Ryuji Somehow reminds me of harima.. they are both looks like delinquent.. but they actually are sweet and kind..
they also have problems to confess their love to the person they like :P
Misunderstood Delinquent like lead male characters, awesome comedy and great female characters with tons of misunderstandings and comedy. Toradora is a bit more complete then school rumble, but school rumbles cast is more enjoyable then Toradoras in my opinion. Both are great Comedy/romances.
If you're looking for a great romantic comedy, look no further. School Rumble does well in blending slapstick humor and slice-of-life with a bit of romance. Both titles are similar in that they are driven by their characters and how they develop over the course a school year, and it's really easy to connect to the characters. Be wary that SR may not offer as conclusive an ending as Toradora; even so, it's well worth the ride! 9/10
Both shows are about the problems of school kids confessing their love to someone.
In both of them, one of the main characters is a feared delinquent though too shy to confess and express his/her feelings.
The initial situation soon developes into a more complicated network of who's in love with who.
Both are romantic love comedies about involving characters. However, I'll freely admit that Toradora is definitely better than School Rumble. There's a good reason for that though, School Rumble manga went on for 250+ chapters, so the anime finished with a big "to be continued" at the end.
The story follows many interesting little matches, revolving around Harima Kenji (One of the greatest characters anime has ever seen, for other reasons than what are considered standards) and Tsukamoto Tenma.
I should mention both the first and second season ended with a big "to be continued." They decided to animate the end of school rumble as a 2 episode OVA, rather than wait for funding for an entirely new season. The OVA skips over everything that's happened in the meantime, so you'll have to read it to be informed as to what's happened, but it's not absolutely necessary.
I could ramble and explain the show, but I figure it's more effective to say this. If you liked Toradora, if you liked Seto no Hanayome, if you liked any show similar to these, you will enjoy School Rumble. It's certainly one of my favourites. read more
Both anime take place in a high school setting. The male protagonists from both series start from episode 1 with a well-known reputation at school as a mean delinquent among their classmates. It takes a few episodes before their classmates begin warming up to them.
Typical stuff found in other high school anime are also present such as cool teachers, swimsuit fanservice, and school festivals. Not typically found in school life/romantic-comedy anime, are fight scenes. The short fight scenes are scattered throughout each series in order to advance the plot.
However, the main draw to these series are their comedy and romantic bits. Both series find the right balance for each. Since both series are romantic-comedies, you can expect to see some romantic bits, intertwined with some comedy. In some anime, it's made pretty clear early on who the final pairing will likely be...not so in School Rumble or Toradora! Love triangles are found in both involving the male protagonists which will keep you guessing who the final pair will be.
The randomness in their 26 episode run helps keeps the series from going stale. read more
They have the exact same sort of situation, setup, and plot - at least initially. Toradora has better art and School Rumble has way more jokes, so bear that in mind.
More than one love triagle, have a tsundere character, a rich girl character, are both funny romfoms except Toradora gets serious at times while school rumble stays silly.
They are both romance comedies in a school setting. School Rumble seemed to have more comedy while Toradora was a bit more serious. But they are both hilarious! The love triangles were very similar in each show, and the main character Harima and Ryuuji seemed very similar to me.
School comedy with very similar character set:
Scary looking but gentle inside main character (Harima/Takasu) in love with lightheaded (Tenma/Minori) but he has to spend much time with tsundere (Eri/Taiga). And there is strange Karasuma/Kitamura guy.
Same kind of school love comedy tinged with feely moments. Both are full of epic misunderstandings between people failing to confess their love.
Toradora has a bit more sad moments while School Rumble is more focused on comedy.
Both animes are high school romantic comedies that are written very well. Love triangles turn into love rectangles and pentagons, making the relationships between characters very complicated and hysterical.
Super generic characters.
Takasu/Harima : They look like a deliquents but really sweet and kindinside.
Minori/Tenma : Both light-headed and weird. The MC's first love interest.
Taiga/Eri : Tsunderes who spent most of their time with the MC.
Kitamura/Karasuma : Weird and strange guy.
Both have the same problems of confessing to someone they like.
- Complicated love comedy stories, about the problems of confessing their love to someone
- Both anime take place in a high school setting
- Both have tons of misunderstandings
- School Rumble are into a lot of comedy while Toradora focus on serious story
Both are school based romantic comedies. Although in Toradora the romantic side is more explored. But in the core both are anime that highlight love life of students with a bit of comedy sprinkled in.
Both are romantic comedy. Although School Rumble is born out of Love Polygon (which is very hilarious) while Kaguya-sama Love is War is straight up romance. You'll see some resemblance of the gags. Also, even the author of Kaguya-sama Love is War cited School Rumble as his inspiration. Pretty cool right?
The author of Kaguya-sama cited School Rumble as his inspiration to write Kaguya-sama. Both are funny romcoms with wacky characters failing in hilarious ways to attract their crush.
Both are gag-oriented romance anime, with each one adapting 3 chapters per episode separated into segments. Both have similar humor and have continuity based on building upon earlier jokes.
Both are great romantic comedies with great characters and a lot of funny moments. Kaguya was actually inspired by School Rumble, so there's a big chance that if you like one you'll like the other one too.
The author of Kaguya-sama said he was inspired by School Rumble. School Rumble and Kaguya-sama have many things in common, like episodes segmented into three parts, sense of humor, and characterization.
If you enjoy one, you'll definitely enjoy the other.
If you like School Comedies like School Rumble, then you'll definitely love watching Ouran High School Host Club! OHSHC may take a while to get used to the way the boys handle, but later you'll so going to appreciate it.
They are similar in some ways, especially since it's about high school students. Ouran is also funny, though not as funny as School Rumble (but SR is reeeally hard to beat in that way, for me at least)
Ouran highschool host club is a love comedy, so is school rumble. both have really funny chibi expressions too. I'de say the only difference is the main characters. both are hilarious.
