-non-chronological order (namely parallel storytelling) but remains easy to follow, thanks to the coherence it holds throughout. The events are fairly intriguing and advance the story at a relatively well-maintained pace.

The characters do not develop much, but stay true to the traits established in season 1.

The worldbuilding, a significant problem in season 1, received a substantial upgrade. It not only answered some questions but also attempted to fill in plot holes. Several questionable decisions were reconsidered and, while still problematic, were at least ... given a rationale.

The biggest virtue of the season is undoubtedly its portrayal of human reactions to extreme events. It is logical, realistic, and intrinsically human.
The show does not shy away from portraying mass murderers as such and even calling them out on it. There are revelations and even a verbal promise of impending punishment for their sins—something much awaited for the arc's completion.
Another example is the depiction of how atrocious events affect the human psyche, making the perpetrators' subsequent actions not only more understandable but also showing how their own sins impact them—offering a partial remedy for the audience.

A very competent but pointed portrayal that improved upon the lackluster season 1, though it still carried many of its weaknesses.
It certainly satisfies a very specific type of curiosity, but beyond that, it does not offer much else.

Also, just a more subjective part, but currently the setups are fairly simple and easy, this isn’t inherently a flaw—it creates a sense of stability that holds the audience in a lull of predictability. However, it raises an intriguing question: will this predictability persist, or are the creators preparing to pull the rug out from under the audience?

My god what a snoozefest.

The first season of this show was overrated enough but the fact that this season is almost in the top 100 highest rated anime of all time is hilarious. Eren's whining is as insufferable as ever, the few cool characters like Mikasa and Levi don't get enough screentime and scenes feel severely dragged out. Nevermind that, the show expects you to care about characters that haven't been fleshed out which is the greatest sin of all.

I might force myself to watch season 3 since people hype it up so much but man I'm begging AoT fans to watch their 2nd ... anime.