Both SchoolRumble and Ouran will make you laugh time and again. They are funny, can be poignant at times, are mostly random but do have something of a plot. Both focus on high school students and their interactions with each other. Though they are not entirey similar (no anime can be), if you like one then there is a high chance you will enjoy the other.
It's fun and playful anime, it really makes you laugh. Although they have a bit different subjects, it's all about love in both anime in a really comic way.
Both are school animes, although School rumble has a more serious plot, they're both very comical, both involve a female and male protagonist, with the male trying to attract the female, however in School rumble, it's more of a love triangle, both are extremely good and funny animes.
If you like one, you'll most likely like the other!
Though the art style is starkly different (probably the hardest part of the transition) they're both absolutely hilarious romcoms which are primarily great because of their lovably, zany characters. If you enjoyed Ouran Host Club and all of its humor but are looking for something geared a little bit more toward males than School Rumble delivers.
There isn't much connecting the two shows besides their genres, as most of the characters don't have counterparts. But that's why I think School Rumble is a great show to follow Ouran with, because it offers a new perspective on a high school romance, uses the same general slice of life format and comedy. If you enjoyed Ouran for it's lovable characters and crazy humor, than you'll love School Rumble all the same, while still getting a taste of something new.  read more
Both series are a high school romance comedy. Very funny characters living their everyday lives with their friends doing just about everything! From trips to the pool, dates, and more in store. Definitely recommended if you want a good laugh and a bit of romance :)
Having a crazy school life? Well... it can't possibly be as crazy as the lives of any of the students in either one of these Anime. That's part of the charm of these anime.
Filled to the brim with stupidity, over the top antics and plenty of randomness; School Rumble and Baka to Test has much to offer, especially in the comedy department.
Baka to Test is for those who like parodies, and the clichés of anime all thrown into one bag and mocked out of.
School Rumble consists of many "short episodes" of gags, as to not bore the viewer whereas Baka to Test has a certain theme or direction of an episode e.g. the classic "Pool Day"
Either way, if you like brainless laughs and just want something over-the-top and insane to watch then try Baka to Test or School Rumble.  read more
They both are school comedy type despite not really similar to School Rumble, and School Rumble is way funnier than Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu (in my opinion) they both share the same genre
Both romance/comedy which revolve around a group of students, their far outlives and love dense main characters. Baka is more over the top in its antics and randomness but School Rumble isn't that far off.
It's safe to say both will provide plenty of laughs and enjoyment!! :)
Both are high school slice-of-life comedies with an idiot main character. These both involve love triangles, and rely on somewhat recycled jokes or gags. I also noticed that in the second half of both shows, there was more drama added. Both anime have a large cast, with plenty of quirky characters. However, Baka and Test seems to have more perverse humor than School rumble.
Personally, I did get some laughs from both shows, but they just weren't exactly my cup of tea.
The humor, characters, setting, and plot are practically shared between the two shows. Both are set in high school, feature a romantically clueless MC, make use of classic anime character tropes, and showcase characters the are practically copies of each other. These two shows go hand in hand as two of the funniest high school romantic comedies ever made and their similarity make them perfect for someone who has finished one series and is itching for more of the same humor/characters.
The shows are similar enough that if you enjoyed one, you'll definitely enjoy the other, but different enough so that it doesn't feel repetitive or boring.  read more
There are some similarities between these two animes:
- Same type of humour with the heroine and hero being involved in ridiculous random situations.
- One of the protagonists is completely oblivious of the feelings of the heroine.
- One of the protagonists is a mangaka.
- Extremely fun scenes involving bikes.
- One character that appears to be a rebel/deliquent but has a sensible side.
Personally I prefer GSNK because it makes fun about all shoujo stereotypes, but both are really fun so you will enjoy one if you liked the other!
Both are general parodies of the Shōjo and Romantic Comedy genres, and they both involve romantic plots that are played for laughs and never really go anywhere. They also share a diverse cast of characters. School Rumble focuses more on a sketch comedy format with love triangles whereas Nozaki-kun focuses more on a slice of life format with recreational activities that bring the characters closer together.
Same type of comedy revolving around quirky characters in bizarre situations as well as scenes where a character has trouble confessing their feelings to their love interest. Very similiar type of characters between both shows as well (bubbly love-strucken girl, one-expression male character, etc.). If you laughed hard at one of these, you will for sure laugh hard at the other. Nozaki-kun mostly includes jokes that make fun of Shoujo manga/anime, while School Rumble includes many jokes at Shonen titles. Also, School Rumble has more romance than Nozaki-kun while Nozaki-kun has more comedy compared to School Rumble (but both have a lot)
School comedies with a similar sense of humor and revolve around funny misunderstandings and characters who like someone but are unable to tell them how they feel. One of the main characters of School Rumble also secretly becomes a manga artist and a girl from school helps him with his drawings.
There are some similarities that I want to point out..
-Same type of humor(random and make fun of the shoujo or the shounen genre)
-Both anime have characters that are involved in drawing manga
-Characters that are oblivious to love
-Minimum fanservice(There's a little fanservice in SR while there are none in GSNK)
Very very very funny anime, dense character, light hearted comedy, doesn't take itself too serious, I found both Nozaki and Kenji very funny and likeable. Tenma and Chiyo is very similar too. Cute lovestruck.
The comedic gag is pretty surprising and unpredictable.
1.Both of them are comedy anime which use romance as the main element for cooking up comedy in the shows.
2.Both of them have elements of "character making a manga and the love interest helping them out" in them which is also used for humor and it actually works out.
Two of the funniest anime in existence. And, perhaps coincidentally, the only two anime that spring to mind where the 'half-episode' mark often meant a different short story/chapter. You know how those other unfunny anime drag-on for the full episode run-time... despite being unfunny? These two don't. Clearly, 10-minutes is the best for animated comedy silliness.
The 2nd series of Full Metal Panic & all the seasons of School Rumble are both hilarious school comedies with a nice cast of characters, and they don't lose their humour even after many re-watchings.
Both have extremely funny plot and characters. If you like school rumble, then you will definitely not be disappoint by full metal panic - fumoffu. It is a must watch for those looking for comedy type anime.
Both animes are episodic, meaning one 20 minute episode is actually 2 or 3 small episodic parts. Both series can be watched in one full session, or if you have 6-10 minutes to spare while your pasta is boiling.
Difference:
Fumoffu is a Slapstick comedy with a tsundere lead to reinforce that.
School Rumble is a Romantic comedy that is reinforced by many misunderstandings and puns.
Both series are pure comedic geniuses in their native aspects.
Summary of these two series: Do these characters ever learn? No. Do they keep trying? Yes. Do they keep failing? Yes. Is it hilarious? OF COURSE! (Why else are we watching?) read more
They may not be that similar in setting at all, but both are some of the funniest things that you will ever encounter. If you laughed during School Rumble or vice versa your going to get one hell of a thrill.
Both anime(s) contain great humor without throwing in fan-service every 5 minutes. The main characters are similar in that they are known for their common-sense-lessness and romantic misunderstandings. Both series also covers the days of a typical school life setting with crude humor and great comedy.
Of course, there is romance in both series generated by interactions with the other characters. These two anime(s) definitely brings out the word "fun" to its finest form.
Both have the same type of crazy, insane humor, same type of characters in a school environment, etc. And both are awesome.
If you like one of these two anime, the other is definitely the most similar anime you'll ever find.
Both are high school comedy anime. Azumanga Daioh is a bit more wacky and random, and School Rumble has more story (just a little), but if you like one, you should also like the other.
Its high school... only a little different. A little zany, a little random, a lot of fun. If you like high school comedies that are somewhat wacky, both School Rumble and Azumanga Daioh provide plenty of laughs... especially with Tenma or Osaka's crazy day dreams!
If you add a few guys and some romance into azumanga daioh, you get the premesis for School Rumble. The other main difference is that School Rumble has two seasons, with a third one in production, and Azumanga daioh has one season and a few specials
Both shows have well developed comedic characters, their art style is alluring, and aside from SR's op and ed, both shows have songs that sound quite similar to each other.
karasuma is the exact counterpart of sakaki
Plus both sakaki and yakumo loves cats..the difference though is that sakaki has lots of favorite cats while yakumo has one specific favorite
every character has her own image song, and both school rumle and azumanga daioh have teachers that have known each other since college
Two comedies are amusing!
the difference is that in SR also shows the point of view of a boy, unlike AMD.
In both anime unimaginable things happen!
The unique personalities and sometimes of absurd characters, makes it even more interesting!
School Rumble is said to be the Azumanga Daioh of its time.
Both are respectfully good. Both have a female cast of main characters.
Both have rather interesting female teachers.
Both are pretty random.
Both series focus on individual character development.
I recommend both series.
both anime have similar gag, school life and often use to cite other anime or film, the main characters are always in absurd situations and most of the characters are crazy! if you enjoy school rumble, seto no hanayome is a good alternative
They both have a quirky approach to comedy, having the over the top emotional expressions, and the most comical voice work for most of the characters in both shows, and taking everyday situations and turning them into outrageous occurances - make for great rom-com fun.
Seto no Hanayome and School Rumble shows a cast of funny, charismatic, eccentric and well voiced chacacters. In addition, the nonsense reigns in his simple stories. However, in my opinion, SR is better
I was only a few episodes into Seto no Hanayome and I felt like I was rewatching School Rumble!. Hilariously funny stuff- incredible facial expressions, horribly entertaining situations, and that overall feeling of "This is so stupid, but I can't stop laughing!"
They're both very very funny anime's, their humor is VERY similar but GTO is a bit more ecchi at times. Also both are episodic in nature, meaning there's no MAIN plot, just a couple plots that last a couple episodes each with themes.
Both series are first of all, takes place at a school life setting with a large cast of characters.
Both series' main protagonists are viewed and portrayed as delinquents but later gets character development through his interactions with the other cast members.
Both series contain random humor, drama, action (less so in School Rumble), and some romance.
Both series are overall entertaining and even teaches a value in some of the episodes.
Both main male characters are misunderstood delinquents. This fact causes lots of drama for them which always results in hilarious outcomes.
Both shows are perfect for a good laugh.
School Rumble is the rightful rec for any GTO inquiry and vice versa.
GTO offers you a more mature experience using similar jokes, animation, crazy events, etc. Think of GTO as the older brother to School Rumble. The funny thing is that Onizuka was a biker prior to being a teacher, so although the stories don't converge there are stark similarities.
Put simply, if you liked School Rumble and don't mind a slightly more mature version then GTO will reward you. Also let me mention, GTO is one of the best anime I have ever seen in all regards.
Both have a very similar school setting. The only difference is that Onizuka is a teacher while the main characters in school rumble are students, which doesn't really matter because Onizuka acts like a student.
Apart from sharing an identical plot, these anime have many character similarities (Harima Kenji/Misao Zaitsu, Eri Sawachika/Kei Enomoto, Tenma Tsukamoto/Koyoi Bessho, etc), not to mention that in both series the relationship chart is pretty intricate.
Both are highly enjoyable school comedies with plenty of love triangles and misunderstandings.
Very similar in the fact that both series rely on complicated love triangles (probably being too generous here. You'd need a flow chart to map out the love interests) as a major plot device.
Both have a Big strong guy falling for a girl for no particular reason. Both of them guys love the girl they have fallen for with unconditional love. Harima/Misao seek to protects, care for, and sacrifices himself for the girl he loves even though Tenma/Ayumi already loves anther person. Harima/Misao may seem to have a hard exterior but it seems that beyond the multiple fights they get involved with they are both kind hearted (More so Misao then Harima) and loves animals.
---
Edit
Extreme complex love polygons. Everyone likes someone who likes another person.
Both series are lighthearted slice-of-life comedies that don't really take themselves too seriously.
There are a lot of similar characters in the series. You can pretty much find a counterpart for every character in the other series (Tenma = Ayumi, Eri = Kei, Harima = Misao ..... you get the idea).
Also both series tend to spend a few episodes on each of the characters and then move on to the next. Because of that, it is very difficult to classify anyone as "the main character". Rather, there really isn't such a thing as a main character in either series.
Hatsukoi Limited has a gentler comedy and art style (similar to Minami Ke), but both deals with high school love from various angles. School Rumble focused more on comedic situations that arose from complex web of one sided love, Hatsukoi Limited focuses more on each character's thoughts and actions for their love.
Although high school romance is portrayed in different ways, both animes explore strikingly different situations from different types of love, but most importantly: leave you with warm and fuzzy feelings that you can only get from love comedy~
School Rumble and D-Frag not only takes place at school but also stars a main male protagonist with traits of a delinquent. At school, they are notorious for their bad boy images that causes them to be ostracized. However, at the same time, they attract the unusual attentions of some characters in ways that are presented comically hysterical.
There is a lot of comedy offered in both series. School Rumble does take on a more serious mood on various times but the point often draws out a line of fictional humor involving its characters.
Similarities
-Both protagonist are self proclaimed delinquents
-Both have the same feeling of comedy and are very funny
-Both takes place in school. (majority)
When I watched the first 2 episodes of D-Frag, I was curios that I feel I watched an anime very similar to this. When I tried to search the anime, I found out that it was School Rumble which left memories of a very much humor that I appreciated. If you somehow love or at least you're entertained to anime like these two, then I suggest you to give it a chance of watching. Who knows, maybe you'll love it. :D
Over-the-top comedy/gag series that take place at school and feature one protagonist who is a former delinquent, both of which have the surname Kenji. There's even a character in D-frag! who looks a lot like Harima from School Rumble.
Both are very funny school-life anime with so many similiarities:
A delinquent-like character ia the main character between this shows, also, both mc are called Kenji
Roka uses a hairstyle strongly similar to Tenma, also they have a little sister that is apparently older than them (Tsutsuji (manga only) and Yakumo)
These two series had a crazy tournament (the 2-C vs 2-D in School Rumble, and the "zipper incident" tournament in D-Frag!)
...
(Sorry for my English, it isn't my native language)
D-Frag is a successor of SR comedy-wise: random extravagant humor and exaggerations with a bit of cringe. Romance is just a way of progressing the plot and put characters in different situations (in SR it is a love polygon and in DF its more of a harem) without developing any relationship whatsoever.
Both are endlessly hilarious comedies with many amazing characters and funny situations. Both Gintama and School Rumble were also directed by the same person, Shinji Takamatsu, and I think it shows. Like one, you'll love the other.
There have been few anime that make me laugh consistently throughout every single episode. There are a couple anime that have little to no plot and yet develop their characters more than several other shows combined. There are two anime that I couldn't stop watching no matter how hard I tried. These would be Gintama and School Rumble. Gintama is a parody of shounen anime while Sukuran is a parody of comedy romance. Both do an impecable job yet somehow make the viewer fall in love with the majority of the cast. Without leads like Gintoki and Harima the anime world would be a much darker place. A place without ichigo gyuunuu and goatees.
I highly recommend these two comedies. You will be in stitches after every episode I promise. Both are very long running so the fun won't run out quickly either :) read more
Both main female leads are very childish and similar in more then one ways. Also they both have mature sisters. Slice of Life and school type anime aswell.
Both shows are very humorous in a very similar style. The art style is somewhat similar. Also, Kana from Minami-Ke and Tenma from School Rumble are very similar characters (cheerful, loud, dense and absolutely hilarious). There are also similarities in the sibling relationships (Tenma + Yakumo and the Minami sisters).
School Rumble, like Minami ke, will make you laugh time and again. It has characters with their quirks, randomness, and is overall a light hearted series. However, unlike Mimami ke, School Rumble does have a semblance of a plot. Both are funny and interesting.
Both School Rumble and Cromartie are extremely funny and random; only for that they both are definitely worth more than one watch! Also, both of the anime have bullies and thugs as central plot element.
And, Harima Kenji (the male protagonist) is very like many of the main characters in Cromartie. He is a silly, weird-ass bully, who acts seriously while doing absolutely stupid things, just like ALL of the characters in Cromartie! And that's what makes those "bullies" so hilarious!
Both series have to do with a crazy school and the hijinks of its students. School Rumble has more of a focus on romance, while Cromartie focuses on the insane scenarios and wacky characters. The main protagonist of each show (Harima in School Rumble and Kamiyama in Cromartie) are pretty aloof and always find themselves in crazy situations. If you enjoy high school comedies, you should give School Rumble and Cromartie High School a try!
They Both are extremely funny and hilarious.
If you are thinking what to watch after School Rumble then Cromartie Highschool is the best choice.
If one delinquent (Harima) can make you laugh that much then imagine what would happen if you watch an anime that is full of nothing but delinquents.
So What are you waiting for, STOP READING AND GO WATCH IT and you won't regret it Trust me.
The format is very similar and sit com like, each episode can be watched independently, regardless of the overall plot (which doesn't really exist anyway).
Both animes are also about pretty stupid characters in completely absurd and hilarious situations.
Sakikage is the closest thing I've seen to School Rumble (yet), so if you like one, chances are you'll like the other too.
Did you like the school life senario with rather imaginitive twist to the storyline that either one of these stories have? The other happens to have very simular effects on people.
Undeniably similar humor with a school setting. Both series mainly consists of a string humorous situations. While Nichijou hasn't really got much of a story to speak of, School Rumble has more development both in terms of story and characters, although still not very noticeable. If you liked one of them, you will surely enjoy the other.
Both have a similar element of randomness to them. Both can easily go over the top (in a good way). Both are about "slice of life" school days. Lots of fun and laughs in each!
These shows are very similar IMO. They both have almost no plot and a large array of characters. They're both hilarious and often completely unrealistic.
Both Working and School Rumble have a similar 'atmoshphere' - comedy, random episodes without any real plot (this is more true of 'Working' which is similar to 'Minami-ke' in this respect), peculiar characters and their interrelations. School rumble's characters are a group of students while Working!!'s are the part time workers at Wagnaria. The latter is much more slow paced than the former but that does not really hurt the series's enjoyment. Both have bright and colorful visuals. If you liked one then you will probably enjoy the other as well. Personally I enjoyed Working more than School Rumble.
Different concepts and locations of the stories, but similar atmosphere and character relationships. The interactions between the characters both have a romcom lighthearted theme to it, with subtle love triangles between them and an overall fun feel to it.
The style of art is similar and Tenma is just like Hikari, except she's cuter while Hikari is more boyish XD Special A is cuter than School Rumble due to it being centered around a super cute romance, but I think that if you like one, you'll definitely like the other!
Special A = School Rumble + Ouran High School Host Club
Male lead in love with the totally adorable and equally dense and clueless female lead who doesn't notice his feelings even if slapped in the face with them..... check.... Pompous, rich and good-looking people that can do anything and everything to perfection and are clearly superior to all humans and even posses hearts of gold.... check.... ^^
+ all 3 are fantastic series
they are both really really kawaii and the main character has an air mattress head (airhead) in both the only difference is this one is like rated for like 11.7 year olds and and school rumble is like 12 and up
Both are based off of high school girls who are just sweet and insecure in their own way. Friendship and romance are shared themes and you find yourself fawning over the love and humor that these anime share.
Both have awesome MC, Harima and Takeo, it's nearly impossible to not like them. I rarely enjoy rom-com but for some reason I like both series because : they are funny, characters are lovable and some heartwarming scenes here and there.
School Rumble is another romantic comedy anime that focuses on the lives of two high school teenagers. It definitely has the whole beauty and the beast vibe where a brawly "not the typically considered attractive" guy falls in love with the cute girl. Sort of like in the beginning of Ore Monogatari, the male protagonist saves the female protagonist and their lives are intertwined. But I would say that would be where the comparisons end. The high school girl does not have a mutual liking towards to main male character, Harima, and only considers him a friend. The series is pretty much Harima being stuck in the friendzone the majority of the time. And throughout, you find out that there are so many other relationships going on. It does get kind of mixed and confusing because they linger over side characters but I can at least say the character development was somewhat interesting. You just might be a little disappointed or surprised by the ending depending on who gets with who, but I would say it's worth watching.  read more
Both animes are romantic comedies that are centered around high schoolers. The protagonists seem intimidating and people judge them. However they are actually kind, caring and hopeless romantics. The girls that they love are both bubbly, cute, kind and quite ditzy.
Personally, Ore Monogatari is the School Rumble that I wanted since School Rumble mainly has the main character tripping over his feet whenever he tries to ask the girl he likes out while Ore Monogatari has our love interests become a couple very early on. Both are still fun and great watches however and hopefully they'll make you smile inside like they did with me :). read more
The relationships between a lot of the characters in these animes are very, very similar. As an example: you have the delinquent who softens up and is too shy to admit his feelings for a girl, while that girl happens to be in love with another guy. Both animes also includes a big amount of comedy, lots of love triangles and people wanting to confess their feelings.
Love triangles, people scared to confess, and people ignorant of people's feelings are main points in both shows. Asu no Yoichi is a little more ecch, i but nothing too extreme.
Ayame=Eri
Washizu=Harima
In both series, a delinquent character softens up and changes upon falling in love with a female character that is in love with a different guy. Both of these male characters desperately want to confess their feelings for the female character but different people and events keep getting in the way
In both titles there are some really absurd situations (and characters) that makes them hilarious.
Even though Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge may look, at first, as a cliche shoujo with a shy girl who can't make friends, you'll soon realise that is not the case.
The girl in question surely does not want to make friends (or a boyfriend) in the first place.
------
They both have some overarching plot, Tenma trying to confess to Karasuma and Sunako becoming a lady, while each episode is filled with some silly randomness that you can't help but enjoy.
The comedy feels quite similar since both series are borderline gag anime. Both Sunako and Harima have an existential crisis while ignoring their true potential. Both animes also involve delinquents and blonde tsunderes.
Random jokes, random fun, random days. Hayate is really just the otaku version of School Rumble. If you are a guy and you liked School Rumble, try Hayate as well.
Without a doubt both series have their similarities, such as how both Hayate and Harima are completely oblivious to the feelings of their secret lovers. If you're into upbeat, crazy, hilarious situations, then School Rumble is definitely worth a shot.
'Love' became problematic between the characters, who tried to get close to a person, or completely messed up on what they are trying to do. The school romantic comedy mostly involved characters who are caught up in a situation when it comes to love. Though they usually try it again to make it smoother, but sometimes it won't get pass to the point.
The difference is that School Rumble features a variety of a large characters, with lots of love triangles, going around the school. Acchi Kocchi features a small cast that has two main characters who are in love, though it will take quite a while to do this. read more
School Rumble and Acchi Kocchi are both about a girl who is seriously in love with a guy, but just can’t seem to confess her feelings to him. The male love interests in the two anime have very similar personalities: emotionless to the point where it actually becomes funny. Both heroines have seriously WTF hair styles: Tenma has her small twin-tails that twitch up and down to show emotion, while Tsumiki has her spiral hair antenna that is longer and crazier than the hair antennae that’s pretty common in anime. Much of the comedy in the two anime is slapstick, and they have similar amounts of it as well. But while School Rumble contains multiple love triangles, Acchi Kocchi’s romance is mostly just between Tsumiki and Io. read more
The main female character wants to be with a boy in her class. Both series have several love triangles, characters who have trouble confessing their feelings to each other and lots of lol comedy.
Both are set at school and have quite similar humor and character types. The protagonists have troubles with confessing their feelings and sometimes choose weird ways to achieve their aims. The female leads are both light-hearted and somewhat naive and have younger sisters who act more mature. You'll find even more in common if you watch both, however, neither series may be called a copycat. The atmosphere is also similar, despite the fact B-gata is more ecchi while School Rumpble is slightly more fantastic and weird.
this show is told the same way and has a lot of comedy romance. If you like the hole feeling you got from watching B gata h kei, you will surely like School rumble. it may seem silly at first but when you really get into it its great. I personally gave it a 10.......just like this one. you might think that its pretty high, but yeah I really love the feel they have to them.
enjoy - Peace out
School setting with really crazy comedy and large cast of characters.
There are some similiar archtypes (for example, hot-blooded class president, delinquent who tries to leave his past behind, etc.).
Saiki kinda feels like a parody of School Rumble at times with similar character archetypes, yet instead, in Saiki we get some poking fun of archetypes through breaking of the 4th wall and such. Regardless, the shows have a very similar feel except Saiki isn't based around the love aspect. If you loved School Rumble for its comedy and charm, you will probably adore Saiki as well and vice versa.
Are you a fan of gag animes? Then you'd love School Rumble!
Both series have an endearing and large cast of characters, each with their own zany archetypes that parody the self-referential character molds you find throughout anime. Each series is episodic in nature, with mini skits/segments that run the course of each episode.
Only difference is School Rumble is more of a romcom/soap opera style series, while Saiki K has less romance, although it does serve as a subplot in many of the gags throughout the series. If you enjoyed one, then there's a really good chance you'll enjoy and laugh your eyes out watching the other! read more
ive been looking for a something similar to school rumble for years, and Cheeky Angel fits the bill the best by far.
very funny delinquent main characters - very similar situations. school rumble is a bit more polished, but if you like one, you'd definitely like the other.
Both involve casts of characters involved in complex love/relationship webs, and series of misunderstandings, leading to hilarious comedy situations. Gamers is the closest thing to School Rumble in a long time.
Romcoms with humor stemming from misunderstandings snowballing out of control. School Rumble has a separate set of misunderstanding that resolves themselves each episode while Gamers! has an overarching plot that gets more out of control as it continues.
The series are from the same Mangaka.
If you like the humor go for it. School Rumble however doesn't have much of a story, but NNA does. Other than that, they don't have too much in common.
You like (romantic) school comedies? Then watch SR!
There are also a lot of School Rumble cameos in NNA ;)
Both have a strong sense of comedy and beautiful female leads, both can be surprinsingly serious and touching, both take place in a classic japanese city.
The second anime adapted from a work by Jin Kobayashi, the mangaka behind School Rumble. Natsu no Arashi features much of the same style of quirky humor as School Rumble, as well as charming characters and a fun story. Keep an eye out for School Rumble cameos/easter eggs as well!
Both anime have love triangles and they're both have situations with a lot of misunderstandings. They both tease you with the outcome of the romance. The only difference is that Nisekoi is more of a harem.
Both have love triangles and most of relationship situation starts with misunderstanding. Both series also featuring love rivalry between blonde and typical Japanese style girl.
The difference is that Nisekoi is more of a harem and School Rumble has more variety of character..
They are both hilarious, fun, and wacky series with a unique cast of characters. Bobobo-bo Bobo-bo is a fighting series about protecting hair while School Rumble is kind of a romantic comedy. But they both have parts that are goofy and make know sense but usually in Bobobo-bo Bobo-bo the characters do wacky skits while in School Rumble it is sometimes just plain wacky but sometimes the characters fantasies.
Both Have a delinquent protagonist who changes his style by some factor and have somebody who always lose in fights for main. (In Yuu Yuu Hakusho are Kuwabara and in School Rumble are Yoshidayama)
Both are romantic comedies. Also, school rumble have more "triangler loves" than love hina. Protagonists are similar: Keitaro and Harima has great difficulty in declaring for your beloved girl and have more than 1 girl loving they.
Love Hina are more focused on Love and School Rumble are more focused on Comedy.
They both stuggle to confess their feelings to the guy their in love with .. mean while someone is struggling to tell her that he loves her ! The stories are really similar to each other and they both talk about confessing while going threw other conflicts .. ^^
Both have the same type of humor - over-the-top characters that make fun of anime stereotypes, and ridiculous action sequences that will leave you laughing your head off.
Even though they are different types of comedy, you can really enjoy a school life anime in the best way.
You will even be sad that they have already ended.
Beside the fact that they have the same genres, ( you get the same feelings when you watch it) there are also people confessing their feelings that they find it hard to do and overall it was very enjoyable (in my opinion). There are also some characters who act like characters from both shows. The romance is a bit slow but everything else is good.
Both anime's are full of comedy and make you laugh at its really weird randomness, also they both show life of highschool students in a funny way. One might show more about love than the other but they both do excelent parodies of other anime's and movies. xD
Both lucky star and school rumble have some of the most random comedy i've ever seen. Both are also similar, taking place on a school, and following the mains life.
While lucky star is almost only about comedy, is school rumble more a romantic comedy. But when i watch one, i can't stop thinking about the other.
These older classics utilize similar humor and similar settings. Whether one will like the other may be a bit of a hit or miss depending on the person, yet I also feel checking the other out isn't something someone would want to miss out on.
School life is meant to be crazy, right? Particularly when one goes through high school. Well, both SKET Dance and School Rumble take this theme and push it foward in a way that can excite the rewier into histarics.
Both of these anime are firmly in the comedy genre. Both anime are quite ridiculous going to extremes. I haven’t watched tons of SKET Dance yet, so it may not end up having tons as far as romance goes. School rumble is all about romance but nothing really actually resolves. Lots of shipping though.
Both have romance on the top of their minds, and they both approach those angles in a comedic way and they both take place in a school. If you want to laugh and feel good, they both accomplish that.
Some characters in QMA instantly reminded me of the SR ones (Shalon=Eri, Lask=Kentaro, Malariya=Akira, Ruquia=Tenma because of the personality, Mikoto due to the physical appearance).
Both are random, wacky, funny school comedies. School Rumble is obviously longer and better, but Quiz is enjoyable too, strangely enough.
Both of these shows happen to have students in comedic slice of life situations which likely wouldn't happen in real life. Well, in the case of School Rumble it is stuff one doesn't expect for a normal school life while with Quiz Magic Academy it has to do with stuff that isn't likely to happen at Negima or Harry Potter's schools.
Both of these are hilarious high school slapstick comedies, though FMP has mecha action thrown in and School Rumble has a big love dodecahedron sub plot.
Both school comedies share the same spirit. They are totally hilarious and (despite having ecchi moments) aren't that cheesy or vulgar. I'd say they have the proper balance not to go downhill. Both also maintain to stay close to real life - I'm sure everyone (especially girls 'cause Joshi Kousei is about girls) will recognize themselves or their friends...
This show is very similar having 2 guys chasing after a girl while obviously there are many underlying factors
School rumble is suited for the younger generation but they have the same humor and similar style of jokes you could say that there is some inspiration when watching this two films in their similarities
Both of these are great parodies. They are both hilarious comedies with a little bit of romance. The music was also catchy and cute in each. (Parodies are not for everyone) So if you loved or even liked one you like the other.
Although there isn't a manipulative best friend in School Rumble, both anime have somewhat similar aspects. They both have love triangles, although School Rumble revolves around more characters than Peach Girl does. Also, School Rumble is more comedic than realistic.
so much similarities; school life, comedy which is always misunderstandings, has a romance and harem and both protagonist are sometimes hopeless but always funny.
If u Ever watch ''School Rumble'', u May also LIKE
"Yuru Yuri". ^^
another funny/silly anime with
strong friendship bond among few high school students.
It's similar in the way that , both main characters get in troubles with lots of girls, and happend they make girls love them without even notice, Harem
Both series involves around a protagonist who is seen as a delinquent. He later develops a crush on the main female protagonist of the series and attempts to win her affections.
The main protagonist's personality is also similar...with both series taking place in a school life setting.
Both series has a lot of comedy, drama, and romance.
Sana and Tenman have similar personalities. Plus both series revolve around a love triangle and much like Kenj, Akito doesn't like to show too much emoticons towards people. However both main boys show feeling for the main girls.
The plots and characters aren't very similar at all. However, both animes have a similar sense of humor. If you were watching it for the comedy and liked it, you will probably like the other too.
Both anime have a classroom setting with a wide variety of cast. Both of them have a class where most of the students have unique characteristics which make the anime more enjoyable. If you want an anime having a classroom setting where you wish to very much be a part of it, these are for you.
Both are big school comedies with a lot of characters that end up all forming sweet relationships with one another. While Marmalade Boy is a bit more dramatic and School Rumble is much more slice of life, that's pretty much the only difference.
The first episode of Oresuki has some similarities to School Rumble:
-Ensemble high-school cast.
-Main character has two sides to him, a nice guy and a bad boy.
-Main character likes a girl, who likes another boy.
-Another girl is interested in the main character.
Both are skit-based comedy in a school setting that relies on misunderstandings and are filled with eccentric characters. The big difference is that "Komi Can't Communicate" is heavily centered on the protag, Komi with a POV leading man while in "School Rumble", it mostly follows Harima Kenji but the antics of the entire set of characters are the main content, most of the time involving Harima himself but not necessarily always focusing on just him.
Having the most dumb/airhead can make a huge misunderstanding to pointed out in that she' not at fault, and figured it out that her methods are usually off-scale to stupidity. Both series can laugh you for good and burst your inner side into pure whackyness
Even though one is definitely only about love, the other one adds comedy, and that is why it is even better. You will not regret it.
You will even be sad that they have already ended.
Both are romantic comedies where the MC is a delinquent. Also, the two of them have a cast composed of interesting characters that disrupt what could be a normal school life: in the case of Yamada-kun to 7-nin no majo because of the presence of supernatural elements, while in School Rumble is due to the absurd and comic situations in which the charcaters involve themselves.
Well School Rumble and Mangaka - San to Assistant - San both are Hilarious Comedy Anime.
Both Anime involves around a Protagonist who is a Manga Artist.
Similar type of Humor and Situations with a lots of MISUNDERSTANDINGS which will make you Laugh.
Give it a Try and You will Definitely Enjoy one if you liked the other!!
Main Hero have some similarities
-Had the Unexpected Life
-Had same Problem,that's "Dream "
-funny moments when they came out can always make smile and laugh
-Had someone they love
School Rumble is also about a delinquent student who doesn't care about school, these anime has a few things common but i personally think i you liked this anime then you will also enjoy school rumble.
Both shows have quirky characters and moments that seem completely random yet, hilarious. Also, both feature characters with black hair that can seemingly do anything.
Both shows employ silly humor and common character tropes, have a healthy cast of both males and females who all have unique personalities and quirks, use love triangles as the main "romantic" comedy, occur in a high school where there appear to be no rules, and feature completely oblivious main characters who are still struggling to figure out this whole "flirting" thing. A lot of character traits transfer over, too. Practically every main character can be found in another main character in School Rumble. Minami is practically reincarnated as Eri, minus the flat chest jokes. So if you just finished Baka and Test and feel like you need something to fill the hole that the ending left, the characters and humor of School Rumble are extremely reminiscent of Baka and Test and makes the perfect next anime to watch.
If you plan on watching the dub (which, by the way, is amazingly well done), familiar voices play familiar characters, and the voice acting is just as good (if not better) than Baka and Test's.

As funny as GB, School Rumble is a comedy about students with love triangles ( more love dodecagon in School Rumble ).
Even if the humor is less ecchi than in GB, the weirdness of the MCs ( especially Harima Kenji ) reminds me of this anime.
Truly, you should give a try.
Character-wise, Hanako (Asobi Asobase) pretty much has the same aura or genki-level as Tenma (School Rumble) has. Both pretty much has the comedy in them.
(and with hair fall-down, Hanako kinda looks like her, too)
Similarity:
+ construction of story,
+ lovable characters,
+ atmosphere,
+ quite good comedies.
To love-ru and School Rumble should be liked by people who are looking
for really chillout shows with many various characters.
School Rumble is quite a unique anime experience filled with nostalgic memories anyone can relate with. Starting off with an innocent little girl, Tsukamoto Tenma as she goes to school who just wishes she could reach out to her loved one and have a romantic time together as their highschool years go by. Unbeknownst to Tenma however, a delinquent is also on the chase for his lover… who just happens to be her.
Giving you Shoujo Vibes? Well, it isn’t not by a milestone. It’s in fact, a comedy anime filled with the feeling of wanting to reach out for the other person, but never truly being able to connect, both are so air headed, none of their signs truly reach out for them, that struggle is what enables such a wonderful comedy.
As the series goes by and more characters are introduced the circumstances just go way out of hand and makes for quite some hilarious circumstances which I believe anyone can relate to their School years. That is this Anime’s beauty. You feel nostalgic about your school life as you grow more in sync with these characters and want to see how they will befriend one another.
As for how this is Similar to Lum, both are highschool stories, both are very comical, and both have a romantic appeal and story to tell. So if you did fancy watching Urusei Yatsura (or vice versa), you should most definitely want to give this a go.  read more
hmm Sora no manimani is prety similar in comedy styles, i think, but the whole romance comedy made me remember it, soo i though i would just put it here.
All in all, they are both funny
School slice-of-life flick with the genders trying to couple together. School Rumble is much more light-hearted and pure slice-of-life with no long term plot, whereas Green Green is much more of a comedy, raunchy style with occassional nudity.
Well shuffle and school rumble are both comedy romance series
Shuffle: has more romance but also has comedy
School rumble: has more comedy but has the same sort of story as shuffle but there's never anything super serious like in shuffle
Both anime are set at school (as their titles say...), have comedy, romance, and are mostly about friendship (and, in the case of School Rumble, love triangles).
Some of the characters in GA reminded me of SR: Hotaru is basically the loli version of Akira (seriously, they're so similiar it's almost scary), and same goes for Mikan and Tenma.
Gakuen Alice is obviously more childish than School Rumble and the latter is way funnier and more random, but they're both enjoyable.
Both are comedy shows about school and are both funny. Both try to do things that are typical but have original ideas for scenes and chrarcters. The only difference is that School Rumble gas serious scenes to it, unlike Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. If you liked School Rumble, you might like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and vise versa!
Both are lighthearted high school series with characters you instantly relate to and cheer for. While School Rumble focuses more on character interaction and comedy, Hitohira concentrates on character development and drama.
the same kind of animation, and same kind of ignorant girl personalities (very energetic) who falls for guy and gives everything towards him, whilst he is an extremely bad choice. some development, and no doubt happy endings at the end, quite predictable
Both have hilarating sense of comedy and silly characters. The one takes place in a japanese classic city, the other in an hypothetical crazy jungle, and both main characters are insanely appealing.
The relationship between the pairs of sisters Yui and Ui, on the one hand, and Tenma and Yakumo, on the other, is very similar, as well as their personalities.
both series features a tea club and at least one of their respective heroines are members of the tea clubs. Rihoko is the only one of the 6 amagami ss heroines who is a member of the tea club in amagami while in school rumble, all (except for karen) are members
the characters Tenma and Yakumo from School Rumble are similar to Kanade and Haruna from Fortune Arterial: Akai Yakusoku, think about it the older sister who is lively and child-like and who actually looks younger than the younger sister who is calm and mature.
both series have blond haired guys that often get beaten: sunohara and imadori albeit only in different ways: sunohara often gets beaten for various reasons while imadori gets beaten for being a pervert and the protagonists kenji harima and tomoya okazaki are ex-deliquents
Surprised this hasn't been recommended yet. Although School Rumble doesn't involve a main character being an "otaku", it focuses primarily on the romance aspect - like this show does. I'm recommending this coming fresh off of watching this show and somehow it struck me, that I enjoyed this anime in the same ways I enjoyed School Rumble: it knew that people wanted to see romance throughout the series, and, by-and-large, it delivers fabulously.
PARODIES, PARODIES and MORE PARODIES! Both of these shows employ recurring gimmicks with an ingenious use of word play and make references to other shows/characters. Despite of the storyline difference (school life vs. baking), both shows have a similar sense of humor.
the males (sakuragi and harima) almost dwarfs than their love interests (haruko and tenma).. plus a unique love triange... the rukawa-haruko-sakuragi love triangle is similar to the karasuma-tenma-harima love triangle.
both series featured perverted guys that often get beaten by girls: Tsutomu Tachibana and Kyosuke Imadori plus cheery type girls: hinata okano and tenma tsukamoto. plus yakumo and hikari have both adopted a cat, and have pretty blond haired ladies, eri sawachika and nozomi fujimiya
